I needed to have a replacement key cut for my motorcycle by the key code because I had lost the only key that I had. I called around town, and many locksmith services could not do this (even though it is fairly common). On top of that many of the places I called sounded very unprofessional. Not only did Emerson's only charge me $10.50 for the copy when I was being quoted $30 - $50 at other shops, but they even went so far as to fashion a custom key for me to try on my motorcycle (which took a lot of grinding and trimming to make it the special shape that it needed to be) before they cut the expensive key blank that I had to special order from my motorcycle dealership. All said and done I spent under $15 for two working keys for my motorcycle. These guys are awesome! Awesome. Called late on a Tuesday afternoon to change three locks in the store I work at and have new keys made, and had everything done, and done well, by early Wednesday afternoon. My boss is happy with the price and I'm happy with how jolly and efficient the three (I think) different employees I encountered from Emerson's were both on the phone and in person. Yes, I said jolly. Maury especially. They happily gave me an invoice to pass on to my boss for payment with no qualms about that fact that I was not paying at the time of service, which I had been concerned about and not had a chance to mention with how quickly they did everything! Absolutely outstanding customer service.. my key snapped off in the lock. After an hour of trying to remove it myself using every possible option that the internet provided me with, I realised that. Needed to accept that this was a job for a trained professional. It wasn't a huge emergency as I could still get in and out , this has happened with this lock once before and the company I used charged me $170. I decided this time to avoid the emergency call out fee and pop down to Emerson's Locksmith. I needed to get keys cut anyway, so thought I may as well ask if they had any advice or if I could book them to come up later in the day to take a look. The lovely gentleman behind the counter suggested I try a tool made especially for Schlage locks to remove the handle, as he didn't want me to waste my money on a house call fee. He then gave me the required tool free of charge!! To my surprise it worked like a charm and I had removed the handle in under a minute. and then brought it back down to him to remove the broken key. Not only did he swiftly return the lock to a useable state he also added a couple of extra pins that were apparently missing and probably the reason the key snapped off in the first place. The grand total of this repair was just over $10! I also got a couple of keys cut too which set me back another $8. No where near the amount I paid first time around with the other locksmith ( who failed to mention pins were missing which may cause it to happen again....) . So I'm truly grateful and impressed that Emerson's staff offered me an option which saved me over $150 . So I highly recommend everyone use them when they can. They also sell a variety of safes and garage beepers as well as a decent selection of novelty keys. So do keep them in mind. read more

Another locksmith company I had out a few weeks earlier said they couldn't re-key any of the old locks in the apartment, but Maury, the owner of Emerson Locksmith said they could re-key the front door lock about which I called. He quoted me a reasonable price and made an appointment for one of his locksmiths to come out. Ronnie, the locksmith who came out, re-keyed the front door lock for which I called, no problem. He was professional, polite, and clean and in short order, I had a working lock at a reasonable price. I then showed him the other locks in the apartment and he said he would be able to re-key those as well. It is getting to be ever harder to find decent craftsmen in this city, so I am truly grateful to have found this locksmith. Super quick and very friendly service. I needed 2 keys cut and was in and out in less than 5 minutes. For the grand total of $3.28. I even managed to find parking right in front on a meter, despite it being rush hour on a Friday. It's a small old school place but they are clearly ultimate specialists in their field but it still feels like a local mom and pop place. The guy who served me even told me to double check the keys work as soon as I get home and come back if there are and problems. Very nice and friendly. I heard they do call outs too. Had been meaning to get keys copied for a long time. I never really trust those key machines in drug stores so I was looking for a legitimate locksmith in my neighborhood. What an amazing experience - I walked in to the store and the man behind the counter noticed me right away. Copied two keys in less than a minute. Walked out spending about $5. I couldn't be happier with my experience--will definitely be coming back! The only thing that sucks is the parking but if you're lucky there's metered parking along La Cienaga. I accidently put the wrong key into the wrong lock on my house. I disassembled the lock and brought it to them with a cold walk in. I needed to have two locks rekeyed and were finished the task quite quickly. Usually they ask that you go and do some other stuff and the keys would be ready when you are finished. They were !! I called this locksmith based on glowing reviews from others. However, when told that I had already purchased the locks and needed them to install them, they were not interested. They went on with some nonsense about how they wouldn't want to be liable if something went wrong with the locks and that they couldn't be responsible for them. I told them I would be willing to sign any kind of a waiver stating that they were purchased by me and that I would not hold them responsible for any malfunction of the locks. Well......no deal. in 1940, my Father made a cedar chest for my Mother. I have the chest now, but all keys had gone missing, and the chest was locked so we could not even get inside to look at the lock. It needed an old-fashioned skeleton type key for the lever lock my Dad had used so many years ago. John actually made a key just by touch. He found a key that matched to a degree, and then went about grinding it to fit just by trying it in the lock, then returning to the grinder until he had a key that turned and open the chest. Quite something! I so much appreciate John going the extra mile as I had searched diligently all over LA for someone with the know-how to get the chest open and then make some keys. After having my gas tank siphoned empty... I purchased a locking gas cap. Then proceeded to loose one of two keys that came with the gas cap. To my amazement and dismay, after visiting many, many locksmiths over an entire year...I could not find a locksmith that had a BLANK KEY that fit the lock. I refused to spend $25-$30 for a new locking gas cap. A friend recommended Emerson's Locksmith. The owner asked me to bring in gas cap... starting with a basic blank... this old time craftsman spent at least 30 minutes...to cut, shaped and machine a precise custom matched duplicate. He charged me $4... so I had him make three more copies. Five Stars to the locksmith that wouldn't stop until the key fit the lock. read more

Emerson's Locksmith Co. was incredibly helpful. I just moved and somehow lost my mailbox key. I called a number of locksmiths getting price quotes for getting a new lock installed. Most quotes were between $75-$90. When I called Emerson's they had better price quotes, but suggested that I catch my mailman when he had the mailboxes open. The gentleman I was speaking with told me how to unlatch the lock and pop it out. All I needed to do was take it in and buy a new lock. It cost me $14.21. I was easily able to install the new lock. He was unable to take care of one of my issues but gave me a great recommendation for who could help me. He was then able to successfully replace some ancient garage door openers. Emerson's is a lot like Koontz, a West Hollywood institution that's been in business for many decades. They've survived by offering great products & great service. You can always count on them. They ordered my lock and then nothing. 2 follow up calls to come and install it - and to be told yes we will call you back and arrange a time- they never did. It takes alot for me to write a bad review on anything, but this place has THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered the lock in Feb 2017... its now May! We are very glad we chose Emerson's Locksmith to re-key our front Door's lock. (the service was done at our parents home in Central LA while we visited here) We called Emerson's at 10AM on a weekday and talked to Maurice who was very cordial and asked us specific questions about the type of lock we had. They had a busy day but he managed to get us an appointment for 1-2PM on the same day. One of their Locksmiths called us while he was on the way and arrived on time. He was very polite, professional and respectful (even waited outside the gate to our yard until we invited him in). Marvin required only 20 min to re-key and provide us with 4 duplicates.
