I've waited a while to review Enoch's because it's local to me. Wanted to make sure I wasn't being a biased homer because of the location. After a few visits here, I believe that it is the awesome place I thought it was after just one visit. There are two dining areas--the patio/tasting room and the main restaurant. The tasting room has a pub fare menu but do not let that deter you from eating there. Everything I've had has been excellent. I've tried the nachos, pizza, cubano, salads, etc. The ingredients are always fresh and the seasoning is perfect. In the main restaurant, the menu is more extensive. The steak I've had was tender, cooked to perfection, and delicious. It was as good as anything out there. The views and overall atmosphere are outstanding. I've eaten in Napa and their sterile immediate surroundings can't hold a candle to the feel of Enoch's. The scenery holds its own against anything the Northern California wine country has to offer. It is a true pleasure to visit this vineyard. One disclaimer: There are a lot of young people working as wait staff here. They are not the most aggressive servers you are going to find so they'll need a little direction from you. If you need something, ask. They won't have the experience to know your needs. They are not there to maximize the revenue from your table so level set your expectations with them from the start and you'll have a wonderful experience. read more

The charcuterie platter is rather basic, just crackers and common cheeses with italian style meats (basically pepperoni), but the portion is huge so it is worth it. read more

Excellent wines great service their Norton varietal makes a good sweet as well as a dry wine ,sweet Cynthia and Norton and really stand up against almost anything made in the states. What a gem! I can't believe my husband was holding out on showing me this place for four months since moving to Shreveport. A perfect escape for anyone, whether you live in Dallas, Shreveport or a small town nearby. I felt like I was back in Portuguese wine country. The wines were excellent, we tried the dry red flight and the dry white & rosé flight. Both were excellent. The Dolcetto was our favorite red (we took a bottle home with us!) and the Virmentino was an amazing white--my description would be dry with notes of watermelon & marshmallow. SO GOOD. the food was great as well. We split the brisket sandwich and Parmesan rosemary fries. One entree is enough for two people! Next time we come, we plan to get a bottle, more if we come with friends, and split the Napa plate! We loved the atmosphere and will definitely return. Great service. I had been to ES for a wine tasting and found out they also had a restaurant across from the tasting room so I made us reservations for a Friday night and WOW was it amazing. We had an amazing ES wine and the Bison filet with Brussels sprouts leaved & green beans, my husband had the Brussels sprouts & riced cauliflower. The whole meal and the whole experience was amazing. I don't know why this lovely place is not booked solid all the time. The staff was excellent very knowledgeable and so friendly! I recommend this place highly and plan on going back often. read more

