Different Carpet Installed! Terrible experience from start to finish. The company scheduled me to have an estimate twice without scheduling a representative, though called to confirm appointment. After waisting my time I called back and third time was better so I ordered with the company because they could install the earliest. The installers came super early (7am) to beat the rain, which was alright with me, however when the rain began they continued the job though we voiced concerns about the carpet getting wet since this is replacing flooded carpet in basement. We were told it's only the top so it's fine, people wet carpet all the time to clean it (made sense) so we allowed them to finish. The carpet was damp for hours and they were 3 stairs short. Said someone would return first thing the next morning to complete. The next morning no call, no installation. After calling I was told the office on my area did not receive the order until that day. So this is: no cal no show number 3! The following day after waiting until after 7:00pm for a 2:00-4:00pm arrival window the installers arrived (different set). They asked for payment again, I told them it was paid during original install, he shows me a paper with a price listed (over $1,000) which I replied "do you really think anyone would pay that much for 3 stairs sir"? I showed the payment on my account which they had to take a picture of. They finally installed the carpet on the remaining 3 stairs and once completed, I informed them the carpet looked completely different. They argued and showed me the paperwork again with the color, as if the paper work didn't contain errors already. "Regardless of the paperwork this is not the same carpet" was my response. They begun arguing "I did the job right the last installers went in different directions and it's too short, not my fault, not my problem. Call the company tomorrow, I did the job, I'm finish." Their service gets a ZERO! 2 Stars only because they do good work. Getting them to keep appointments and show up on time or at all will be an Issue!! I've hired them for several jobs because of the quality of their work, however every single time they have either not showed up, showed up late, or cancelled altogether. This last time I was getting ceramic tile for my downstairs. This was a 2 day process for which I had to rearrange my entire life. Less than 1 business day before the job is to be completed, they Cancelled! Unbelievable! And the installation manager Helen was very rude and dismissive. Steer clear of this business. We used them to install new floating vinyl plank flooring. While the floor looks nice....the 1/4 inch molding they put in with it does not. They clearly did not know what they were doing. The cuts are awful and were obviously not measured correctly. Several sections were not even nailed or attached to the walls. Instead they were just wedged in to place between other pieces. The material for the molding is terrible as well. It is a composite covered with a white vinyl type material. We moped up a small cup of spilled water near the molding. It must have got a bit wet and the vinyl on it started to peel off....we have had the floors less than a month. I could go on and on about my disappointments with this experience...hopefully I can save you from making the same miatake I did. I expected better from a national company like this. read more

My empire experience was a complete waste of time. They lured me in with their $99 per room advertisement special that turned out to be anything but... I'm still shaking my head trying to figure out how three small rooms at the $99 rate came to a sum total of nearly $7000.00. I know a lot about Empire's business processes by doing business with their corporate offices. I suppose this understanding makes working with them a little more straightforward. You will be pushed to have installation occur before the 3-day rescind period is up. You will get a decent price, but the advertised specials always are usually different than the reality. The quality of the product can vary, but it generally is pretty good. The installation is done by contractors, but it is generally good. We had a good experience with the sales guy that came. We bypassed much of the normal push. We got the decent price and financing on the spot. We did not want the install the next day, so we put a sizeable downpayment on the deal which was OK. We had a great experience with the crew that came to install. They arrived earlier than scheduled, which was OK. They moved furniture without complaint (even the treadmill). They did good quality work and it looked really nice when they were done. No complaints. read more

