I stopped in on around 9 on friday night for a beer and burger and thoroughly enjoyed both. Sat at bar, lots of friendly bartenders and hockey on TV. Super casual. Yeah there were hipsters everywhere but who cares. Lots of draft beers were kicked, but it was a busy friday night and I still found a good IPA. Their menu features a lot of super tricked out burgers, but I prefer a less fancy burger so that I can enjoy the beef itself. I went with one of their simplest options: the Demi-God which comes with sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, swiss, and horseradish mayo. Usually it also has cheddar, I opted for just 1 cheese variety. The burger was awesome! Perfectly cooked and super moist and rich from all the mushrooms and onions and cheese. I usually get my burgers dressed w/ LTO and had forgot when I ordered, but honestly those would have only distracted me from the good stuff. The burger had tons of flavors and juices going on so didn't need any sauces added, nor did I see many people adding ketchup. For a side I had the tomato and cucumber salad w/ Italian dressing. It was ugh... sufficient? Maybe my mom made an impressive tomato/cucumber salad (highly unlikely) or perhaps theirs is just less than stellar. Whatever. I feel like Engine #9 has gone significantly downhill. I have dined there for many years and they used to be much better. The cheese on their burgers is so thin you can see through it. Very disappointing. I ordered two pieces of cheese on my burger and they did not even equal one slice of reasonable thickness. Burgers were cooked as ordered. Fries and tots were good. Was in town on vacation and was looking for a good burger spot. We had the Bokor and the Heart Attack. Both were very good. Juicy and full of flavor. Our waitress was real nice and friendly too. My friend and I are on the Keto diet so we asked for no buns, lettuce wrapped instead etc and she got both burgers perfect. As our side we got the cucumber and tomato salad. Very tasty. The burgers were really good. They're huge too. We ended up splitting two. And taking some home to heat up later. I had the heart attack. That's the burger we killed. It was so good. We also ordered the black n blue. Wasn't crazy about it. Do not get the chicken gumbo. I sent it back because it was too salty. The bar is kind of dark and cold but it's a good place to watch sports. Decided to try this place for lunch due to the awesome reviews. We parked, and walked on the sidewalk next to the mountain of trash and stench on the side of the building. We went inside and were told to sit anywhere, "there's tables in the back". We were lucky to get to the back as our feet stuck to the floor the whole way. We sat at a table, & watched two servers work the surrounding tables for 10 minutes. We were never greeted, never served. We got up and left at the 12 minute mark. Will not be back. read more

I honestly can't get enough of this place. I unintentionally gave up burgers at some point and then one day decided I was in the mood for a good juicy burger. I found this gem in St Pete and now compare it to every burger I eat. My favorite is the wino burger! Barbecue sauce, onion rings, bacon and cheddar cheese. If you want the "BEST HAMBURGER IN TOWN" this is THE PLACE to go!! They also have lots of really good food and I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. On top of their great food it is probably the best sports bar to go to. The bar area itself has a lot of seating and lots of TV's. The staff is always accommodating to change the channels to the game you would like to watch. I highly recommend this place but go early during good games as the seats go fast. It was a best kept secret place to go when it first opened but now the secret is out and it is very popular so you know it is good. What a place! Walked right in and you just grab an available table. Scan QR code and menu popped up. Was amazed at all the different burgers and went with the black and blue burger. Get the Sriracha Crusted Hot Wings!!! These are sooo amazing and not overly spicy. All of the burgers we ordered were really good! I had the Marie Laveau with the cucumber salad. It did have a spice in it that I couldn't pinpoint and wasn't the greatest, but the burger was cooked well and they were generous with the crawfish. My boyfriend enjoyed the Van Helsing and brother enjoyed the Black Flag (minus Franks Red Hot). My favorite of the 3 was definitely the Black Flag. We went during covid and they handled everything really well, all things considered. The food was amazing and the beer selection was great. I got the strawberry beer and the mango beer, both incredible. The food was fantastic, the entire table stopped talking to focus on scarfing everything down. I got the don carlo burger and it was the perfect choice. They have little TVs next to each table so that you can watch your own shows instead of having one big tv with the game on but make sure you sanitize or wipe down the remote before you change the channel. Been here numerous times, always loved it, and today is no exception. Had Sriracha Crusted wings (outstanding) and tried The Saint burger. Brisket/short rib burger, applewood bacon, Muenster, a crispy chicken breast, crispy potato pancake, really grainy mustard and brown gravy. Hands down the best burger around and it isn't just MY opinion. This place has received many accolades from various places giving it the title. It also is extra nice for Chicago fans or transplants as they feature themselves as an official Blackhawk Bat and say they play the Bears games too. They have a little tv at each table.
