I needed a mover *and* I needed storage for a couple of months and eventually, a long-distance move. It had been 10 years since my last move and while I loved my previous mover (Breda), they couldn't help me out with long-distance move. I will be the first to admit that I am high-maintenance when it comes to my stuff. I'm not some college kid with a studio full of IKEA. I am a grown-up, with a B&B Italia sofa and a burgeoning art collection. I am more than willing to pay for the careful transport of my belongings. The question was, who do I trust? After doing the research on the "pod" companies (Red Box, Smart Box, PODS, etc.) it was clear that for my needs, PODS was the way to go (stay tuned for a review on them once my interstate move is completed). Because you can't park a PODS unit on a major city street, you need a 3rd party mover to load and then reload your stuff. PODS has an exclusive relationship with EMS Movers. Now, I liked what I read about EMS on Yelp...but I didn't like the fact that they estimate your move over the phone; they don't come out in person. Everything I read about how to have a successful move said to run, not walk from a company that won't look at your stuff in person. Hence, my dilemma... Enter Jason at EMS Movers. This guy is 5 stars all the way...patient, reassuring, knowledgeable and did I say patient? Seriously, I've worked in customer service and Jason is an MVP! EMS is lucky to have him. I'll spare you the drama of my move. Suffice it to say, Chris and his crew did a terrific job packing and moving my belongings. They were even able to fit it all in to one container (as opposed to the 2 I expected to need)...that's another benefit to having professionals pack your stuff. Jason, you rock my man! Took a very long time to get my receipt emailed to me but other than that they did a great job. Quoted under all the other moving companies and guaranteed a quicker move as well. Nothing broken! Guys who moved my stuff out were SO nice and amazing, the guys who moved me in were a little shady and asked me to pay in cash (but I had already paid by credit card). I'd use again. Also, sounds like the receipt delay was due to Covid / system issues. A very nice employee (Selene) followed up for me a few times and gave me her personal and email and cell. Finding a mover is a crap shoot. You call one and it goes to voice mail. You call another and your information is taken and your told someone will call you back. This can be repeated multiple times! I actually spoke with Dave and we were able to schedule my request for a move for the next day. His crew, Dale and Missie, met me at the storage facility at the time we agreed upon, loaded up the truck, drove to my home, unloaded and finished the job in 2 hrs. They were courteous and professional and pleasant to work with. The quote was very fair and I feel it was appropriate for what I needed to be moved. read more

Fast, efficient, and friendly. They moved my entire apartment from their truck to the 24th floor of my building in about 30 minutes. They even helped me set up my Ikea bed. True, I had to flip the screws in the right direction after they left, but I could have exercised more oversight in that process while it was happening. They also put additional padding around items like my mirror, which I had not padded myself. And the final cost was far below the quoted estimate. I would recommend EMS to anyone planning to move in the Chicago area. I did not have to lift a finger and the price was reasonable. read more

These guys are excellent; personable, honest, straight shooters, thorough, efficient, and respectful of your belongings. They prepped everything for a long distance move, packed some of the most breakable items, and packed it all into a POD. Everything arrived cross-country in the POD without any damage whatsoever. The guys are very detailed upfront, provided me with options, answered all my questions, generated an appropriate estimate. They made the move so easy, I felt very confident everything would work out and it did. Absolutely recommend, so impressed with how they handled the move! read more

Avoid. We had a 2-stop move scheduled during the polar vortex and EMS canceled it, which was understandable, but then they wanted to reschedule us a full week later - past the first of the month and too late for our rental situation, and they offered us a discount. We told them that wouldn't work, as we'd have to pay another month's rent, and so they offered to move us out of our rental before the end of the month, but then wait on the second stop items until after the first, which seemed reasonable to us. Then they reneged on the discount offer, saying they would only give us a discount if we scheduled the entire move after the first of the month. And they were very rude to my wife over the phone. We ended up hiring another company which did the entire move the very next day. I asked them, and they were working during the polar vortex. They said it was not that bad. read more

