I don't know about you all, but I am getting SO sick of by paying to be treated poorly! Husband and I were visiting Portland, so I couldn't get my regular mani pedi back home. Made an appointment for 2 and we weren't seen until after 240 pushing back our dinner plans with our family. Strike one. They barely acknowledged that they were late. Strike two. Normally I wear my earbuds because I hate overhearing conversations, but I was with my husband. I don't care if you're speaking another language in front of me. I do, however, object to being ridiculed right in front of my face. And then paying for it. I will go on the record saying I am not a gargoyle nor do I need a sandblaster to get a proper pedicure. A cheese grater does just fine. Sadly, it should go without saying, that even if I were the mysterious Sasquatch from these parts out for her first mani-pedi in *ever*, these women had no business making fun of anyone. I believe we should uplift each other so I'm not going to mention what they looked like. But because I can, I will say they have a lot of chutzpah saying anything about anyone. I've never been a big fan of businesses pointing out their clients' flaws, or just as annoying, asking about their routine and no matter what they say, immediately saying, "oh no, that's all wrong, here buy this " That said, they're My cuticles. I religiously get my nails done so my hands don't look like bricklayer's. I know they're dry, but to have one say "cuticles" (their language) then one say to me, "you know you have thick cuticles!" And in a sneery way. Had I been another sort of person (and my husband wasn't there) there might have been words, or had I been terribly sensitive, I might've left and humiliated. Completely unprofessional. I could go on and say more about the entire pathetic experience, but this is the worst part of it. And of course, I didn't like my nails (neither did my husband) but forgot to take a pictures. read more

I believe they have changed ownership. There has been a remodel and change of staff. Like most places, the prices have gone up too. I took my daughter to get a pedicure. I called ahead for the appointment. When I arrived the woman barely understood me. They need one person who fully understands English. She assumed it was for 2 people when I kept saying one person. Then I payed by card and she said you pay tip? Even before the service. This turned me off. Then she asked my daughter if she knew me? She said ; yes, that's my Mom. So I guess I will be looking around for a new nail spa. I will say the finished pedicure was nice and my daughter tipped them. Thus a 4 star review. read more

I love giving small businesses a try. Unfortunately this one was disappointing. A few things: -I called first to ensure they could squeeze me in for a walk in (they could), and then went in for tips (nail extensions) and dipping powder. When I got there, the whole place was being remodeled. I should've walked out then, as the whole place was in disarray. BUT- let's put that aside for the sake of reviewing quality of the nails only: -The manicurist was scrambling everywhere to find the materials to do my nails (ok- under remodel- slightly understandable) -they expect you to bring your own nail files (first salon I've ever been to that does that)- eventually they found some I could use and made sure to tell me to bring them back each time (ok- not my fav but that's how they do it here then I just didn't know) -they never asked me what nail shape I wanted, I eventually realized and told them after I realized they were cutting the tips square -the quality of the materials being used did not seem clean. For example, the brush they use on the fingers post dipping in powder- the brush was in terrible shape and I actually felt like I was getting more powder and dust on me from the brush than what it was taking off. Minus one star- cleanliness and comfort is important. -the "round" shape was filed very unevenly on my nails. Minus one star- this is ultimately what I'm paying for. -the skin around the nail on my pinky was raw after and sore for multiple days (still healing). Minus one star- I've never had a salon damage my finger before. -after 2 days, the top coat on my thumbnails started peeling off. (At other salons, my nails usually last ~6 weeks without any peeling, chips, etc.). Minus one star, what I paid for didn't even last half a week. It's a week from Christmas but my daughter and I decided to pop in anyway. They were busy, so we made an appointment for a bit later that same day. I like that they are realistic and don't say yes to everyone, like other salons, thus giving everyone their undivided attention, and not rushing everyone doing a half-ass job. Very good customer service, pedicure was so relaxing and my toes look great! My daughter got a full set of nails and for the first time she was happy with the way they shaped them! We hate the bulky, platypus look. She asked for coffin-shape and that's exactly what she got. They have two new customers for sure! read more

Owner deleted my original review on Google. Guess he didn't like what I had to say about his poor business practices and customer service. See below for original review. BE WARNED. Went in after receiving an email about new management and discount promotion. Pedicure was average, although pricey for what you get. I had originally booked an acrylic manicure with gel, but the technician wouldn't take no for an answer and insisted I get dip and extensions instead (which cost more). I'm getting this mani + pedi since I'll bridesmaid for a wedding so I decided to splurge a little knowing dip usually comes out look very nice. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. The technician tried to talk me into a different color than what I requested and she ended up cutting me / stabbing me a few times under my nail beds with the tools. To top it off the shape I requested she did not do (even though I asked her a few times to change it throughout the process) and all my nails are unevenly shaped. Very disappointing and they look sloppy. I would recommend NOT coming here, there are much better salons to try in Portland worth your money and time. read more

