We hired encore concrete to sand our floors and put on a clear coat for our commercial space. On the day the work was being done they called and said that they were going to charge us an 15% to fill in the crevices between the concrete slabs. We sent them pictures of the bare concrete floors after we removed the carpets, they knew what they were working with. I think it's bad business policy to spring and extra charge on us the day the work is being done. They also told us they would not refund our 50% deposit if we did not want to continue the work because of the extra cost. We agreed to pay. I've posted pictures of the before and after. I could have done a better job myself. There is discoloration everywhere. Very unhappy with the quality of their work. Would not recommend for many reasons. read more

Their warranty is a sham. I had my floor done in November of 2022 and for the most part, it was fine and looked nice. It wasn't perfect, but I wasn't expecting it to be so I was happy with it. It was a cold November and was close to freezing the day they came. They assured me it didn't matter, but in hindsight, I expect it does matter. Fast forward to mid-year of 2024, about 1.5 years after installation, I notice cracking and peeling in one area of the garage floor. Entire area was less than a single sq. foot. Okay, fine, they have a lifetime warranty, right? Kind of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I call them and talk to someone who explains I need to submit a warranty claim online. Okay fine, not sure why I can't just talk to someone but fine, I can understand a paper trail as much as the next guy being useful, so I go ahead and submit it that way[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm contacted by a woman named Arianna via email who is fine for the most part. She acknowledges the issues and we scheduled them to come out[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I did have questions about the repair looking different than the original application and she said it'd probably be different but they do the best they can. But they'd also happily charge me $3/sq ft for a "refresher" coating. Makes you question the actual longevity of the product if that's a service they offer with something that has a lifetime warranty. So at this point, they come out in September of 2024 for the repair, 22 months after the original work was done. From the time they pulled into my driveway and were gone, the repair lasted 48 minutes. It was a visually obvious repair, doesn't look great, but at least it's sealed, and we're done and good. Except, we're not. THREE months later, I get a text message saying they had an accounting system glitch and I should have been charged $250 in labor for the repair. This is a surprise on multiple levels. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I exchanged emails with (2) people at Encore, Arianna and Andrew, and at no point did either of them tell me there would be a labor charge. At no point did they ask for my authorization to attempt to charge this[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They just expect people to pay this exorbitant fee, without actually telling a customer about it, after the fact. Look, I get it, go look at the warranty page on their website and you're brought to an image you can't search text on. In fine print, they say labor is only covered within the 1st year. They are purposefully not telling the customer, knowing they are going to charge $250 for a job that took them 48 mins and was a few $ in material. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Salesman never mentions this, they just tell you about the lifetime warranty and how good everything is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The warranty is an absolute sham. That $250 they try and charge you absolutely has the material baked into it. They have no actual warranty. Do your own research and find other reviews like mine here, on Yelp, on Google. All saying the same thing. If you are lucky and have no issues, the system works, but the warranty is a joke. read more

They came to do the garage floor and were supposed to do the small "shelf" around the garage sides. Crew were unaware and contact person indicated that was not in the contact. I can't get these people to come out but yet I'm supposed to have a lifetime warranty. This is a joke. They're indentations that are not covered completely and are showing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All they want to do is have you go through your insurance company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The way I look at it is there is no warranty because they won't come out and look and the only way you get a response from them is to pull the money back and are you in credit card arbitration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If they don't get the money the first time is I'll take it out of second time if they don't get it a second time they'll get it to third time. You have to literally change your credit card and go through the whole hassle. Very unfortunate review. I will add ; issues brought up in this review have been discussed with Encore and I gave them opportunity to remedy before the review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They didnt even give me the courtesy of a response.