Then I had a situation with EMS this week in which I was flabbergasted at a rude comment one of the movers made to me. I regret spending money with them this time around. Best money I've ever spent...well maybe not ever, but pretty darn close. Just bought a house, had to move from a 3rd story walk up condo to a single family home. I booked EMS a few weeks before the move, told them I would prefer morning. I got a call the afternoon before the move and was told the crew would be there between 8:30 and 9:30. Received a call at 8:30 and was told they were about 15 minutes away. Perfect, right when they said they'd be there. The crew leader came upstairs, did a quick walk through, took pictures of furniture, we took care of the paperwork and then he basically told me to just stand back and relax. 5 guys, and it took them 3 hours from start to finish. I have some pretty big pieces and they got every downstairs NO PROBLEM. When some of the furniture was delivered the delivery guys had all sorts of issues. We got to the house and I got the job of directing traffic. Just had to tell the guys what room I wanted things to go. The entire crew was super polite and they were careful with everything from the nice furniture to the cheap stuff. And finally, the final cost was at the low end of the estimate I received when I booked. Next time we move, I'm calling these guys. read more

Hmm...I really struggled with this review mainly because of the price to move a one bedroom apartment. Even with the estimate; it was a little over (not much, but for as much as it was, a little bit was more than enough to disappoint). So, here's what I learned: There were 5 people moving me which meant that 1 person basically didn't do much which also means I was paying per hour for someone extra. Pack up your mirrors and wrap your stuff on your own. They use tons of materials that will be charged to you (plus, I found some of the empty tape cartons thrown on my floor when I came back to clean the apartment). BUT, there were some pros to this company. 1. They took care of everything 2. Nothing was scratched 3. Yes, they had too many people, but either way, they were fast 4. They were very professional 5. They got to the new place in a speedy manner Overall, they were good and they stress being family owned. I'll try someone different next time and let you know the difference. Maybe EMS will be the best afterall. read more

There are several different feelings one gets when when you're watching movers take your posessions to your next destination.: 1. Grown up - you no longer need to stock the fridge with beer and order crap pizza to bribe your friends to help you (and let's face it - our friends are too foodie to be bribed w/ Bud Light and Dominos!) 2. Laziness - seriously. You stand out of the way and supervise. We drank early morning beers in the kitchen :) 3. Relief - you don't have to worry about a thing! EMS Movers was 3rd on the list of going down Yelp. And 3rd time was a charm. Brian helped me out on the phone, and despite the fact that while I was on the phone the date I was tryin to move (apparently a popular date!) was booked. But he manage to squeeze me in with an idea of moving at 6:30am! So up comes moving day - they ended up putting us in the 9-11am time slot for whatever reason (didn't argue, just happy they were coming!) and at about 9:30 Jason called me to let me know that they were on their way. And once I saw his tats I knew we were all going to get along a-okay! After a quick survey and box count, my count was almost double what I originally told them (it was a month and a half earlier! How am I suppose to know!?). So they told me my estimate may be higher than quoted. No problem, and thanks for being up front about it. And with the swipe of a pen, I signed my goods away to them and within 20 minutes all boxes were already out the door. Here's where it gets amazing...their attention to your furniture. Everything was wrapped, padded and taped beautifully! Even the cruddy furniture that looks like it belongs in the trash. They called us over to inspect scratches that were already on the pieces as well as taking photographs for their records (and protection) and everything fit on the truck and whoosh! to the next location. And here again, everything unwrapped and put back together. The bed alone would have taken me 3 hours, but to them it was about 15 minutes. There were 5 guys, each one super polite and crazy fast. They got it all done with 4.5 hours, right at the estimate instead of going over as predicted! Although going into this move, they weren't my first choice, they sure are now. Hopefully I won't be moving again any time soon, but I know others that are, and have already passed EMS Moving's info along. read more