I am new to Portland and don't have a go-to nail salon here. Because eNails is only a few blocks away I decided to give them a shot. After 3 visits I feel compelled to review (in bullet point form, 'cause it's easier). The Pros: - The atmosphere is great. It's clean and done up in a very spa-like fashion. There's soft music with water/beach sounds playing and the lighting is very dim, conducive to a relaxing experience. - The midlevel pedicure is excellent. They do a hot wax and massage and warm towel wrap. It felt faboosh! - There are a million high quality (OPI and China Glaze) colors to choose from. - The wine is complimentary (and you can choose red or white). - The staff is friendly and speak English fluently. The Cons: - They don't take direction well and stick to their standard routine. I'm a hiker and need my toenails cut super short. They debate with me every time and still don't cut them short enough. - They aren't the most skilled callus removers. Again, I hike, I have rough feet and need a skilled technician to remove my calluses. - They always ask (awkwardly) if I can pay in cash. It's off-putting and makes me uncomfortable. Overall, it's a good nail salon, but it could use improvement. For now I will keep looking for the perfect fit which means I will be trying out a couple of the other salons in Sellwood. read more

Three stars for my experience this week because: 1. I asked for the pedicure with the paraffin wax but got the salt scrub instead. 2. I asked her to avoid a certain part of my leg with the salt scrub but she actually scrubbed that area harder than the rest of my leg. 3. She said the charge for manicure without color was $14 but charged me $15 4. She cut my toe while cutting the cuticle and it hurt like a mofo for a few hours. 5. She was doing my nails so fast (because someone else was waiting) that she was practically throwing my hand around and looking behind her a lot. She pretty much abandoned the job. 6. My one toe was cut way shorter than the other. I've been here a few times and it's not usually this bad, but the language barrier was a problem this time and sometimes it feels like they're trying to cram so many people in that they lose the customer service part that's important. Also when I paid a 20% tip, she spent more time giving me attention and it felt very inauthentic. I gave her 20% because I think they work too long and too hard and probably don't make much- their bosses are the ones making the money. read more

Every Time I get my nails done here it's a different price! If you don't shorten your nails they change $5 more if you do sho them they still change $5. They change $30 for a nail color change? I got my nails done 2 weeks a and got changed $45 with gel polish. Today I got my nail filled and regular nail polish and got charged $46! WTF??? This place will nickel and dime you for anything you want done! Plus today the new owner did my nails and half of them are fatter then the other nails and when he was done painting my nails he smiled at me and said to sit there for 30 minutes because I chose regular nail polish and walked away laughing! Their gel/shellack manicures lasts longer than at other salons because they take extra time to do a great job! eNails is very service oriented and even offers 4 choices of a beverage to enjoy while showing music videos to watch.I tried 6 other salons before them but return to eNails because they are the best! The Manager is warm and welcoming and friendly people are what I like. I remain a loyal customer, even though I moved out of the Sellwood area, because they exceed my expectations. I'm getting a pedicure - I don't know what the hell for? I mean it's gross, dark, and rainy out...not heading to Mexico anytime soon. I dash across the street after I park. I am excited to try a new salon (new to me). The reception was fair. They were not very busy, so were able to accommodate my walk-in pedicure request. I sat down into the chair and the tub of water they got started for me was not very hot. I prefer it really hot. The workmanship was solid. I picked the Classic Pedicure option for $35. The technician cut my nails and did a nice job. Not much massage, but efficient. My polish was an OPI called Didgeridoo Your Nails. Ambiance was pleasant - no TVs, a little music, a nice rock garden in the middle of the salon. They offer complimentary beverage. I chose a hot tea, but saw Alcohol offered, too. When I left, she wrapped my toes in saranwrap to protect it from my boots that I wore in. I didn't have flip flops. She promised if it smudged, to return the next day for fix. One big toe did smudge. The rest were spared. Clean restroom. I would recommend. read more

