Emilio's has been one of my consistent favorites. One of the first, and in my opinion the best tapas in Chicagoland. Today we had the dates, two wonderful sea food plates and pear and fig desserts. All we're wonderful - particularly the seafood tostadas, seafood brochette and pear dessert. Exceptional service from Anna was the icing on the cake. Been going here for years, and have always enjoyed the food. I've had excellent service all but once (and that waitress was good, but loud and kind of pushy). I used to like it when they would serve a little amuse bouche of olives or bing cherries, some thing small. Haven't had that for a while, but I still enjoy Emilio's, every dish! read more

Best restaurant around & has been since it opened! Emilio is always on site tending to the details. It's summertime so check out the charming patio and order their refreshing but not sweet Sangria. Wow the garlic potato salad is to DIE for!! My friend and I didn't order much but what we did order was really good. We had a pitcher of sangria, tomato bread and a house salad for starters. Then we had the potato salad and some kind of pork...I don't remember what it was called. Then we had the cream puff things with chocolate. Definitely have to try more of their desserts next time! All in all a good place. Why not give it 5 stars? Well I have some picky eaters in my family and I feel.that if I ever wanted to bring them here they would have a hard time finding something. read more

I have been coming here for years as my special occassion place to go. The tapas are wonderful, and I dream about the beef brochette, the tuna cannoli, the garlic potato salad and the terrine of chocolate for dessert. It's not a pretentious place, but there is a warm festive atmosphere in Emilios. I love coming in on a cold Chicago winter night and huddling around the few tables near the bar while we wait for a table. The sangria is yummy and the long standing chef at Emilios likes to surprise patrons from time to time by sending out complimentary samples of the special tapas. I will always have a warm place in my heart for Emilios! read more

Been going to Emilios for years. Consistently good. Conveniently located with lots of parking. We usually each order our favorites and share then split the check. It's all good. First time there. And the food wasn't that tasty. The bacon wrapped dates were good and were the best part of our meal. We also ordered the calamari tapa, and chicken with curry sauce and both were disappointing. Lastly we had the chicken paella and it average at best. The shrimp in the paella was like eating cardboard..it didn't taste fresh, maybe fresh frozen. We should've went to Buffalo Wild Wings. read more

Always GREAT food! We've been to Emilio's six times over the last couple of years and the food and service has always been wonderful! We haven't found a single item that wasn't delicious. Among our favorites: Garlic potato salad (a MUST!) Grilled leg of lamb (just tried it, OMG) Calamari steak (yum) Escargot (delicious) Grilled shrimp with lemon garlic butter (order two) Figs wrapped in bacon (be adventurous, they are suburb) Baked goat cheese (delicious even if you don't like goat cheese) Sangria (wonderful and I don't even like wine!) I could go on and on but you really have to try it for yourself. In addition to the regular menu there is always a long list of daily specials was well. Tapas is best when you go with a group of people because you can try a little of everything. If I had to quibble about anything at Emilio's it would be with the bread. One of my favorite things is to sop up the delicious sauces with a slice of bread. Unfortunately their bread is the mass produced French/Italian loaf that does not do justice to the wonderful sauces that accompany every dish. We spent a little less than $50 per person on our last visit with drinks, gratuity, tax, and a LOT of food. read more

We stop here everytime we come to visit my son in Chicago and last night was as good as it gets. The food was excellent (as always) our server was wonderful and allowed us as much time as we needed to eat and order and Emilio himself welcomed us! Our favorite time of year to eat here is when the weather is nice and we can sit out in the " sunroom" Some of our favorites are : ENSALADA RUSA.. PATATAS CON ALIOLI... BERENJENAS BRASEADAS... grilled eggplant stuffed with goat cheese, served with tomato basil vinaigrette and mixed greens And almost any fish,chicken or octopus dish from the "hot tapas" menu My only wish is they would have the EMILIOS CATALANA..( Emilios creme brulee with bittersweet chocolate) more often. I have been going to Emilio's for the past 15 years. I spent three semesters at Madrid during my college years and was delighted to have a traditional tapas bar near my parents' house in the suburbs. During my twenties, I would hang out at the restaurant bar once or twice a week and order some of the restaurant's lower-priced menus. On special occasions, I'd go with friends and/or family and have a huge feast. The restaurant's dishes are reasonable in price and very good. There is a lot to choose from the menu and the chef is quick in getting the meals to his customers. You can eat your fill at this place, and not waste any food. Now that I am in my mid-thirties, I go to Emilio's in Hillside with my wife on dates. Sitting in the bar section makes a nice romantic atmosphere for a date. My wife, who did some acting in Europe, said it felt just like she was there. Yesterday, I took my two kids (2yrs and infant) and my wife to eat dinner. The waiting staff was really friendly and made sure my kids had their high-chairs and were occupied with coloring on the children's menu. We were slightly concerned that the place would not be too kid-friendly, but had the exact opposite experience. My son loved the food and had a great time. Finally, the owner is a good man who is approachable and really seems to car about his customers. The staff are friendly and professional and do an excellent job in making sure the guests have their needs met. If you are looking for a Spanish/European dining experience for a reasonable price that is fit for all occasions, I highly recommend trying this restaurant.. read more

My brother and i tried a Spanish tapas restaurant for a 2nd time but my parents and a friend of ours had their experience for the 1st time. It was an experience. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful to tell us what they have over there. From shrimp to clams, from patatas bravas to the halibut. Everything was good especially their paellas.
