Terrible customer service !!! I don't care how good a product you sell if You have crappy people working in your establishment. My wife and I stopped in right before closing today and the young girl who was working behind the counter had the worst attitude I've ever seen in my life. Dear Emma's owner, My visit was on Friday, June 14, 2024. I am providing the date, so the owners know who was working on that particular date. I have no idea what or who gave this young lady her attitude,, but it was unacceptable. My only regret is not knowing this place was here earlier! The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were delicious! Thick and fluffy! The essence of lemon was delightful. Maple pecan whipped butter was a nice touch! Pure Maple Syrup leveled up. Got them with eggs, bacon and country potatoes, great flavor and crisp on potatoes and bacon. Eggs could be focussed on more with fluffiness, maybe a sprinkle of fresh grated cheese? But this foodie has high standards. Others may think perfection? My 17 yr old daughter got the Cali Cubano Sandwich that looked and smelled amazing! She said it was really good! I also ordered all 4 salads to try later for lunch. My beet salad was delicious! The pickled onions on all were a nice touch! The chicken bbq was demolished by my 14 year old daughter and the quinoa chicken, devoured by my 17 year old! My husband loved the Asian Chicken. I'd say you can't go wrong with any of these choices! All fresh, quality, "added touch" ingredients! The pastries and other desserts all looked divine! Quality work being done in this bakery/cafe! What to say....the only drawback is they're not open at night for when that pie craving hits!! Outstanding pies and muffins. The huge chewy chocolate chip cookie was a buttery winner, as was the cheese cake! There was a bit of hesitation in ordering the cheesecake, as it was labeled as "vanilla" cheesecake, which most all cheesecakes have a tad bit in them, but are called "plain"cheesecake. I don't love a lot of vanilla anything. But upon the first bite, it was fantastically cheesy, with no overbearing vanilla flavor. And it was a nice generous slice! The almond croissant -- putting sliced almonds on top of a croissant does not make it an almond croissant. Almond paste inside of a croissant makes it an almond croissant. There was a bit of a custardy mixture in the middle, but no almond paste. The size of the croissant was huge, so if it were to have the actual almond paste inside it would have been well worth the $5.50. I'd love to know if there was a mistake on the bakers part yesterday or if almond paste is just not a thing at Emma's. We bough two and only ate half of one so I'll incorporate into some bread pudding with the rest. We will be back, when in Salinas, because we've stopped in before for a strawberry crème puff something or other and that was delicious as well. read more

I regularly order the Salinas Valley Bowl or their croissant breakfast sandwich. Both are absolutely delicious. Their baked goods are to die for and everything I've tried to good. One of my current favorites are their strawberry croissants. TI've forced Emma's baked goods on everyone in my life and now they love coming here too. read more

Wow. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with pecan butter!!! We had those for breakfast and added the extras which included eggs, country potatoes and bacon or sausage. It was definitely enough for two people, so don't let the price scare you! It's a small space with only two tables, so while we waited for breakfast we both drooled over all of the luscious looking pastries. First of all, call first because they close at 6 pm. Their kitchen closes at 4 pm but bakery items are still available until 6. I discovered this gem while waiting for a prescription and discovered the most blueberry pie I've ever had! Everything is so fresh and delicious. So I had to go back for lunch and I had the cheeseburger to go. I inadvertently stumbled onto the best burger in town! I'll definitely be going back to try other items. Emma's has a simple lunch menu, just four salads and four sandwiches, but each one looks like a winner. We had a Monterey chicken on ciabatta and a beet salad with chicken. Very tasty! There are two 2-top tables inside and two more small tables on the sidewalk. You wouldn't go to Emma's without sampling from the bakery case. We had a strawberry croissant- another good choice.
