This is a typical family owned restaurant where the service is good and the food tastes homemade. I only stopped in here for a quick bowl of soup because I had time to spend before I had to be somewhere. The choices were chicken noodle soup, cream of broccoli or stuffed pepper soup. I normally call, but I was a bit busy and this way was just easier for me, so I used the DoorDash order online service through them. When I got to the restaurant, the lady kept saying "verify." I'm like everything looks good. She's like, "no verify!" I'm like oh on my phone? She's like "yeah." So, I pulled out my phone. In the meantime she walked away. I'm like, do you need to see it? We found this remarkable diner! Chicken dumpling soup was made from scratch. Fish and chips and fried shrimp with fries were cooked perfectly with crispy seasoned batter and fish was flaky and delicious. Fries were hot, well-seasoned crispy outside and tender inside. Children got chicken tenders and they said it was great and cleaned their plates. Lisa was our server - she was friendly and welcoming and she really knew her menu and when asked, she shared which options she would recommend and her suggestions were spot-on. All of you pink Greek dressing snobs kept going on and on about the Greek salad and dressing at Savory Grill (located on Van Dyke in Utica), so I stopped in for lunch today since I was nearby at Nail Experts. I'm a believer!! Yum! Everything is fresh, lots of toppings, a ton of juicy chicken, and the dressing is my favorite part. This is the regular size. They also have a large for a couple dollars more. A local's favourite stomping grounds. Know the right folks and they hook you up with the best. This gem is one of Utica's best kept secrets for a long time. Two years ago I saw the entire operation. Fresh produce delivered throughout the week, cleaning practices and preparation procedures that sold me on their reputation. We stop here whenever we travel Michigan. We appreciate the diverse menu and the quality food for a reasonable price. I myself, love the homemade soups. We ended up sick during our trip and came to rely on them our last day in Detroit. A relative brought us a quart of Chicken Dumpling, a huge Greek salad with tons of the creamy pink Greek dressing and pita sandwiches. A lifesaver. This diner is near and dear to our hearts. This is kind of your standard coney island except for one thing, the pink dressing for the Greek salads! I came here with my niece and sister after we had pedicures. My niece was hungry and was going to have to go to work afterwards so we stopped for a quick meal. My niece ordered about half of the menu whereas my sister and I opted for Greek salads. We both had requests with our Greek salads, such as extra beets or no cheese, and they came out correctly. I thankfully ordered a large salad and had some leftover to take home. A friend recommended Savory Grill and we loved the menu and promise of big portions (we love leftovers!) so we ordered tonight. My husband picked up the food. You can call from the parking lot or go in to pick up. He said everyone waiting was good about social distancing and that there was plexiglass at the register for added protection. He said no staff was wearing a mask, if that is important to you. I ordered a steak kabob with fries and soup (Rosa Marina). My husband ordered a double burger with fries. He raved about the burger and my steak kabob was incredibly filling and steak cooked perfectly. The soup was flavorful and I have half the serving left for another meal. We received a LOT of fries.
