I first discovered Emmy Squared while browsing local restaurants and boy am I glad I found them. I'm a big fan of thick crust pizza and I stand by that decision because I'm from Maryland, not New York, so I have the liberty to enjoy the controversial crust. I would show you photos of my orders but I simply do not have the patience to photograph my pizza while it's staring at me, waiting to be eaten. With that being said, the vodka pizza SLAPS, The Emmy is the last one I last ordered (like 3 days ago LOL) and it was so so good, and for some reason their salads are also incredible. Pro tip, if you are a fan of spice I highly encourage adding Calabrian Chillies to your pizza. If you're considering this spot for takeout, do it, you won't regret it. Man! Went to Emmy on Feb 21st, about an hour before closing. Very chill atmosphere. Super nice staff. I had the bobbing apple cocktail, cheesy garlic sticks and the Le Big Matt. The Drink wasn't overly sweet and had a nice kick to it. The bread was fresh for the sticks. The burger was AMAZING. Hands down one of the best I've ever had. There are some restaurants in this world that are pretty enough and have a cutesy enough name to fool people into believing that they have good food. That is the only explanation I can conjure for the heavy glaze of positive reviews for Emmy Squared. The fancy, coil filament lights must blind diners to the fact that they are eating a $21 dollar breadstick nicknamed a pizza. The shimmering silver wallpaper must distract them from noticing the excessive amounts of salt added to compensate for lack of actual ingredients. The attractive waitresses' fluttering eyelashes must take away all concerns about the dirty restrooms and wilting salad leaves. Maybe the DC triangle grids and Masonic pyramids have something to do with it? Just a few theories. read more

It was so embarrassing and intimidating to advertise all night among your friends to order from this restaurant and happily drive home with your pizza and when opening the box seeing this piece of garbage with burnt kale. I simply don't understand how the staff could see this and continue boxing it and hoping someone would call this a pizza! Did they have eyes on their heads? The smell of burnt kale filled our noses and could not enjoy the rest of our order. I just can't understand! What a great meal! We got everything to go: chopped cheese waffle fries, Le Big Matt Burger, Roni Supreme and the EC Shaw pizza. We got the small size of the waffle fries yet big portion and very yummy. It's different, with the toppings but we wanted different and yummy. The burger was outstanding. Because we took it to go, so we ate is 20 mins after ordering, the bun wasn't soggy. Good portion of sauce and toppings too! T her main highlight was the Ec Shaw pizza: Nashville hot chicken, blue cheese and red onion. The crust is amazing and you can tell they use the best ingredients. Love their to go system too! 4.5 stars, rounding up because they're doing a great job with the transition to delivery. We got the colony, the Quinn, and the angel pie. All were good, but the best was the colony, followed by the Quinn. All three had a great, crispy, authentically Detroit crust. The colony had the most complex flavors and I'm loving the honey-on-pizza trend. The Quinn, however, was beautiful in its simplicity and they clearly use really good cheese. The angel pie had a really nice volume of mushrooms, but the flavors weren't as strong as the other two. They're also doing several really smart things to cope with the transition to delivery. They're using a smaller menu, and turning off Caviar and Uber Eats if they get too busy. (This happened to us - we tried to order around 7, but couldn't put an order in. We called, and they explained they would be taking orders again in an hour. True to their word, the sites were live in an hour and we had our food within the delivery estimate.) They also attached a note explaining that the pizza gets cold in delivery and how to reheat it for the best experience. We did, and were glad for the advice. I'll definitely check them out in person once that's a thing we can do again, and in the meantime it's one of my new favorite delivery pizza places! read more

Ventured to Emmy Squared! And it was great! I've heard so many great things about this place and was excited to try. I initially I wanted to go to their Navy Yard location, however, we were in the area. The place was small inside with a nice intimate decor and I really loved the experience. We sat for hours and the service was really accommodating. For the food I shared the Le Big Matt Burger and the VIP pizza. The Le Big Matt burger is absolutely worth the hype and probably the best burger I've had in DC this far. The meat was cooked perfectly and each bite got better. I was left thinking that I shouldn't share this the next time I come. The VIP pizza was the MVP pizza, so it came with their vodka sauce, pesto sauce, marinara, and they topped it with pepperoni and Calabrian peppers. It was phenomenal! All the food was great. This place has some good wings and pizza! That's to start with. The atmosphere is great also, it a really good place to come and have a good time. Very lively and energetic. They have what they call "Detroit" style pizza. I'd never heard of that before, but boy am I glad to know about it now! Detroit style has something to do with the way the pizza is prepared. When you go ( because you will and should go) ask your server for the details. It's a somewhat slow process so don't go when you're in a rush. It's not terribly slow, but longer than you may expect initially. The pizza is worth the wait! It comes to you cheesy and hot stuffed with flavor. We had the Big Ang and it was Greeeeaaatt! It's a square deep dish pizza, not Chicago style deep but deep just the same. You're going to love it. If you're a big pizza eater order two. The pizzas are big enough to share for two, if you're not very hungry or are a lite eater. If you're hungry get two, that's how good the pizza is here. The service was really good and efficient, we sat at the bar because they were so busy. If you want to sit at a table be prepared to wait or make reservations before hand. They stay busy! My biggest gripe is the size of the pizza, it barely fills half the box! For $20+ these pizzas are the size of a personal pan. I ordered one for me and my partner and this would not have not fed two adults if I didn't improvise with side dishes from our house. I wish I had seen the other reviews on how they have cut the size of the pizza. The pizza is good but I wish it wasn't so greasy. Each of the pepperoni's were like bowls of oil. So grateful I can order Emmy Squared delivery during Covid! Man, the deep dish Margarita is incredible. They separate out the burrata for delivery so it doesn't soak into the pie. You need to warm it up when it arrives and then it tastes just perfect. My partner likes the Colony2 just as much but I'm all in for that Margarita. The hamburger was awesome too! Oh and don't forget to grab some cheesy garlic sticks too. That garlic parm sauce is so delicious and plentiful that I scraped the container for leftovers and saved it for later!
