The food here is ok. Nothing amazing but we used to order here somewhat regularly and were satisfied. However, lately they seem to be going downhill. The Italian food is dry and bland. They are super skimpy on sauce so the spaghetti is tasteless and boring. My eggplant Parmesan today had very little cheese, was over cooked and the cheese was hard and burnt. The spaghetti had very little sauce on it so my whole meal pretty much sucked. I've asked for extra sauce and cheese numerous times so you'd think they'd figure that out but whatever. Their delivery times are TERRIBLE too. It used to be about an hour, maybe hour and 15 minutes but they just get slower and slower. I ordered at 12:45pm today for "lunch." I was given a time of 55 minutes from the app. The food didn't arrive until 2:30pm. 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES we had to wait for our lunch. If I ever order from here again, I'll make sure to order at breakfast time if I want to get it in time for lunch. With other places in the area that are much faster and more efficient, it's hard to justify ordering from here again. read more

I would drive from Conn College to Norwich about once a week just for the Sa-WEET pizza from Engine 6! Toppings kick ass, sauce kicks ass, crust kicks ass, everything about their pizza ROCKS! I've seen the sandwiches they make, and I'm pretty sure if they're anything like the pizza, they're awesome too! I just wish they were closer to New London, the gas to get there and back is almost as expensive as the pizza (but so worth it). I stumbled upon this pizza joint during my recent excursion to Norwich. I wasn't sure what to expect when parking in front of the small repurposed fire station, but I'm glad I walked in! This place definitely has character and they are true to their name. With the exposed red brick and firefighter paraphernalia, you can feel the history of the building which the owners preserved. It's a very casual restaurant that serves mostly take-out orders, but if you appreciate the history be sure to read some of the many plaques and badges hanging on their walls! I had no idea what I wanted to order, but luckily the staff is extremely friendly and helpful if you ask for their suggestions. I ended up getting the chicken parmigiana sub which was excellent. You can order a small (6 inch) or large (12 inch), but the small was just right for lunch. Make sure you ask for the bread double toasted! Otherwise it gets soggy with the tomato sauce. Also, you can order with sautéed onions/peppers/mushrooms which definitely adds to the flavor and deliciousness. They serve it with an extra side of their award-winning marinara sauce, which you won't be able to get enough of. $6 later, I left feeling quite satisfied with my lunch pit stop. Next time I'm around, I'd like to try their pizza and see if it's as tasty as their hot subs! Also, it is BYOB. So you can bring drinks if you do decide to dine-in. I have always enjoyed the pizza at engine 6 however there are some things that could be improved. I recently ordered from them for delivery they stated it was going to take 40 minutes to an hour to get to me. I accepted the wait time and made my order driver stated they were super busy, no problem. The pizza was around $20.00 and change which is a fair price for a large pizza, if it was just a bit bigger it would make it worth that amount. What the other reviewers don't seem to mention is that this pizza is pan pizza. Yes, pan pizza. Why anybody other than Pizza Hut would cook a pizza on a round dish pan is beyond me. So needless to say I wasn't a fan. Even with pan pizza, I've had better. But having said all that, the employees were super nice and the interior was very homey, albeit somewhat small. Inside there are table and chairs set up for a few people, but not set up for an entire baseball team. So my stars are basically for my experience. If you're looking for five star pizza, Pepe's is always a hop skip and a jump away at Mohegan Sun, right down the road. read more

The pizza here is really good and totally customizable. I am not a fan of red sauce in general, and they have the option of no sauce, garlic, or a white sauce. My personal favorite is a Bacon Double Cheeseburger pizza with White Sauce and Black Olives. The taco pizza is pretty awesome, without the salsa for me. When we first moved to Norwich we loved to eat here. It was a bit pricey but the food was really good. I'm sad to say that I'm the 4 years the food has gone down hill so much. We ordered tonight, fettuccine Alfredo, mozzarella sticks and buffalo boneless wings. The Alfredo sauce was kinda congealed, portion was small. It didn't taste great, looked awful. The mozzarella sticks awful and cold. The marina sauce still had a whole bayleaf in it...you don't want to eat a bayleaf!!! It's a sad that this place has went so far downhill. It used to be worth every penny - now $30 later I feel really ripped off and have a stomach ache. Norwich is a small town, and I can't see how you can stay open with your quality going down like this. read more