On September 8th, 2022, a salesman came to give us an estimate on laminate flooring for our kitchen and also landing and stairs to basement. We were surprised that they could install 2 days later. They came and installed the kitchen floor but could not finish the stairs because they said the materials that they were given were dangerous and wrong materials. After they left, we noticed some botched work, mainly the molding. We took pictures and contacted the sales rep and customer service. We were told that they would get back to us on Tuesday, Sept. 13. They called us on the 14th to reschedule for the 19th. They came back on the 19th, with yet again the wrong material. Called customer service, they said they would contact us the next day. We made many calls to them and were told that the installation manager, Matthew Dempsky, or the Market Manager, Daniel David, would contact us by the close of business on Sept. 20. We have not heard back from them. A customer service rep. Danielle, called on Sept 22 to reschedule for Friday Sept. 23rd. Received a call on Sept. 23rd, with another excuse that the installer's van broke down. Asked to speak with a manager and was told that Matthew Dempsey, Installation Manager, would call us. We still have not heard from them. We should have checked the reviews on Better Business Bureau before we hired these incompetent liars, who have no integrity to speak of. I wonder if they will pay the wages lost because of their incompetence? We'll let the attorney figure that one out. In the meantime our stairs are unfinished and dangerous. On 11/19/2022, this company installed carpeting. They installed a lower grade padding (number 6 vs number 8) than what we paid for, and the seam was so poorly done that it was bunched up and uneven. There is also a defect in another area of the carpeting with a line running through it. Two different installers came back out to try to fix the seam but were not able to do so and both confirmed the padding was the lower grade padding. The last installer then tried to tell us that the seam was actually a defect in the carpeting as well. The last installer took pictures and advised us he would send to the appropriate people for a solution. We have the company's customer service representative contact us on 3 separate occasions requesting different pictures from us. They claim their installer never gave them the pictures or information that he took when he was here. They claim they are doing us a favor by handling this complaint through the manufacturer for us even though they installed defective carpeting on day 1 and they are responsible for the shoddy work. They have had nothing but excuses and have been dragging their feet ever since. I also strongly believe that the carpeting they installed is NOT the same quality that was picked from the sample but cannot prove that. 1 1/2 months later, I am left with a living room that cannot be used when company comes over due to the shoddy work and poor, lowest grade carpeting that was installed. SQUEAKY, SQUEAKY, SQUEAKY!!!!! The Engineered Wood Floor has been squeaky since installation, almost one year. The quality of the product appears to be very low especially when comparing to other competitors. I complained a number of times about the annoying squeaking. Empire finally sent someone to investigate, but the person looked for something we were doing wrong. They did not look for a problem with the floor, which is poor quality. They said it was the humidity levels although we have instruments throughout the house that reflect the proper range. No one has come back from Empire to show us a different reading. We've requested to talk with a Manager but Customer Service only relays information back and forth. No direct access to a Manager. COMPARE, COMPARE, COMPARE before buying from Empire. read more

Poor management and poor customer service. Save yourself a headache! I will never again use this organization again, and I have used Empire Today in the past. November 11th 2020, chose my carpeting and provided a $900 deposit. The installation was scheduled for December 14th, which I agreed would be fine. Friday before the installation date I contacted Empire to confirm they were coming out on Monday the 14th. They stated that someone would call me the morning of the 14th and let me know what time the team would be to my house to install carpeting. By 10 a.m. on the day of the installation, I had not received a phone call from Empire, so I followed up with customer service by phone. At first they said my carpeting was not loaded on the truck, then they put me on hold for a while then someone came on the phone and said they did not have my carpet ordered and I would have to wait at least a week and then they could do the installation a week later. I informed them that I would like to cancel the order & was told customer service was going to call me later in the day to process the refund. Since no one called me from their customer service team to apply the refund, I contacted them again today, Wednesday the 16th and again I was told that someone Should have contacted me regarding my credit. On December 15th no one called me from customer service , so today Wednesday the 16th I followed up with customer service and they told me again that someone should have called me already to handle this refund. Empires sales associates are not educated on how flooring is installed so they make promises and over sell product to get the sale. Once you sign your contract you have 3 days to cancel without penalty, however they schedule your install past the 3 days so when the installers come out and go over the job and tell you that the sales rep was wrong and that they cannot do what you were told they could. Furthermore, the installers explain some of the esthetics that will be changed that you were not informed of. This happened to my husband and I. We spoke to a representative at Empire while the installers were still here and promised they would put in for a refund because of the situation. Bought vinyl flooring and carpeting from empire $7,400. Day of install , no installer. Called salesman named OK at 10am asking where are they? He replied that flooring was out of stock and that they could install in two weeks. Salesman said he called my phone the day before but my phone mail bucket was full and wouldn't take message. I told salesman that I had taken work off two days and he was gonna get something tomorrow installed or contract was cancelled. Salesman OK said he would get with his installation coordinator named Renee and get back with me. Renee found a similar vinyl flooring color but thicker quality and he could get installed in two days. I agreed. Installer showed up last Thursday and told me we got a better product that would have cost $2,000 more...installer Alex was top installer and flooring was installed two days after agreement and Empire cleared up a mess to make me very satisfied. I called their inspector out in he determined it was humidity and wrong cleaning products. I rarely would need to clean the floor and again this is only in one area. Congratulations to Empire Today for blowing up a slam-dunk project we had already committed to and were prepared for install. At nearly $15K for a residential order, you'd think it would have garnered more attention to detail than a phone call the morning of the vinyl install [AFTER we had moved all our belongings out of the area, boarded our dogs, and took time off work to be there] saying that, "oh, we were loading the installer's truck and we don't have enough materials to do the job." This is supposed to be a nationwide outfit with tons of resources, direct to the manufacturer hotlines, tightly run ship with even next-day install (ours was a two week wait, which was fine). They managed to call and text me literally every single day for 10 days before the installation to make sure we had everything prepped, were Covid free, and were ready to go, but couldn't manage to figure out until the morning of the installation they didn't have the trim and transition pieces [and refused to do the install without them]. Me: Fine, let's do the carpeting as scheduled the following day, and we'll do the vinyl on December 10th. It sucks, but I'll get over it... Sales Manager: Well, I just checked with the warehouse on the carpet. We can't do THAT installation either, because we don't have enough carpet from the same dye lot to do the whole job. When in the world would I have gotten THAT phone call? Probably the morning after I had (again) moved all my sh*t to make room for the installers. And to top it off, no one could even tell me when the carpet would be in, just a vague, and I'm quoting here from your sales manager, "I'm going to go out on a limb and say we should have this whole thing done by Christmas." Me: Yeah, just cancel the whole order, what a disastrous failure to execute. The company makes very bold, sweeping statements about their clout with manufacturers, their immediate scheduling, their massive inventory and nationwide warehouses, their logistics team, the tightly coordinated installers, etc. The only thing I can tell you is that based upon THIS experience, word of mouth is going to go a long way. Every time from now on that I hear that "Eight Hundred Five Eight Eight, Two Three Hundred...EMPIIIIIIIRE" jingle on television, no matter where I am and whom I am with, I'll be sure to pass on my glowing review of Empire and the way in which this project failed and how no one there seemed to even give a crap about wasting our time. read more

