I have had bad experiences with other salons, I was recommended here by someone who has been coming here for 20 years, last Thursday I came in, this was my 5th visit, I received a pedicure my cuticles were really short and didn't need trimmed but she did it anyway , no lie it was a little painful, I was really wanting a foot massage but poor communication I got a leg rub , manicure the other girl cut them shorter then I wanted. I called ahead for an appointment and was still rushed through my appointment, so another Solon I won't be back to. I thought if I tip well they will treat me good ‍ my mistake. I walked in and i was immediately greeted and attended to. The woman did a fine job on my pedicure (other places include scrub this one does not for standard). When it was time for my manicure I was rushed over to the manicure station having to walk barefoot on the dirty floor. The manicure was fine (no soaking of nails). She asked for money before finishing up and then an issue arose with the money I gave them and it ended up being a disaster. I spent 45 minutes going over how much I paid verses what they thought I owed- regardless it was a waste of time, I felt like a thief, the woman kept insisting I never gave her money I thought I did- regardless no one could be proven right or wrong - but what I didn't care for was her disregard for letting my nails dry properly before hounding me for money she thought she was owed- it was really rude even when I told her when I'm done drying I'd work it all out. She was more concerned about her money than her service. I won't be going back here again based on customer service issues- sad because I was willing to give a new place a shot. My friend and me were going to a wedding and decided to get our nails done, we randomly picked healthy nails and it was a pretty good experience. We got manicures and pedicures that were really nice. There was some confusion when my other friend hadn't reserved a spot, but the lady told her to sit down and let her do her nails, but overall the pedicure stayed for almost 4 months and the manicure about 1 or 2, which was nice. Kinda pricey for the quality of french manicure, but the deluxe Pedi was decent with a nice massage. I definitely wouldn't get French tip again. I do wish they offered gel nail polish, not just gel fake nails, because it took hours for my 5 coats of each color on the French tip mani to dry, which led to it getting messed up 1.5hrs later. :/ They are fast though and accommodated a couple walk-in's while we were there. read more

I went to ENails down the street for a while and although I thought the technicians were good, my daughters were not getting the best treatment over at ENails. One of my favorite places to get a pedicure in Portland! I called ahead to see if there were any available pedicure appointments and they were able to get me in the same day! I decided to go with the hot stone pedicure and Mai did a great job! She cut my nails perfect, gave a relaxing 18 minute massage (the description doesn't specify length) and did amazing job with painting. I also think they have some of the better-quality massage chairs compare to other nail salons. FYI... I have been coming here for about three years now, and I can't go anywhere else. Best manis and pedis around! Sometimes I request someone, sometimes I don't. Therefore I have seen many of the techs who work there, and I have never been disappointed. I used to go to salons and get gel manis and my nails would end up destroyed. But not here! My nails are still very healthy (not all thinned out) because they don't use a dremel to sand off the old polish. People are very nice, and the space is clean and comfy. I have been coming here for almost 15 years. I really liked this place. It was so consistent. And the people are kind. But I just got the worst manicure... it's wrecked. I didn't see how bad it was until I got home and looked with my glasses on! The service was great but they were busy and Henry painted my nails. He's very kind and diligent but I think he painted my nails so thickly it couldn't dry. They said 15 minutes was good and I waited 20. But apparently it wasn't enough. But besides that, there are all kinds of scrapes from when he was trying to get the paint off my fingers. Just don't do it. And no, I don't want gel because as tough as it is, it wrecks my nails. Regular polish works fine for my needs... it's not like people were walking around with shitty nail polish paint jobs before gel came along! Feeling sad. read more

