Always enjoy coming to this coffee shop whenever I visit Newport and walk along the Cliff Walk with my family. Not only is their coffee delicious, but their staff is also kind and considerate. On the day we visited, it was incredibly cold outside and we needed a place to warm up with some hot beverages. However, we had our dog with us. Since they were close to closing time, and our dog is very small and well behaved, they allowed us to bring her in so she could warm up as well. I thought this was a very kind gesture on their part and made me appreciate their business that much more. Thank you again to the staff for such a great experience. read more

Location of Empire Tea & Coffee is great! There is indoor and outdoor seating. Service was okay. Lots of staff and it wasn't too busy. Got my drink quickly. They have lots of choices of iced teas which is perfect for this hot summer . Place was disorganized, trash cans full, and mess mostly trash on the floor. The bathroom situation is challenging, there's one bathroom available, the other one is for staff only. Bathroom line even blocks the entrance. Came here with my boyfriend yesterday for an early afternoon pick-me-up and had an amazing experience. First off, the cashier was so friendly and gave perfect recommendations when it came to the pastries. With his help I settled on a cinnamon babka, a red velvet latte and a dirty chia. I had asked for the babka warmed up which made it 10/10. The red velvet latte warmed my soul and was a perfect little sweet treat. Went to this location 3 times during our long weekend in Newport! As sole tea drinkers it is sometimes difficult to find locations that make good tea drinks. Empire had a ton of loose leaf tea selections and we enjoyed all of the drinks we got. They also have some pastries from Providence Bakeries. We tried the chocolate chip old fashion doughnut from Knead Bakery and thought it was tasty! You don't see chocolate chips in doughnuts often. One of our drinks was forgotten about but the staff was very gracious to refund us that drink after we asked about it and they made it. read more

Bellevue's outpost of Empire Tea and Coffee has improved significantly since my last review! While the "coziness" of the coffee shop leaves something to be desired, I will say that they know how to make a great cup of tea! I really love how Empire steeps the teas to order - no guesswork that results in a weak or bitter cup of tea and subsequent waste of money. The baristas here really know what they're doing. Whether it's a perfectly prepared chamomile tea, a lovely nitro cold brew, or a "grown up hot chocolate" (espresso with whipped cream and vanilla), I haven't been disappointed! They also have some great food up at this location that's not offered down on Broadway, I think due to the larger kitchen / prep space. I had a Kale Salad with freshly cut apples, creamy avocado, and a flavorful carrot-ginger dressing today for lunch, and I was very impressed with the quality. Like the other locations, they get Knead Donuts and Providence Bagels delivered fresh every morning, plus a few other house made scones, cookies, and sweet breads. You won't go hungry here for sure! While the Broadway Empire will always be my favorite, I'm getting to like Bellevue a whole lot more. read more

Empire was a tea cafe I've been trying to get to. So after a long walk in the area I ran right into the new location on Bellevue Ave. I enjoyed the famous Kale salad that was awesome. It was huge so I shared with a friend. The Latte was rewarding after my walk. I think my other favorite is a iced green tea. Really gets you going!! The place is spacious and bright with outside seating. Parking can be tough in that area but you can manage. Everything was made fresh and the counter staff were friendly and helpful. This is definitely a place to check out while your out shopping and visiting Newport on your summer vacation. It is very close to the local university . It's a great place to meet friends . Solid latte, which was a nice change based on the past few places I've tried in Newport. They made it in my mug and it was properly strong, appropriately foamed, and even had a little design despite being in my travel mug, which I don't think I've ever seen before, obviously just because they can. Surprisingly the prices were very reasonable, not just standard but even slightly on the low side, which isn't a huge deal but it's a nice bonus. They have a big rack of loose leaf tea. They say they can add pumpkin to anything, but beware that it's just the basic monin syrup. The space is great, not too quiet to feel fine chatting but not too loud to sit and work. There's free WiFi via a password. The snacks look great. There's a bike rack out front. The staff are friendly and helpful. read more

It's made things complicated by the fact that the handwritten signs do not adequately describe what to do next and when. The pick up side is unorganized because there is no clear order... Apparently, I was too close to this door when someone Yelled out to get back from deep inside the store.. I'm sorry to say this but I find it offensive to be street trained by a cafe employee.. put up a barrier with a note.. anything but telling a customer how to behave is in bad taste.. This place is set up perfectly for social distancing and operating in a covid friendly world. Walk in, place your order (if you didn't order ahead) walk out, and your order will be up waiting for you around the corner. They have plenty of seating outside on their patio and they take up a pretty amazing corner in Newport for people watching or socializing safely with friends. I got a simple yet delicious hot chai latte. It was creamy with a nice spice to it. there is Plenty of parking around it (off-season) and a large lot right next door. Their social distancing plan is great in theory, but poorly executed by the lack of proper signage informing people of what to do. It felt annoying ordering and picking up our order, and we weren't the only ones. While we waited we saw several other people confused about what door to go to. More importantly the coffee sucked. I would normally sugar coat it and try to come up with something nice to say but I'm over it. It was a pain to order from you, it took 10 minutes to flavor and add milk to a cold brew, and it wasn't good on top of all that. read more