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I booked the job in June (for Sept !!!) and Sept. comes and they have to reschedule, they could not make it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When they finally came out, 2 guys did the 2 car garage from 9am-5pm. Looked decent at the time. (still does for the most part, but reading recent reviews I question whether it will hold up, or if the warranty is worth anything). [[HIGHLIGHT]]During the 3 month wait, I called and wanted to add 4 steps in garage to avoid winter slipping. I talked to the sales guy, he said he would send me an updated invoice. NEVER did, even though I reached out multiple times.(Horrible follow up once the job was booked)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The day of the job, I was told, repeatedly, that the FINAL/ALL bill was to be paid at completion of job. I physically watched them call the office twice to make sure the total on his invoice is what was to be paid. (I thought maybe it was a discount for taking 3 months or having to reschedule) They got off the phone with the office, and said this is the total owed at the end of the job. I requested they call a little later, they did and were told the same amount. That is what I paid when they got done (by check). About a week or so goes by......I get an invoice from Encore for "extra grinding" and the steps I requested months back and an updated invoice. NEVER got an invoice, asked MULTIPLE times at the job to make sure this was the price, etc. SO.......go ahead a few days. Encore actually put through a charge to my bank account for a charge of $407.81 AFTER I paid the "FINAL" bill per their employee at the job site who repeatedly called the office. I am just blown away that they would just put through a charge since they had my routing and account info from my check. Super shady........fraudulent. I called the bank......they agreed. It is an unauthorized charge. That is NOT have a person, let alone a company does business. EXTREMELY shady..........If they do this, what else do they do that no one is aware of? Lot of turn around for installers, don't want to pay for quality installers, so product suffers. VERY important to ask about warranty, it says lifetime, but ask and read the fine print, they don't cover anything, or will try to upcharge for something else. Dominic sales person came to my home, very friendly and on time. I Specifically asked for expansion joints to be leveled and it was included in the estimate. Employees did show up on time and were also freindly and respectful, but they didn't follow their work orders and did not include coverage of the 2 expansion joints in my 3 car garage. I pointed it out to them and we're given new instructions by their management to cover the expansion joints. Unfortunately it looks like they may have skipped a few steps as now the material had leveled off and sank in the expansion joint, so now there is a dip all the way across my garage floor that makes it harder to clean properly. I waited 5 days to park my vehicles in the garage to make sure everything has dried and settled. Finding clumps and pits along with a droopy expansion joint improperly filled, I called and left a message with salesman and management. Their response after several days of trying to get a response was to file a warranty complaint with manufacturer. This was a job that was just completed, I would expect a representative would contact me to look at the job itself and correct the work that wasn't properly done. Encore Concrete Coatings installed a polyaspartic / polyurea garage floor in October of 2023. Their salesman made statements and promises the company did not follow through on and/or keep. Without my permission, they took payment out of my checking account before the job was completed. They also left visible marks because they brushed the top coating around the perimeter of the concrete joints and waited too long before they used their roller to cover the rest. They said the marks would go away over time. I asked to be more specific, and they did not answer. It has been almost 8 months, and the marks are still there. I hired Encore in June 2022 to do my dog daycare kennel at the cost of $11,952 plus the loss of revenue due to having to close down my business for 8 days. Two weeks after the floors were done we noticed cracking and staining. I had to close down for 3 days in August for Encore to come out and "fix" the floors. Once again at the cost of loss of revenue. After many phone calls, e-mails and photos sent to Encore they sent out their "senior operations manager" to come out. He agreed to have the floors re done but due to our being a business I told him that our next slow time for us to close down was in January. When I called in mid November to set up a time in January, I found out that the operations manager was no longer with the business. Tony Scarletta the owner of Encore insisted that we voided the warranty and that my only options were to have them come out again at our expense, hire someone else to do our floors, or to just live with it. That its a "dog kennel" I chose this type of flooring because of its durability and easy clean up - something that we are continually doing. I reported Mr. Scarletta to the BBB and the states attorney's office. He refused to back down no matter what. Over the summer we started planning to have our garage floor completed, we waiting until the winter and could not have been happier with Homer our salesperson who came out to give us our estimate and stayed with us until we completed the Job in January. I will be the first to admit our garage floor was in poor shape after trying to do it myself with epoxy. I am thrilled with how it turned out. my only regret was not doing it over the summer before the rate increase. already referred