Never Again After asking twice for my nails not to be cut down because I had been growing them out for months, the gal doing my nails proceeded to cut them down to nothing. I couldn't believe it. I stopped her, asked to please don't cut my nails anymore and she just kept going. She then started on to my left hand she "had to make them even." I asked for rounded nails, so what did she do? Cut the right, left and top of the nail! My left hand are these rounded points. It's going to take months for my nails to grow back out. I have never been so mad at a nail salon I was there with a friend, the only reason I didn't walk out. If they can't be bothered by what the customer wants, they should not be in business. This was the WORST experience I have had in a place probably ever. I have never felt so uncomfortable and in a place of relaxation. I was greeted by what looked like the owner, an older male got up from his chair and asked me what I wanted. I said I wasn't sure what kind of manicure. I've had shellac so many times but heard gel may be better for nails. He responded in the most condescending attitude that he can't explain, "it's a long story". I immediately felt like anything I asked would be thrown against me as he made me feel like a complete idiot. He continued to try to explain it to me, being so rude I felt like an idiot that I didn't already know since I walked into a nail shop. Is it too much to ask to be educated by my nail professionals????? I understood that shellac and gel are the same thing, different brands. I sat down and was given color swatches. I didn't see the color I wanted. I asked him ( he was back sitting in the chair and on his phone) if he had other colors since the swatch he gave me was one brand. It was my immediate previous understanding that since they offer both gel and shellac that they may have a separate swatch for the shellac (the one they gave me said gel OPI) The guy laughed and stood up. He said although he explained it to me over and over again that he can't help it that I still didn't understand!!!! I'm sorry, my mind was blown!!! Why is it okay to speak to a client like this?? Given I understood or not. That was absolutely not okay. How is anyone getting past sitting down!! Maybe this guy was gone??? I feel very sorry for the women working there. Oh my gosh!! Wowie! What a full out experience. I am really impressed with how relaxed and comfortable I felt here. There was a lot going on when I went to visit so I forgot to get my nail tech's name but it started with a T. They were pretty busy for the holidays but has a decent color selection for polishes. I was sat down immediately and after a while T came to do my pedicure. She helped me pick a base coat for my sparkles. The massage was so amazing I had to put my phone down because I was literally almost falling asleep. Hands down the best you can go for on a budget is the deluxe pedicure. The massage and parafin wax combo is just so luxurious. I was really happy with the shape of my nails too. Everything was wonderful and they even helped me when I accidentally smudged my polish. They were so accommodating. I'd happily walk on over into one of the best nail shops around! See ya next time. Update: had to take away a star because the last time I was here one of the girls cut a few of my cuticles really bad and it stung a lot from the bleeding when she did the alcohol. Sadly I have to leave my thoughts on a place I have been coming to for almost 15 years. My daughter and I made appointments 2 days in advance for pedicures with Henry the owner over the phone. When we arrived they promptly started our pedicures and about half way thru my daughters pedicure a women walked in insisting to get a pedicure/manicure right away. Henry the owner spoke with her and explained that she would have to wait for availability. The women then came over in the middle of my daughters pedicure which by the way she is only 13years old and rudely interrupted the women Ruby and asked when she could fit her in and that she only wanted Ruby. When she told her she would have to wait till she was done with my daughters service she stood next to my daughters chair till she got what she wanted. Finally someone came over and moved her to a nail station to wait. Then the lady who was doing my daughters service left her to put the women in a pedicure chair and soak her gel off. Rewarding BAD behavior and interrupting my daughters service is not ok and the rewarding that bad behavior to someone has zero thought of someone else. Sadness me the the owner would allow this to happen. I called to speak with Henry regarding this and he listened but choose to do nothing for my daughter. Sadly we will NOT be coming back to the establishment again. I asked him to make it right with my daughter and he didn't. read more

I cheated on my regular nail place. I don't feel guilty. After spending two weeks in the hospital I needed two things STAT! I needed to deep condition my hair and I needed shellac manicure. I got out of the hospital on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving so you would think EVERYTHING would be open right? Well, since my place was closed, and I had remembered a review that Anna B. had written about this place, I made my appointment right away. Even though I could still barely talk due to my recent illness, Dina who did my shellac manicure was a good communicator. I was also very pleased to discover that this salon offers 30 shades of shellac, way more options than my usual salon. I opted for black of course, to match our Oregon skies. Dina did a fantastic job; black is not the easiest color to work with. I will still be loyal to my usual salon for pedicures and waxing because they really are awesome. My sister and I found this nail salon via Yelp to get a mani/pedi for my wedding in Portland. The team here is quick and efficient. Some members are able to speak both English and Vietnamese. The space was clean. There were complimentary drinks available, which were hand delivered to our seats. They have quite the variety of OPI polish and shellac polish to choose from as well. I showed the gal the design I wanted for my manicure, and she executed it perfectly. Nearly one week later, the shellac manicure hasn't peeled or chipped at all and the regular pedicure is also holding up well. I would highly recommend making a reservation as many people were walking in with reservations during a weekday morning. Unlike most reviewers, I haven't tried a lot of nail places. I did my research up front and landed on Healthy Nails from the get-go, so I can't compare it to too many other salons. What I can tell you is that I get outstanding service each time I go from friendly, happy techs who know what they're doing. I did the OPI gel manicures for about a year and always got compliments. It was rare to get a chip in two weeks' time, and the salon was happy to repair if needed. Now I just do pedis and am always happy with the great cuticle work, trimming, and paint job. If staff turnover is any indication, this is a first-rate joint. There are a number of ladies who have been there for years, and are always friendly, professional, and efficient. Luann works with them so that they can get time off each year to travel home to Vietnam Nam. I love that you can book online, and I do recommend appointments. They are busy enough that you may not get in without one. If you make an appointment, you won't be kept waiting. Henry is always working to update the website. I like that it has pictures of all the techs so you know who you're getting. Every time I'm there, there is at least one male customer, so if you're trying to convince your man to deal with his snaggly toes, he'll be comfortable here. I even once saw a daddy/daughter pedi -- adorable! My one pet peeve is that sometimes when they're busy, you'll have one tech take off your old polish, another one will do the painting, and maybe a third will do the topcoat.
