Emmy Square has finally hit the D.C area. Well, it's been opened for sometime, but I just found out about a week ago. Anyways, I've gotten the opportunity to have eaten at the New York and Philadelphia location. And both establishments didn't disappoint - food was amazing! So of course; I had to check out what D.C had to bring. When I got to the Shaw location I was happily greeted and seated immediately. I ordered a few amazing drinks, then on to my food order. I'm a creature of habit so I went with my usual. I ordered the Ronni, Le Big Matt burger, and the Colony. After having these amazing menu items at the two previous locations, I had to see if D.C would be just as great, and man, it was! The food was amazing, and so was the service. I honestly didn't have to wait long for my food come out. Everything came out at a timely manner. Overall, I would definitely give D.C an A! They really delivered on every aspect. I will definitely be back. Although, this time around I'll just have to Uber. As most of us know, parking can be a pain in D.C. read more

So grateful I can order Emmy Squared delivery during Covid! Man, the deep dish Margarita is incredible. They separate out the burrata for delivery so it doesn't soak into the pie. You need to warm it up when it arrives and then it tastes just perfect. My partner likes the Colony2 just as much but I'm all in for that Margarita. The hamburger was awesome too! Oh and don't forget to grab some cheesy garlic sticks too. That garlic parm sauce is so delicious and plentiful that I scraped the container for leftovers and saved it for later! They use Caviar for delivery which is supposedly the delivery service that is most kind to restaurants/delivery folks! read more

My friend and I tried Emmy Squared on a Friday night, a few days after it opened. The inside is cute/casual and was definitely crowded. We ordered the waffle fries to start and they were very good. Then we ordered the margherita pizza to share. Normally I like thin-crust neopolitan-style pizza and was a little nervous to try a pizza with a thick crust. My friend and I waited more than an hour for our pizza to come out. The manager came and apologized it was taking so long and said it would be 4 more minutes. Ten minutes later, it still had not arrived so I spoke to the waiter and he apologized again and said there was some sort of mix-up in the kitchen. Since it's a new restaurant, I'll excuse whatever happened. The pizza finally came and it was amazing. I will totally be back just for the pizza...and I would totally order it to go or for delivery if they ever have that option. The pizza is baked in a cast-iron pan so the edges are crispy and the inside is soft. The ingredients on top -- the sauce, the burrata and basil were all delicious. read more

This is a great casual place in an up and coming area. Chill vibes and pretty busy inside. The food is sooooo good and the pizza is unique. Tried the mushroom one (angel pie) and it was semi decadent and the crust was flaky but thick at the same time. Wings are a lil spicy and so flavorful. Really love the pizza! I was sad to see Kyirisan go Emmy Squared is a great replacement. I don't know Detroit style pizza (other than at nearby Red Light) and New York pizza aficionados will contend that it's not real pizza but it's pretty damn good. The only annoying part is that the cheese sinks through the wire rack that it's served on, so that if you don't eat it fast you'll lose out on some of the cheesy goodness. The waiter recommended the spicy chicken sandwich and burger (the Big Matt), which we found off for a pizza place but he was right. The burger apparently has won awards from other branches in NYC and Nashville and it deserves some DC praise now. Easily one of the best in the city -- muuuuch better that the overhyped version at Le Diplomate. The chicken sandwich is enormous, with 2 large pieces of chicken. It's probably 3 times the size of the Popeyes version that everyone is losing their minds over but unfortunately the Emmy version is actually too hot. I like spice but this chicken is borderline not enjoyable. Awesomely friendly staff and good beer selection too. BTW, happy hour is Wed-Fri 4-6pm so not ideal timing but a good deal with half off beers and wine. read more

Service was meh at best. Let me articulate not welcoming more on the colder end. Got pizza it was still doughy. Bartender told them I wanted it cooked longer. No.... It was under cooked. After a little snafu the first time we ordered delivery (got the wrong order from Caviar and there was nothing Emmy Squared could do about it), I wasn't sure what to expect on the second attempt. But I'm so glad we tried this place again. The pizza is amazing! The crust is thick and chewy and crispy and wonderful. We've had the Colony2, the Roni Supreme, and the Margarita. All were delicious, but I think the Colony2 was my favorite. There's something about the sweet heat of that pizza that gets me every time. I haven't eaten inside the restaurant yet, but I will definitely continue to get takeout / delivery from here. The pizza is worth it! read more

I have waited what seems like forever for this place to open and it didn't disappoint. The burger was out of this world. Update - They refunded me for the overcharge from my last visit so that was nice. Gave it another shot last night and it didnt disappoint. Ordered the Big Al, EC Shaw, Chicken Parm sandwich, and cheesey garlic bread and all were great! (And not overly salty as mentioned in my last review). Our server was Jessica and hands down some of the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Very friendly, attentive, and interactive while joking around with us. read more

