Came here with a large group for a late lunch when they weren't super busy. It caught our eye while visiting the area because it has the coolest outside decor and vibe and looked like quintessential Florida. It has a unique and eclectic ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was efficient and friendly, and overall I personally enjoyed most the food I ordered. I got the cold brew to drink as I needed a little pick-me-up, love that they had this on the menu. I ordered the spiced mahi mahi which came with rice and a seasonal vegetable. The rice was pretty bland, but it was cooked well and I used the citrus sauce from the fish to flavor the rice and it worked nicely. The market veggies were squash and cucumber which had no seasoning and were a bit rubbery. Loved the flavors of the fish with the sauce, but it was a bit dry on the inside. Not terribly, but more than I would have expected, adding in the sauce helped. The french fries were the bigger kind, which I love, and they were really good. The onion rings were almost all breading and the onion made up a very small portion. The calamari was also very small and mostly fried breading instead of the actual seafood inside. Overall, they were very good at accomodating our large group, lovely service and staff. The group concensus on food was hit or miss depending on what people ordered. I believe this is the first negative review I've ever left. The ambiance is great, in that the setting is surrounded with Oak trees creating a comfortable place to eat. I used to eat there years ago but this was our first time back since new ownership took over 4-5 years ago. The server was not unfriendly but that's the best you can say about her as she had little personality and she wasn't interested in us at all. We both ordered the beyond beef avocado, bacon and fried egg burger. Big mistake. We've eaten many beyond beef and impossible burgers but these burgers were way over cooked and weren't edible for either one of us. We probably took 2-3 bites out of each burger. The waitress, seeing our plates never ask us if there were any issues with the meal. When she bought the check I told her that she never asked and I know she didn't cook the meal but that those two sandwiches were probably the worst two sandwiches we've ever been served and she should let the kitchen know. She said she would but you could tell she really wasn't interested. How any expeditor could let those meals leave the kitchen is beyond me. In addition, there were 3-4 other tables outside being used and about the same inside but the meal took forever to come out and even getting the check took an inordinate amount of time. Very easy walk on an October evening especially if you plan to enjoy a few drinks (which I did). I ordered the blackened grouper with veggies and I subbed mashed potatoes instead of rice. It was really good! The veggies were garlicky and full of flavor and the fish was cooked just right! My friend had the buffalo chicken sandwich and had no complaints. Service was friendly and fast! We spent the morning across the way at the children's museum Great Exploration. I made reservations but we didn't have any problem getting an o yr side booth. The weather was beautiful to be able to eat outdoors. I chose the black and blue burger while my daughter had the chicken Parmesan. We chose to have my grandson share our meals since their kids menu was $14-a steep price. Our server was good although we had to ask to have our drinks refilled. After placing an order for a wedge salad we were told a long time from placing order that they were out of them. Server had to return for question on Old Fashioned and how we wanted it made. I was craving a hamburger and wanted to try a new place, so I chose Three Birds. I have never ordered a $21+ hamburger, but I thought that at that price, I was in for a treat. I ordered a bacon burger with blue cheese, fries and coleslaw. When my order was delivered, there were no fries (I was not charged for them. The coleslaw was not in a container, but was piled next to the burger, which soaked the bottom of the burger so that I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The burger was not worth the price. It was not as good as McDonalds, or Checkers. The coleslaw was okay, but the whole experience was ruined, and I only ate the food because I spend close to $25 for a soggy burger and coleslaw, and I couldn't afford to order another meal. Always a decent place to grab a beer on a patio when the weather is nice and one of the few places I've found that you can get a Carlsberg on tap. We got the hummus plate with veggies. The ratio was a little off and pretty large amount of hummus to the amount of veggies you get which isn't the worst thing. After this we got wings with the Asian bbq sauce (weirdly enough no honey bbq). Not bad and its flavor is based on like a sweet chili sauce before they sprinkle some sesame seeds on. We got a side of the sweet potato fries which was somewhat disappointing to see they don't have the cinnamon butter to dip them. Nonetheless the still were crispy as ever and something you can pretend is healthy while sweating out the beers your having. Net 0 calories right?!? One of my favorite parts about three birds is there is a rotating bread pudding that keeps it fresh. It can be basically anything under the sun, so make sure to ask your bartender what it is. Great place to grab a casual bite. This was the place my husband and I had our first date 13 years ago, so we came back for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It's not a fancy place, but the food is still good and the drinks were solid. We started with the chicken bites. They were good, not great, but the thai-chili aioli was delicious. My husband really enjoyed it though so he'd probably get it again. I'm a huge fan of their drink list. I got the dirty bird without tabasco, which is just basically a dirty martini with blue cheese olives (vodka) and the cucumber martini. I asked if the espresso martini was sweet and they said yes and recommended the cucumber martini instead. This was a good suggestion and I ended up loving it. For my entree I got a Caesar salad. My husband got the Grilled Beef Tenderloin which came with onion crisps and mashed potatoes. It was pretty good, I would eat it if he gets it again. The Caesar salad was solid. We got the sweet potato fries, because I used to love them, but they are different now. They are still good, but not the same as before, so I'd skip next time. They gave us key lime pie to celebrate our anniversary which I thought was sweet. We brought it home and the next day I thought it was good. It was sweet with a