I was here to celebrate a birthday with girlfriends. It was an issue to get separate checks for 9 even thought at 7:30 we were literally the only patrons in the restaurant. Terribly overpriced. A side of fries-$7. The chicken parm was blah. Maybe pizza was better?? After the server (who was great besides the initial stance on separate checks) caved on the checks, our service was great. Food not so much. Drinks were great, but frankly should be for $15. I won't be back. read more

Cute place in the Summit! The pizza sorta met expectations but wasn't worth the money. I only recommended this place to my friend as the pizza here resembles a slightly elevated Pizza Hut thick cut square slice which I knew he loves- but we didn't expect the pie here to be almost indistinguishable from the fast food chain. Never heard of Emmy's before but was walking by and it seemed like a real nice place. Decided to give it a try and well it was one of the best pizza I have had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is not just your typical pizza shop. We were very excited to try Emmy but were very disappointed. The pizza was very gummy. It tasted like the dough wasn't cooked all the way through. We told our waiter and he didn't offer to replace the meal with another option, nor did the manager speak with us about removing the items from our bill. We paid full price for 2 regular pizzas, left hungry and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Flipping through OpenTable for a last minute reservation I saw Emmys. I've never had to get a reservation at a pizza place so I was really excited to try it! Tucked in next to pottery barn they really transformed this space into a cute little establishment. (I for one remember shopping at this exact location when it was a retail store) the decor and feel was modern and trendy. Tables were packed in and small, get ready to know your neighbors cause you will be seated RIGHT NEXT TO THEM. We were unclear how a pizza was even going to fit on the table, luckily we just ordered one. You are never given anything over an appetizer sized plate so they were well aware their tables were small and space was limited. Our waitress was really sweet, we didn't see her much but she was sweet. Luckily they leave a glass bottle of water on the table for refills. My husband ordered a coke. She quickly noted refills for cokes are $4 as they are the Mexican bottled cokes. That wasn't great seeing that it was the only coke option. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and I thought they were good. I however REALLY like garlic and I even thought there was too much on it and had to scrape some off. My husband went for the pieces with not as much and scraped a lot off as well. He didn't care for them and said the sauce wasn't great either. I was still hopeful and We waited a LONG time for our pizza.. like two Mexican cokes later long time.. when it hit the table we were both like ehhhhh... not sure why because we waited forever but the temperature wasn't even hot, I'd say saying warm is being generous. My husband said this tastes a lot like pizza huts deep dish except PH has better sauce. I only ate one piece cause it just wasn't good. I didn't care for the sauce on top and the toppings just weren't cooked right all seemed overcooked then they just poured sauce on the top to cover up their error. I did however like the crunchy crust corners (reminded me of why we all used to be obsessed with little ceasars baby pan pan pizzas) The waitress came back seeing that we both just ate one piece and didn't even ask if we liked it or if everything was ok, just said do you want dessert? It was a no from us and we paid and left. Price wise it was pretty cheap under $45. After looking at the images online from the burgers we wanted to go back another day and try those but after a few hours at home and both of us having very bad stomach aches we decided it's a no go. Food is excellent and decor is adorable which I wasn't surprised by based on other locations I've visited. Like any new restaurant, service takes a minute but I would say that was the most disappointing part. We had reservations but the host was clearly panicked and didn't have tables for reservation holders. She told us our table was being bussed and gave it to someone else. We sat at the bar and had to ask for waters, silverware, etc. Hoping they can work these kinks out so I can bump this review up. read more

Brand new business alert! Cute pizza spot at the Summit. They are brand new so service is learning and therefore a bit slow, but they are definitely trying. We stopped in for appetizers and the two we had were great! We got the zia fries and the cheesy garlic bread (pictured). We'll be back to try their squared pizza. Nice place, good location. Had reservations but still had to wait, which set the stage for the rest of the experience. There was a wait in getting our orders, drink orders weren't taken, entrees arrived after a lengthy wait, with no appetizers. So we cancelled those. So there we were. Some had food, some didn't. End it up canceling more of our order in an effort to end this dining experience sooner. Still got charged for the appetizers we never got, had to get them removed. Spoke to the manager, zero accountability taken. He could not have cared less. I will say there was a bartender that helped out and he was great, really tried to help. I'm easy to please, I promise. I was yelp elite for 5 years and got tired of posting but this experience was so bad it inspires me to post. This is our second visit here. The first time the service was lacking it it was fairly new so we thought we'd give it another try. Bad choice. They service was worse this time. 30 minutes to get a drink once u order. Our server literally ignored us after taking our order. It had now bee 55 minutes since we ordered a pizza and nothing. And more importantly no one seems to care. Not our server, not the "manager" not the person we asked to check on food and never came back to tell us. This place will not last. U can have the greatest food but when not only you service is bad but no one cares it just won't worth it. Please whatever u do don't waste ur time or your money. read more

It's about time Birmingham got some Detroit style pizza worth bragging about! Was super excited to try this place, the ambiance is pretty cool for a pizza joint, simple but cozy on the inside. The service was a little slow but with it being a Sunday afternoon and a new restaurant we didn't mind waiting for what was about to bless our tastebuds. The Zia fries were out of this world, something so simple but yet so delicious!! We went with the Colony and Big Hawaiian pizzas and they were far beyond what i was expecting! I love how each piece no matter where you grab will have that crispy edge and piled with toppings! We will definitely be back to try so much more!! read more