There's a new Executive Chief in town at Enoch's Stomp we visited again. Very glad we did. It was a perfect evening. Just had a wonderful dinner at Enoch's Stomp. Buildings, grounds and vineyards were beautiful. Service was prompt, friendly and professional. All four of us loved our delicious meals, filets, flavorful chicken parm and lovely shrimp pasta dish. The ladies enjoyed their wine flights. We had a nice visit in the wine tasting room and bought a bottle of a beautiful "Texas port" from Miss Ellen, the wine hospitality ambassador. We visited Enoch 's Stomp Friday night and were set to go to the wine bar area. We had been told it was a fun place with wine tasting and a light menu. When we arrived, it was extremely crowded and there was one waitress to serve many tables. After sitting for longer than we thought was reasonable we decided to go somewhere else. We were aware there was a more formal sit down restaurant next door, but were told by the hostess at the wine bar that it was full so we were headed out the door. As we were leaving, Misty, the general manager of the restaurant and wine bar approached us inquiring what was wrong. We were grumbling about the lack of service. She immediately took us into the main restaurant and seated us. The experience that followed was truly spectacular. Misty personally took care of us and allowed us to sample some of their wines. We found the Merlot to be perfect for us. Stormie took over as we progressed to the meal. She too was amazing and filled us in on the history of the winery. Needless to say, the food was extraordinary. Between 6 of us we had grilled pork chops, pot roast, chicken parmesan and a filet. All we perfect and the steak was a perfect medium rare. The poblano cheese grits were something special too. Needless to say, Misty and Stormie stole the show. They took what was headed to be a disaster and turned it into a spectacular experience. It was so good, we are planning on a return trip tonight. If you're anywhere close, you have to try this place, but they are only open a few nights a week so check first. New Year Eve 2016 This review is solely on the "Pub Fare" and experience. The event was lackluster. The DJ had some technical difficulties where his music sounded like a 45 set on 33 (only those of a certain age group will understand this reference). The place livened up after time but the younger crowd looked bored. We over ordered so we could sample the food and take leftovers home since our intention was to celebrate a bit. My wife ordered the French Dip sandwich and a Pepperoni and sausage pizza for me. The chicken noodle soup that came with my wife's sandwich looked amazingly like Campbells Chicken Noodle soup with grilled chicken added and possibly some flavoring to the broth. Just can't fake those noodles. Sandwich was okay but the Au Jus was bland. The pizza was deplorable. For the prices, I would have expected something a bit more artisan rather than Pillsbury. They could have done so much with this but this is the kind of homemade pizza I used to make in college after a long night of drinking. It's lazy and not interesting. The wine here is good. I do like the idea of the wine flights. We finalized on the Dolcetto which is a nice smooth red but not too dry. I have to stress that this review is based only on the above items. I booked my wedding here 10 months in advance. The person I booked with and spoke to said it would be $1,500 to have my wedding there and I would get use of tables, chairs, table cloths, chargers, plates, silverware, and glasses. I informed her that I wanted to cater my own wedding (being from a large Cajun family, I always dreamed of having gumbo and I wanted to do my own cake and desserts) and asked if the plates and serverware would still be available to me. She confirmed that it would be, but I would have to pay an 'outside food fee' and the cost of that would cover the venue paying the man power to clear out and wash the dishes. That is completely understandable and I agreed. I was so happy about that and it was a pivotal reason that I decided to book them and paid all upfront. Fast forward to a week before my wedding and we are on the phone with the venue to hammer out the last details. My mother-in-law bought extra catering from them ($500's worth of appetizers) and we also ordered about $500 worth of wine from them. But as we were on the phone something prompted me to ask about the plates and stuff. I was then informed that I would NOT be granted use of plates like I was originally promised but I would still have to pay this 'outside food fee' because that was in lieu of using their catering.... This was a huge stressor. After informing them that I was originally promised the use of plates, they informed me that they "parted ways" with the lady that I originally booked with. They pulled through on the plates, thank goodness, without too much teeth pulling. But I got all sorts of excuses about "this is the last wedding we are allowing outside food." I was also denied use of their kitchen to store my cake or just use a burner to heat up a pot of gumbo for the buffet. Citing "cross contamination laws from the health department." Which do not exist. I spent 15 years in the food handling and service industry and no such law was ever made or enforced. Restaurants refusing outside food is a direct result of liability if people get sick, not 'cross contamination'. They also stated 5 days before my wedding that I "really need a food handlers license to serve food, but we'll let it slide since yours is the last wedding we are allowing this for." No mention of this was made and is not necessary unless I am selling the food in their premises to customers. I would only be feeding my family. The day of my wedding was a hot mess because of a lot of other things, but as the bridal party was getting ready we had to ask for water three times and waited about 2 hours before getting anything. We weren't checked on at all or asked if we wanted any food until after they delivered the water. They asked once and then we never heard from them again. I had a friend go to the bar 2 hours before I was to walk down the aisle to order me some nachos and waited about 45 min for them. Had to go out and get them myself. I had time to shove about 5 nachos in my mouth before walking. The 'event coordinators' didn't really know too much nor did they coordinate much other than "where do you want tables and chairs". The night before we came in to decorate and we were there for an hour before anyone came to ask if we needed help. We ended up rearranging the whole reception all by ourselves, moving tables and everything. The day of the wedding was essentially the same thing. I was asked a couple of questions on placement and then seemingly forgotten about. We were all running around like crazy trying to coordinate things, like band set up. My sister even heard a worker snarkily say something to the effect of "I just love when people walk around here like they own the place." We don't like to make assumptions, but there was literally one table of very quiet people in the bar area so we aren't sure who else they could have been talking about. In my experience and my sister's, when you rent a place for a wedding and drop about $3000 for food, wine, and rental fees and someone says they are the event coordinator, you get a little more coordination and attention than what we got. Granted I know we had our own decoration with table runners and centerpieces and a buffet to set up, but a hand in moving tables around where we needed them or even just "hey, how are you seeing this ceremony going? Would you like me to direct people to the reception hall after the ceremony? Can I signal to cue music for your walk?" Things that would have taken about 30 collective minutes out of the day. The venue is gorgeous and the pictures will be amazing, but the lack of help was quite annoying when I was trying to get married and being pulled in a million different directions. I for sure would have appreciated someone popping their head in the bridal suite, which is right around the corner from the bar and kitchen, and someone saying, "has the bride eaten? Here's a menu. Can I get you something to drink?" Nothing. read more

