Dr. On and Dr. Bowers are incredible. They are both highly knowledgable and do excellent work! I recently saw Dr. On for a tooth that had already been treated, but had never healed because it wasn't treated properly. The first opinion I got (elsewhere) said that the tooth would have to be extracted: retreatment would be difficult without further damaging the tooth as it would require a large amount of finesse to do it properly. But Dr. On suggested that he could carefully try retreating, and would quit early if he thought he would end up damaging the tooth. He even said he would charge me a very very minimal amount if he ended up quitting early without completing the retreatment. After two hours of patiently operating, he managed to do it! It took at least 30 minutes longer than planned, and despite that, he didn't rush AND I was charged the same amount as a regular retreatment. He saved my tooth! He is the most patient endodontist/dentist I have visited, he's incredibly skilled without being overly confident AND he's truly honest! I suspect the only reason this place doesn't have five stars is because of old reviews from when a different group of endodontists used to run this place. So when my dentist told me about a month ago I needed a root canal" I was like" Say What"?! I thought he really said( or perhaps imagined) that I was good to go now, and time for me to visit Venice and its canals"??! What was that?? No?!!! "Joey, you need a root canal"!! As I got into my car I thought, what the heck just drive by and check out Dr. Javidan's office! Nestled off El Camino in Southern Palo Alto, very close and convenient for Mt View and Los Altos patients, I entered this modern office. The staff was warm and friendly and accommodating, and Melissa was more than happy to help me with my nervous energy and questions. During this month, after numerous calls to speak with Melissa and direction, my visit/treatment had arrived...today ta-dah !! This is the day of the much-dreaded ROOT CANAL! I was not sure what to expect other than their gracious and kind staff including the doctor. Today was the day!!. I can tell you, they make it as pain-free as possible. The only thing I did not care for was the clamped mouth..cause I could not speak..or if I did, it sounded like jibberish!! I am sure some friends and family would love to this on my mouth when they utter..you talk way tooooo much!! Lol- Hence my reviews! :) All I can say is you need a friendly much-needed pain free root canal procedure..Dr. Javidan is the one you need to see.:) They even have net flicks to watch, today I watched Mayberry RFD, many too choose from. So - I've had a root canal, a successful one (until it proved to be failing on X-ray) for probably 16 or so years, possibly longer - it was done in Kyiv, Ukraine. So far, any dental professional I've seen has expressed concern for the tooth because while it was upholding, it was clear that it would be somewhat an endeavor should I ever need treatment on it. Calmly, at our first appointment, Dr Javidan identified the material and didn't seem in the very least worried. The procedure was split into two sessions and thank goodness - due to the sheer amount of of numbing I needed, I couldn't really hang in for much longer. As for Dr Javidan - I have zero complaints, she's confident, competent and she put me at ease with her 'let's get this done' attitude. She saved my tooth - no implant yet, so huge thank you! Also - her assistants for both procedures were fantastic - caring and understanding of my request (I have a thing with suction device) and both times my request was heeded. read more

This is a great endodontics office and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. My initial visit was with Dr. Javidan who is very friendly and very patient/thorough in her explanations. Due to an abscess requiring antibiotics and time, I came back for my second visit (and root canal surgery) with Dr. Shadmehr, an associate at Dr. Javidan's office. Dr. Shadmehr (Ellie), is great! She was so nice and extremely skilled. After a thorough review of the situation and her expectations regarding my tooth, she performed the surgery smoothly and completely with what felt like minimal time in the chair. You can tell she's experienced and accomplished by how well she performed the procedure. Additionally, the office has some of the latest technology for root canals, such as a disinfectant cycling station for the tooth being worked on. The office, staff and equipment is very impressive and everyone there was professional, courteous and experienced. It goes without saying, that this office must have a good reputation and plenty of referrals as the waiting room was also very busy. This woman is literally a quack. If I could give negative stars, I would. Here in 2021, I am still dealing with the pain and repercussions of ONE session with her back in late 2019. I went to her because I needed a root canal that was hard to reach for other dentists due to my TMJ. One point I will note here is that if she didn't have the experience