Ordered take out. Got home and found that the order was wrong. One of the entrees had been labeled as ordered, but inside the package was grilled corn. We couldn't get anyone on the phone, but we drove over and we quickly got the replacement for the missing entree. Service gets an A. Food portions are huge (I couldn't even eat half of a burrito.) I chose the smothered & slathered which turned out to be too spicy and too little on flavor for my taste. Another of us had the queso covered burrito which was quite good. This place was SO good. It was one of the first places I visited in Richmond and they numerous options for pescatarians, vegetarians, GF and vegans - so many options. And the menu is very diverse and not so pricey. Very casual atmosphere and the waiter seemed very knowledgeable about the menu items. The patio was lovely and though it's on a busy road the patio has trees and a nice aesthetic so you don't really notice it. DOG FRIENDLY. Saw some great puppers on the patio as well and tbh that's enough for me to come back. I got the tacos and they were mix and match style so I ordered one black bean and two fish. Both amazing. Im Celiac (no wheat) and this restaurant makes it so east to find things i can eat!!- And I want to note that my mother, who is also Celiac and much pickier about wheat-free restaurants, loves it too! The chips and bottomless salsa is amazing- and its always worth getting the guacamole with it for an extra few bucks! The tacos are inexpensive and DELICIOUS, the margaritas are hefty and boozy, and in nice weather they open up their garage-door-walls and the whole place becomes a patio. My daughter and I visited En Su Boca this past Saturday. I had a burrito and it was excellent. My daughter had a quesadilla and she was very pleased. She ordered a double order of the rice and loved it. She's very hard to please. We're pretty average folks and the restaurant is very "hipster" but the food is excellent and the service was very good as well. It was quite loud but loads of fun. Went here recently for the first time with a party of 4. The wait was a little long, but well worth it. For the longer waits, the restaurant is in easy walking distance of several local breweries to help pass the time. We shared the 10-plate of tacos and carnitas burrito. The tacos are packed with meat and are quite filling. I would also highly recommend getting the bottoms chips and salsa for $3. There are 3 varieties of salsa included, all of which were delicious. I almost didn't try this place out because of the yelp reviews but I'm so glad we ended up going! we will definitely be back. service: great! they kept checking in on us, gave us a drink on the house when they brought us the wrong beer and were quick to grab more chips, water etc. when we were running low. food: so good and filling! I thought the flavors were a bit different than a lot of other mexican restaurants in the area. the habanero salsa is definitely worth a try if you like spicy foods, the guacamole was simple but delicious, the slow roasted pork burrito was filled to the brim with meat (I could only eat half of it and I love putting food away...) and the guy who ordered the quesadilla was raving about it! I also love that they serve micheladas (beer with chili sauce, lime and worcestershire served with a salt rim) - you don't see those on many menus in the area. they're kind of expensive ($7) considering just the beer is $3-$5 but you're out to eat already, might as well give it a try! read more

En Su Boca has a lot going for it. The chips, guacamole, and salsa are amazing. The burritos are delicious. The fish tacos are incredible. The drink specials are reasonable. The decor looks great and the patio is a really pleasant place to hang out on warm evenings. That being said, the service is spotty. Sometimes I'll go there and have great service and other times it's as if the server has never interacted with people before. For the most part the prices are reasonable, but random things will be overpriced (like the sangria, wtf?) While the fish and pork tacos are flavorful and delicious, the chicken taco is bland. Overall, I still like the place and will continue to keep coming back. They still are less than a year old so I hope they work out some of their kinks. I love this place! Fish tacos are on point. The other tacos are really good as well ( I like the carne asada) . The salsas are amazing and they have something for every spiciness level. I highly recommend restaurant if you are in the area. We live not too far away and enjoy coming here. So let's break it down. Pros- -Eating outside- this place has a very nice area to eat outside while the weather is nice. However during cold weather months you will have to wait awhile (45-60 min) on a busy night, but it is worth the wait. -Vegan Chorizo anything- So my GF loves the Vegan food here and she highly recommends the food. -Chips- The chips are homemade and you have to ask for them, but they are worth purchasing and adding to your meal, they are bottomless! -Sloppy Jose- So this was my go-to order when we came here since that was what I ventured out and ordered once and went with it every time I visited.....until recently! -Wings- So the wings are delicious and very nice sized portion, each wing, and the number of them. I am not a spice lover but these are a great blend and not too spicy for myself. I will probably be