All that said, this was a super super busy and hectic day with the crowds given the incredible weather. It's basically July here in LA proper in early March. (Wow) My old 2013 Chevy spark has run its course through all of its remote fob keys. As a result, I thought I would have to go to the dealer where I know they would kill me with the price. He's also a really nice, patient guy, and his prices are fair! If you need something more complex than just having an extra housekey made, call ahead to make sure Avi will be there-or schedule an appointment with him over the phone. And if you need to wait a bit, for something like a car key fob, hanging out in Farmers Market or walking around the Grove is an added bonus. (Avi will call you when your key is ready!) I bought a key fob online, then brought it to Ralph's for programing. After spending time on my key, it was discovered that I bought the wrong type of key fob to Ralph's, but they offered to fix it when I brought the right key (basically spending twice as much time on my key but not charging extra). The BEST key service in L.A. for DECADES. These gents have made perfect copies for me too many times to count -- both for residential keys & commercial ones. They are TRULY knowledgeable & skilled at what they do, especially with properly identifying the right key "blanks" -- even for old locks. They also replace batteries & program auto remotes and such. This charming stand at the Original Farmer's Mkt. (next to the Grove) was good b4 these gents took over. Now it is SUPERB. I have NEVER had a key made by them that didn't work. NEVER. Not meaning to put pressure on them (it is carved metal after all) but do yourself a SOLID and skip the multiple trips to Home Depot or those awful self-serve machines. You will be a devoted fan on 1st try. It is worth it even if you have to drive MILES extra to save the headaches & go to these guys. Parking is validated for 90 mins & I highly recommend parking in the easy, open lot where the Container Store is (enter at the light from Fairfax & go left - not right). These guys are the absolute best. There's never an issue with any of the keys. I have had them make car keys (they can do the whole electronic thing and make you a new key), house keys and work keys.