Me and my boyfriend had reservations and went here for date night on a Friday . There were many open two seater tables however we unfortunately got sat in a corner table in the front of the restaurant that barely had any room to sit comfortably and was next to an incredibly loud party. The mixed drinks were nothing special for the price. We ordered the Big Hawaiian which was pretty tasty and cooked well. For the amount of bread these pizzas have we just wish it had more cheese to have a better balance. read more

I've eaten at this location twice since it opened a few months ago, once at lunch and once for dinner. We made reservations both times and were seated promptly. This location holds up to the ones in Brooklyn and the West Village. From drinks, to apps, to pizza and burgers, everything was great. The pizza is Detroit style (thick, doughy crust) so if that is not a kind you like, you need to go with the burgers instead. Prices are on point with other elevated area restaurants. This is not going to be a cheap pizza place. They use quality ingredients and with anything, you get what you pay for. They do have some great lunch deals, so check it out then first if you don't want to invest more money at dinner for your first time there. Services has been good both times. Servers kept us up to date in the status of our meals and checked in enough without being overbearing. Atmosphere is cute and comfortable. Very clean. read more

I always love trying new places. I looked up the menu before to see if it was kid friendly and they had 3 great options. I will say the seating is not set up for kids. We took our stroller and could hardly get to the back where our table was. The hostess kindly helped us move tables but we ended up having to put our stroller back in the car. The seating is very tight which makes it really hard for kids high chairs. I saw another family have to move tables because the high chair was in the way. I wouldn't bring my kids back here. They also have the option for carrot sticks for a side on kids menus which is great but I wish they had one more option like fruit etc. We also got there during a shift change and it took a long time to get someone to take our drink orders. Our waitress was very kind but they seemed very busy and not super attentive. I think this might be just opening and possibly will change later. I would like to give it another try to see if the speed of service changes. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed ours just took a bit. read more

We decided to try out Emmy Squared after eating Uncle G's and venturing into Detroit-style pizza. We showed up as walk-ins on a week night. I would say the restaurant was about half full when we arrived. The hostess was not up front when we arrived, and stood for about 5-10 minutes before being acknowledged and seated (despite making eye contact with several bartenders). For starters we tried the cheesy garlic sticks - nothing to write home about but definitely filling. We tried the Hawaiian pizza, which was sweeter than we were expecting - perhaps due to the pineapple (or a chili glaze). All in all more than enough food for 2 people. Overall, our experience was okay though service was somewhat lacking. I still think Uncle G's is better if comparing them head-to-head. read more

Mediocre food, even worse service. So we went to this place for my friend's birthday. First of all, the prices for food and drinks is outrageous for the amount and quality of food you get. $15-20 for a personal size pizza and $6-8 for a beer. Then, our waitress checked on us a total of 2 times in 2 hours. It wasn't busy. When she did finally come with our food, over 45 minutes after we ordered, a whole entree was missing. Our waitress never noticed a whole person had no food in front of them for 20 minutes, we had to get a manager to bring her food. Finally, the food wasn't fantastic. It was overpriced and just like any other pizza you might get from any other restaurant. The portions are small for what you get and the taste is nothing to write home about. So I'm in town for business and rarely do I chance a place with only two reviews. BUT! I'm not sure I can express just how much y'all need to come eat here. Yes they have only been opened 8 days and still have some learning curves. But the pizza was AMAZING!! The crust was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Had a lot of crispy edges which were great!! The staff was friendly and helpful and honest! If they didn't know the answer they found out! Impressive. I'm up here between 4-6 times a year. We went on a busy a thursday night with no wait time. We were seated in a two seater in the middle if the aisle right between the front desk and another table which was a bit uncomfortable because it was little room for servers to walk and so we were constantly getting out if the way. We ordered the Cheesy garlic sticks for appetizer and Big Ang Pizza. The Garlic sticks were to die for 8/10. They're very similar to North Italia's Truffle garlic bread but pizza style. It came with spicy red sauce that was not spicy which is great for me and kids. The Bug Ang came out 20 mins later and it was kind of a disappointment. All the toppings fell off and there was just no flavor besides from the banana peppers. We ordered pineapples on the pizza as well and in the menu, it said $2 extra but we were charged $3. I didn't say anything since they were so busy but that did raise suspicion. Ambiance was good and they had a great playlist on that night. The garlic sticks are the only thing that I would come back for and if it wasn't for that, I would've rated this place 3/5. read more

Picked up a pizza to go on Friday night. The pizza is very different but actually really good. I tend to prefer thin crust and do not like a lot of dough normally but this Detroit style pizza is so good. Sauce really fresh as well. I was very disappointed that they took the meatballs off the appetizer menu. We tried the wings instead and those weren't nearly as good. They were huge full size wings which aren't my favorite. Nastiest Pizza Ever. I'm from Detroit and was so excited to see a Detroit style pizza place one mile for where I was staying. I read the reviews and several of them said the dough was uncooked in the middle. Others said the pizza was great so I decided to give it a try. I tried to add well done on the door dash order but it would not allow me to so I called the restaurant directly. I said please make sure the pizza is well done but not burnt. I spent 60$ on the two pizzas and had to throw them both out BECAUSE THE DOUGH WAS UNCOOKED! This truly was the nastiest pizza I have ever eaten. I called the restaurant after and said I was the guy who called an hour ago to make sure the dough was cooked and it was raw and they said OK and hung up. We had a great experience at lunch today! Our waiter, James, was helpful and our food was delicious. We had the Italian salad (all salads are large and shareable for at least 4 people) and the Big Hawaiian pizza. One pizza is really just enough for two but we managed with three people, because of the excess salad. It does take a little while for the pizzas to cook, as they are deep dish, but in our case, worth the wait! We will be back! read more