I will not use EMS again and here is why. It does not have anything to do with the quality of the work. In April of 2011 my girlfriend had a good experience having EMS move all of her things to her new apartment. The quote was mid $400's - $500's and and final bill came out in that ball park. Now, on July of 2013, we are getting ready to move again but decided that this time we would use my van to move everything but the furniture to save on moving expenses. This would eliminate 35 - 45 boxes among other things likes lamps, mirrors, paintings, bikes, etc. I believe that we correctly assumed, especially as potential repeat customers, that by moving all of our own boxes and extraneous items this time around that the quote would be roughly the same or less than it was in 2011. And yes, I am considering inflation, etc. Now, I do not consider myself to be an unreasonable man. But when the quote to move just the furniture this time around was in the mid $500's - $600's I was very surprised. I called to ask if this was a mistake and offered the information regarding my girlfriend's former move, explaining politely that this didn't seem to add up. Instead of graciously reconsidering, admitting that things might have been a bit off, or offering to requote, the EMS employee only tried to explain why prices have gone up and that I should just hope that if it were to take the movers less time than expected than it would be reflected in my final bill. And while that line of reasoning is not completely out of line, it certainly does not make a potential repeat customer feel any type of loyalty to a business or want to book the movers. Whether it's because we are moving in peak moving season this time (7/2) and our slot will easily be filled without loss or whether EMS is simply raising prices because they can, I felt appalled by the interaction. It didn't help that the employee I was speaking with tried to end our conversation by saying "I hope this won't deter you from considering using us again in the future". OF COURSE I WON'T BE USING YOU AGAIN! And then I planted my face in the palms of my hands in disbelief and headed to fridge to crack open a beer. read more

Last year, I moved from my parent's house to my first studio apartment, which required one floor to ceiling-filled sedan. This year, I moved from my studio apartment to a two bedroom apartment and it required a moving company! I'm not sure how I accumulated so much... stuff, but after reading reviews on Yelp, I knew EMS would know how to pack it up and move it effortlessly. Although I am a grown-up-young-professional with a studio apartment full of IKEA, EMS still treated my furniture like it was high-end. On moving day, they packaged it up all pretty and swiftly loaded it onto their truck without me even noticing! Before I knew it, I was left in my apartment with two bags and they told me they'd "meet me on the other side," which was really only 3.5 miles away. They arrived at my new place before I did and were all set to play the game, "ready, set, unload!" Each minute, I was more impressed than the last; I felt useless just watching them unload boxes, put my bed back together, and hang the clothes in my closet. There were four guys assigned to the job, and the whole shebang was completed in 2.5 hours and some $300 later (not including tip). I hope I don't have to move again anytime soon, but if I do, of course I am calling EMS. The whole move was efficient and effortless; I couldn't have asked for anything better. read more

These guys are awesome!! I was very skeptical of hiring movers because of the horror stories I heard. I heard of things getting broken and the movers hiding it, them being late, etc. None of this happend! They were supposed to show up at my place at 7:30 am and they were there at 7:20 am. They got to my place, looked at our boxes, layout of the place and decided which way would be the fastest. They brought up the free wadrobe boxes and had us start packing while they brought boxes down. I could not believe the wardrobe boxes were free, they gave us as many as we wanted which was 10. Wardrobe boxes made the move so much easier and for that reason alone is a great reason to chose this company. In regards to packing up everything and making sure nothing was broken, they were very careful and organized. Packed all of our heavy furniture well and they did not even scratch one wall at the old or new place which is very impressive. The only thing they chipped was a bookshelf and they chipped a piece in the back and refunded us some money right on sight. And the guy who chipped it apologized at least 5 times, he was so sorry and he never tried to hide it. Overall this company was awesome and highly recommend using them. Here is why: 1) free wardrobe boxes 2) they were efficient, organized and professional 3) they were on time and finished very quickly 4) The quote they gave me was dead on 5) they are not super cheap but also not too expensive, you get what you pay for 6) Everyone spoke english, was energetic and friendly read more

Hot damn! My finest moving experience yet. It was easy picking these guys for the job...the quote was great, they were available for my moving day, and they were incredibly friendly. EMS reps kept in contact with me prior to my move and day-of communication was tops. The moving team arrived on time with ample (and, ahem, good looking) muscle power. My move was done in three hours and I moved from west Humboldt to uptown, which was at least a 35 min drive. The guys were fast, strong, professional, and smart. No damage to my stuff at all. My final bill was less than I was expecting so we had a pizza party to celebrate (hint: they apparently really dig pineapple pizza). Edit: I want to add that I have several pieces of very delicate and priceless (to me) antique furniture that I have inherited. I informed the movers of these pieces and witnessed them take particularly great care with them. I am pleased with how they handled my special items. USE THESE GUYS! read more

