I was lucky enough to have a reservation for dinner here my first night in Barcelona. From the minute, you walk into the Barcelona arts hotel, you realize that your meal will be visually pleasing as well as delightfully tasteful. The staff were absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable about the dishes themselves, but also the ingredients where and how they were sourced and how they were prepared. The multicourse meal truly is a journey through the ocean, forest and mountains I got to try proteins that I might never have eaten like pigeon and barnacles! in all honesty-I can't say that every dish was delicious. But this is more a matter of my taste than preparation. I felt that some dishes were too salty and for example, the pigeon was just way too gamey for my palate. Nonetheless, the meal was a true experience in transitions. I especially loved how at the end of the main courses right before the desert you were brought a molecular gastronomy explosion of citrusy scents in the most creative way-- to prepare you for the desserts. I have to say the desserts were all my favorite! All in all a great experience and I can see why this place has two Michelin stars. The ambience was so open and comfortable that I would love to come for lunch someday. read more

The only reason I am giving two stars is because the servers were all so sweet and provided a great dining experience with their finesse and skill. The food was HIGHLY disappointing. I was expecting to have some of the best food of my life but it was the worst food I have ever been served. I am pescatarian and absolutely love fish but the fish provided was so fishy I had to drink my water to choke it down. After drinking my water it left my cup smelling like someone left a dead fish in there for over a week. The presentation was stunning but overall the food was bland, flagrant, and leaves an everlasting bad taste in your mouth. It was 16 courses of absolute torture. read more

I really wanted to like this place! It's the only Michelin-starred restaurant we went to this time in Barcelona. The service was mostly great, everyone was very courteous. The food, however, was disappointing. While the ingredients used were definitely good quality, the sauces were extremely heavy and salty for most of the courses, even for the seafood ones when they should really just let the fresh ingredients shine. It's a pity that they choose to cover the fresh taste of the ingredients with the sauces. I had to pick up pieces of the food carefully just so it wouldn't be ruined by the heavy sauce. The wine pairing menu looked interesting but rather expensive, as it's just like 30 euro cheaper than the tasting menu (190 euro in January 2020) itself. The wine's also rather expensive considering this is Spain. I asked for a cava and they did not offer me any menu and just poured a glass for me. When the bill came, I realised the glass was 30 euro. It tasted different from 'regular' cava in other restaurants but 30 euro for a glass is rather hefty since this is in Barcelona. read more

From the moment your foot enters this Cathedral of flavors from Paco Perez you are treated with all of the care and kindness in the world from the staff. Amazing experience here, this gorgeous 2 Michelin Stars restaurant is located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel Arts Barcelona, a beach front resort. We love the view to the marina, and how airy it is. We were shocked that we were able to score a reservation via the Ritz concierge. Chef Paco Pérez is a very well known Catalan chef who owns 5 Michelin stars. Two of them in Miramar restaurant in LLança and two other stars in Enoteca restaurant in Hotel Arts Barcelona both inspired by the fresh mediterranian products, what made him become famous in the culinary world. To this, joins this proposal 5(Cinc) by Paco Perez in the hotel Das Stue in Berlin and his most recent one, L'eggs in Barcelona. The cuisine of Paco Pérez stands out for spotlighting Mediterranean ingredients, emphasize on local ingredients and fresh seafood, as well as the best Protected Designation of Origin wines in its extensive cellar, with more than 700 labels. They offer some of the best wines that Spain has to offer. The chef, who trained alongside great icons of signature cuisine like Michel Guèrard and Ferran Adrià (El Bulli). Enoteca's tasting menu expresses this philosophy through avant-garde and creative cuisine. For €175 Euro, they take you over 20 courses, one outdone the previous then to the next. So many wow dishes here and unexpected Ingredients together, somehow works in harmony. The Oyster, Bone marrow & Caviar was 1 of my favorite. The Mole and chocolate was out of this world. The Uni Rice and Truffle was divine. The Catalan Style Peas, who knew peas could be this great? Creamy Morel was so lovely. The Marinated Razor Clam & Prawns & Caviar was delicious. The dessert was a show on its own. Just incredible, my BF loved it and I was too full to eat anymore food. The kitchen team was about 10 young and talented chefs as well as staging chefs, from all over the world. Just simply amazing for what they could do. The service was absolutely fantastic from the start to finish. The only kind of service that you receive at a 5 Stars Hotel Ritz Carlton. Had dinner here alone on a trip to Barcelona for work and had an amazing experience. The waiter and sommelier were super knowledgeable and in addition to the wine pairing, helped me select some other great wines to try. The atmosphere wasn't stuffy and the food was interesting and well thought out. I also had the next day free and the waiter and Som both gave me a list of their recommendation of things to do that weren't touristy which I appreciated as it was something they went out of their way to put together. Will definitely be back with my fiancé and our friends when we move to Barcelona in May. read more

