This place is so great! My daughters loved the chicken empanadas so much they were fighting over the last piece. Very friendly service; will be a staple for when we are in the area.

Hidden gem in La Jolla! Empanada's are delicious and the people that work there are so lovely. Perfect for a quick & very tasty meal.

Lamb Empanada's are on point here! Real lamb!

Great tasting & filling empanadas, one of the best I've had. My favorite is the lamb, it's hard to find good lamb anywhere but here their lamb is very good. Their beef & ham & cheese ones are good too & so is their sauce, you can get spicy or regular, both times I came here they were very good. I love that they are not fried but baked & the crust is pressed tight & good & their well packed with meat. They have a good deal too, get 3 for $11.95, I don't come to La Jolla often I live in Chula Vista but for now on when I do I will go out my way to come here to get my Lamb Empanadas :)

Great empanadas as usual! This new location is in the same mini retail strip as the Taco Stand. I had a trio of empanadas: the breakfast with bacon, the corn and basil, and the monthly special, which came with cheese and onions. All the empanadas were very tasty and tasted even better with their chimichurri. The cheese and onions combination was delicious, and so was the corn and basil, which offered a touch of sweetness. The bacon and eggs empanada was very good too, but I would like to see some more bacon inside them. One thing all the three empanadas had in common was the great crust. They are baked to a golden brown and had good texture. Reheated them at home in a simple toaster oven works great or air fryer. Service is super friendly. The location has a few parking spaces in front and some inside seating.

The front window is an empanada. Cute.

Yum! We were hungry while waiting in line for Taco Stand and I'm so glad we branched out. The special (cheese, onion, and oregano) was amazing. We also tried the (ground) beef, veggie and mushroom. They were all delicious. The empanada dough was perfectly crisp at the edges and doughy with the filling. Service was amazing. This location is new and they are making an effort to get the word out. It's worth a try! We'll definitely be back for more.

There's a bunch of different eateries on Pearl Street, but there was no line and no waiting at the Empanada Kitchen on a Sunday evening. We enjoyed all of the flavors we got... mushroom and goat cheese, ham and cheese, lamb, chicken, and caprese as well as the chimichurri sauce (regular and spicy) that came on the side. The caprese was my fave. Nothing special about the crust of these empanadas, it didn't add much in terms of texture or flavor, but the ingredients inside each were really tasty. Service wasn't bad either, and indoor seating was available for us to dine in at this eatery, in a clean and casual, welcoming environment.

Love love love this spot! The empanadas are delicious, and I adore what the new owner is doing to transform the place into a cafe as well! The affogatos are scrumptious, and the music is always perfect for the vibe. The owner is so attentive, and takes care of your every need. I will be coming back!

This hidden gem behind Taco Stand and a pizzeria is a must stop! They had so many varies of empanadas, even an apple pie dessert one! We had the beef and ham and cheese ones. My husband and I absolutely loved it and we had to get more! We also tried the Italian sausage one that's a special and I love the extra spice it had- so yummy! Loved the chimichurri sauce, so much that we got a bottle to go! We don't live near by but when we come to visit La Jolla, we will definitely be back! A delicious gem!

Beef with chili churn mild on the side.

The empanadas tasted great I love the beef. The chili choir sauce was a great mix not too spicy. The service was fast and the cashier person was very helpful. Very quiet and welcoming.

Yum! Pretty tasty empanadas. Crispy texture and they don't skimp on the filling. My family grabbed a few empanadas while waiting in line for The Taco Stand. We got the Ham & Cheese, Ratatouille, and Caprese. All were flavored well and came out piping hot! I was surprised the caprese was really creamy, but overall delicious. The Ham & Cheese and Ratatouille were exactly what you'd expect.

It is located by a bunch of other restaurants and we went during happy hour and got three $6 mini burritos, a couple of beers, a salad, some beans, a green salad, some guac and a filet mignon taco. Our service was excellent and the beer was a tasty homemade brew. The Michelada was spot on as well. Star of the show was the filet mignon taco, but we loved all three of the mini burritos as well! Lots of great guacamole and tons of chips to use for dipping. My wife's beans were outstanding as well. Loved the huge decor in the paradise that is La Jolla! I loved everything about this place, it can get a little spendy, (It is La Jolla) but pretty reasonable during happy hour.(Get those mini burritos!) Five star all the way!

We got a Taco each as this was an early dinner. The kids ordered kids meal and got a really good amount of food and they loved it. Each kind of taco tasted good. Feels like they used good ingredients and made it well. It is on the expensive side though. Great place to sit and chill

My husband and I came to The Spot for the World Cup Final and showed up around 10:45 AM to find a pretty long line already forming. When the doors opened at 11, we were greeted and promptly seated by a lovely woman named Kat. Right away, she kindly explained that because of how busy they were, we would need to continue ordering in order to keep our table. Completely understandable considering it was the WORLD CUP FINAL! We also noticed they had signage throughout the restaurant explaining the same policy, so expectations were very clear from the start. My husband and I own a restaurant ourselves, so we tend to notice the little things when we're out. We were both so impressed watching Kat run around the entire restaurant making sure everyone was taken care of, refilling waters, checking on tables, helping the staff, and jumping in wherever she was needed. And somehow doing all of it in heels! Since there were only two of us and we were seated at a four-top, they occasionally sat other guests in the two empty seats at our table. Kat asked us every single time if we were comfortable sharing before seating anyone, which we really appreciated. It was incredibly busy, so we completely understood them wanting to make use of every available seat. Our server, Ryan, was also wonderful and attentive, especially considering how packed the place was! At one point, we watched Kat have to ask the table next to us to leave after they had closed out their check and apparently planned on staying for the rest of the game without ordering anything else. They were extremely rude to her and even shoved the booth table as they were getting up, which was completely unnecessary. She handled the entire interaction calmly and professionally despite their behavior. As restaurant owners ourselves, we know how difficult situations like that can be, especially during a huge event when you have people waiting outside for a table. And the food!! We had their pizza and it was TO DIE FOR!!! Seriously so good. Between the food, the service, and how well the staff handled such an insanely busy day, we had a fantastic experience. Kat and Ryan were great, and we will absolutely be coming back to The Spot next time we're in town!

The biggest challenge is deciding what to order because I want to try everything. I usually start with a cup of chowder and then choose either a plate, burrito, or sandwich. Most recently, I ordered the scallop burrito, which was fresh, flavorful, and served with tortilla chips. The food is simple, but the quality of the local, wild-caught seafood is the main reason to eat here. You can taste the freshness and quality of the fish, which is what you're paying for. It is on the expensive side, but the seafood is worth it. The dining experience is casual. You stand in line to place your order, receive a number, and then the food is delivered to your table. The restaurant is usually busy, so finding a table can be the most difficult part, but it's worth waiting for. The customer service is good, and the staff does an impressive job keeping the tables clean and cleared. If you prefer to cook at home, you can also purchase fresh fish from the market. That gives you the option to enjoy their seafood at home or dine in. Overall, El Pescador is a must-visit for fresh seafood and a great choice for anyone who appreciates high-quality, local, wild-caught fish.

It's a little pricey and looks kinda skimpy, but it's filling, the fish is super tasty and the spinach inside is a surprising, but nice touch. It doesn't leave you feeling horrible after. She loved her sourdough but said it was super salty. I don't think she'll be back unfortunately.