a family member and a neighbor. I scheduled an appointment online and within two days their rep Brian came out to my home for an estimate. He was friendly and helpful as we talked through some of the pitting and water issues in my garage. After careful consideration, moisture readings, and a call to his manager he gave me the unfortunate news that my concrete slab is far too high with moisture (old home old slab) and that it wouldn't be in my best interest even with a moisture barrier, as it isn't going to be able to prevent that much moisture from pushing up on the coating and breaking the bond from underneath. In addition, with it being as saturated as it is, when they would start grinding the water would just keep bubbling up to the surface. What a refreshingly honest estimate. He could have easily prepared the quote and I would have easily signed to start the work. He suggested I call a waterproofing service to try and fix the issue and gave me a few recommendations on who to call. I'm highly recommending this company (and Brian as the rep) because I'm confident you'll receive an honest service. When I get the water issues fixed, I will absolutely be calling Encore again. read more

I would not recommend this company. I had my garage floor done and have had to file "warranty claims" twice in less than a year and a half. The first time was due to improper application of their product. My whole reason of getting the floor done was because of flaking of the existing concrete which had caused low spots on my floor. They claimed they would level the floor prior to applying their product. Well they never did and they just applied the coating over the low spots. when I called them out to look at it, the technician knew what I was talking about as he noticed it from half way up the driveway. They did redo half of my garage to make that right. Now a little over a year later the product has failed and is chipping away in many spots of the floor. So after contacting them again to get it fixed they want to now charge me for the labor to repair the flooring. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bottom line is the product is not as good as advertised and their customer service is even worse as the person I spoke with was snotty and condescending.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are a bunch of other companies that do this work. Charlie was prompt, honest, and professional! The appointment was easy to set up as well. He informed about the lead times, process, and expectations. I was leery about the installation date from reviews however I did not experience any of the delays! David and Pedro were extremely nice, knowledgeable and set expectations on the process and timing! In November 2020, we contracted with Encore to coat our garage floor & concrete front porch. The crew showed up after dark on a very cold evening, but went through the necessary steps with very poor lighting. In May of 2021 we contacted them because there was a spot in the garage that very obviously did NOT get the final finish coat as it was very dull compared to the rest of the floor. After numerous attempts to contact them & them promising to come out to take a look, it NEVER happened! I think their tactic is to wear customers down, so they finally give up, which is what we did. We spent $3,000 to have Encore coat our garage floor. At first it looked great, however, after about 6 months we noticed the floor was chipping and coming up in multiple spots. We called, they came out and offered no affordable solution. They advised that we probably needed a vapor barrier put down first, however, a vapor barrier was never offered by the sales rep. If it had been, we would've had it installed. We learned that the sales rep we dealt with was no longer with Encore. To have all these holes/chips fixed, Encore would have to completely re-do the floor at our expense. This was unacceptable. We still have holes and chips occurring in our garage floor and it looks terrible. Not a good experience and I would not recommend them at all. read more

Buyers beware of epoxy coating garage floors especially in snowy areas! Contracted Encore to epoxy our garage floor. Although we were satisfied with the floor, we were disappointed that no warning was given as to how slippery the floor is when wet. I guess we assumed that Encore would be acutely aware of this and for safety would have educated us as this danger and perhaps suggested some additives that could increase traction. Unfortunately, we were not forewarned. When we brought this to their attention we were told a standard amount of grit is added and if we wanted more we needed to ask. That's on us for not educating ourselves. It's on them for not doing their due diligence and making potential customers aware of the hazard of purchasing their product. read more