We enjoyed our dining experience thoroughly! This Michelin Star dining experiment will not disappoint. We dined on a Thursday evening at 830pm and had a great view of the night sky. We opted for the tasting menu, which was a total of 18 items. A few that stood out to us were the prawn with caviar, the duck with pear, oysters with bone marrow cream and caviar, the creamy morels with foie... there were so many!! All small dishes but definitely left us satisfied. We also did the wine pairings, one French and one Spanish and tried each others wines so that we were able to see what we liked. The only negative that I had to say was the dishes came out rather quickly! Almost too fast, not enough time to enjoy and talk about what we ate before he next was there. Not even enough time to down our wine! Lol. The ambiance was wonderful and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable. read more

I forbid you to waste your money here. 2 Michelin stars? Michelin needs to wake up. Service exceptional. That's why I'll give them 2 instead of zero. Servers and Som literally perform like a ballet. Changing plates and silver etc. The food was terrible. Some courses borderline inedible. They spend so much energy on plate presentation Knut that's where it ends. If anyone in the kitchen actually tasted these dishes they'd never serve them. Unless of course they're so in love with themselves that that can't taste reality. How they're still in business I have no idea. The Hotel Arts ought to be ashamed and get rid of them because the hotel is fabulous and this place is a sin. read more

While the staff is incredible and the presentation is excellent the price exceeded the taste of the food. I should note that we only ate there one evening: that being said, my wife sent one dish back and I had one that I could barely stomach. Expect to spend nearly $200 per person. On this evening at least, a few of the sauces didn't compliment the dish. During my six years in NOLA I ate a many non Michelin Star restaurants that were better than this two star. read more

We have tried the Tasting menu on Sept 8, 2015, and it was absolutely amazing. The tapas starter followed with several courses, 10 courses in total, it delighted both my palate and the eyes. We arrived at a time avoiding the crowd, we have the best seats with Barcelona beach as the backdrop. The servers, total 6 people in and out serving us are both young and nice also full of passion. To mention their Michelin status and wonderful food would be the easy way out. The manager and staff are amazing and go out of their way to make sure your entire experience at this restaurant is memorable. I contacted the restaurant a few weeks prior and told them I'd like to propose to my girlfriend there. They shot an email back saying they can take me to their garden after the meal to do it. I was delighted. However, when I arrived, they had ended up preparing something so much more intricate. Of course, the food was absolutely amazing with each bite containing layers and layers of different flavors and sensations. The staff was patient to explain every dish and answer all our questions. We loved every bite. After the meal, the manager offered us a walk up to their rooftop. Once we got there, we were left alone to ourselves with a hammock surrounded by lit candles, champagne, and flowers. My girlfriend was amazed at the set up, and even more amazed when I proposed. It was perfect. Enoteca went above and beyond for us. The fact that they changed plans from a garden walk to a candle-lit rooftop experience shows that there is an intricate thought-process that went on to where they strive to create the best possible experience for their customers. I really felt that they cared every step of the way, from the taste of the food to the atmosphere and experience. So I am really surprised that no one has reviewed this place. It has a michelin star and has a great wine list and fantastic chef. Chef Olly was very accommodating with some things I wanted to try on the tasting menu. The sommelier was very helpful in terms of choosing the wines that we had that night. His picks were dead on and I was kinda being a PITA( Pain In The Ass) about my selection. This was a 7 course tasting menu with a few amuse to start out with. The boquerones was simply the best I have had in Spain ( even better than 41 Degrees). Here is the actual menu: Lobster carpaccio, with a citrus fruit salad *** White Garlic soup, sardines, apple and grapes: Etxemely mild in flavor and almost had a quality of cleaning the palate *** Braised morels, Iberian bacon and grilled sea cucumbers: Delicious with great texture and briny flavor *** Creamy rice slightly smoked, saffron and prawns: This had Gambas Rojo sashimi style...the best absolutely the best! *** Sole meunière citrus, honey and flowers: My wife enjoyed this, I had the John Dory with vegetables from La Boqueria which was spectacular *** Suckling pig, roasted apple and spices: Of course you can get a more rustic rendition of this from other Tapas restaurants but compressed pulled pork and crispy skin what could be better! *** Green, forever green *** Selva Negra My wife and I thought that the sea cucumbers were a specific form of pasta. It was extremely tasty and was executed with great timing. We had a reservation at 10pom and finished around 12:50am. This was perfect and I have to say that this was a well executed and precise restaurant. My hat is off to you sir. Chef Olly and Paco Perez! Chef Olly also gave me a recommendation to eat at another establishment that serves extremely good rice....again not paella but good rice. Els Pescadors. Finally, a restaurant that respects food enough to use molecular gastronomy in an additive manner! Nothing less should be expected of the "5 star" chef Paco Pérez. Our experience at Enoteca was nothing short of amazing - from the booking process to the seating to the service, the staff is professional, friendly, inviting, and knowledgeable. Though at time of writing the restaurant has two stars, the service borders on three star quality. We had the tasting with wine pairing. The theme was sea and land, an homage to Barcelona itself. As mentioned, the chef uses whole ingredients with surgical additions of molecular gastronomy elements to enhance the flavor, texture, and presentation. The taste and quality of the food is well deserving of the two Michelin stars, but just so. The wine pairing was basic; the sommelier made good use of local wines (quite an educational experience), but the pairing did not immediately stand out as exceptional. Outstanding/unique courses: - orchard - an assortment of elements that may be found in an orchard, deconstructed/reconstructed, and presented creatively in a custom platter. The course visually evokes the idea of an orchard and cues the start of an exciting meal! - creamy rice with mushrooms and cuttlefish - a great embodiment of the sea and land concept; the savory of the rice and ham complement the cuttlefish, while the mixture of textures keep your mouth busy as you taste. - squab - the only meat-dominant course in the tasting, the dish provides just enough of a sense of satisfaction without trespassing into "heavy" territory. The two pieces of squab are perfectly cooked, skin crispy and meat soft. The potato jelly, salsifi, and coffee flavors work to balance and enhance the meatiness of the squab. read more

