As more and more of my friends are moving down to the Ft. Greene and Clinton Hill area, I find myself going for a lot of the great restaurants in the area, including Emily, also known as Pizza Loves Emily. Always a very solid choice when it comes to burgers and pizza, Emily doesn't have too much on the menu other than salads, pizzas, and sandwiches, but everything on the menu is executed quite well. Most recently, we got the Colony (sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, pickled jalapeños, honey) and Arn-Dog Jr. (vodka sauce, mozzarella, bacon, mushrooms, banana peppers) to start off and both were pretty great, although I think I preferred the Colony, as it was a lot meatier, and the honey really provided that unique touch. However, the vodka sauce on the Arn-Dog Jr. was delicious, and added a nice kick to the mushrooms and bacon. As for the Emmy burger: dry-aged beef, Emmy sauce, Grafton cheddar, caramelized onions, all on a nice, dense, pretzel bun, with fries and cornichons. You'll notice that the beef patty is very densely packed together, so the texture is a little bit chewy compared to other burgers. I will say though, that I do love the sauce, cheddar, and onions, and it creates a perfect balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and sour, which makes it super unique. I will say, however, that I actually prefer Le Big Matt from Emmy Squared, mostly because I like the texture of the beef a little better. Service was super friendly and attentive throughout the meal, and was great with recommendations. At $26, the Emmy Burger is quite pricey, but I would say it's well worth it, both due to sheer size and just how unique it is. You get a huge pile of thinly-cut fries, and the burger in itself is a meal. Pizzas run at about $19-25, which is decent, since they load the toppings pretty generously. Overall, will definitely visit again, mostly to try their other sandwiches and pies. We did not need a menu since we knew what we wanted. An EMMY BURGER!!!!! As I looked around I saw burgers and pizza. Oh the pizza looked amazing, the burger looked even better. 20mins later, our burger came out. Omg It looked amazing!!!!! The taste? Holy Guacamole!!!!! Even better!!!!! Juicy, savory, salty and sweet. Just mouthwatering. The pretzel bun was so soft. The Emmy special sauce on the burger was just WOW!! It is a $26 burger but I think it's worth it. It also comes with homemade fries and they were pretty good too. We substituted one of the fries for the Horseshoe Fries. Emily has a small interior that is pretty warm because of the hot wool fire oven. However, that did not detract from the eating experience. My friend and I were seated within 7 minutes at the bar (after missing out reservation time by an hour due to subway issues) even though they unfortunately no longer had regular seats reserved for us. We split the famous Emmy burger, which is pricey, but yes it was the best burger I've ever had! It was a very soft burger overall, the meat/patty/onions/sauces were all soft and basically melted into each other--there was no crunch. However, crunch did come from the very skinny fries. The pretzel bun, the sauce, the meat, the cheese, and the onions are all individually delicious, so coming together it crafted the best burger!!! I tried to savor it for as long as possible, which was very difficult. I just wish that there was a crunch component built into the burger. It is a very messy burger, but it's all a part of the eating experience. I wish the fries were a bit more potato-ier as it was mostly just fried crunch outsides. By the time we finished eating (7:40ish) they only had one burger left, so they do run out and try to make it there earlier! Hands down, best cheeseburger I have ever had! The Emmy Burger does not disappoint. I licked the paper it was served on dry to make sure I didn't miss any of the cheese and meat juices. Went here with a friend after hearing so many great things about this place. After perusing the menu, we decided to go with the Emmy burger and the Colony pizza. The pizza we ordered was decent--not anything that I would tell anyone to travel out to Brooklyn for, but an interesting combination of flavors. The burger, on the other hand, was definitely one of the best I've ever had. The beef was so tender and juicy and super flavorful and it all came together so well. Add that to the fact that the fries were great and the aioli and ketchup were tasty as well, and you have a near perfect plate. The girls next to us ordered the s'mores calzone and could barely get through half of it so they offered us a bite so we were able to try it, but weren't really 'wow'ed by it. Overall, this place is tight and it's loud, so be ready for that and be sure to make a reservation. