    Cubana Torta

Oh it's been a hot minute since I've been to Liberty Public Market and there are some new stalls that I'm super excited to try. I could wait to write a review until I've eaten more off this menu but no, it must be said now. An update and another star will most likely follow soon because when one finds a good sandwich how are you supposed to not order it again? The one sandwich I had was definitely worth 4 stars all on its own. Maybe even 5 stars if I'm honest but I'll see how the chicken is first. I'm still thinking about this one sandwich 6 days later. Why? Pork be magical like that. The sandwich I'm referring to? The Cubana Torta. She was beautiful. The roll was toasty. The roasted pork was tender and succulent. The ham was, well, it was the thin-sliced ham you know and should love. Same goes for the swiss. Like the cheese is there but it isn't meant to be the star. The fattiness (delicious fat) from the pork was cut through by the mustard and pickles. I confess I had been drinking beforehand and maybe there was a salsa verde tucked in there like the menu said buuuut I don't know. Mentally I was still singing American Pie in my peach bourbon smash summer haze. Maybe salsa verde, but maybe not. Either way it was delicious like any good Cuban sandwich should be. Pork pork pork pork. Order yourself one! Or be like me and take a bite and moan, wonder why you bought bao buns for your dinner (oh yeah, because they are also tasty) and thank your partner for being sweet enough to share his sandwich with you. The man is a saint who let me eat several bites. You might not be so lucky. Treat yourself to your own Cubana!

Interesting little hole in the wall place found in the Liberty Station markey area. The tortas are pretty highly priced for how much food you get but flavorful in the end. I feel like this place is lacking true diversity on their menu besides a few basic torta options. If the menu was expanded I think this place would be a great go-to.

I normally cannot finish a whole torta but this was good, the flavors meshed well and the customer service was very inviting, welcoming and friendly. As you can see it seems very clean and colorful with quite a few options. Would definitely go back and try other items!

Got the Chicken Sandwich here which was good! It had a generous amount of contents in the sandwich, the only thing was that the chicken was SO big that it didn't flatten like a torta and it was hard to eat. Otherwise, pretty good torta!

Yesterday, Jan 13, 2021 a few friends of mine had lunch take-out for the first time at Tortas El Chapulin. Two of us had the grilled cheese and one had the Chicken Milanesa. Those sandwiches were outstanding!!! In fact that was the BEST grilled cheese I have ever had!! The thick pieces of bread were grilled to a beautiful golden color. Creamy multiple types of cheeses were so delicious and the bread had salt and pepper in it. The Chicken Milanesa had such flavor and paired well with the thin bread. We will certainly return!

Taste: mediocre. GI issues afterward: TERRIBLE! Wanted to give them a shot but so many better options in the market.

The person helping us was very informative and helpful with making our decision on what we wanted. We went ahead and decided to get the "111" and the "19" (check out menu below to see exactly what we got.) Grabbed 2 bags of chips and ended up getting those for free since it was our first time in. Super nice gesture! Waited about 6-7 minutes for our sandwiches to be ready, which is incredible time if you ask me. Went back to the crib and opened up to the most delicious looking sandwiches ever. Took one bite and I stood up waving my finger at the sandwich saying, "BEST SANDWICH EVER!." Mind you, me, TBG (The Big Gorger), ordered the 111 and thought that was the best, took a bite of Ms Gorgers and stood up again and said, "NOW THAT IS THE BEST SANDWICH!." These were the best tasting sandwiches ever. Everything was so tasteful. The cranberry jam on the number 19 mixed with the sriracha sauce, wow who would have thought about that idea. Ike's has now became my go to sandwich spot. Shoutout to Andrew and Alex who were working there during our visit. Amazing job Ike's! Best, TBG (The Big Gorger)

You order at the register, and they bring your food out to your table. They're dog-friendly, which is great. They even have dog treats available, which is always a nice touch for those of us dining with our pups. I ordered the: *The Philly: Absolutely phenomenal. They offer two sizes, and I went with the small, which ended up being the perfect portion. If you're craving a great Philly cheesesteak, this one definitely delivers. *Hazy IPA (On Tap): They have an impressive beer selection with several beers on tap in addition to canned options. They were out of the IPA I originally wanted, but the employee recommended another hazy IPA that ended up being a great substitute. My only complaint was the pricing. The menu listed the craft beer at $6, but it only showed one price. I was surprised when my large ended up costing $12. It would've been helpful if both sizes and prices were clearly listed. Despite that, the service was excellent. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to come out, and the employee who took my order was incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service was fantastic, and I love that you can enjoy a quality craft beer with an authentic Philly cheesesteak. If you're looking for one of the better cheesesteaks around, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