ordering these from now on, but I usually stick with the Jose or the Wings. Cons- The only one I have is the lack of seating during the cold months. We went a couple times during these cold nights and had to wait around an hour in a crowded bar area and then moved out to hallway. So my GF loves coming here and demanded that I take her out for dinner, (for what reason? I am not sure, but she deserves it!) It was a cold night so we expected to have to wait. The wait we were told would be over an hour. I was figuring it to be around 45 minutes because I always think that places give you a high estimate so you are happy when it is a shorter wait. Anyways, we waited about twenty minutes in the bar area with about 20 other people and not much area to move around. We decided to head out into the enclosed walkway, where luckily there was a small space heater!. So after waiting out here about 10 min. I decided to be friendly and to keep my ADD at bay, and was opening the door and holding it for everyone coming in and out. I had a little fun with it, thanking everyone who was coming out for potentially giving us our table. Long story short, while waiting a gentleman working noticed us waiting patiently and came out and asked us if we wanted drinks, bringing them promptly and then even bringing us chips and salsa. We paid for them in the end, which wasn't a big deal I expected to. It was just friendly of him to do. After about another 20 minutes we made our way back into the bar area and "our friend" found us waiting again and got us refills and then a couple minutes later got us a seat at the bar. Cool place. Fri night its packed though. Many people there for happy hour. Be prepared to have to find parking and wait. This should not deter you though. The huevos diablos were good. I loved the street corn. Their chips are more like fried pita but i liked them with the salsas. I got a variety of tacos and they are spicy just about where I Wouldn't want it any spicier. My company also got tacos and burritos and everyone enjoyed it. The restaurant doesn't have many tables inside. But looks like it would be fun to eat outside in the spring and summer.. Love en su boca and you won't convince me otherwise. Have been here more times than I can count and have only been unimpressed with the service once due to a checked out waiter (but this was probably a year ago). We used to go for the tacos and chips and salsa trio but have recently discovered the nachos with carne asada. The frozen margaritas are so good and a great mix of tequila and marg mix (you can actually rate the tequila). We've also had the wings a number of times and never leave unimpressed! As long as they keep packing the flavor in the tacos, using fresh ingredients, and not skimping in the tequila in the Margs I don't see why we wouldn't stop coming back. Pro tip: if you want to try them during happy hour or on the weekend make sure you come early or prepare to wait. It's a small place that gets a lot of business so waits are not uncommon but we are always prepared to drink a marg while we wait or sit at the bar. read more

My first time going here was with a few friends one day and it was packed. It's a small popular place we knew it would be and we did not mind. We grabbed a drink at the bar and went outside to wait for our table.. They said the wait would be an hour and we were pleasantly surprised after 35 mins to get seated. I got a sampler of tacos, the veggie and fish tacos were to die for.. The pork not so much. The ceviche appetizer was amazing but the chips and salsa tasted like baked Lays chips and ketchup. I have been back a few times when the fish tacos are calling my name! I'll finish this off by saying the service was outstanding from start to finish. That's why this is a 3-star review. In my opinion, the tacos were not as carefully crafted as the scene. Nothing was "wrong" with the food that would have warranted sending it back. Some people like sweet margaritas. I simply was not impressed by the food. I left feeling like the prices were too high based on the quality of the food I received. To me, it felt like a pale imitation of of Tacolicious. This is my subjective opinion. Obviously there are folks who disagree with me, and I am glad they enjoy En Su Boca! There is room in this world for many perspectives on tacos. The atmosphere is cute and the food is decent but the service leaves something to be desired. Went there with a friend before a movie. Went about an hour and a half before the movie and almost didn't make in time because our food took forever and then it took an additional forever for our check to be delivered. Overpriced for the quality of food. Masks and social distancing not enforced which made us feel uncomfortable walking up to the takeout window. On arriving home we noticed the condiments and toppings were not present as advertised in the menu. We also asked for chips and salsa which were not in our bag and were supposed to be included. We were going to go back to the window to correct the situation,but opted not to go back into the crowd of people for safety reasons. Really good tacos, but it's the salsa that sells this place. Order the bottomless chips with three salsas and you won't regret it. I still can't decide which was my favorite. The mild is refreshing and light, the medium has a smoky undertone, and the hot has a sweetness that makes it not too hot.