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. EMMY BURGER ($26) - Fleisher's pasture-raised dry aged beef, Tom Cat pretzel bun, EMMY sauce, caramelized onion, Grafton cheddar, cornichon & fries. Guaranteed to be the best $26 you've ever spent. Don't have $26 you say? I guess that's fair. But, if you can work an extra shift, stay an hour later, spend a couple of nights in, walk a dog, sell an organ, or make a quick buck in any other way, please do so. I promise, you won't regret it. The beef is crafted into a beautifully juicy patty that tenderly rests upon the modern marvel that is a pretzel bun. Why all meats are not served on pretzel buns should go in the same question jar as "why is Sugarfish the only sushi place to use warm rice?" but that is beside the point. The caramelized onions are prepared to nothing short of perfection and enhance every single drop of flavor in this taste of heaven. I often opt for burgers without cheese because I fear it overshadows the flavor of good-quality, properly-seasoned beef. But, when eating an award-winning dish, I never make substitutions (nor do they let you). I will tell you that the Grafton cheddar is the EXACT type of cheese that should lay betwixt the patty and upper bun. We haven't even gotten to the fact that this is a pizza place. Dinner's in NY have been fan-f**ckingtastic. This place was a 30 minute wait. The first place that we had to wait and it was well worth it. Have you ever heard of sweet and savory because this place delivers and then some. First off... it's loud, there may be some voice raising. It evs and flows... so sometimes it will get quiet, right as you say a swear word, but don't worry it's all part of the plan. So this was like meal number 4 of the day so I was a little hungry not crazy hungry. So what did we do? We ordered four pizzas out of respect for all you yelp readers out there. Do not forget... this isn't for me, it is for you. (Martyr complex). We ordered 2 colonies, and they were on point. Sweet, spicy and flavor. Every part of my tongue was titillated with each ensuing bite (I am really proud of that line right there). The jalapenos are a great kick and the little bit of honey makes this into a very interesting bite. The Emily was unreal to the max. Similar as above with a little sweetness and mozzarella but with no spice. Personally I favored this pizza because of its emphasis on the sweet and savory and it wasn't charred as much as the colony was. Last, and last in flavor as well, was the Lady Pizza Girl. I liked it, but didn't love it I preferred the other to pies and wish we would have just had two of each but once again... my greatness as a yelper of the people broke through and I tried 3 pizzas for you, and didn't even throw up. We got both of the desserts but honestly we were a little pooped at this point, way over stuffed with food and yet we still enjoyed the banana pudding and s'mores calzone. Although the calzone was surprisingly... very much a calzone. That is no fault of the businesses just our own for not taking the name literally. THE VERDICT: This place has got cocktails, pizza, burgers, desserts, you name it. Each one is an all-star food choice in its own right. Emily was a must try for me. After seeing all those videos on the burger I was like: I have to go here. It's a super small restaurant, good service, good food. If you are going for dinner, make a reservation. Also they have limited burgers at dinner but for lunch they make unlimited ones. I would recommend going for lunch, I walked in and got a table in 10 minutes. I got the burger, I got it medium rare, which I shouldve probably done medium since it was already dripping with sauce. It was one of the better burgers I have ha & It has alot of sauce and onions, so things will get messy. It was definitely good quality and flavor. So, I didn't have the burger, because they were out by the time I got there. Maybe the burger is better than the pizza and would justify a better review. It costs $26, so I expect it is good. We had the Camp Randal, the truffle pizza, and another I can't remember. Crust was good on the pizza, but not as good as other similar places. Couldn't tell the different between the red sauce and the pink sauce. Felt like the cheese was low quality, and the rest of the toppings didn't really do anything for me, except for the truffle pizza, which I liked. I've been trying a bunch of the new pizza places recently, and this was probably my least favorite. I prefer Speedy Romeo, Emmy Squared, and Ops to Emily. Not sure where to fit Roberta's in. We had a great experience here. The ambiance is wonderful, and albeit small, feels very comfortable. We made a reservation about a month in advance and the restaurant was packed, I'm not sure how accommodating they are with walk-ins. We had a special of carrots with ricotta and they were delicious. Each had two cocktails @ 14 dollars each. So, they went for about $150! I know this sounds like a lot but It is entirely realistic. I had the burger (no substitutions) and two cocktails for $58.69. plus a 10 dollar tip with no pizza. That