I'm giving Encore garage a mixed review. After dealing extensively with the company on a major project, I can say that the product is nice. Looking at the job done, it is pleasing. The attitude and sales process is NOT pleasant. Tony S, the owner, is happy to answer all your questions and be the friendliest guy...until you sign the contract. Then he is nowhere to be found. And he makes it clear- he "sells" the job and then he is done. You are left to deal with his staff on installation, clean up, etc. And if you should, by chance, need an adjustment or tweak here or there, need something moved, or if the flaking gets on your garage paint and you have to fix it-- Tony will let you know that EVERYTHING costs extra. And he will throw the contract in your face. I would give this a lower rating except the product is nice, and his installers do a good job. But he doesn't know how to manage people, and he, apparently as a CPA (and it takes one to know one), is nickel and diming the job. So if you get referred to this company because you are wowed by the final result, remember that in any job there are two parts- the product and the reliance of the company behind the product. I've used Tony and Encore Garage 2 times in the past 3 years. 3 years ago they installed an epoxy floor in my 2-car garage floor at my home. Last week (March 2016) they installed a 1600 sq foot floor on my commercial building. Both times we used the color Smoke. I posted 2 pictures of both projects in the album. Both times the pricing was fair compared to other quotes we received. The installation was over 2 days and both times the installer was quality and I was impressed with the follow up. His response to customers is alarming. Do I need to be concerned as I'm genuinely interested in getting our garage floors done? I was very concerned with his response to K.R. The Owner needs to understand that it is his job to educate customers about the process along with the pros and cons. Instead, he went on a full fledged attack against this guy who I thought wrote a reasonable review. I'm concerned....please talk me off the ledge on this vendor. Do not use EncoreGarage - they are a dishonorable company.  There are many other companies that perform the same service as they do and do so in an honorable manner - give your business to those companies.  I had EncoreGarage perform its epoxy floor coating on my garage.  Per Encore's policy, I paid them 100% of what was owed when they finished the floor coating process.  I did not know, nor could I know, at the time I paid them that they had mixed the formula incorrectly and my garage floor would never dry.  They initially told us that after 24 hours of the coating we should be able to walk on the floor without it feeling "sticky."  So, per their instruction, we tested the floor after 24 hours.  However, the floor was still soaking wet.  I immediately called the company to inquire about this and to tell them that it didn't seem right.  Instead of sending someone out to look at it immediately they instead told me to open my garage door to let it air out.  The problem with this of course is that I live in the City of Chicago and leaving my garage door open for hours at a time would almost certainly have resulted in theft.  I did not take them up on this advice.  Instead, I waited another day or so and tried again.  It was still soaking wet.  By this point it was the weekend, and it just so happened to be labor day weekend so the company was not open again until Tuesday (6 days after they completed the coating process).  When I called them Tuesday morning to explain that my garage was still soaking wet they initially tried to put me off longer but I told them that someone must come to my house that day to determine what the issue was.  Later that morning a representative of the company came to my home, acknowledged that the floor was still wet, and that they had mixed the formula incorrectly.  When I asked him how this issue would be resolved he explained that they would have to grind the garage floor down (back to the way it was before the floor coating process) and they would then have to apply the coating all over again.  If the process had been done correctly the first time I would have had the use of my garage within 72 hours (which would have been before the labor day weekend).  Given the mishap, all in, I ended up not having the use of my garage for 10 days.  I live on an extremely busy street in the city of chicago and parking is not plentiful.  I have 3 small children that I have to constantly drive around and each time I left my parking spot I had to find another one.  Often, I ended up having to pay for parking near my house.  I also received a parking ticket during this period of time.  Aside from the total hassle and inconvenience associated with not having parking for my cars for 10 days, I also experienced damage to my home as a result of my husband testing the garage floor only to have it continue to be soaking wet.  Each time it pierced through his shoes and on the first occasion before we realized that the floor was not drying he ended up tracking the liquid that they coat the garage with into our house which was very difficult to clean up.  When the representative of Encore came to my house I explained all of this to him - that I was out time, money, and that there had been damage to my home.  I told him I wanted to speak with someone from Encore with authority to discuss some sort of discount for my troubles.  He responded to me that he was that person.  He proceeded to ask me what discount I wanted.  When I responded he told me he would discuss it with others at the company and let me know.  When I did not hear back from him within a few days I called the company directly.  The woman who answers the phones immediately knew who I was and why I was calling.  She told me that she knew I was entitled to a discount and that the owner of the company planned to call me directly to discuss the amount of the discount.  I waited for a few more days and still no one called me.  I called again.  The same woman answered, she seemed embarrassed, and told me that the owner was going to call me and I told her that I felt ignored, that I was getting a run around and that I did not appreciate that I was promised a discount and that no one had reached out to me for days.  She said I would hear something.  Still, I heard nothing.  I tried calling back but they obviously have caller ID and did not take my calls.  I realized they were screening my calls so I left them a detailed voicemail stating all of the facts, that I was promised a discount, and that I felt I was receiving terrible customer service.  Ultimately, one of the managers wrote me back an email in response to my voicemail.  The email was very antagonistic.  He told me that the representative of the company who promised me a discount (despite telling me he was authorized to do so) was in fact not authorized to do so.  He told me that Encore refused to give me a discount.  He offered no apologies for any of the inconvenience including but not limit read more

