Reading the review that was posted after my 7/11 review, I have to agree -- Salvador has a client for life! He is so personable, helpful and he has everything I need. Needed size H vacuum bags. Super nice, family owned business. This is where you go to get expert advice and support for all your vacuum and sewing needs. Even if you didn't buy your vacuum at their store, they are happy to help you. Personally, I think it's worth buying your equipment there instead of the usual big box store because A. They offer a much wider selection of vacuums that you may not even be aware of (We tend to only think of Hoover and Dyson and there are many more choices!) B. They offer a free maintenance plan with many of the vacuums (you can bring them in for a free tune up each year) C. They are local experts and can figure out problems pretty quickly. No need to send it off to a central repair center. D. Competitive prices! I was surprised that they would match advertised prices, even with the NEX and MCX! I had purchased my vacuum from the owner's brother's shop in San Marcos and the owner was happy to help me unclog my vacuum at no charge while I waited. Fantastic customer service! read more

I was very disappointed with their poor customer service, I asked for vacuum bags they wanted $26 dollars for 8 bags I said WOW this is way more than what I normally pay for, Which I normally pay about $17 to 20 dollars. At the other location in Escondido . The guy said to me, well I have to pay rent here. First of all it is very on professional to tell the clients that they are going to charge more because they have rent to pay. And they Argue with me about prices.. the worst experience I've ever had. Dyson referred me to this store to fix/replace the battery on my machine. I called once to check on the status of my vacuum and was told that they were still waiting for a part. I went back today to pick up my vacuum, not repaired, with no battery replacement and was told that they threw it out. And claimed that they called MULTIPLE TIMES TO TELL ME THEY WERE GOING TO DO SO. I HAD ONE PHONE CALL WITH THE WOMAN THERE....A CALL I MADE. No calls were received by them, no messages left. I WOULD 100% NOT RECOMMEND using this store, if for no other reason, the owner/manager lies. read more

We just brought in our vacuum because it was not working. They repaired it for $268 and we took it home. When we got home it blew a fuse and didn't work. We brought it back and the woman said we broke it. She refused to refund our money for the non-repair, not would she give us what we paid in credit to purchase a new vacuum. I was installing a central vacuum system and realized I needed some advice and some hard to find parts (esp since Lowe's and Home Depot don't carry anything like central vac supplies). Walked in and walked out with everything I needed to complete the install and surprise - it worked! The owner told me to call him if I had any difficulties. I had the most incredible experience here. I had a broken part and Anea, whom I assume owns the business, took care of that but she didn't stop there. She took a look at my entire machine and replaced a filter that was way over due and in general cleaned up my old vacuum cleaner. Extremely knowledgeable and caring. This post is way overdue but I felt needed to be done because being in customer service myself, I know from experience that consumers way less likely to make the whole world aware when they've received less than stellar service than if they're happy about it. I dropped my beloved vacuum off when the roller brush stopped spinning in so l spite of my checking to make sure there wasn't a gob of tangled hair or something else that was stuck. I was informed up front that my Shark vacuum was known for experiencing electrical problems that could be from more than a minor part needing to be replaced. I checked back with them a couple days later and was told that they were experiencing a busy spell and hadn't been able to investigate the problem but they would take a look in a day or 2. I was starting to feel anxious because having 5 cats, being without a vacuum is not a great situation. A couple more days after that, I stopped in to check any progress that might have been made and to ask if they might have a loaner that I might be able use in the meantime instead, I was handed my much-loved and hard-working vacuum that had been repaired and cleaned so thoroughly that it looked brand-new I would give 5 stars except for the wait and not really given an estimated timeframe or status of completion but they still did an excellent job and thankfully it wasn't an expensive fix. Salvador took good care of my Electrolux vacuum that had broken. What I appreciated most is that he called me twice to let me know the part was late due to supply chain issues. It was great not to have to track down the status myself! After the initial fix (I only brought the part that was visibly broken), the vacuum still didn't work. So I brought in the whole thing and he fixed it. When hubby went to get it, Salvador said "no charge" ~ that part was covered under warranty. He'd given me the price for that second fix, and could have collected if he weren't so honest. read more