dealing with TMJ patients, she should not have taken me in. Instead, she assured me that she would be able to do the appointment easily in two sessions and I should be totally fine after. I wish I never went to this woman. Within less than 20 minutes of me being in the chair, she had drilled into my tooth and kept exclaiming "oh man, I don't know how to do this, I don't know how to do this" -- which obviously freaks out a patient right?? She totally hit my nerve in all the wrong ways and stretched out my jaw so far that the TMJ/nerve pain incurred has never gone away in all this time. She really screwed up my jaw and my pain level (I will note that I never had actual pain on opening before, I just had to dislocate and re-locate to open and after just that one session, I've had non-stop pain). After screaming in the chair, she stopped and immediately turned rude. She told me that she couldn't help me and just had me leave. IMPORTANT NOTE: She drilled into my tooth and didn't even close it back up! She literally left me with an open, broken tooth and said "Good luck". The following day due to the extreme nerve and TMJ pain caused by her, I went back to her office to ask her to take a look (I was desperate and in pain). Once again, she was extremely rude (and so was her staff). She denied that any of my pain was caused by her and literally made me cry fat tears in front of her while she remained a stone. She gave me ibuprofen and vicodin with a sour face and then I left. Like, this woman caused all this pain and had no sympathy? If you're in this industry, you should have manners. If I had never gone to this woman, I don't think I would be in the immense pain I am in today. After seeing her, I was so strung up on my jaw pain that I went to a surgeon to fix my tmj and that led me to even worse pain than before. If I had never gone to her, I think I would have been happy today. Instead, she robbed me of so much and was rude about it the whole time. If you have TMJ, don't go to her. Oh shoot I thoughtI already wrote my review. Javidans' team is amazing. I had previous root canals done that I had to have re-done. So one of them was re-done by Gordon Block which was a total dirtbag. But he retired last year so he didn't care. So the first tooth that I had done by Dr. Javidan was in January. I was welcomed with a smile. The whole team was very welcoming and friendly. Dr. Javidan let me know what she was doing and why. My tooth was finally not hurting after it was done. My second tooth (the one Gordon Block did last year) had been hurting/aching/terrible pain. So I had the approval to get it looked at. As Dr. Javidan was drilling it she noticed it didn't seem to look right. It was black.... it was rotted..... This was the SAME tooth that was done last year and apparently Block didn't do his job properly because my original crown had leaked and it doesn't rot like that in 4 months. So he didn't do his job properly. So anyways, Javidan needed to remove the old crown since it went bad. My tooth, omg ..... it was nasty. I asked if we needed to pull it and she said no we can save it. She was always kind and letting me know what is what. So she completed the next tooth. Since then, now my mouth is pain free. I told my dentist I will only go to her if I need a root canal and definitely recommend her and her team to anyone who needs a root canal! read more

I was overwhelmed by the diagnosis but she took time to explain everything to me and even encouraged me to get a second opinion from a periodontist so that I could have all the information I needed to make the best decision. I visited Dr. Javidan after suffering from pain that came and went for months without a diagnosis. When I arrived at her clinic the first time, it was immediately clear that Dr. Javidan works with state of the art tools and techniques. After a few images and a meeting, in which Dr. Javidan patiently explained to me what procedure would need to be done, I made an appointment for the following week. Before this date however, after a sleepless night of intense pain, I called the clinic to see if anything could be done to help me sooner. Dr. Javidan's manners are excellent and so are her staff's. I'd give five stars to this and to her insight. She could be very competent, but unfortunately, she was not with me. I always believe in seeking a second opinion, which I didn't apply then. Dr. Javidan rushes in her work! I rushed in agreeing and allowing her to redo my root canal. Though, she was trying her best to resolve my tooth issue! Yet, the end result cost me a lot! At the final filling treatment, though she saw a crack in my tooth, she rushed in filling the tooth with permanent cement! She should have not filled the tooth... Dr. Javidan and her associates are great. Very professional and courteous. I had my root canal done and the whole procedure lasted about 3 1/2 hrs. Dr. was very meticulous to make sure she covered all the spots by taking multiple x-rays. Usually you keep your mouth open for this long it is pretty painful but Dr. Javidan used a device to clamp onto the neighboring teeth which made it comfortable. Of course there was discomfort after but no as much as my older root canal treatments elsewhere. I would highly recommend Dr. Javidan. read more