I had high hopes for eNails after seeing the interior - large, spacious, quiet atmosphere, very clean. I stopped in today on a whim as a walk-in for a gel manicure. I don't get my nails done often, but I wanted to give myself a relaxing treat after a very stressful day at work. When I entered the salon, I wasn't greeted at the front desk, I was shouted at across the salon by one of the nail technicians. The woman who did my nails (couldn't tell you who as the techs do not wear nametags) didn't ask me what shape I wanted my nails before she started filing them down with a nail file of questionable cleanliness, and clipped off my cuticles so sloppily and gruffly that six hours later, my fingers are still sore and I have scabs forming where my cuticles used to be. In my few experiences with nail salons, they have always asked what shape I'd like my nails and have pushed back my cuticles and only clipped off hangnails, instead of just removing the cuticles completely without asking. The color I chose was an OPI gel color called "My Private Jet." I chose it because I've had a manicure in that color at another nail salon, and it was beautiful! The color is a bit on the sheer side though. My nail technician did two coats that were sloppy and rushed - she did not cap any of my nails, so it looks very bizarre and unprofessional. She didn't ask me if it looked okay after the two thin, streaky coats she applied, and immediately began applying topcoat before I had a chance to really look at the nails or say anything about the quality of the job. At this point, I was resigned to having a bad manicure and just let her finish so I could leave. She gave me a rough, hurried, and extremely unrelaxing hand massage (if you can even call it that), took my money, and I went on my way. On the way out, my technician asked me if I wanted to enter a drawing for a free manicure, and I did, but I wouldn't go back to this place even for free! I'm shocked at how many great reviews this place has. Maybe I just had a bad technician? In the car I looked at my nails and I wanted to cry at how poor the workmanship was and how much my cuticles stung. I was too emotionally beaten down from my work day to go back and complain but I wouldn't recommend eNails to anyone. Healthy Nails is the salon I normally go to in my neighborhood when I want a manicure and the service/quality is head and shoulders above eNails. read more

Worst manicure I've ever received. They rushed through it and then overcharged me by 4 dollars. I was never offered a "menu" for type of manicure I wanted and never offered any beverage. This is a new salon in Sellwood and not crowded (yet). I say, "yet" because it's a pretty nice new place and I can tell they are going to bring in a lot of clientele. They have about 10 chairs and the place is super clean, nicely decorated. They even have an Aesthetician available for wax, brow tinting, lash tinting, facials. Her name is Mai. She did brow wax and tint and a pink and white fill and she is very meticulous! Very happy with the results! The place is spacious and clean. The owner is a real nice gentleman. They are all super friendly! It has a spa atmosphere as well. All that's missing is a massuese. The only negatives is that there aren't many nail techs. Sometimes they can be late on appointments (like most salons). The plus - you can have wine, beer, champagne, or softdrinks as you get your services done! Full service mani - pedi! I recently went in and had a manicure done here. It was a frustrating experience because although the spa was very clean and they were polite, the manicurist cut me 3 times during the actual manicure. I told her at one point that what she was doing was painful and to stop, she continued and made my finger bleed. I showed her the cut and asked to be more delicate and careful. She continued to do the same thing to two other fingers! After she was done, I asked her about doing a top coat. She said she already did it, but within the afternoon, the manicure was peeling off. This was my one and only experience there, so perhaps there are other manicurists that would treat you better. read more

Love! This is by far one of my favorite nail salons. The girls speak really good English, the pricing is fair, it's CLEAN and there is a huge selection of nail polishes. The massages are great and my feet feel WONDERFUL definitely worth a try! Complimentary tea, soda, wine, etc. iPads too! I am lucky to pass this place everyday to work, otherwise I may not have found it. It was a greg experience. The owner was VERY friendly and the salon is exceptionally clean, the decor was pretty. They have SOOOO many colors of nail polish and they even offer complimentary drinks! This was my first time getting a shellac manicure and as the owner mentioned they have WAYY more color options than most salons. The lady who did my nails was wonderful, very friendly and did an outstanding job. she cut them perfectly and they turned out fantastic--- I've gone back since and their service has gone down hill. Two times I had gone I was cut on my toe. Pretty bad, enough to make me bleed, a lot. They just kept going and didn't acknowledge I was bleeding and had pretty significantly cut my toe. read more

The other salon was booked up today so I stopped by the next available one in the area-- which was eNails. Customer service is lacking--almost get the vibe that they don't really want to be there. Only two people there today were greeting people as they walked in--which was minimal. Only two people came by within the hour and a half I was there. Not sure if the polish I picked was tricky to paint--but my manicure is slightly better than if I painted it myself. I used to get my nails done professionally bi weekly for over 2 years between shellac and regular manis. My mani today is not good. I expect it to chip in a day or two-- and can't wait for the paint on my skin to peel off. The manicurist was nice--but I completely understand why this place is always empty. read more

I get shellac mani and pedi and waxing services (face) and all my experiences have been top notch. Very good attention to detail, they take credit cards plus have a no fee ATM. They don't necessarily double up on the Services so it might take 2 hours plus with shellac on both hands and toes but they don't rush or skimp on massage time and as a result my shellac lasts really long here. read more