They had my vacuum for over three weeks. Never called me for a quote and ordered the part anyway. I kept calling and finally after 3-4 weeks I kept checking to see if the part came in. Finally I called AGAIN and he said it needs an entirely different part. No call, no uodates. Too frustrated to deal with them any longer, I picked up my vacuum and will take to someone else. Don't bother wasting your time. The store is filled with vacuums that need work, have been forgotten or never picked up. What a mess! read more

My MIL's Dyson vacuum was in desperate need of some TLC. Over the years, her caregivers did not clean it properly so the build-up on the device was horrific. Even worse, every time someone would turn it on, it smelled of burning rubber. The belts seemed intact but it quickly became obvious we needed the professionals to troubleshoot the problem. I called Dyson and they gave me the number to Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum and a few other dealers who were approved to work on the machines. This store had great reviews so we ended up choosing this location. We took it in on Wednesday and were told someone would call us same day with the list of repairs but no one called until Friday Morning, the day they said it would be ready. I wasn't feeling well during the week so I was unable to follow up but was very pleased they did reach out to me to confirm the cost of repairs before they were actually completed. They gave me a run down of the issues and I was happy to find out that they were still able to have the work done by the end day. If you check in on Yelp, they give you a Vacuum Service Special maintenance price of $14.95 which was about a $20 savings. In the end, we had to replace the motor and a few other items which came up to about $150. Pricey but beats purchasing another $400+ vacuum. The two gentlemen that I worked with were both very pleasant and helpful. We appreciated all their help and expedited service. I would definitely use their services again since we own 2 Dyson's of our own and they're probably due for a service soon. read more

Warning. Some of these good reviews are for the Vista location. If you're going to Encinitas, beware. Our Dyson is under warranty. Dyson told us to take it to this Encinitas location based on our zip code. We dropped it off on a Friday, and were told it would cost $40 for service, under warranty, and that they would call us on Monday to let us know how long it would take. First, however, they tried to sell us a $2000 vacuum that was on sale for $1000. Two weeks passed without any word. I called, and they said after 2 weeks, they hadn't had time to look at our machine, and we were the next on the list...they'd call us on Monday. We waited another week and a half without any word from the shop. I then went on YELP to find all the buried bad reviews here, which scared me. After 4 weeks total, we picked up the machine. The angry guy told us he didn't have time to get to the machine, and it's not his fault Dyson couldn't get him the necessary parts. (How would he know what parts he needed if he hadn't yet even looked at our machine?). We called Dyson and told them what happened. They said the shop wasn't allowed to charge us $40 for a machine under warranty, and they'd be looking into that issue, because it was a clear violation of their policy. They also informed us there is no delay getting parts out to the repair shops, even with covid. They referred us to a La Jolla vacuum repair shop that is a bit farther from our zip code, but has much better reviews. Will let you all know how that works out. read more

I have been there twice now, and both times the service has been great. Salvador is very helpful and polite. Even walked my vacuum out to my car for me when he was done. I have taken my Oreck vacuum there to be serviced once and repaired another time. The prices are reasonable as well. Besides servicing and selling vacuums, he also has different supplies for vacuums, and cleaning supplies for floors and carpets. I will be back. read more

I'm very sad to give a bad review as I love to support local small business however Salvador makes me feel like I'm in the wrong every time I walk in there.... yes every time because we brought our Dyson with a problem last year, paid for the repair, then brought it back a couple weeks later and paid for the repair once again to have it brake again. So I dropped it off and would every other week or so stop by and he would tell me the part hadn't arrived. We ended up buying a new Dyson and have lost the ticket but according to the owner NO TICKET means NO VACUUM CLEANER back?! I've been so patient and understanding the hard situation of finding our machine without a ticket but there has to be another way?! This repair shop supposedly fixed our FloorMate floor cleaner. When they fixed it, however, they cracked the water tank on the other side. I brought it as the first time we used it after the repair, there was a clear leak in the water tank that was not there before. I explained what had happened and the person working there (who may be the owner) was quite rude and defensive. He said there is no way he broke it during the repair but it is clear that it was not there before. We spent $50 repairing this machine and now it is useless. Had the guy been decent, I would have gladly had him look at the new problem and possibly pay him to fix it if it was not going to be too much more money to invest in this machine. But given his attitude and rudeness, I would not give him any more business whatsoever. Don't trust this place. read more