Emmy Squared lived up to the hype! To start, our waitress, Jessica, was so kind, welcoming, and accommodating as we got to the restaurant at a later hour. We started with the Cheesey Garlic Bread, which certainly was everything and more that I would expect of a item of this name. We did the Good Paulie white pizza, which has smoked mozz, caramelized onions, and sausage. The caramelized onions make the pizza for me, and I personally wished there were more on each slice as they were so delicious, but the pizza was scrumptious nonetheless. My quarantine pizza craving hit hard this weekend (we all have that craving, right? It's not just me?) and Emmy Squared has been on my list since it opened in DC. I ordered delivery on a Friday around 4:45 through Uber Eats. The menu was pretty bare--most of the pizzas were sold out, unfortunately. I chose the vodka pizza and didn't wait long for it to arrive. They had it to the driver within 10 minutes, and he was at my door a few minutes after 5pm. Just like the note on the box said, I reheated then pizza for a few minutes in the oven (it was still warm, but I wanted it really toasty) and dug in! The pizza itself was good. Vodka sauce isn't the strongest flavor, and if the other pizzas I liked hadn't been sold out, I would've gone for the pepperoni or another flavor. But the crust was good! And they packaged parmesan and basil separately so you can add it to your liking. I will say the pizzas are really small--easily one per person--and I was a little surprised to see that for the price. Though the food didn't wow me, Emmy Squared was efficient and satisfied my pizza craving! read more

I am always on the lookout for a good Nashville styled hot chicken. Emmy squared has the best types of hot chicken salad and detroit style pizza (the two we ordered) which are full of flavors. I truly enjoyed my hot chicken salad which despite it's huge proportion, I could still enjoy. Wow. This food is so damn good I had to sit down just to gather my thoughts mid meal and write this review. I didn't even know what day or time it was because the food just brought me to a state of unconsciousness. Wow. I've been eyeing E2 for a while on caviar/ue and was always too hungry to try a new place (if you get what I mean). I also knew I wanted to try a sandwich because I felt I'd get more value for the same entree ticket, plus the photos. I did however want to see what the pizza was working with so I ended up ordering the cheese sticks to test the waters of the pizza dough/cheese/sauce ratio. Plus the green sauyce looked appetizing. I also ordered the fries, zita style and the chicken sandwich - judge yourself, not me. I ordered via ue, contactless of course, and picked up the bag- heavy. You never know what the value of fries and pizza is going to be in dc. This felt like substance. Upon opening each container, jaw agape. The first thing I tried were the fries. Delicious. Real ingredients. Some of the fries arrived a bit softer, I'm going to chalk it up to delivery. Thick cut bacon, none of that cheap cheap, and as any girl w a southern mama will tell you- pimento cheese on potatoes- yes ma'am. Amazing! The next thing I took a bite of was the chicken sandwich. Wow. I don't even know how to describe these flavors. Or that sauce. Or the other sauce. Is it Sichuan? Nashville hot? Emmys grandmas? Everything just works. And it's not hot/spicy. If I had to give it a word, it's just- jazzy? And a lot of places are doing the whole chicken thigh/breast mondo sandwich thing and they're getting it ass backwards, not E2. This is easily 2 meals worth of a sandwich. Wow. The crunch. I mean. I'm still thinking about that bite. Last, the cheese sticks. Perfect. I'm glad I got them, so I could clearly write this review. The cheese and dough used, provided a good intro to what the pizza would taste like, and for me I made the right decision. I think the winners here are the sides and sandwiches. Well done E2. It's rare in dc to get it right on the first try via delivery AND feel like you got your money's worth. I was super excited to try this place before we went over to 930 club for a show. Unfortunately, my partner and I had a really bad experience here. Obviously, restaurants are still struggling due to pandemic woes & it seemed this one may be understaffed. While there were plenty of tables open during our stay, our service was really, reaaalllyyy bad. We had a reservation and got sat quickly, immediately ordered an app and drinks that came within 10-15 minutes. After this, our server did not return to us for over an hour to get our main order or get drink refills. He seemed very busy also handling to go orders. It was so bad that the table next to us started commenting on it. When we eventually did get our food, it was fine - the EC shaw pizza was solid but the Big Ang was a soupy mess. I was skeptical with the price and the "plastic" feel of the store, but my goodness this pizza is delicious. It's thick with a crispy outside and doughy inside. The sauce has really great flavor. It was also more filling than I was expecting, I couldn't quite finish the whole thing. I'd be more excited about it if the price was lower, but considering it's priced as some of the best pizza you can buy, it's barely meeting expectations. read more

Ordered the Le Big Matt Burger as well as the Emmy burger. For the month of March they have burger month so the Emmy burger is temporary. But I have to say these are some of the best burgers out there. Although the Emmy burger is my favorite, the Le Big Matt is right behind it. Also ordered waffle fries. Friends were not punctual and arrived 1 hour late minus one friend, so we had a 6 top to ourselves for an hour. Was good catching up. The pepperoni honey pizza was tha best. The cheesy garlic sticks were cheesy and garlic-y and tasty.
