I am beyond heartbroken and angry over the care my father received at Petaluma valley hospital…read more this was the worst hospital experience I have ever witnessed. my dad was completely neglected by both nurses and doctors, my father died because of their lack of care. the nurses never checked on him unless I constantly called and reminded them. the doctors were ever hardly around, and when they were, they made sarcastic remarks and spoke to my father in a way that was sarcastic and demeaning- as if he was not worthy of patience or compassion. one moment that will FOREVER stay with me was when a nurse was about to give my unconscious father a pill to swallow. I had to step in and suggest a cream instead because he was clearly unable to take anything by mouth. the fact that I had to advocate so strongly for basic, safe care is unacceptable. No family should have to beg for attention or dignity of their loved one. thus hospital's level of neglect is outrageous. patient's deserve compassion, respect, and proper medical care, and my father received NONE of that. I am devastated, enraged, and deeply disappointed that thus facility is still operating while treating people this way. no amounts of words will ever describe how awful this place is. terrible care.

From the glass of wine I had after dinner, to missing the early morning Black Friday experience (this is the best part of Black Friday). So after calculating the time it requires to sober up, I was gonna head off to the emergency room at 10 PM. I showed up at Queen of the valley emergency room. It was surprisingly full for Thanksgiving evening. There must've been somewhere between 3 to 5 patients in the waiting room. Signing in at the registration desk was a piece of cake. They give you the usual bit of paperwork to fill out. And then it was just a matter of waiting it out. Given the time, it wasn't a surprise that many of the patients had much more urgent medical situations. I ended up waiting till close to midnight. Once it was my turn, things move briskly. They measured this and measured that and then put me in to the queue to see the doctor. I wish I could remember names, but I was darn sleepy. I would say the doctor showed an abundance of caution. They x-rayed the critical spot. They wish they could take an MRI but that equipment was too bulky for the emergency room. They concluded my injury needed to see an in office doctor ASAP. Since it was Thanksgiving evening, parking was a snap. It was relatively quiet. And since my injury was to my foot, the entrance was clearly very accessible. All in all, I got back home around 2 AM in the morning. If you want to get prompt service in the emergency room, honestly the best thing to do is to show up at 2 AM in the morning when everyone else has sensibly gone to bed. I would totally recommend using this emergency room, the wait time is certainly less horrendous than other urgent care/emergency rooms that I have been in, the staff and the doctors were meticulous. But keep in mind that I had a very different experience from your every day situation in the emergency room. Clearly many people had probably put off anything until after Thanksgiving. I also showed up rather late in the evening and that always helps.

Everyone from the security guard going forward wee competent, knowledgeable and courteous. The same day nurses Natasha and Lindsay were kind and patient. It was nice that they allowed two of my family members to stay with me until shortly before my scheduled surgery. The surgical staff were all incredible! I felt well cared for from check in to check out. My only concern is the lack of mask use by the majority of staff, so minus one star there. All surgical suite staff wore masks!

We live in Petaluma and no longer go to PVH because of the endless poor experiences there over many years. Our experiences with 3 out of 4 ER doctors we've seen at NCH have included compassion, patience and efficiency. Most of the ER nurses are hard working and caring. Wait times have been significantly short (only one 5 hour visit that even they were alarmed by). Some people do not understand that ER visits can be long due the severity of symptoms of other patients - it's not first come first served - Or that costs are higher when tests, imaging and medications are immediate. NCH ER is usually not busy (in our experiences) and we are grateful for the rapid and professional care our family has received.
