I had to change the headcount twice, confirmed the reservation multiple times because of the size of the group, and they even moved us into the beer hall to accommodate everyone. Communication leading up to the event was excellent. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before our reservation, I received a call that the kitchen had been shut down due to an emergency plumbing issue. I completely understand that emergencies happen and don't fault the restaurant for something outside of their control. We were offered the option to delay our reservation by 30-45 minutes while they waited for an update, but there was no guarantee the kitchen would reopen. After discussing it with the group, we had to scramble to find another location. I appreciate that someone called rather than having us show up and receive the news, but with a party of this size, I wish there had been more proactive communication, the GM thought she had called me but totally understood when dealing with an emergency. The reservation process itself was outstanding and talking with Jessica about options at their other location was great. Hopefully we can try the Factory if we are ever back in town.

Overall the taste was pretty bland had to get extra sauce to put on it just so I could eat it. Someone else got the chicken caprese and there was one basil leaf on the entire sandwich! Chicken was dry and had no flavor. Chips were way too salty and inedible. Really disappointed, the quality continues to go down while the prices go up. At some point the "our operating costs are going up" spin will only get you so far while the overall taste and quality of the food continues to decline.

The menu is a little more extensive than donuts, as they also have hoagies and shareables and of course coffee/ juices. For whatever reason, somebody decided to put donuts with beer... Yeah I don't know... But, if the mood strikes you they have a very fine selection that they rotate from time to time of draft beer. It's a pour your own kind of a thing and they also sell growlers. I felt confused, abandoned, and denied. I saw a celebratory summer filled with all the craft beer and cider my little heart desired (sometimes in slow-mo), and all within walking distance too. Instead it included a one-hour round trip bus ride - with a transfer and not including the return-trip wait time - or a one-hour round trip walk to the other Beer Depot, or tolerating, with a stiff upper lip, the beer selection at our local Price Chopper; and this lasted through early December. We'd been making regular trips to Lane's next door since the fire (Great place by the way! Their staff is professional, in the know about where things are in the store, and happy to point out a good deal whether you ask or not), So it goes without saying we were hopeful when we started seeing signs of reconstruction in the West Side Beer Depot's empty space. When we learned that they'd officially re-opened, I felt like someone had lifted me in the air and twirled me around. It's not an emporium, but the selection is varied enough to never bore you (like Ithaca Coffee Company's), and I'm not just talking about the different breweries and cideries you'll see on the shelves. This is the type of place that'll stock a wider range of products for a given company; so instead of having the choice of two or three products for X brewery/cidery, you'll see, like, four or five products from certain companies. They bring in seasonal and limited edition products too. And they're willing to make space on their shelves for new products like this in-state black current cider we stumbled upon last week. Last but not least, they small talk about their products in a genuine way as if they've tried them, which I appreciate. And they have mainstream beer and premade stuff in a can and all that...but most of them are stocked away from the real deal in another part of the store...where they belong. Appropriate. (They need a separate cash register over there. J/K!) So if you like learning about craft beer and cider, this is definitely an option.