I can't speak highly enough of Dr.Javidan. I called her out of the blue on a Saturday afternoon with searing tooth pain. Unfortunately, I also recently lost dental insurance (turned 26), and have minimal savings. She worked with me to locate financial aid via a local dental society, performed a careful and skilled root canal, gave me detailed instructions as to pain management, and even personally walked with me to set up my follow up crown appointment at a nearby office. Her office also has lots of nice touches, like a tv monitor mounted on the ceiling to help distract from the procedure. I am a student and my general dentist is in Florida. After a visit to my general dentist during a quick trip home, I learned that my problematic tooth needed a root canal. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Javidan. She told me that I didn't need a root canal. With relief, I accepted her advice. But my tooth continued to hurt. A few months later, I schedule an appointment with another endodontist in Palo Alto. My x-rays revealed that I did need a root canal and that by waiting a few months it actually was in bad shape. This is one of those "I don't usually leave a review" type of reviews. I am extremely satisfied with her work and professionalism. When my dentist told me to go see Dr. Javidan for a root canal therapy after simply taking a look at an x-ray, I was a bit surprised because my molar (tooth #2) didn't have any sensitivity/pain issues. I knew the cavity was there, but I didn't know it was that bad. Dr. Javidan understood my concern on how a root canal therapy might not be necessary when the x-ray shows some distance between the cavity and the pulp. The molar also showed normal responses to ice compared to other teeth. We had a good amount of discussion on what approaches can be taken, which included root canal, direct pulp capping, indirect pulp capping, and another option aligning well with her past research topic. I could feel that she is not only experienced but also well knowledgable in the recent studies of endodontics. After knowing my options and their pros/cons/limitations, I couldn't feel more comfortable when the treatment started. Unfortunately, after she opened up the tooth, she observed that the nerves showed too much inflammation already, and a root canal had to be done. But that was fine, because I clearly understood that was the only viable option. I sincerely thank Dr. Javidan (and her team) for answering all my questions and making me feel well informed on treatment decision making. Top to bottom this place gets an A++! I get extreme anxiety when going into the dentist because of my history of bad teeth. Recently, I had to have another root canal (roughly 6 total in my life). Dr. Javidan and her staff provided the best experience I've ever had for the circumstances. I noticed someone posted that Dr. Javidan rushes the patients through and hurries on her work, well I couldn't have had more of the opposite experience. She took extra time to explain the diagnosis, treatment plan (pre & post) and offered options for a better experience. The actual procedure did not take very long, but she was meticulous from start to finish. I am terrified of needles and barely felt anything at all. She has a magical touch with that darn thing. Dr. Javidan is a real person and is extremely caring and kind. I wish she could be my primary doctor moving forward, but unfortunately that isn't possible. She has authentic Midwest roots which shows in how she handles patients. Javidan might not be the cheapest price on the block, but If you want HIGH quality work and a great experience this is the place to go! Not to mention the staff is responsive and understanding. I actually had a pleasant root canal with Dr. Javidan, and that's nearly impossible. She's very well informed and experienced, which is exactly what I needed in order to manage this chronically painful tooth. I was amazed at how efficient and painless the entire procedure was, given that my last root canal with a different endodontist was long and arduous. I am grateful she was able to fit me in as an emergency. Just hours after the procedure I am totally pain free and after two years, I couldn't be happier. Dr Javidan is a true professional. No complaints AT ALL about service. The ONLY reason she get 2 stars is due to her billing front office rep. My only complaint is how her front office billing rep. handled my account. I signed the financial agreement-no dispute regarding the obligation. Unfortunately I went on disability and communicated this to her billing rep Melissa and I kept her informed of my situation, we agreed she would reach out to me prior to running payment to the card on file due to the fact I still had some HSA money that would become available to pay this expense. Unfortunately this did not happen when I called -very