BEWARE! Didn't get the chance to experience their work. I was provided a quote that was excessively higher than others I had received. Subsequently I received a coupon in the mail for $450. This would have made them competitive. When I reached out to the sales person he advised that a discount was baked into his proposal. The coupon didn't mention that the discount was in lieu of any other discounts. There was nothing in the agreement that mentioned you couldn't use an additional coupon. I communicated that I thought this was a bit misleading. To my surprise the representative sent me a mocking email. Not very professional. Glad I found this out before I signed. Don't know about you but I hate when companies overcharge and then provided a "discount" that still makes them higher than anyone else. So, moral of the story is, check your options. read more

I had read the reviews here before I went with Encore, and I'm happy to report that I didn't not experience the same issues others had once a contract was signed. We hired them for garage cabinets, shelves and slat walls. The installation went smoothly and the product is all beautiful! However, the shelves began to slump over the next several months. When I contacted Jason, he did a great job addressing the issue - they ended up going with a totally different product, replacing the old shelves completely. I did my homework on the numerous options available for coating our garage floors. To say that I was impressed from beginning to end by Encore is an understatement. Kyle (1) came out to our house and provided an estimate on price as well as his professional opinion on the options that were available to us. He was incredibly professional and stood out loudly from the other estimates we had been provided by alternative North Shore companies. In fact, having already received estimates from others, I legitimately chose Encore because of Kyle (1). His price was extremely competitive and he came across an all around good guy that I could trust now with the floor being put in, and later should any issues present themselves. Leading up to the day of the installation, I received a call from Kyle (2) - same name, different guy - letting me know that he'd be at my house within an hour. Kyle (2) actually called all 4 days that he was headed to my house. We had 2 separate garages done. Kyle (2) was meticulous and did a beautiful job on our floors, and identical to Kyle (1) he was simply an all around good guy. We've received a number of compliments since the installation, and I'll be recommending these guys to everyone I know. Undoubtedly as I found when I started my search, there are a number of options out there for you to consider for your garage floor needs. Wow, what a great company and products. I had quite a bit of work done in my garage and it was all completed perfectly. Working with Tony and his team was a great experience. They were extremely accommodating, very flexible and understanding. I was very undecisive in the beginning on what i should do and they were very helpful and patient with me throughout the whole process. My garage looks fantastic. We believe customer service is the most important aspect for a business and the customer service at Encore Garage is awful. No matter how good a product is doesn't really matter at the end of the day if they don't have good customer service. We signed a contract with them to epoxy the garage floor in our new townhome. We put a 50% deposit down and scheduled the service. Our builder had delays so we hadn't closed but the builder agreed to let them do the work. The builder was emptying out the garage and Encore showed up over an hour earlier than scheduled so the garage still had stuff in it. They said it would need to be re-scheduled. We knew there was something in the contract about a return charge so my husband asked Lynn if there would be a charge and she told him no. The reason we would want to know was so we could get a credit from the builder at closing. We have since closed and the day before the rescheduled service we got a call from Lynn with instructions as well as the balance due which was $350 more. We asked why and she said it was a fee for re-scheduling. We brought it to her attention that she told my husband on the phone that there would be no additional charges and she said yes, she told us that but didn't realize it was in our contract. Not clear on why she wouldn't know that and tell us something completely different. Are there different contracts for different people?? We told her we would like to cancel and were told we would lose our deposit. Again, it's in the contract so read very carefully before signing anything. We then asked to talk to someone above Lynn and the woman my husband talked to was actually yelling at him. He couldn't get a word in. Who is the customer here!?!? Definitely will never recommend this company due to this bad experience. All they needed to do was tell us about the re-scheduling fee when we asked and this could have all been avoided. We would have gotten the builder to pay the fee at closing and that would have been the end it. I am a property manager of a large portfolio of industrial buildings and hire contractors all the time. This is the worst customer service I've ever had. I had planned on using them for some of my buildings but will definitely not be doing that now and all our neighbors who have expressed an interest in getting this done will be made aware as well. read more

