The beef and broccoli was ok. The white rice was mushy. The pork egg foo young was burnt, the sauce was tan and thicker than what I'm use to. With an odd smell. I have been eating egg foo young for about 48 years. They had more meat than usual but lacked taste. It's supposed to be like an egg omelet but as you can see it was burnt. The egg rolls were burnt. Yes they were dark brown and had black burn marks. The chicken fried rice had no taste. Our restaurant we usually go to was closed, Northfield Garden we never have issues there. This was our first and last time here. I should have read the reviews. Three of us with different tastes tried this and all agree NOT to go back. read more

Fresh and delicious! My husband and I were craving Chinese food last evening after watching an old Chinese-made foreign film. our 2 local Chinese restaurants were closed (Monday) so a Google search showed the Empress Restaurant in Linwood. The place was a little tricky for us to find, but there is plenty of parking and the food was excellenT. The staff was courteous and accommodating. We highly recommend Empress for the tastiest Chinese take-out we've had in a long time. read more

Worst Chinese food EVER!!!! Tried it 2x and food is STILL VERY SALTY!! I even asked very little salt. The 2nd time I ordered vegetarian mo shu. Ask no salt. I was in town on business at Mainland High. This place was across the street. I stopped in for a lunch special. The service was friendly. The shrimp with broccoli lunch special with pork fried rice was delicious. My only complaint is that the plaza it is located in looks more like an office complex. I drove past it the first time, thinking that a Chinese takeout place couldn't possibly be located in that complex. The next time I am in town on business there, I would go again. read more

Good Chinese food. Not salty or loaded with soy sauce. Meat was tender and vegetables were crisp in the Chicken with Chinese vegetables. My wife liked the egg rolls commenting that they actually had what looked like meat. Lately, most egg rolls seem to be vegetables only. SO that was a real compliment. Ordered our dinner over the phone tonight - read it back to them twice the woman read it back to us. When we picked up our order and got home 1 of the entrees was wrong and the 2nd entree wasn't even there. When we called their attitude was like we made the mistake. We have been loyal customers since they opened and we will no longer be getting our Chinese food from the place. This is by far the best Chinese carryout we've found anywhere near our home in Ocean City. We've ordered countless dinners from them, and it ha been consistently good, from fat and crispy egg rolls, to dumplings and scallion pancakes, to sweet and sours, mu shu pork, mei fun, orange beef, and others. They pack our orders carefully into a cardboard box (we usually order enough for lots of leftovers!), and it always arrives home still piping hot. Here's a special shout-out for the subgum wonton soup (make sure you order the right soup!) -- it is packed FULL with large wontons, tender slices of pork and chicken, and big chunks of vegetables. It's my absolute favorite to have for lunch the next day! BTW, the staff may struggle a bit with the language, but if you are also accommodating, you will always leave with what you wanted. Ordered general's chicken combo with shrimp fried rice. The chicken was god awful, too doughy and the sauce had no flavor and was too thick. Didn't even bother eating it. The rice was not cooked all the way and was still crunchy. The egg roll wasn't even worth eating. Just bad. If you can't make a decent general's chicken you shouldn't even be in business.