upset- Melissa said I was quote "getting HYPHY". Dr Javidan representative did hold on to her end of the agreement which resulted in a mess of a situation that had Dr. Javidan getting involved to take a payment and refund the correct card. Dr. Javidan is an excellent endodontist. She is a professional, well experienced, and cares about her patients. I had to do retreatment of a root canal that my general dentist caused an infection and left a metal piece in my tooth, and she was still able to retreat the tooth with blockage. I was very impressed with her service. She can look at the tooth with her microscope with her hands elsewhere. She also did a root canal for another tooth, and she did it really quickly and efficiently. I did not even have any pain rest of the day. I've just extracted my tooth which Dr. Javidan did a root canal on. I already had a root canal in this tooth when I went to Javidan Endodontics - I'd had it over 10 years - but I'd occasionally feel mild pain in the tooth that would radiate to my chest. It wasn't very frequent, once a month maybe. Dr. Javidan re-did the root canal. But my tooth became painful a few months after, then started to hurt constantly. I had moved away from Palo Alto at this point. I consulted a dentist who gave me a couple of options including extraction. I called Javidan's office to request her input. I'm in my 20s and really didn't want to lose a tooth. The lady on the phone immediately went on the defensive and blamed me for the bad tooth. She was very rude and dismissive. But she said she'd try to have Dr. Javidan call me. I heard back several days later saying Dr. Javidan was too busy to call, but they were sure to remind me that it must have been my fault. So frustrating that I waited for their call only to be disappointed a second time. I just wanted to hear from the last dentist I'd met with before taking a decision. I have had root canals in the past and none have gone as smoothly and painlessly as the one just performed by Dr. Javidan. She is very gentle and did everything in her power to make me comfortable and relaxed. I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure and, most amazingly, afterward. It was a back molar and I had barely any noticeable soreness in my jaw and surrounding area in the following days. The experience was more like a simple filling than a root canal! In addition to Dr. Javidan being very straightforward, honest and skillful, her staff is equally welcoming, congenial and professional -- unlike another experience I had elsewhere. Dr J described what she thought was going on, based on what my dentist and their own X-rays told her. After numbing me up, and making sure of it, she and staff were thorough in evaluating and treating my dear little tooth #19. It's been several days and it's doing fine. i really dont like dramatic doctors and this one being one was a disappointing experience. I expect doctors to give me all the information and let me make a call on what i want to do without being over dramatic. Dr. javidan makes everything sound like your life is going to come to and end, ofcourse i have a bad tooth why else would i come to an endodontic, but instead of fixing it , she kept complaining that i have a small mouth and that it was difficult for her and in the end she simply broke my tooth. I have very mixed feelings about Dr. Javidan and her office. I came in to have a root canal retreatment on a tooth that's been an ongoing issue for about a decade now. My insurance does not work at Javidan Endodontics, but I was going out on a limb and trusting my dentist when he recommended her. I paid almost 2k out of pocket to have the procedure done, and I honestly thought she did a great job and she was nice. I thought my tooth was finally fixed for good, assuming the retreatment was successful. About two months later my filling fell out, so I called right away and the receptionist, Vicky, answered. She looked up my info and said that only a temporary filling had been put in. Now, this was complete news to me. She then said that I was supposed to make an appointment with my regular dentist to get a permanent filling put in. I was shocked, because not a single time was it mentioned to me that they put a temporary filling in. The receptionist told me it was stated in my paperwork they sent home with me. Well after reading through the paperwork about 20 times, NOWHERE did it say anything about a temporary filling. Now I was upset and had to hold back tears because I had spent almost 2 grand that could all be for nothing if bacteria was getting back into the tooth. All because I didn't know the filling was a temp. They were willing to see me the next day to check on the tooth for signs of leakage and whatnot, as there is no point getting a permanent filling put on a tooth full of bacteria. I was going into the office ready to apologize for being upset on the phone. And by upset I mean I was crying and nervous for my tooth. Let me just say that at no point had I cursed or verbally attacked Vicky. As soon as I walked in they put