I found a great piano off Craigslist that I wanted to buy, but I had no idea how to move it. I found Encore Piano Moving, and they were fantastic. I was a little concerned at first because it seemed to be a small business run out of someone's house. All my fears were allayed. They were very professional, arranging pick up time and location very smoothly. They arrived at the pick up location before I did. They were very careful and secured the piano well in the truck with lots of padding and ties, and they moved it into our house so carefully and smoothly. They took extra caution to ensure that the piano did not get jostled and that it did not damage the entryway, etc. They placed it in the spot I wanted and made sure I was happy before asking for a signature and leaving. They also advised us not to have it tuned until one month later after the piano settles to the indoor environment. It turns out that all they do is pianos, so they really know how to handle it to ensure there is no damage. I called Encore on Monday and left a voicemail with my details. I received a callback with a very competitive quote within a few hours. After waiting to hear from another piano moving company (who ultimately never called back), I went ahead and called Encore back on Tuesday. They scheduled my move for the very next day (Wednesday morning). The two guys showed up on time, were professional and courteous, and moved the piano in place in a grand total of about 15 minutes. Artistic Pianos hired Encore Piano Movers directly after we purchased a piano from them on a Saturday. On Monday, the Encore office called us to set up a day and time for delivery, and they were very flexible with our somewhat-difficult schedule. They also agreed to move our old piano to a new home, and did that at a fair price. These guys are the best! Customer service is top notch from the first phone call to the final delivery. The woman who I spoke to on the phone was polite and helpful. She followed up with reminder calls regarding the delivery time frame and the movers arrived on schedule. Jeff arrived at my house with the piano, moved it in and even replaced a piece on the piano that was missing. Encore Piano moving was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE and left me in a terrible situation. I have never written a poor review for a company before, but this experience was so bad I felt I had to do something about it so that others would not have to go through the same experience. Jeff and his partner showed up at my house on time. However, Jeff was upset and cranky and complaining for at least 20 minutes before he even began. He said that we had stairs and had misrepresented the situation and he wasn't sure he even wanted to move the piano. I asked him about the ramp and he just grumbled. I said so do you want to take it up the stairs and he said no, they would use the ramp. I had told DeAnne (who by the way was very good and professional on the phone) that I thought I had a 6 1/2 ft grand piano. She asked me to measure it and I came up with 6 ft. She asked if I had any stairs. I had told her that we had a stair out of the front door and a ramp that was not extremely level horizontally. I told her that they may choose to use the stairs and told her that there were 6 stairs leading out of the courtyard. She had asked if the stairs were necessary. I had told her no. The piano movers we had before had used the ramp. Understand that we have moved a lot in the last 2 years. We have relocated to a different state. So, I have literally watched my piano be moved 4 times in the last 2 years. Jeff said that I had not told them that my piano was a 6 1/2 ft and so (AGAIN HE SAID) he didn't know if he even wanted to do the job. He said that we had not told him that there were stairs. I had explained the situation thoroughly to DeAnne. He should have known. We had 3 guys here to help them in any way that he needed. He said that I should have given DeAnne the model number and that would have told her that it was a 6 1/2 ft grand. If that is the case, why didn't she just ask for the model number? Jeff had brought in several blankets and I assumed that he was going to wrap the piano like all the others had. Instead he turned the piano on the side like normal and strapped it down without any blankets to protect it. I was concerned and asked him if he was going to wrap the piano in blankets and he said NO. This gave me great anxiety and I said told him that all the others times I had had my piano moved they had wrapped it in blankets. (Not only that, but wouldn't you think that the straps themselves could possibly scratch up your piano?) He said that they wouldn't be able to grip the piano if they did that. What ever happened to wrapping it in blankets and then cellophane so that you can grip it AND PROTECT it? I didn't say that, I just told him that I had concerns and that fine print on a movers agreement does not usually cover a $40,000 piano 100%. He got really pissed at this and said that his company had insurance to cover any problems. He suddenly lifted the piano back upright and started putting on the legs again. I said, "What are you doing?" and he wouldn't answer me. I asked him 5 TIMES and he completely ignored me until he was finished and said he was leaving. I said, "Are you serious? I have to be out of here by tomorrow and you are leaving me in a very difficult situation." He said I didn't trust him to move the piano, that his company had a million dollar insurance policy and that the truck was padded. I said that would have been nice to know and then he said that I hadn't given him anyway to tell me that, that I had just cut him off. I had several children and people there that would gladly testify that this wasn't the case and that he was a real, total JERK! I asked for his name and he reluctantly gave it to me. I asked for his companies phone number and he gave me a disconnected phone number. My son asked for the phone number to see if I had dialed it wrong. He too got a disconnected phone number. He rattled off 2 other phone numbers, too quickly to get and walked out the door. Luckily we were able to get Extreme Movers to come the next day. They were so personable and did an excellent job. I tried to call Encore Piano this morning before I wrote this review to give them a chance to explain, feel remorse for Jeff and his horrible attitude and unprofessionalism, but no one answered. I believe that anyone who has an expensive piece of furniture or instrument should be allowed to ask questions and it should be the movers job to explain and address you concerns calmly and professionally. Jeff was anything but professional or pleasant. I would NEVER CALL ENCORE PIANO TO MOVE MY PIANO AGAIN. read more

Had these guys move a piano for us today from Mira Mesa to Poway. These guys were very professional and moved the piano with ease. They seem to have a trick or tool for every obstetrical they encountered during our moved. I wouldn't call anyone else to move a piano for me. read more

Wonderful company - Jeff was very helpful. Aside from safe delivery, he also gave us tips for cleaning and maintaining our new piano. They arrived on time, and were extremely thorough with care during the move (using good blankets and piano safe equipment). I sold my piano on Craigslist and called three piano movers for estimates. Encore was the only piano mover I found who actually answered the phone without having to leave a message and hope and wait for a return phone call.