EMS Moving was recommended by the Door to Door storage/moving folks, though it's not required that you work with EMS if you're using DTD storage. I was a little hesitant too since I couldn't find much info on them, but am perfectly happy I went with EMS. Your arrangements go through Mike, who is just great. He is pleasant, walked through everything in detail with me and is prompt in returning your calls. I had four movers move everything I owned into the truck. They arrived right on time, and were very quick and efficient. After having the 2 DTD units moved from Chicago to San Francisco, I just unpacked everything and found everything in good shape. There were just a few things that were wrapped and protected that I didn't think needed to be, and then things that I wished they'd protected instead (my bookshelves). A bit scratched up, though I suppose if you want your things well padded, you should just do it yourself. In the end, their price is very reasonable, everyone was pleasant to work with, and overall such a painless experience. A nice surprise. read more

I moved a few years ago with an amazing moving company that brought like 15 guys, did a great job and charged me $200... and somehow I forgot the name of the place, ugh, though something tells me in this economy their prices may have gone up a little. Got an online quote in less the 24hrs from EMS and I was shocked to see the cost be between $400-$500, especially since I dont even have any living room furniture. I was also slightly surprised when they called me the day before my move to tell me they were coming at 7am... I don't even get up that early to go to work. ah. They arrived right on time and as I opened they garage door to meet them they were all standing in a line as the garage door crept up, totally a movie moment. These guys are stronger than they look and definitley polite as can be. I kept throwing extra closets and things in to the mix and they were always more than happy to oblige. They wrap up everything in shrink wrap. All in all after they brought my 2,000 pounds of clothes up to my new 4th floor walk up and 2.5 hrs had passed I was quite surprised with the $400 bill, in a good way. Totally worth it. read more

I was a bit hesitant to use EMS as I had used only one moving company in Chicago and they were booked the day I needed them. However, they ended up being just as awesome! What a quick and efficient move! These guys specialize in moving stuff into moving containers (Door to Door moving, PODS, etc.) so if you are doing that type of move, they are the guys to call! They really know what's going on, from coordinating with the moving container company & helping them to find a spot to park the moving container, to playing tetris and getting all your stuff to fit inside that tiny little box. Very friendly, a LARGE team (6 or 7 men - I was NOT prepared to tip appropriately for that!), and truly caring about your belongings - they wrapped up things I wouldn't have even bothered wrapping. My only complaint is that while the quote was spot on, there were 100$ in supplies that I wasn't prepared to pay for - I totally understand but am just slightly annoyed because maybe when booking there should be a little warning about an estimated "generalized supply cost".. read more

These fellas were like a tornado of movers that picked up my apartment and dropped it off a mile away! The arrived promptly on time and from the beginning it was obvious that they were super professionals at moving. The crew chief started going over paperwork while I gave a tour of the house, and after that they set at it in a very organized (and speedy!) fashion. Entire load-up took about 45 minutes, and then they were off to our new house to unpack. When we arrived at the new place, they had called in reinforcements to help speed up the unload. There were three extra guys ready to help out. The unload process was very quick also, taking about an hour and a half. Throughout the whole time the crew chiefs were keeping me informed of progress and any decisions that I needed to make. They even told me they were running a little over their estimated effort and that our price would be on the high side of the estimate. Overall, very good. About $600 to move a 2br apartment into a 3br duplex, with 1 mile of travel. read more