PREMIUM PRICE- SUBSTANDARD EXPERIENCE! I inquired about garage flooring, drywall painting, and cabinetry. It started out all rose petals and rainbows with TJ. All responses to emails were promptly returned. Then I got a 'deal' that was offered. If I hurry and pay the deposit, they would discount the project, but I needed to 'book now'. I was informed that as soon as I paid the deposit, they would set up a date for the painters to come out. I decided to take advantage of their 'deal' and paid the deposit they asked, which was 50% of the project. It was the drywall, painting, and flooring for the garage. I didn't hear from them after that. I finally reached them almost 2 weeks later. From my point of view, they took my money and had no intention of doing the project. I was able to book the project and was told on a Friday that the painters would start the following Thursday. Then I got a call from the painter saying they were starting on Monday. I informed them that we were told something different. TJ told me paint would be done in 2 days with multiple people working on it. In the meantime we had to hustle to get the garage emptied for them. It turns out it was 1 person, and 5 days later to finish the painting. Before the painter was finished, we got a call one morning that the people laying down the flooring were on their way. I asked them if they had even been talking to the painter, because he was nowhere near done and questioned if they could even do the flooring at the same time. Turns out they had no idea that the painter wasn't finished. We ended up having to communicate between the two and coordinate because Encore didn't. Once the painter finished, the owner demanded payment in full. We told him no, we already paid 50% in the deposit and had been told we had 30 days to pay the balance (documented in email). He still insisted that he be paid directly in full. There was NO way were going to pay him the full amount, because then Encore would have been paid in full for a project that they did not complete (the flooring had not started yet). We also still had fresh in our mind that after they got the deposit, we did not hear from them until several messages later. In the meantime, the flooring install had finished and they also demanded payment in full. We again told them we had 30 days to pay. They did not honor the 30 days to pay the balance. Instead, I got repeated phone calls from TJ asking for payment because if we didn't do it right away, the painter would not get paid. I felt it was not my issue, since I did what was asked from the beginning- pay 50% as a deposit. If they wanted me to pay the painter directly, then they should not have asked for the money up front. They also should not have told me I had 30 days to pay the balance due. This was their error and they wanted me to correct it. In addition to all that mess, our flooring did not have a 'finished' look. For such a premium price, I expected a more finished look. The end of the garage had epoxy drippings all along the edge, the stem walls were not cleaned up in spots, and they only epoxied part of the stairway. After this experience, I definitely regret the decision to do business with Encore. The only positive that came out of it was the person that did the painting did a nice job, which was contracted out and not an employee of Encore. read more

In September of 2011, I had Encore Garage apply an epoxy floor in my 3 car garage. Black and gray fleck with UV resistant top coat. The overall process, sales thru install was easy and painless. I received 3 other bids for comparison and while Encore was not the least expensive I thought they offered the best value for the money. Fast forward to late August 2012. I noticed that the area closest to the door was beginning to yellow. The yellowing was not uniform across the floor so I eliminated in my mind that the sun was causing the problem. I contacted Encore to see if this was something they could look at and fix. At their request, I took some photos for evaluation and emailed them to Paul. A couple of days later Paul was at my home personally inspecting the floor. Paul confirmed that the floor should not be yellowing because of the polyaspartic UV resistent top coat applied. I expected Paul to offer to fix the damaged area at no cost. He offered to not only fix the affected area but he said they will redo the entire 3 car garage, no charge. Paul wanted to do this two days later but I had to push the appointment back. The following week the two man crew came in and refinished the entire floor. The end result looks great! I wasn't happy about the floor yellowing and was a little nervous about the type of customer service and support I would receive. The response was quick, professional and even though the inital floor had an issue, Encore Garage stood behind their product 110%. Thank you for great customer support! read more