me in a room and closed the door, presumably so I wouldn't make a scene or something. Dr. Javidan came in shortly and immediately became defensive before I could even say a word. She was upset with me before she even heard my point of view. She said they told me "many times" about the filling being temporary and basically that they never mess up. I tried to say that I honestly didn't know, and she told me I had not been listening. And there I was, a grown woman, being pathetically reduced to tears yet again because I can't stand up for myself, and she continued to scold me like a child for "not listening." Let me just say that I listen very well to details, especially when I'm going to shell out that amount of money. And I can 100% guarantee they did not tell me about the temporary filling "many times," if any. Next, she ordered me to lean back so she could check out my tooth. On the plus side, it appeared that only part of my filling came out so there was a good chance it was still protected enough. They didn't charge me for the visit and told me I was set to go. I think they really wanted to get me out of there, as they had precious customers in their fancy lobby and I still had tears running down my face. Whether it was miscommunication or misunderstanding, I honestly believed I had a permanant filling put in. I had no idea I was supposed to see my regular dentist for the permanant. If I had known, I would've had it done as soon as possible. IN CONCLUSION: I do believe Dr. Javidan does good work, and seems very thorough and experienced. However her attitude along with Vicky's when confronted about a possible mistake was beyond unprofessional and rude. Everyone makes mistakes, but they would not even consider the idea that they could've possibly forgotten to tell someone a simple piece of information. It happens. All I wanted was to make sure my tooth was okay, and in the process I was insulted and humiliated. This comment is not about the quality of work by Dr. Javidan, but on the act of balance billing used by her practice. A couple of weeks after receiving treatment at this place I received a mail saying that the insurance didn't pay what they wanted them to pay, and that I should pay the remaining balance (a practice called balance billing). This is an ugly practice and against their contract with my Dental insurance provider (Delta Dental). For the benefit of doubt, I'm giving them two stars, and they did say they'll fix it after contacting them. This review purpose is to serve as warning to other patients to check and make sure they are billed correctly and fairly. read more

A dentist appointment absolutely worth raving about. I needed a root canal and was referred here by my general dentist's office. Dr. Javidan is calm, professional, smart, patient, conscientious, and highly qualified. She took the time to tell me about the procedure and make me aware of my options. The process turned out to be pretty painless. She and her staff really went above and beyond to provide remarkable service as well. Dr. Javidan remarked about a particularly good x-ray of my wisdom tooth that they had taken ("They rarely look that great," she said.) She then had the x-ray printed for me and emailed to my oral surgeon. When my appointment hit the two hour mark (the fault of my silly, curvy roots), Dr. Javidan had her assistant move my car to prevent ticketing. No one wants a root canal. But, here you are. Her office staff were friendly and helpful on the phone and were able to see me surprisingly quickly. She was great. Dr Javidan has great chair-side manner, explained the options, procedure, and what she was doing well. She was very calming. And she did a great job. It was painless and relaxed and undermines the very foundation of the phrase, "I'd rather have root canal..." This is my third root canal over a lifetime. After walking away from another endodontics (Bay Area endodontics) office previous day, was able to reach out to Dr Javidan in Palo Alto. Day and night in patient treatment, comforting in pain, providing detailed explanation by showing X-ray of root canal teeth whether extraction or root canal is suitable choice. I would definitely recommend Dr Javidan without any hesitation. Her office is across Dr Scott Pyon's office (general dentist) on Cambridge ave, and both are great doctors with focus on patient first not money. read more

The best professional ever!!! I'm so thankful that I found this clinic. Dr. Javidan and staff are really amazing. She is such a great professional and a wonderful person to talk too. I had two teeth that needed a root canal done. One was pretty obvious because of discoloration and no response to cold, but the other one I realized it really needed after seeing the results of the first one. Dr. Javidan was very patient in explaining to me the situation of both teeth but left to me the decision to really have the second teeth have the root canal done. I really appreciate the fact that she was not a pushy doctor and was there to really help me. Thank you much one again!!! read more