These are the BEST MOVERS I've ever had! Ever! And I have moved a lot. They were courteous and professional from the moment I contacted them. And although I am embarrassed to admit this, I accidentally scheduled my move for the wrong day! I reserved Feb 28th instead of January 28th. Oops! When we figured out the mistake, mind you the day before, I went into panic mode. However, they rearranged their schedule to accommodate me! And like most people, I underestimated the amount of stuff I actually own. I was afraid they were going to charge me double, but the extra amount I paid was reasonable and fair. My friends and I are originally from California who are in Chicago for med school. We're living in the dorms our first two years and when summer came, we needed a place to store our stuff (or pay empty rent...which definitely wouldn't be financially wise). Door to Door suggested EMS and EMS has been one of the best suggestions ever! Mike is very friendly, flexible, and easy to deal with. He not only complied with our nitty gritty details and somewhat complicated situation, but also gave us a great deal that was very affordable when split amongst the four of us. Most place would incur all these extra fees but Mike was great about it and if one of us needed to get our stuff early from storage--no problem, in fact, they'd even have it all sort out and retrieved so she didn't have to go through the whole storage container to find her stuff. Also, they take a picture for you after they've delivered all your stuff to the actual Door to Door storage site so you can rest assure that all your belongings have arrived. Talk about service! The rest of Mike's team (the movers) were on time, super quick, efficient, and friendly. They could have given us a hard time with us girls and our excessive loads of crap but they didn't even blink an eye. Moving is one of the things I dread most but with EMS, it was so simple and easy. I found EMS from Yelp, so that's why I'm back here giving another thumbs up. I moved from a studio in Edgewater to a one-bedroom in Lincoln Park. I called them on Thursday and talked to Dave, who said he could fit me in the following Monday. He then called me to follow up on Friday and see how everything was going (I had given him a lot details and there was a lot up in the air). That sealed the deal -- he was really attentive even before I had committed to anything. I don't have a lot of stuff and it's not fancy or expensive, but I do take good care of my furniture and like it to be treated well. The movers -- Jason, Gene, and two other guys whose names I don't remember -- were sooooo careful with everything! They shrink wrapped the couch, bagged the mattress, even brought in some old boxes to protect my marble coffee table. They hustled too -- the most idle time was waiting for the elevator. They had done two other moves before me, so I expected them to be kind of tired (especially since there was a fair amount of walking involved between apt. and truck) but they were really quick. Jason in particular was super helpful, stacking all the boxes neatly, cleaning up all the pieces of plastic and cardboard after unwrapping stuff, putting different boxes in different rooms. All in all I was impressed. And happy, because it only took 2.3 hours to move everything! What a relief. Thanks guys - I will definitely recommend you to others! read more

(Full disclosure: the EMS guys who moved us encouraged me to review them on Yelp, but I would have given them a big ol' 5-star review even without the encouragement.) Our experience with EMS started with calls to/from both Mike and Dave they were totally on their game, returning calls promptly and they were very good to deal with. We were scrambling to make our short-notice move happen and they totally delivered. We moved with EMS a week ago -- they picked up our stuff at a storage locker in the burbs and moved it to a condo in the west-loop. It started out surprisingly -- they got there *early*, like 20 minutes early -- thankfully I was ready for them! After that good start, everything went smoothly, all the guys were nice and definitely had some hustle to them. Thus far, I haven't found anything broken in the move -- this was my biggest worry, of course... Cost-wise, they pretty much met the estimate I got over the phone, dead-on. We hardly needed any moving supplies from them, but what we did use was not over-priced and the hourly rate was reasonable. I had a great experience with EMS!! I was a little nervous about going with a moving company that was different than the one I used for my last move, but Brian was very re-assuring in our conversations before the move. On the actual moving day, Chris and about 6 other guys showed up, were very nice, and had me completely moved in about 2 hours (without breaking anything). Overall, what you get with EMS is honesty. They charged well within the $100 range of an estimate Brian originally gave me (which I really appreciated), they don't have a minimum number of hours required per job, and they will seriously do whatever it takes to make your move easier while trying to provide the lowest cost for you. I highly recommend this company and fully intend on using them for my next move (which, hopefully, won't be for a while--I'm looking forward to staying in Lincoln Square for many years to come). read more