I ordered over $100 worth of pizza to be delivered to our small medical office in Norwich. Was assured it would be delivered by 12:15 . Here it is 1 o'clock, and still not delivered. Person answering the phone at 12:35 said "It's on it's way". 1 o'clock and the SAME woman on the phone said, before I even had a chance to say hey, where's our pizza? "Their car broke down and I'm sending someone to get him now". Well, that's nice but our lunch hour is over now, and I'm sitting on $100 of pizza that no one will be able to enjoy because apparently, they don't have a phone there to call me back & say "we're gonna be late". I have been on a mission to find the best pizza in Norwich, CT. Given an unexpected snowy day, I decided to order delivery for our small office. Engine No. 6 was next on the list to try, especially since they delivered. We chose a small, white pizza (garlic, olive oil, herbs, ricotta, mozzarella & cheddar cheese) for $9.59 and a small, cheese with half pepperoni and half mushrooms for $8.97. The delivery fee was $3.00 and I paid 10% tip. Since Engine No. 6 has been around for years and years, I expected to get a good pizza. The result was much less than par. The size of the small pizzas were very small, and the toppings were scarce. Both were very dry and cold. Picture a small, white $9.59 pizza boasting "garlic, olive oil, herbs, ricotta, mozzarella & cheddar cheese"... (and I should have taken a picture); sounds tasty, right? Well it was super small with lackluster, dry toppings. The half-and-half pizza had little sauce, little pepperoni and barely any mushrooms; it was also dry and lackluster. Aside from the lack of product, I attribute the dryness and cold temperature to the ordering/delivery process. I ordered online via their website at 11:15am. I selected noon for a delivery time, and I received a message stating the requested time be at least one hour after the ordering time. Then I opted to choose the "Now" instead of selecting an actual time, and the result said that the processing time would be 45 minutes. OK then! Shortly after noon I called the store to check on status (the email confirmation offered me to call to check on status). I was told that the order was on the road and this was a busy time, i.e. be patient. Well, I thought that by ordering well before noon I would get some kind of priority. Finally, the pizzas were delivered at 12:40 - one hour and 25 minutes after ordering. I suspect that my pizzas were hanging around for at least an hour between cooking and delivery. Long delivery time + bad pizzas = not going to patronize Engine No. 6 again. read more

Had the bread sticks and the Engine 6 Special pizza, both gluten free (I have to eat wheat free due to allergies, not celiac). We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Both were nice and bready without being too much. My wife is a big bread fan and even she really liked it. Besides being GF, the pizza was top notch. The sauce was just right, not too sweet or savory and was just the right amount. The toppings were delicious. We finished with GF deserts which were awesome. They have a big selection of GF deserts. The staff were very nice and attentive without being annoying. The place is pretty intimate, only a few tables, in an old fire house, which was very cool. Overall it was a very nice dinner and is our new pizza place. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Wasn't a large order and they said it would be 45 mins to arrive, which is fine. Over an hour and ten minutes I had to give them a call as to where are food was. They said it was out for delivery. She was right and it arrived at an hour and 15 minutes. We get the food and the pizza was slightly warm. Not a fan of microwaving food that has just been delivered. The clam chowder had zero clam in it. It just had potatoes. If you know you are out of clam then say so. I paid for clam chowder not potato soup. Ordered from this place for the first time and let me say I WILL NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN. Ordered a JUMBO buffalo chicken pizza. Came 1.5 Hrs later, COLD and it is a LARGE pizza. I call and of course the BITCH of a woman who answers the phone as the MANAGER argues with me that the pizza is in fact a jumbo. Now I know pizza like anyone else who orders one. A large is a large is a large. Just because you call it a jumbo doesnt make it one. So as I tell her the pizza is cold and tastes like it came frozen and reheated she yells at me some more and screams that I am wrong and to never call there again. WELL NO SHIT SHERLOCK! We were staying at a hotel and decided to order food from this restaurant because it had such positive reviews. First off it took about an hour for our food to be delivered on a Saturday afternoon. I know it's a busy area so I was willing to forgive that. When the food was delivered, we were missing all of our salads. two of those were people's actual meals. When we called them up to let them know, they called the delivery guy and he insisted that he gave them to us. He finally said that he must have dropped them off at the wrong stop and we were told he would come back with our food. When all the food finally arrived, the quality made me wish they would have forgotten everything. The bread sticks were in a Styrofoam container and water poured out when I opened it. All of the salads were made with iceberg and tasted like they forgot to wash it. My friend ordered buffalo chicken fingers which were limp and tasteless. The only somewhat passable item was a pizza that my other friend ordered, but it wasn't enough to save this dud. Overall pretty terrible and I'm surprised by all the positive Yelp reviews. read more

Honestly don't know how this place has stayed in business for so long. I have ordered twice and both times were messed up for one reason or another. This last order is just that...the last!!! I ordered on line and when they arrived my bill was more than what it should have been. I ordered the jalapeño poppers and they are soggy and gross. I ordered a salad and I will give them credit for that, but come on how hard are salads. I called to see if there was a mistake and the guy informed me that the menu is wrong and they have been "working" on it for a year. Then he asked me "what I wanted to get out of this"???? I wasn't looking for anything really except to make sure there wasn't a mistake and some decent customer service. I ended up hanging up on the guy because he was so rude.
