Great bakery, coffee shop, and dessert shop. I most recently had a plain Caffe Macchiato and Pain Swiss. The Pain Swiss was a croissant-like pastry with vanilla cream and chocolate chip. Both were perfect! The decor and ambience were great as well.

I enjoyed my pomegranate dessert and liked how they had some unique fruits like pear too that other cafes don't have. The worker was also nice and explained which dessert she enjoyed the best. The shell was thin and crisp which worked well with the jammy filling and cake. It was around $14-15 after tax which is pretty pricey, so I would say this is good to try once. I am curious to come back and try the other flavors eventually!

10 out of 10 from presentation to taste. Texture was nice and soft melted in my mouth and the flavor was amazing, and not too sweet just perfect.

Emmy is hands-down one of my favorite coffee spots. Whether you need a drink, a quick bite, or a productive environment to study or work, it checks every box. They have plenty of seating and stay open late, which is super convenient. I most recently got the pistachio croissant, which was absolutely delicious. They have tons of other pastries and menu options. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved the strawberry fruit tart, the flavor was super succulent. The cream and jelly filling wasn't too sweet but tasted like a strawberry cream almost with a cake layer at the bottom. I loved it! Will be back to try the other desserts

I've noticed that sometimes it's not always consistent. Although still very good, it's not amazing as I first experienced.

Cute bakery. Cute desserts. Good service. The mango and cacao was good. Not too sweet. The crossant with strawberry and custard was ok. Crepe was good.

Yum, here at Emmy French Corner you will find some really good baked goods and other desserts, including crepes. You can also get a couple different sub sandwiches. Coffee is available. When we arrived at around 11am on a Sunday, we were the only customers. But within a few minutes, the shop was filled with people. Service was friendly and responsive. Even though I didn't see brewed coffee on the menu, I did espy what I thought was a coffee maker. Still, I went ahead with an Americano. It was decent. I ordered a pistachio cookie. With dabs of white chocolate, it was excellent with a pronounced pistachio flavor. My niece ordered a hefty-sized strawberry croissant. It had a delicious filling. JP ordered the 3D Pomegranate dessert. It had a nice texture and light pleasant pomegranate flavor. There's several tables at Emmy's so you can enjoy your purchases here.

Their dessert are really good. I got the Tarte Emmy: A buttery tart shell filled with airy pistachio mousse and a smooth raspberry crémeux. The perfect balance between the nutty richness of pistachio and the fruity tang of raspberry refined, fresh, and irresistible. It was delicious!! However their Chai would not recommend. Its not chai, its syrup and milk. Thats not true chai unfortunately. Always ask how they make the drinks just incase. Overall the service was fine and the ambiance is pretty.

Really modern bakery in the Shaw neighborhood! Had to swing by when I saw the assortment of pastries on Instagram. Ended up picking up a pain au chocolat and loved it. It came out freshly baked and it definitely tasted divine. The counter employees were also super friendly and made sure I got the best pick! Would definitely come back again

As we walked back to the U Street, 13th street, Metro, my niece spotted this restaurant and said it was a TikTok place :) Not as busy on a Friday night. Tiny sitting areas however. Nice, bright and clean. She got a mango and strawberry pastry (or something). Both items came to $28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Mango was GOOOOOOOOOOOD, strawberry not so good All workers were pleasant

This is one of the cutest little French bakeries in DC. I just love the overall ambiance even though it's simple. I stopped by earlier today to try their viral cakes. I got the strawberry cake and it was ok. I expected it to be much sweeter and I wanted more cake. The service was nice and they were pretty quick, these pastries are pricey so be prepared for that. Clean, cute, and cozy. Perfect for a little date.

With Emmy, they are known for their fruit shaped desserts, and they excel at that. The mango dessert I had was whimsical, fun, and didn't compromise on flavor given the presentation. I wanted to try more fruits but they were sadly out of it. This is what they're known for and I'd suggest coming here for that. When I went, it was packed and crowded. I got the cheesecake which was one-dimensional and had a texture that was more like a sponge cake. I had a friend that also came here after me that said customer service for her was a bit lacking.

Masa gnocci was a little overcooked this time but still yummy. Beef arepa is a classic dish to get at the royal; two people can easily share one arepa. Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full. The ivy wrapping the entire exterior of the building is stunning -- it feels like the cafe grew right out of the earth itself. The garden is lush, intentional, and beautiful, and the grapevine patio pulls you in like you've stumbled onto a secret courtyard in the middle of the city. I rode the metro over an hour from Alexandria for this and the exterior alone told me the commute was worth it. The iced coffee delivered. The vibe inside is warm, neighborhood-cozy, and full of character. This place has a soul that most coffee shops spend years trying to manufacture. Four stars instead of five -- and here's my honest feedback with love. The outdoor seating is gorgeous but the trees overhead drop baby spiders constantly. I watched them land on my table, my drink, and my arm more times than I could count. The birds hopping onto tables scavenging for crumbs added to the chaos. For a patio this beautiful, the experience deserves better. The fix is already in the DNA of this place. Weaving lavender, peppermint, chrysanthemums, citronella grass, marigolds, and rosemary throughout the patio would naturally deter spiders and mosquitoes while making the garden even more breathtaking. The fragrance would become part of the experience. Big Bear Cafe is already special. The ivy, the garden, the coffee, the community energy -- it all works. A few intentional additions to the patio and this place is untouchable. I will absolutely be back.

I visited Bluestone around 4 PM in the afternoon, so it was a bit too late for coffee, but I love that they offer a wide selection of non-coffee drinks. I got their golden latte, which includes turmeric, almond milk, and a few other spices; it feels warm (both literally and figuratively) and is a lovely caffeine-free drink that helps me feel healthy as the weather gets colder. And to counterbalance any potential health benefits I might have gotten from the golden latte, I also got their chocolate chip cookie, which was massive -- almost the size of the plate they served it on. It was a solid cookie, slightly chewy but with a nice crust, although it was a bit lacking in chocolate chips. As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