I emailed EMS three days before the last day of the month to see if they could move me. Within an hour, David Marshall from EMS called me back and assured me that they could help me move, despite it being such a big moving day. He checked in with me twice more prior to the move, and really made me feel secure that they would be there at the time they had scheduled, and that the move would be an easy one. On the day of the move, David came with four other guys, and they got right to work. Everyone on the crew was kind, efficient and helpful. They arrived right on time and moved me in less than two hours, and that included a 20 minute commute. They worked very hard and landed at the low end of their quote. I have moved ten times in the city of Chicago and never has a moving experience been so pleasurable and easy. I highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed! read more

This is my first time being "all grown up" and using mover for my move so I honestly don't have anything to compare to. I have a number of friends that have used EMS and were extremely satisfied! Also read all of the reviews on Yelp so said to myself "self, lets make the call!" I have to say I was VERY impressed. We handled everything over the phone until the actual move. I stressed that we had a LOT of shit to move. Move day finally arrives and 3 men and a 16' truck arrive at the house. After the initial walk through, I was told and I quote "you have a LOT of shit!" 45 minutes later a much larger truck and 4 additional men arrive. All were very courteous and very careful of our "shit". Not a single thing was broken. They also quoted my price right on! No surprises, tons of tacked on fees, etc. I was very satisfied and would recommend them to all I know. read more

At first I have written a review on EMS about how disappointed I was in their call back time. But, a day after I had written my disappointed review, one of the owners of the company called me. Dave was excellent. Not only did he completely turn around my perspective of the company, but in the end the work they did was like nothing I had ever seen before! Their communication was excellent throughout the process up to the day of the move. I have never been moved by movers before, so I didn't really know what to expect but WOW. They arrived on time (in the suburbs no less) with two trucks and a team of several movers. I almost couldn't believe my eyes!! Within 10 minutes they had almost completely cleared an entire room. They were all incredibly professional and corteous. I didn't have to give them any direction. They just moved. It was beautiful. Within a few hours, everything was completely done (and with moving from the suburbs to the city, including travel time) and everything was in tact. I will never move without movers again, and I will hopefully never have to move without the assistance of EMS ever again. They made something that was completely stressful into a something that was completely done before I knew it. And to top it off, Dave gave me a tube of Triple Paste for my four month old! I love these guys! The first time I used them was to go from the 15th floor of an East Lakeview apartment to the first floor of a Wicker Park apartment. They were so fast and not a single thing broke. They were so great that I used them a second time when we moved out of the Wicker Park apartment to our new house in Niles. They were even faster! And again, nothing broken! Whenever I call they know who I am, joke around with me, make me feel very comfortable. And, I know the ladies will understand this, they actually TALK TO ME! I'm used to vendors like movers only addressing my husband and pretty much ignoring me. Not these guys. I really appreciated it. Not that I'll be moving for awhile, but I will totally use them again. My move to chicago a few years back was hellish-- terrible movers, terrible experience. This time I went to Yelp first and Yelp kicked ass by steering me to EMS. They told me the move would cost high 500 to mid 600s.... Came in around 500. Beyond that-- the crew was professional, friendly, and clean. This turned out to be a very good decision. A good experience right from the get-go. I think the name of the guy that gave me the quote was Steve who was responsive and helpful via email and over the phone. To confirm everything, I received a call from Dave who went over the details with me. Dave was so nice and helpful and made me feel very comfortable about having decided to go with these movers who I hadn't used before. He was very friendly and actually reminded me of my dad which was funny and awesome. :) I was told that the movers would arrive between 10 and 12 which they did AND they called me when they were on their way which helped my moving day anxiety. They showed up with a crew of 4 men. Jason was the crew member that was organizing the move kind of calling the shots and he did so very well. It was awesome to watch. They were so efficient and amazingly professional! They took really good care of all of my stuff. Also, they were very friendly, no BS and ready to work upon arrival--dove right in. They communicate so well with each other and it's an impressively well-oiled machine. They took my stuff to a storage space where just as efficiently and professionally as they had loaded my stuff, they "tetris-ed" it into the storage space in a way that can surely only be done by professionals. All the delicates on top, optimizing the space. I spent some time speaking with another gentleman that was part of the crew. I forgot to get his name which pains me, because I wanted to personalize a shout out to him in case his boss reads these reviews. I think he was the "loader" and he is in several of the crew pictures in their Yelp profile- He was a older than the other crew members, small stature, had a beard. He asked me how I heard of them and when I said 'Yelp' he said "great, please review us." which is something his boss should be very proud of. I'm in sales and I know how important it is to ask customers how they found the company so that they know where they are getting traction and also to ask customers to share their opinion and help promote new business. Well done. They quoted me "Mid $200s to mid $300s". Despite the fact that I ended up buying some packing materials from them and having them package some items that I didn't cite when getting the quote, my total including all of that was $360. Worth every penny! My friend was there with me as they were wrapping up my furniture, watching in disbelief at how fast and perfect of a job they were doing. He remarked "I'm always in awe of people who are so good at their jobs". That really summed it up in my mind. These guys are the best! read more