I have been trying to get our floor repair for over a month now. 1st time they showed up they didn't bring enough material to make repair. Rescheduled twice but got no call no show. 3rd reschedule I received a call that the truck was load and they are on the way. No show again.    I have never used a company who has total disregard of their customers. The installation warranty is totally a joke. Not sure why anyone would do business with these guys. They charge between $15-$20/ft for average LVP with mostly under qualified and under paid contractors. They still pay contractors the same wage as 20 yrs ago. All that money a customer pays for an unacceptable job. You can call a regular local flooring guy and support your economy and you will also get top of the line products for same or less. Worst company to do any business with. I told the carpet layer no that wasn't my carpet but they layed it anyway they told me to put my dogs away and i'd have to leave the work area only 1 of them was desent to me the f bomb was there main communucation the security guard ask what was the commotion and my neighbor came over to see if i was all right i didn't sign the paperwork for completion of the carpet so the carpet installer signed it himself my neighbor stayed with me she witness this person checking of question that i shouldv'e answered i' m still waiting for a call back but continue's phone call to empire has not resolved my issue are my carpet are the damage to my things read more

I had a representative come out for a quote to carpet three bedrooms in our home. I had specifically said that I was still shopping around and wasn't signing anything with them today. Next thing I know, I am on the schedule and they send me a credit card from empire in my name that they will charge my job on that I am responsible for paying. I was extremely unhappy with the way the 'quote' was handled and tried to force a job on me that I didn't agree too. When called costumer service I was told they don't just give quotes for jobs. The installer took 10 hours to complete putting carpet in my 600 sq ft upstairs. They arrived at 10am and were still at my house at 8pm. All they did was complain about the job while they were there. They were supposed to take off the flooring glued onto my hand wood floors before they laid the carpet, the installer said, "we don't want to take it off, it's a bigger deal than it's worth, and they don't pay us enough to do that." We got on the phone and called empire and told them what was going on, empire stated they would refund that amount to us. Haven't had that amount refunded yet. They cut the carpet in my garage where it was dirty and dirt got on my new carpet. The installers were also supposed to put the carpet on the whole step however according to them, "we can't do that it's going to look weird because there is molding on the stair and it will look weird." Again the salesperson wrote it up that they would cover the step and the installer stated that they wouldn't. Tried calling empire about this after the first phone call with them of the day and haven't heard back from empire. Needless to say it's been a nightmare. Wouldn't go with empire again. read more