Keep in mind, "Dining is not just the food, it's the experience." Venue: Unbelievable, the rolling hills of a fully operational grape vineyard in the back woods of East Texas. Isolated, peaceful, and beautiful with fabulous outdoor views from both the restaurant, a.k.a. Lodge, and the Winery which is the event room. Outdoor seating at both will be a must when temperatures drop a bit. Indoor is an elegant lodge themed dining room, though the tables are a bit crowded together. Unfortunately, I walked out behind the event room where there is a huge fire pit that will be perfect for fall/winter outdoor seating and noticed trash scattered about and unfinished construction of a bamboo wall along the hill that looks to be washing away. While I don't expect anyone will be gathering around the fire pit anytime soon, I recommend keeping it neat for wanderers like myself and acknowledge the work in progress on the bamboo wall. Service: Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. While we waited for our table to be cleared for our 6:30 reservation, the General Manager gave us a mini tour and explained some of the vineyard processes. Our waiter was a very attentive. My only complain is the wine service. This IS a vineyard restaurant so the focus should be the wine. Neither our waiter nor those I saw serving other tables knew how to serve wine. They just popped the top and proceeded to pour every glass to full - evenly dividing the contents of the bottle among the glasses. So, if the owner happens to read this post, here is my suggestion for wine service: 1. Server presents the bottle of wine to the table and asks who will approve the wine. 2. The server uncorks the bottle and hands the cork to the person who will approve. 3. The waiter pours a small portion of wine into the approver's glass and allows the approver to assess the wine-swirl it, smell it, taste it, etc. 4. If given the nod of approval on the bottle, the server then pours SMALL servings-about 1/4 to 1/3 of the glass- for all who will be partaking. 5. The bottle will most likely not be empty, so it remains at the table. 6. The server may return later and offer to refill some of the glasses but, again, don't pour the glass more than 1/3 to 1/4 full. The wine and food: Do the wine flight. It is handled beautifully and gives a chance to try before committing to a full bottle. However, I caution mixing wine tasting with dinner. We were so stuffed we could hardly make the drive back home. I strongly suggest you plan to either taste the wine and partake of some of the wonderful appetizers with your flight or go for dinner. For appetizers, we chose to share the cheese plate and the meat plate among 4 people. The wine in my "not so wine snobby" opinion was above average for Texas wines. You can choose a sweet flight or a dry flight. The cheese and meat plates were great and included cheese, assorted crackers, marinated veggies including artichoke hearts, several fruit choices, bread, and dipping olive oil. The entrees were good. Grilled portabella and red pepper on cibatta bread was amazing. The salad that came as a side to the dish was rather boring but the homemade onion dressing was great. Two ribeyes one with potato strings and one with baked potato were properly prepared. Would like to see a little more finesse on the prep. Need to carmelize a crust on the steak, but these were probably a bit on the thin side for doing that. Filet was OK but a bit dry when cooked to medium. Topped with a nice glaze. I recommend ordering medium rare or choosing another cut. Dessert: Lavender ice cream was interesting. Service would have been better if the ice cream had been formed into a scoop ball and added some simple garnish like a mint leaf or, better yet, a lavender sprig. I hope this restaurant is around for many years to come. It has so much potential. read more

This is our favorite vineyard in East Texas! The view of the grounds and surrounding areas are amazing! The staff is super friendly, the decor is superb and the food and drink are out of this world! We had the Caprese Pizza...LOVED it. I had a flight of the dry reds and every one was fantastic. The GF & her folks really like the sweet moscatos. I can't say enough good things about this place!!! The location & scenery definitely deserves 5 stars. It is an absolutely beautiful property that feels far removed from East Texas. The new tasting room/patio was the reason for our visit this weekend. They deserve 4/5 stars here too. They've built a really nice casual dining venue alongside their main restaurant. There's seating both inside and out. We sat outside & revisited their wine flight offerings (dry or sweet - $7). They have some nice wines here & a variety of light meals to satisfy most tastes. We chose sandwiches, but there were also meat & cheese boards, pizzas, sliders, chips & queso - quite an assortment. Service: Here is where they lose stars. While we had a very nice server, it's all in the details & the details were lacking. Service was very slow, even though we were one of only a few tables occupied. Basic items were forgotten. Food took a very long time - that would have been more acceptable if it arrived at our table piping hot, but it did not. Service definitely could be improved. All in all, worth the trip & we will return. I just hope service is better next time. read more

