The staff is so unprofessional. They doctor gave me an inaccurate prescription and made me feel really uncomfortable when I told him that he wasn't right. Never going back to this place again - they're not worth anyones time. read more

Counter people are very nice (now that Borst is gone) and the optometrists and the contact lens salesgirls are very thorough. However, the process of picking out frames that are in/out of your insurance network is very shady but it's been like that for years. Obviously the chain buys these frames in bulk at wholesale and marks them up exponentially. I ask how much my insurance will pay toward the frames, one person tells me ~$100 and when its time to pay I'm told that they will pay $0. But its the only optometrist in my network so they have quote the monopoly. Also, the last pair of glass I bought here are half framed, and the shop buffed the edges making them shiny. The new glasses I bought (paying cash) they didn't buff, which just makes them look cheap. See ya in 2 years, I'll start saving up now. read more

This place has the worst customer service ever! The last time I was there the staff was so hostile to each other / I actually felt bad for the clerk who was ringing me out because I witnessed 2 other staff be completely rude to her for no reason - very unprofessional. This was after waiting almost 2 hours to complete my eye appt because they play games of putting you back in the waiting room after the exam and then before you see the " contact specialist" - just wasting your time. Then I just called twice - 2 different days to try and order contacts - the first call on a Saturday where I was told they had a new system and didn't have my script listed in it so I had to call back during the week when the doctor was there to do it So I try again on Monday and again the clerk tells me they are so busy I have to call back to order my contacts - I proceed to tell him they close in 15 minutes/ he said oh you can call back and we will answer after 7pm - I told him I'd prefer someone call me and left my number --- so 7:20pm no one has called me back so I call again and get the message - they're closed! And no one called me back!!! I cant even get them on the phone to let me spend my money there to order contacts! I wonder if the CEO of the company would like to know that they let me off the phone twice when I was trying to buy their product. This company sucks and I would NEVER use it - only do Bc it's the only choice I have with my insurance. If you have choices don't waste your time going to visionworks especially the niskayuna location!!! I would give it NO stars!!! read more

Probably the worst customer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. You WILL suffer for the so called 'convenience' and price. When I went to get my frames/get the lenses it took an hour and a half to get through the entire process. As I waited I witnessed a staff member play with sticky notes, employees gossiping, no one knowing what to do and employees wandering aimlessly around the store. I have NEVER seen so many people do so little work. After forty-five minutes of watching people do nothing we finally get helped. Then after the optometrist brought out the wrong lenses...twice, we finally learned that they would have to order them. Fine. At this point I was pretty irritated and wanted the situation over with. They told me my glasses would be in on November 8th and they would call when they were ready...okay fine, no problem. That date came and went...no call. I had to call them today (Nov 14th), sit on hold for ten minutes only for them to tell me they are in the 'Call Box' and they hadn't gotten around to them. You have to be joking...right? After the circus I witnessed of 6 out of 8 employees twiddling their thumbs you're saying you haven't gotten around to it?! Give me a break! I hope and pray the prescription and frames are right, there is really no telling with how unprofessional and unorganized these people are. I will avoid this place like the plague if at all possible. Only go here if it is your truly LAST option. read more

The doctor is very nice but I have to agree with the negative reviews. I was quoted one price for a contact lens exam and then they wanted to charge me more for a more expensive fitting even though I wasn't changing my current lens manufacturer and was continuing to wear the daily lens that I had been wearing. First off I will say that the Technician who did my exam was great and friendly but once you get back out front things change. There wasn't a smile to be had. The person fitting the glasses seemed to really want to be somewhere else. God forbid you want to go with a lower cost option on the frames (not sure if they receive commissions). I did buy my glasses from them but when I went back a week later to ask for a copy of my prescription I was met with a very standoffish attitude and made to wait for about 20 minutes when it was not particularly busy. I was initially told that they could not give me the prescription but I persisted and received it. Now that I don't have Davis insurance and pay out of pocket I will not be going back. Save yourself some hassle and look elsewhere if you can. Good Luck! read more

Now "VisionWorks," this eye doc HOLDS YOUR SCRIPT HOSTAGE for a week until you call to let them know that your new contacts fit. THEN they make you "come in for a check-up" before they release your script because they don't want you buying contacts from someplace else. Appointment was for 5:45 pm. It is now 6:30 pm and I still haven't gotten past my initial check-in... complete waste of time.

This is the most inconvenient and rude vision center i have ever encountered. First off, I went there last year for an eye exam the old skinny lady with the glasses was extremely rude to me for no reason. It seems like they don't like to do their jobs. Then over the summer i ordered a three month supply online because i have the same prescription in both eyes it took a week and they were supposed be there overnight to my house. Then i decide to come back to the Oneonta Visionworks to order another prescription this month and they told me it would take a week. 2 weeks later I'm being told I may have to wait another week. Meanwhile i'm stuck with one lens that i'm switching between eyes. I have to drive back and forth to work. This is crazy I want a refund!!!!! read more

Amazing place! The front desk, managers and optometrist are awesome. They are always so friendly and helpful. They are not in my netowrk coverage for my insurance, but, I go there anyway because the people in my network suck. I've played their game and it isn't fun. I'll always go to them. So, yes, I pay on my own and submit to my insurance for reimbursement. read more

I went here knowing my vision was pretty bad. Haven't had glasses for about a month because I lost them and I had to wait for my new insurance to kick in. Well I ended up having to pay a lump sum out of pocket. I was told my vision is so bad I shouldn't drive without my glasses and that there was a "rush" put on my glasses.. And was told a specific date as the "latest". They're making me wait 2 weeks to get my glasses.. If I didn't need them I'd go get a refund today. So unhappy with this. read more

I've never had a worse experience at the eye doctor. I'm sincerely disappointed by the service and staff here. The assistants and doctors are not friendly or helpful in the least. When performing the glaucoma test one assistant had to try no less than thirty times to get the puff of air in my eye - and that was only the left eye. Since I was a new patient I had to come back for them to check my contacts after a week - even though I have been wearing the same contacts for six or more years. I was told over the phone I didn't need an appointment - that the contact check would only take five minutes and I could pick up my contact order. "Just stop by" she said. I drove a half hour to get here only to be told they couldn't see me because I needed an appointment. They were extremely rude about the miscommunication. Don't go here. I will be finding somewhere else to go when I need more contacts. read more