lied about interest rate and also the rep whose initials are DD ( can't remember her name) initialed pages for me so I didn't see them. she told me 9% interest and then when I received the contract it said 11%. I noticed Empire about it and they said nothing they could do even though I had it confirmed in a text from the sales rep also (DD). to this day my name is still wrong within Wells Fargos system and I guess it will never be getting fixed. DD assured me that it was top quality installation and I was getting a top quality product. close to the two year mark I started having issues. Sections coming up and braking along the edges even though it was not separate. I've had one piece completely come up in the corner and break off. called empire and they said well you made it 2 years with no issues. I was like 2 years and now I'm having issues is unacceptable for a $6,000 flooring job which was only about maybe 800 sqft. they want to charge to just tell me if they can fix it and charge to fix it. all of the issues I've had and they tell me that!!! I would let them do the flooring in a dog house much less my home ever again. please don't waste your money!! Worst customer service ever. Ended up canceling our order. No way would I trust them to do the job right in my home when they couldn't even set up the installation correctly. Original installation date December 1st was rescheduled to December 11th because the installer couldn't make it in due to snow. December 11th was a no call no show. Rescheduled again to December 15th after speaking with 2 different supervisors. Then get a call on the 12th of December saying their out of the carpet I ordered and I would have to pick something else! Never received a call back from the installation supervisor. I had my entire home redone, hardwood in all rooms except for bedrooms. New carpet in the bedrooms. Didn't get their 'high grade' but did purchase their 'mid grade'. It's been done for maybe 3-4 months. The hardwood is already separating, some even falling apart. They said it was waterproof and I already have damage in my bathrooms. And I know it's not 'ocean proof' so I make sure I'm always wiping up after showers. The carpet, oh man, you can't even get me started. They had to come out and fix it already. One of the guys said the problem was Empires fault because they put the hard wood in first so the transition board doesn't cover the edge of the carpet. So the carpet is lifting in the entryways. Now as we are starting to paint the bedrooms and I'm down on my knees looking at the boarders it honestly looks like they used a pocket knife to cut it. It's falling apart at the edges, there's strings coming up and it's jagged. We paid over $6k for this. I'm so disappointed. My first home, and I'm livid. Would not recommend at all. read more

Been having issues getting stains out of this supposedly stain resistant and pet resistant carpet. Salesman told me 3 years ago when I had it installed that it won't soak into the carpet and it'll float on top so you can clean it up with no lasting stains or soaking. So as I'm pulling it up, I see that was a lie. Through the carpet into the padding. Spent 5 grand on this carpet because of its non soaking abilities to be lied too. Could've spent a lot less for the same crappy carpet. I would never recommend this company to anybody. The customer service is horrible, can't ever get a hold of anybody for issues. We had a new floor installed in May. We scheduled a repair appointment due to some bad spots. After the repair, the floor was worse than before the repair. Somebody from the crew freelanced through my garage without me knowing. I scheduled another repair appointment and nobody showed up. After rescheduling another appointment, they sent the crew I asked them not to send and the floor was not repaired. I was told I needed to select a thicker flooring and they would replace the whole floor because of the amount of problems with the flooring material. An appointment for a representative was made to show me flooring samples. He did not show up. The 2nd No Show appointment in a couple weeks. I finally got someone out to my home to show me samples a few days later. I chose from the samples he brought to the house. I was told there was no cost. Shortly after, he told me that I couldn't have it because he showed me the wrong samples. He then brought back new samples, the same type of material they wanted to replace and get me out of. Part of me feels like we got dooped into a lesser quality product. The company advertises next day installation, but I'm stuck waiting about 2 weeks. Throughout this process, I've made several attempts to speak with a supervisor or manager. I left many voice messages. I can't believe I am ONCE AGAIN writing a terrible review for Empire! Ever since we have started with this company it has been NOTHING but trouble. Now, there is a billing issue. We agreed on $3,800 for 1,900 sq ft at $2.00 per sq foot. We have a SIGNED document from their sales representative saying this! We also got approved for a $5,000 finance. The sales representative must have made a HUGE mistake and instead of the $3,800 he initially promised us, he charged us for $5,000 and put that on the contract! We thought we were signing documents for the credit card when in actuality the sales representative was having us sign for a $5,000 carpet job!!! If I wanted to pay that much, I WOULD HAVE HIRED WORLD OF FLOORS BY ARTVAN!!! Now, because of his mistake which he will not admit to making, my husband and I are fighting with the company trying to get the price adjusted. I WILL be taking Empire to court and calling the Better Business Bureau because THIS is NOT good business if they do NOT adjust the price to what we were promised! Hired Empire on 3 occasions. First 2 were good. Recently needed bedroom carpet. Carpeting installed at a record speed. Within 2 weeks realized the padding was wrong in a 4x4 ft area. Called for service. No return call - salesperson said to push for service. Finally got thru, appt set for "someone" to come out. 6hr window on a workday! Took off work. 10am that morning, appt was cancelled! I went to work frustrated. 12:45 "someone" called was 10 min from my house! I told him the appt was cancelled by Empire that morning. He had attitude and said if I couldn't be home in 10 min he would be sure this appt. would not be rescheduled. I called Empire and over the next few days left messages, no return calls.