bit of tartness. The graham cracker crust was delicious. They have a parking lot in the back and I bet parking along the street is easy. There really isn't anything else around here, so this is a restaurant you come to just to eat here. I think this is a solid place to grab a bite. We ordered the bread pudding and it was very good! So good for them. I don't think I'll be back but you should try them out anyway. The burgers were a little dry for medium and so much blackened spice it kind of chokes you. The bread pudding and key lime pie were the clear winners as far as food was concerned. The place was not crowded so my husband and I decided to eat dinner here Upon arrival we were greeted and seated the waiter was cordial we ordered 2 Long Island drinks they were okay We ordered spicy shrimp as our appetizer and two orders of the steak tips with the sides of mash potatoes and steamed vegetables that order took awhile so we reordered the shrimp . The food was bland and the steak was the size of three golf balls hard to cut and chew for $147.00 was not worth it for the 3 drinks 2 steak tips with sides and of course the dry box cheese cake with chocolate syrup dabbed on top. It's an unbelievable hidden gem in St. Pete. I have passed this place hundreds of times on my bike ride down to Vinoy Park and have seen it a ton advertised on OpenTable. It's a three-minute drive from downtown in such a cute little neighborhood of Crescent Lake. I have now eaten here twice in the last month and a half and will continue to do so with back-to-back incredible meals. It was a cold night last night, but we still ate on the porch, and they had the heaters going, and I almost got too hot. The place is humongous and super open concept. Both times, I have ordered the grouper sandwich, blackened with french fries and a side of ranch, and I haven't been disappointed as this is one of the best grouper sandwiches. I think I've had since moving down here. For dessert, I've gone with the peanut butter pie both times, and it will knock your socks off good. This place is relaxed with the porch seating. I had the salmon with a chili sauce. It was a delicious meal but be aware if you don't like cilantro because there was a ton on the meal but was not mentioned in the menu. My husband had a mushroom gravy burger that he enjoyed, and we ended it with a piece of their authentic and delicious piece of key lime pie. Having been in St. Pete for over a decade I've surprised myself by not visiting this establishment, despite it being of of the few things that's survived in this city. Turns out unfortunately I wasn't missing much. Both the menu and the actual food itself left a lot to be desired. Of all three of us, there just wasn't anything worth taking home. It very much felt like the food had been frozen, quality I could get from a box. I'm guessing sysco. The positive was the cocktail menu, which was lengthy, creative, and had good prices. The outdoor area was cute. This has a tavern bar feel but more family friendly, or at least there were quite a few kids there. Three Birds has multiple outdoor dining areas, most of which are shaded from the sun. The raised deck area features fans. The historic restaurant is also very dog-friendly, offering bowls of cold water without even being asked. Service is efficient and knowledgeable. Five stars! read more

We're new to St Pete, only having lived here just over a year, so still discovering new places to eat. We'd driven by Three Birds Tavern and it looks so nice we've been wanting to try it. Last week, my man had a business meeting with a group of his colleagues there, & he suggested I come along for the ride to try it out for dinner. Since they have a lot of outdoor seating in a nice back garden, I brought along our dog, Ace, who is extremely social. (We always meet more people when he dines with us, because he's very handsome & has the cutest smile!) I started with a shot of Proper 12 Irish whisky (my fav!), then ordered their Tavern Salad of mixed greens, apple, feta, sunflower seeds with a perfectly dressed citrus vinaigrette, and JoJo's Unpeeled potato wedges which are deep-fried which were crispy & not at all greasy, served with a yummy, house-made beer, jalapeno & cheddar dipping sauce. I was very happy to find the food was delicious, everything fresh-fresh & from scratch. Being outdoors under the trees of a clear Spring evening under huge water oaks made the meal even more delightful. Other people brought their dogs with them, so it was a lovely social visit, too. We have found a new favorite! I was expecting a bar with decent bar food, a place people come to drink. But Three Birds Tavern is a very good restaurant that happens to also be a well-stocked bar with fine quality brands. Nice combo! I even experienced many of them myself -- the great parking, ample indoor and outdoor seating, televisions mounted on the walls for convenience, great location, friendly service staff, great menu with numerous options depending on your mood, the smoky fragrance from the fire pit warming up the air around you when seated outside and more! The coconut shrimp came out first as an appetizer. They looked and smelled great. They might have been a touch over done. However, I personally loved the extra crunch when you bite into them. Here's the thing though, the sauce is a necessity, not an extra. Meaning if you eat them without the sauce they're average at best. However, the food was overwhelmingly plain. I was so excited to dig into my Three Little Pigs omelet. Yet, when it arrived and I took my first bite, it was lacking in the flavor department. It didn't taste "bad," but it didn't taste like much of anything at all. They've got the food presentation down, everything looks good. I noticed that so many of the reviews for Three Birds were about the wings, that I wish I lived in St. Pete so that I could go back and try them. When we showed up it was relatively busy, but we were sat right away out on the patio. I wanted to try the scotch eggs as an appetizer but I was told that they had just ran out when I ordered them. I ended up going with the Spicy chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The menu also got me to order (out of curiosity) a Wagyu beef hot dog. While it tasted fine, what I learned is that there is no reason to order a $10 hot dog unless you REALLY want a hot dog. Wagyu means nothing when it is hot dog form. Hot dog aside the food was very good, the prices didn't break the bank, and the patio was a beautiful place to sit. On a return trip to St. Pete I would easily stop again and maybe try the wings and maybe the scotch eggs provided that they didn't run out. read more