We met some friends for dinner at Enoch's over the Fourth of July weekend. We live in Dallas but come to East Texas to our lake house every other weekend. We were not aware that this place even existed just a few miles away from our weekend retreat. It is a beautiful property with meticulous vineyards surrounding the restaurant and wine tasting buildings. The food was fresh and delicious. The views were spectacular with the setting sun over the vineyard. It is something you would find in one of the better restaurants in Dallas tucked away in some rolling hills in far East Texas. The menu seems to be designed to compliment their wine selections that are all made on site. We all shared a Napa Cheese plate to start with that was plentiful with outstanding cheese and sliced meat selections. The main courses did not disappoint either with farm fresh vegetables, prime cuts of steak and a plate of seafood pasta. We will be returning to this place, hands down, and look forward to taking friends that come visit the piney woods of East Texas with us on the weekends. It's a must try kind of place even if you have make a little extra effort to get there. read more

We were stunned to discover this hidden gem in northwest Harrison County! It is worth the drive just to see a beautiful vineyard in a most unexpected place, the Piney Woods of East Texas! We were greeted by a friendly staff member on a very slow Thursday afternoon. We were presented menus. Our order was professionally prepared and quite tasty. We also ordered the wine sampler and enjoyed the tasting. We can't wait to return to try their dinner menu. A place this nice in this part of the world needs to be supported. read more

This place was recommended by so many people and I'm unsure why. First, our service was awful. Our waiter was untrained and set out to wait on us. He didn't know the first thing about the menu or customer service. Second, the food was not worth the price. Our waiter said their queso was cooked to order but it looked like it was velveta cheese that was warmed up. It took a whole 3 minutes to cool off and was harder than a rock. Our meat was over cooked and the tres leches we got as our dessert was so dry! Where was the leches (milk) in our dessert? The wine was actually quite good and if we ever did return it would only be for the wine. read more

The wines are award winning and delicious with a nice assortment for all likings. We had duck and prime tub which were both excellent, tasty, and cooked nicely. The venue is beautiful. We started by going to the tasting room and trying their dry wine flight. The wine was quite good and the lady helping us was wonderful. She was very kind and attentive. We had a reservation at the restaurant portion and the service was less than stellar. We didn't even get a waiter for 30-45 minutes. We were sat on the front patio which was gorgeous but I think they forgot we were out there. My prime rib was very overcooked. It took quite a while to get our food out. The restaurant staff seemed overwhelmed. I think they overbooked and could not accommodate this mistake. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the wine and tasting room but would skip the restaurant all together (except for maybe the meat and cheese plate). The vineyard is absolutely beautiful!! read more

Beautiful grounds. Lovely drive to this picturesque vineyard. The porch on the house is beautiful. Arrive early, so that you have time to enjoy the scenery. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. We went for Sunday brunch which is a limited menu in the tasting room, but there was still a variety of choices. Based on food and atmosphere, this should have been a 5 star rating. But since it is a vineyard, I had to take off a point because the wine was not as good as I had hoped. So go for the ambience and the food. And taste the wine, after all life is an adventure! read more

Excellent anniversary dinner! Be sure to make reservations. It was fairly crowded on a Saturday night. If the weather is nice, this would be a great place to dine on the deck. The interior is just as charming-in the living room of a great old log cabin. Cozy and unique! Our waitress was precious. She went out of her way to bring wine samples and had plenty of knowledge and recommendations. They have a lot of interesting sounding wine flights, but we each settled on a glass on their homemade wine. The bread they bring you at the beginning of dinner is tasty, but meager. We found just two small pieces in the large basket on our table. They never offered to bring more, but we also did not ask. The dinner salads were also extremely small. For $6, we expected more. The field greens salad was especially delicious, though, I will say. The entrees were the real star of the show here. We each ordered a filet with various sides. The seasoning on the filet is perfect, and they were each cooked as requested. You could almost cut the meat with a fork. I adored the Guiness cheese grits and would never order anything else. The brocollini was fairly typical. My husbands fingerling potatoes were not cooked though all the way-I could hear a distinct crunch each time he bit into one. He liked the Brussels sprouts though. We did not love any of the dessert choices on the menu, but wanted to finish the meal off with something sweet so we settled on the bread pudding. It was pretty good, just not my favorite thing. Wish there were a few more options! Overall, we spent $100 before tip for two glasses of wine, two salads, two entrees and a dessert. It's a pricey place, but the ambiance and the food are top notch. A few things that could use improvement, but we would celebrate another special occasion here! read more
