Special A Chicken (3 chicken rolled tacos, beans and rice with a side of chips.

My family and I have been going to Maritza's over 30 years! This family restaurant is truly the BEST Mexican food in San Diego!! Carmen and her family are the kindest people. The rolled tacos taste just like my Mom's. I buy the salsa by the pint and cannot get enough of it. I have brought many friends here over the years and after I do, I cannot tell you how many times I have heard "Can we go to Maritza's again?!?". Thank you to Carmen and family!!

The food here is some of the best Mexican food I've had in my 7 years of being in San Diego! The portions are pretty fair for the amount. It's a family owned business of about 40 years and you can tell they are a staple in the neighborhood. People have there weekly visits here and you can see the excitement in their face for the upcoming meal. It's a small shop with some patrons picking up food to go and others sitting down with their kids. Looking forward to getting the carnitas on Wednesdays. Most importantly it is CASH ONLY

Favorite local mexican spot. Exceptional service and food. Family owned and operated!

We finally had a chance to check out this neighborhood spot. Service was great, and very welcoming. The Chile Relleno was good but soggy due to the sauce. The carne asada and chimichanga was good as well. Everything in our opinion would have been better if there were a variety of salsa to choose from to enhance the dishes. We given 1 kind and was told it was the hottest, however, for us it was more on the mild to medium side. So if you're looking for a Mexican place that is basic and straightforward with its flavor, this is the place for you.

This is my first time here and I will CERTAINLY be back! I got the #1 beef tacos with rice and beans , as well as a chicken taco. This is the most delicious home cooked meal I've had out in a long time. The shredded beef is amazing, the shell hot , fresh.... The rice and beans were FANTASTIC! So fresh, sooooo good.... By the way the SALSA WAS AMAZING AND HOME MADE!!!! I will say with confidence the best salsa I've ever had from a restaurant , certainly! And the woman working was extremely warm and nice to me as well as other patrons , and she made my day better. The feeling of a family restaurant with . I'm not from the immediate area but I will drive out of the way to come back here. Classic food that I hope never changes!! It is seriously life changing.

This is a great local no frills delicious taco shop. They don't have an online presence, and it was hard for me to order ahead, so here is their latest paper menu for your enjoyment. Very friendly people and very delicious food. The California burrito is top notch.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. I been here about three months ago and forgot to review and remembered this place. Food is fresh and tasty. They use curly fries for the California burrito and adds a great taste. The cashier is very welcoming and polite. They have plenty of seating for indoor dining. I will be coming back much sooner!

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Street parking only. The spots on the same block are metered but if you drive down to the second street towards residential, it's free.

Drinks took long after finishing our app. Ordered the mezcal in addition to our drinks and took even longer. Donut crab was actually good. I will give them that. We ordered the big ribeye entree and with the rec of the server would be more than enough- wrong. Ambience- looks better on social media than in person. Super small, they don't use half of the restaurant during weekdays to make it seem more full. After $260 of a tab, we were kicked off of our table (at 8:30, 1.5 hours after getting there) for another reservation directly after paying the tab. I needed to wait for my uber outside. Honest review- check my page as I RARELY make 1 star reviews. Never again.

It's always a great place to stop before or after going to the airport because it's that close. We originally went there for an early dinner, but happened to meet the happy hour time frame (3:30-5:30). They have a wonderful array of drinks and appetizers to choose from. The most expensive being $11.00. Each appetizer is enough for two people. A man at the bar asked me if I wanted some of his guacamole dip because he could finish it all. He looked like that was his dinner meal too. I declined, since I was favoring the ceviche and chicken tinga tostadas. Both tasted delicious. I heard the bacon wrapped jalapeño were good but not gf. So I didn't try them. The views from our table were spectacular. They had many GF options listed on their menu. Our waiter, Jared, (so helpful and attentive), told me which items are more gluten sensitive and which ones were gluten free. The drinks were tasty and refreshing too. Definitely a place I'll be going back to with family and friends

An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration!…read more I took my husband here for his birthday this past Monday, and the entire experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish. First, the location and the views are simply stunning. It set the perfect backdrop for a celebratory evening. But what really elevated the vibe was the music! The playlist was so on point that I literally found myself dancing in my seat to every single song. It created such a fun, lively energy. I also have to give a massive shoutout to our waiter, who was incredibly attentive, warm, and anticipated our every need. The entire staff went above and beyond to make my husband feel so wonderfully celebrated. From a sweet little "Happy Birthday" sign to a surprise dessert at the end of the meal, every detail was thoughtful and perfectly executed. This place is truly incredible. We will absolutely be back!

Every time I have visitors to San Diego and they want authentic Mexican Food I take them to Oscar's. I won't eat my fish tacos anywhere else! This place is definitely a local establishment. Note that parking is tight in the parking lot, but you can also park on the street around the corner. The food is worth the search for a spot if the lot is full. This eatery is legit!

Comes in a personal sized cup and can be shared as a group or as part of your entree. -Grilled Octopus/Pulpo Taco: I'm always a little hesitant about grilled octopus because it's hard to prepare and can end up being really chewy. It was grilled perfectly here! The chunks were big enough so you get the squid flavor. It also comes with a sweet/spicy sauce which was unexpected but really yummy. -Battered Fish Taco: my favorite dish! Huge flaky piece of fish that's fried really well. Not too much rough and you can really taste the fish. -Chips and Guac: fresh made guac! Get it as a side order and you can add to your tacos too. It can get really busy here. Our food took longer than expected and you have to wait around for a table too. Parking lot can be a hit or miss. Try to come during off hours!

The chorizo wasn't like Roberto's so there was no grease dripping down my hands. That usually means either too much eggs or better quality meat. I think it was the latter. It tasted like restaurant chorizo. We sat down and enjoyed our stay. The flow of customers was consistent for a Saturday morning. Our favorite was the vibe. We are so lucky to get Mex at any corner. So something really has to stand out. It felt like a family taco shop. The "Dad" was the best! He called the orders like he was asking if we did our chores and called the kids coming in mijo. He made sure that we had what we needed - reminding us to "eat all" of our food then danced behind the counter. It was a fun breakfast.

We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of veggies and liked the ample amount they provided. ---- There's a couple benches outside in front of the shop and seating at booth tables inside as well. It's a bit smaller to sit inside, I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and the sunset is beautiful. ---- Overall: if you're in the mood for California Burritos come to the place rightly named California Burritos!
