Had an issue with our furnace and called at 7:45 am Engler Heating who we have been using for years. The owner Brad picked up the phone and I explained that we were without heat off and on . By 8:30am his son Aaron was at our door and fixed the problem . Did not try and sell me a new furnace or up sell me on any work . Their pricing is very competitive compared to other heating and ac companies. This is a family owned company who you can trust with your heating and Ac needs. I relied on Engler for almost 30 years in my previous house - they handled the routine inspection of my old furnace and kept it working while friends and family have had to buy and replace new furnaces during the same time span. Flash forward and I've moved to a condo with another old furnace, so of course I called Engler to clean and inspect it. Terry and his assistant (sorry I didn't get his name) arrived as scheduled; they had shoe covers so I didn't have to worry about my new carpet, and they had the furnace cleaned and all set with no problems. They do not try to get customers to replace furnaces just because the furnace is old and they want to make a sale. I will call on Engler later this year to do a similar inspection of my A/C. read more

This business is across my house. When 6+ inches of snow came down they decided to park their business vehicles along my side of the street. Shortly after the plows came through they omitted my area because of the vans. I brought it up to the son's owner to park his vans on business side of the street instead of neighbors side. His response was "we can park anywhere" and simply walked away. Son's owner seemed young and probably could use a lesson or two about professionalism and respecting other neighbors/clients. I am in total agreement with the other reviewers. "Wow!" is all I have to say about Brad Engler and his crew. Why don't more business operate like this? Here is the story: I thought I would share what we think is probably the best experience we have had with a home-related repair. I get no payment or any compensation for this. I just think these guys deserve this in case others need to have work down at their home. So our unit has had an original 1993 Furnace/Air Conditioner in it. The A/C didn't work from the time we turned it on this summer (unfortunately, we are finding this out after we closed on the house). We had a repair company come out to have a look and to see if they can help us squeeze a few more years out of it. They charged us $60 per pound for R-22 refrigerant (this is Freon which is getting expensive because of EPA regulations) for 5 pounds. With the service call, we paid $387. That Freon lasted 2 days before the system was blowing hot air again. We had the service company come out and look again and they found that there is a leak in the system. A/C systems have 100s of feet of tubing that the Freon runs through, so chasing a leak is an undertaking and is very expensive. That company refunded 1/2 of the cost of the Freon; which was great (City & Suburban Heating & Cooling - great guys too). After mulling it over, we decided to just bite the bullet and replace the system. We had 4 different vendors come out and quote it. All-Tech and Four Seasons were most expensive. The cost to replace the system including new condenser, furnace, compressor and evaporator was initially quoted at around $5,508 using Bryant equipment. It seemed like this was the best deal but not really. I got a referral to Engler to have one last look and see if they can locate the leak. Engler sent a tech out. He spent 1 1/4 hrs tearing the system apart. I thought the call would cost $98. He couldn't locate the leak. His boss, Brad Engler, called me and said he would look at it himself. He came out 20 minutes later, looked around and suggested that the cost would be too high and to just replace the system. I thought "here is another sales guy trying to take a bite at me". He went through the pieces, why it should be replaced and he looked at the issue of the different temperatures between floors and how to handle it. Being a former engineer and construction guy, Brad was straight up and to the point. No BS with this guy. He quoted replacing the entire system with equipment that he himself uses at his home. At about 64% of the other guys'. Luxaire is the equipment quoted and so I did some research. It is a good brand. When asked how quickly he can get the job done and how long it would take, he said he would switch some projects around be at the house at 9 am the next day and that the job would take about 9 hours. They showed up, were professionals, got the job done and cleaned up after themselves. The system runs beautifully. It has only been one day and the temperature has dropped outside, but the A/C is smooth, has a strong blower and is quiet. Brad supervised the start of the job himself and was the one to come and get me when the job was done. They went as far as to replace the wiring buried in my backyard which was starting to corrode and that wasn't even in his quote. Engler handles installations, service calls, repairs and they also do other mechanical systems. While he was there yesterday, I had him look at my water heater (which is probably the next thing on the death-list) and he does those as well. Anyway, I like to do what I can to support people who are honest and do good work at a great price. Engler did great and really came through at a low cost and quickly for us. We all need these guys at one point or another, so having a referral is much better than not having one. I suggest you always get work quoted first, but make sure that Engler is on your list of providers of people to call. read more

We awoke at dawn Shivering in our best long johns Engler saved the day Sometimes, I am so surprised by not only the knowledge but also the speed of service of an experienced technician that it lends me to poetry. And I am no poet as you can easily read above. I placed a call to Engler Heating & Air Conditioning at 11AM. I had been plying the internet all morning on how to diagnose the issue. I have an older Goodman GMNT080-4 gas furnace. It would go through the motions of trying to "flame on" three times and ultimately fail. Through the peep hole I could see the 1 blink error code. I told them this over the phone and then told me they would be out to my place the same day. A few hours later, they're here! They take a look and had figured out that my ignitor was cracked and needed to be replaced. They took the time to show me where it was cracked and then compared it to the new unit. They also explained that I should have seen an orange glow during the furnace startup and asked me if I had seen it, to which I said no. They inspected the blowers, cleaned the fire sensor, oiled the draft inducer motor, and watched the unit to make sure it was working properly. They probably did some other things as well, but I was doing a victory lap around my house. Now that I know what to look for, am I as impressed? Yeah I still am. They knew exactly where the ignitor was on this model. They had the part in their van. They took the time to explain it to me in a friendly non condescending way. They made me feel that it was money well spent on a service. Highly recommended. read more

I made the appointment for the estimate and made sure I was home for the appointment. I spent about half an hour with the owner of the company. I was told he was the only one who could do estimates. Never received the estimate. The owner has no respect for my time by doing that. I will never call them again. read more

I'm so used to the Home Depot/Sears mentality where you have to wait weeks to get service. I called them and the woman who answered said I'm sorry we can't get out there today but we can tomorrow. I was like what?? I don't have to wait 3 weeks? But it gets even better. They fixed my decrepit central air in just a few hours. I thought I'd need a new one. It's works beautifully. They need to get their office management act together. They came highly recommended and I called them on Monday. It took 2 days to get a return call and they left a message. I called back right away and it took a considerable amount of time to explain to the person that answered that I was returning a call and was trying to get an appointment scheduled. After all that, I was told the person I needed to talk to was out and would call me back. They never did. I called again and then they insisted they called back. No missed calls or voicemails. I previously had appointments with 2 people from other companies in to try to fix this really annoying clanking on my older hot water boiler system. Neither one was able to stop the clanking, and insisted that bleeding the radiators would fix the problem (even though I told them that had already been done repeatedly). Once they couldn't figure it out, I was left with a bill for their time and still had the noise. I called Engler Heating at the suggestion of William Stoker Co (since Stoker had over a month waiting time to get an appt). I called Engler and got an appt for the next day (even during the busy season). Brad came out and within five minutes determined what the problem was, a busted valve. Since it is mid winter and the repair is not absolutely necessary right now, we decided to wait until spring to replace it. They are very reasonably priced, friendly, Brad knows his stuff, and I didn't have to wait weeks for an appt. They have become my go-to for heating. read more