much money could have netted them so much better value! Arguably better food as well. The place is cramped. The chairs were just wood, no upholstery. The staff was aloof. I don't get it. The idea that this is the best burger in New York is subjective and it was lost on me. The pretzel looking roll was not particularly pretzel tasting. The grease factor made it a self inflicted wound, especially as oversized as it was. Tiny little gherkins just upped the snob factor. The waffle fries in earlier reviews are gone. Too bad, I'm a fan of those! They've been replaced by a much less festive and less labor intensive shoe string version reminiscent of McDonalds. Everything here is done with amazing quality. Started with the wings, which had a very unique sauce that worked very well, and had a great crisp in each bite. The colony was incredIble. Every bite was packed with delicious flavors and top notch ingredients. The burger was everything you can hope for in a burger. We were in town for an event at Barclays center and was looking for the best pizza in Brooklyn. I believe we found it. Cute little spot that was easy to get too. Hostess was friendly and sat us right away. Place is small but cozy. We shared two pies. A vodka and an Emily. Vodka pie had a strong onion flavor in the sauce which gave it some depth. Emily was just amazing. Pistachio honey and truffle white pizza. The combo worked so well it was literally one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. Both pizzas were cooked perfectly and had a good char on the bottom. Drinks are fun and creative. I had a vodka drink with sparkling wine lemon and cherry ice cubes. (Don't Judge. I was on vacation and it's ok to drink girly drinks lol). My only regret is I didn't have the burger which I read so much about that is absolutely amazing. I've been here a couple of times. Reservations are necessary, since the dining room is very small. It has a very laidback vibe, they play rock music and the decoration feels as if you're at someone's house. The pizzas are divided into red, white, pink (vodka sauce) and green (tomatillo sauce). All pizzas have a very thin crust and are medium sized. I would say a pizza feeds one person. My favorites are the colony (love the pepperoni) and the classic (can't go wrong with this one!), although I have tried the vodka (a bit salty for my taste) and the aloha attitude (amazing flavor combination, it is just not a pizza I would have everyday. I love the smokiness of the bacon combined with the sweet pineapple). I love the atmosphere and the pizzas. I like this place for a casual dinner. read more

Came on a Sunday around 7pm, we were seated quickly but service was lacking. Took a while for our orders to be taken. When we finally placed our orders, the table next to us got their food before us even though they ordered after us. Perhaps understaffed in my opinion. Anyways, as for the food... we had the Horseshoe Fries and The Colony. Very unique fries, served in a skillet with a hidden soft egg inside. If you were to compare it to other Fries, I'd give it a 6/10. But concept and flavor was a 9/10. The fries were very soggy except for the top pieces... The Colony was FABBBB. Loved every single bite and didn't want it to be over. Only criticism -- the crust was soggy... one of those slices that when you pick up, everything falls off. Ahhhhh that's a nightmare and pizza shouldn't do that! But serious a packed bite, jalapeños and pepperoni made up for the lack of structure. It was slightly smoked, but so juicy; the caramelized onion nicely balanced the slightly salty sauce; the pretzel bun was so soft and fluffy; the cheddar cheese... I have no words. They were just, incredible, symphonic, bites. Emily pizza: how could I possibly order a pizza with honey on it? This pizza, arguably a cute rendition of a pizza-version of baklava (plus truffle), can be your fav if you love sweet things. I found it nevertheless both delicious and torturing because baklava is my absolute nightmare. My bf had lots of fun just watching how I got tormented by a slice of pizza - nothing is more sensual than pain, arguably. All washed down with some bubbly lambrusco - life was not so bad. The burger has a very flavorful sauce that explodes in your mouth when you bite into it. After eating it halfway I felt the sauce was too overpowering and didn't want to finish it. You should split the burger with someone so that you don't grow tired of it. The colony pizza however is great. Despite this, I made it out to Emily to try the famous burger and it did not disappoint. It's a solid burger, with great quality meat and a substantial amount of melted cheese. I'm not sure if the pretzel bun really did much for me. I'd say it's definitely one of NY's best burgers, but $26 is still pretty steep. They make great white pizzas 3. Their tomato sauce is super flavorful I have only ever ordered delivery and I have never been disappointed.
