I honestly have never left a bad review EVER because I hate that most people only review when they have negative experiences. But I was so mad after leaving this restaurant that I have to leave a review. A group of 6 of us went last night around 8:30. Disclaimer: all of us are black, and from what I can see there were no other black people there. Throw some gay people in the mix, and it was a prime example of stealth discrimination that still happens today. Since the moment we walked in there were several tables available that could have fit 6 people. Yet we waited about 40 minutes without being seated. The whole time we were waiting, they continued to seat people who came in after us. Every single person that came in after us was seated. We were very nice and patient at first. I've worked in restaurants before, I know the struggle. But that was ridiculous. I asked several times if we can sit in one of open tables. I even offered to move tables for them. Each time the hostess said she would ask the manager. And each time she ignored us, I did not see her ask a manager. She never gave us updates on how much longer it would take. No other workers checked on us. Actually, the servers made it seem like we were just in the way (which we were, but that's because we couldn't get a table and there is no waiting area). After waiting that long, and having our requests ignored, we all decided to go find somewhere else where we would be treated with respect. We ended up at Grimaldi's on Park Lane (which I highly suggest)! Like I said, I hate leaving negative reviews. Went here Sunday for my bff's Bday, there was about 12 of us..So our table spent at least $250, I looked at the buffet wasnt impressed to I ordered off them menu, an appetizer platter, it was so- so, hot sauce tasted like pace, thats how I judge a mexican place. Anyways I dont drink. My friends said the mimoas tasted like oj, they were having to water them down with water (sad) So i went to the bartender, he made her a special bellini, didnt pay for it, they all said it was awful/ So I went back asked for the strongest margarita he could make, when he gave me the bill $27, I almost passed out. Anyways it was her b day. So then she wanted the glass, so I put it my purse, mind you yes, that was stealing. So the manager came over, and said" can I have my glass back" first time we ever saw him ..Not happy b day, how was everything nothing.. He was a rude %$!!#&.. He then said we could buy it for $15. Our other friends are regulars there, were pretty mad, bought one of them paid for it, he then got his bill, one small margarita was $19.. Needless to say, NEVER going back.. Im pretty sure that drink and glass was nowhere worth $42.. My friend has no clue Matitos has a brunch. Their brunch an d Blue Mesas are SO MUCH BETTER!! Oh and P.S. We were there last night with the entire family. It was a celebratory dinner as our son is going off to college. We were promptly seated and our waiter promptly brought out chips and salsa. Chips were warm and crisp and salsa was good. Then he left and it took quite a while for him to return to take our drink order. Then it took a very long time for him to take our dinner order. We frequent this place a lot and it was NOT busy last night. There were 7 of us plus a toddler. Our waiter was not friendly or attentive. Our food, however, was delicious. The carne asada plate was tender and flavorful. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. We will return but this particular server needs to be retrained. It's a classic. I have been going here for years. Patio on Greenville is great and down town re-model at new location (Field and Elm) gives the place a nice boost. I get great offers from the email club too about one every 4 or 5 weeks. Mini Chimis are my favorite and the margaritas are done the right way, no fooling around. My wife has been going here for decades - me for years. We just experienced my fifth time there, with only one of those five times being what I would call good. Several of those visits were margarita powered. The pros from my last visit - chips pretty good, though my table sat without them for the last 30 minutes of the visit. We had queso, which was respectable. One of our group said the nachos were good. Sour cream sauce on our enchiladas was sufficient and tasty, as was portion size. The cons - where should I start. For a place that calls themselves "Enchilada's", I would expect a little more stellar example than what we got. My wife and I both got chicken fajitaladas, one other in the party got regular cheese enchiladas. To me, these poor things seemed like they were cooked earlier in the day and rewarmed. The cheese, what little there was of it, had hardened, with little to no melting. The bottom of the tortillas was somewhat gummy. The chicken was an afterthought - we both felt shorted. All this with beans and rice (both OK) for over $11. Sorry guys - there are much better and consistent places that are also more reasonably priced. The wife asked for tortillas with butter - we got tortillas. She couldn't get a hot sauce refill to save her life. Trouble getting chips and hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant - come on. Is it an interesting place to go - yes. The margaritas are fairly tasty, though the two of us have shared a pitcher several times with little to no buzz. I would like to have tried it back during it's better days. Nowadays, I personally think they could and should do better - especially for the price. read more

Have been coming to Enchilada's since moving to Dallas back in 1995. Love the stuffed jalepeno's. They are huge and stuffed full of shredded chicken, breaded and deep fried. They are served with a quac creama or queso. Their chimichangas are also quite delicious - choice of ground beef or fajita meat and your choice of sauce. Their salsa could be a little spicier for my taste but still goes well with their great corn tortilla chips. My favorite server is Javier - he's friendly, efficient and has a great pair of eyes. read more

I am an avid eater of Mexican food or Tex-Mex which is mainly what you get here in Texas and this is by far the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I have been there a number of times and got a dish once that was okay but other than that it's been a string of bad food. The fajitas are terrible with the meat being of poor quality and very over cooked and the chili con carne sauce on the enchiladas is terrible. The steak tacos were very mediocre, with some seasoning but not near enough to drown out the store bought and bland tasting corn tortillas. Now on to the worst part, the chips and hot sauce are the worst ever and I have had some bad ones. The chips taste store bought and I know are not made fresh the hot sauce is the same, I would rather have Pace Picante and I hate Pace, the queso is watered down and has no interesting or tasty aspect to it. The corn and flour tortillas are terrible and bland, also 'store bought' or not 'made fresh' as our server liked to put it. I have to wonder what keeps people coming back to this frequently busy place, alcohol? Happy hour and Karaoke I think is the best answer to that. There are a lot of small things, especially in Mexican food, that can make or break a place and aren't necessarily hard to attain or expensive. I am not just another disgruntled customer that's lashing out, if you think I only come on here to give bad reviews take a look at my profile. I do have one positive thing to say about Enchilada's, the service is usually pretty good, I had one very bad experience but on my most recent visit the service was good along with the hostesses that weren't busy keeping your drinks and chips filled up. From a customer stand point that's great and it also helps the servers out a lot. None the less, this is one Mexican restaurant I will never be eating at again, I think I gave them more than enough chances to be sure it wasn't just bad luck. read more

The server decided my 20% tip wasn't enough for her and added an additional $21 to it. My bill was $17. The store manager was indifferent about it and said, "So do you want $21 credit towards another meal or something?" I was really excited to try out this place since I was craving enchiladas and the restaurant's name is "Enchiladas", so I thought this place was going to be LEGIT! Well, it was one of the biggest disappointments EVER. The enchiladas tasted like one of those frozen meals and they just popped it in the microwave and dumped it on my plate. My boyfriend got the carne asada and it was very bland and probably the cheapest grade of meat they can buy. Needless to say, we both took two bites of our food and left the rest. It was so bad we didn't even finish our margaritas (that never happens). Although, I must say our server was great and margs were pretty good. To make matters worse, the manager was very offended when we told him we didn't care for the food (we weren't going to complain, but he came by and asked and we weren't going to lie). I have only been to the Greenville Avenue location, but have been there frequently over the last couple of years and the food has been consistently great, the service excellent, and the atmosphere and experience enjoyable. I am usually accompanied by one or both of my high school/college kids, and this restaurant has become a family favorite.