My dogs hate the vacuum and out of spite, probably chewed the vacuum cord so they didn't need to deal with it anymore. Long story short, I had to get the power cord replaced. After calling a few places, Encinitas Sewing seemed to be the most affordable for the repair. I came in to get the cord replaced and the work was done super quick (about an hour). Unprofessional & Unethical I enjoy supporting supporting local mom & pop shops when I can which is why it's saddens me to give Sewing & Vacuum a poor rating but my recent experience (May 1, 2018) reveals that not all mom & pop shops are created equal -- some need to question why they are in the business of customer service at all. Anna the store owner did not listen to my concern and repeated herself in what she was not going to do (refund for $58) over and over again; she was rude, obstinate, unprofessional and ultimately chose an unethical option. We all have options in where we shop and choose to spend our time and money. My encouragement to you is this -- beware of Sewing & Vacuum, not what I expected or what I was hoping for. If I could have given Anna and Sewing & Vaccum ZERO stars I would have -- the ONE star does not reflect how poorly the situation played out. read more

I recently went to Encinitas Vacuum to purchase some parts for a vacuum. Upon entering the store there are no signs about mask or social distancing. The lady working had no mask on and finally put it on when I got to the counter. She couldn't find the part I wanted and told me they didn't have it. I could see the part I was looking for,and when I tried to point it out she became agitated and called the guy in the back to come out. He also had no mask and didn't put one on when he came into the area. He agreed with me and gave the part to the lady. Trying now to pay for the part they lady threw a pen on the counter towards me to sign the receipt. I asked if there was a way to pay without touching something she had touched without a glove. This further angered her and she refused to sell me the parts. I told her I meant no disrespect, we're in a pandemic and I'm just trying to be safe. She was very rude and very unprofessional. I would like to think that this happened not because I'm Black? I've lived in Encinitas for over 30 years, this is the first time I've felt like a business maybe treating me different due to my race. read more

I was hoping to find an authorized Dyson dealer in San Diego. Unfortunately, Dyson does not have one in southern CA. My experience with Encinitas Sewing and Vacuum was certainly NOT anything more than satisfactory. I felt that Ana tried to sell me a new vacuum versus directly and sincerely addressing my need for general maintenance on my Dyson, which has served me well. They charged me $20.00 MORE than their normal fee which I agreed to, after I discussed in detail my requests. The bottom of my machine was overlooked and I made a specific request for it to be addressed. I can only hope that the work promised on the interior cleaning of the motor was actually done but I will not ever know. I found the attempt to continue to try to sell me something different to be unprofessional. I cannot speak highly of my experience with this business. read more

I brought my daughters basic sewing machine in and the said it was fixed. My daughter didn't use it right away but when she did the timing was again not right. I called to see if they would look at it again and right the wrong and of course they wanted to charge me. I will never go there again and everything there is over priced. Hope this helps. read more

Just had my mom's 55 year old Singer portable sewing machine repaired and cleaned at Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum. My wife dropped her sewing machine off on a Monday. The problem was the machine was stuck in reverse but other than that, it was fine. The counter person said he would call on Wednesday with an estimate. On Friday, my wife called the store and was told he would call her back on Monday. A week later, she called again and he said he would call back in a week. A week later, she went in and was told, "the machine is broken" and he had to order a part. There was no follow up and we decided to pick up the machine as the part was never ordered and the machine is now "broken". Steer clear of this place! read more

Originally I just wanted to bring in my Dyson here for the $14.95 yelp cleaning special but ended up walking out spending $100. There was nothing wrong with my vacuum it worked great just thought it could use a cleaning. Michael I believe was his name was the of the young man helping me. He really warrants the 3 stars alone. He was kind, informative, and such a sweetheart. Anyway he told me my vacuum would be cleaned by that afternoon and he would call me when it was finished. No one called me so I rang them up. Some older man with a Mexican accent answered. He went on and on and said I needed this fixed and this replaced. I told him my vacuum worked fine. Just not what you want to hear when all you wanted was a cleaning! I ended up just getting the repairs done but I can't help but feel like I got ripped off. I think in the end I should have just ordered the parts online and followed the easy videos on YouTube and fixed it myself. Lesson learned. read more