I discovered EMS by accident - and what an excellent discovery! These guys were the best. I had decided to put my stuff in PODS storage and that is how I came upon EMS (they transfer stuff to and from PODS, since PODS can't park in Chicago). Working with Marshall to set up the "shuttle" of my stuff from my apartment to my POD was my first clue that I was dealing with a top-notch company. He was so professional, kind, and reassuring. The quote I was given was very reasonable. The day of my move, I was strung out, exhausted, and hadn't been able to finish packing all of my stuff (and I have a ton of stuff...) I was worried about how expensive my move was going to become. I needn't have worried. My EMS moving team - led by the awesome Justin and Chris - arrived bright and early - all seven of them! Justin, after seeing how much needed to be done, quickly reassured me. He requoted me and and continually updated me on what they were doing (materials they were using, how they were going to pack, etc.). Like many others have said, they were indeed fast, friendly, careful. I have antique pieces that they took excellent care of. The final cost came out only a few hundred more, and that was under what Justin had requoted me. They made my move a really good experience. Wow - how often can you say that? I am so grateful for all of their help and professionalism. I will use them again when I get my stuff out of the POD.... and for any and all future moves! They are simply great. 5 Stars, all the way!! EMS moved me twice in the past month (once to storage and then to a new apartment) and they were fabulous. David was great at coordinating the move and both of the teams they sent were hard workers and really got things done. The complicated move had 2 pick ups and one delivery but they didn't bat an eye. I really appreciated that if I made a special request about how a piece of furniture be picked up or moved, they respected my request and followed through. After being jerked around by Midway Moving last fall, it has been a pleasure to work with a company who is hard working and respectable. I will absolutely hire this company again. I once got scammed by a moving company, and I've been leery of movers since then. We reserved our moving date with EMS Moving, on the basis of their great Yelp reviews, but I was still worried that we'd get scammed again. The price they quoted seemed too good to be true. The responsiveness to questions seemed like a ploy to pull us in so they could sorely disappoint us later. What? You mean we can use the wardrobe moving boxes, free of charge? Yeah, right! No way that would happen in reality. I fully expected some astronomical surcharge to show up on the bill once they loaded our stuff into their truck. Phew! I am SO glad that EMS Moving proved to be all that they (and Yelp!) claimed them to be. No scammers here! Our final bill was less than the quote. The movers were friendly and extremely careful with our stuff. The wardrobe boxes WERE free! And, they were fast. Very, very fast. Call them. You won't regret it. read more

On Wednesday Sept. 6, I hired EMS to help me move. I had never hired a moving company before, and I was a bit nervous about it. They arrived on time, they were very organized, and worked quickly and efficiently at each stop during my move. They were very respectful of my home and belongings at each stage of the move. Best of all however, was that Tim's team, was polite, friendly and positively fantastic to work with. The icing on the cake? My bill came in UNDER our initial quote. Thank you EMS and Tim for making my first "mover" experience a fantastic one. I would have gotten a lot more sleep last night if I knew my move today would go so smoothly. Of course, I had an inkling, as each time I spoke with Dave prior to the big day, his confident, easygoing manner calmed my nerves--but still, moving is never simple. The team of guys that showed up right on time today were friendly, fast and extremely efficient. The range I was quoted initially was spot-on, even with some last minute extras like bags and tape, etc. I'd use them again and recommend them to others. read more