We hesitated reviewing Enoteca because we were conflicted. First, let me say the service was absolutely top notch. Even though it's not officially connected with the Hotels Arts (where it's located, and where we're staying), the service in both is beyond exceptional. And if you've not dined at some of the world-class molecular gastronomy restaurants, this would be a good place for you to try. Certainly it will be memorable in terms of the variations in food and the silly good service. But here's the thing: the food was interesting, had many creative twists, but there was almost nothing that left us with that "OMFG that was heaven on tines" feeling. And honestly, if you're paying 175 euros per person (the tasting menu excluding wine pairing) and dining in a two-star, it's what you expect. I can identify 5-10 times of those moments from Alinea, Eleven Madison Park, French Laundry, Meadowood and a few other almost life-changing meals we've had the pleasure of enjoying. I will add here that I'm more of a traditionalist, as another well-known molecular gastronomy restaurant, WD-50, left both my wife and me cold. Most memorable from the Enoteca meal was the ginger on ginger and the lamb, the former for its creativity and the latter because it was prepared simply but just gorgeously. Please don't get me wrong. I'm not a snob, and it's not like it wasn't a very nice meal (and again, impeccable service) because it was. Sure, the sommelier was haughty and distant but I think that's a requirement of the job. Our server (Maud) handled the flow of the evening perfectly. Three stars is a harsh grade and I'd add a half star if they'd allow it, but we walked away hoping for a much more memorable experience...and no one is sorrier than I am! read more

This restaurant was top notch. We dined here on the last evening that the truffle tasting menu was available. We had the truffle tasting menu along with the wine pairing. From the moment we sat down this was an amazing gastronomical experience. The service was impeccable and the décor in the restaurant was beautiful. My husband is allergic to shellfish and he was accommodated without any issue. The wine pairings were really thoughtful, my only critique is that I wish there were separate wine pairings with each course. Certain courses shared wines, and we weren't always aware of this, so we had to ask for refills a couple times when the wines were shared between two courses (which may speak more to our voracious wine appetites than Enoreca....!). Overall, this was a wonderful evening and we will certainly be back next time we are in Barcelona! read more

When it came to my squab dish, unfortunately they forgot the mole sauce for me while my wife had it on her plate. Overall would go back here. A surreal and memorable experience in every way possible except for actually being good. The restaurant is located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel and was recommended to us by the hotel. The anticipation was high and I explained to our children how special it was for us to be able to experience a two Michelin starred restaurant. The anticipation was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. The 1st course came out and if I recall correctly was to be a palette cleaner and was tasty but underwhelming. It went south from there. As each course progressed, each item became more distasteful than the previous until finally, about 60% of the way thru, we threw in the towel and gave up. Now you would think why did you keep going and the answer was that this is a two Michelin starred restaurant, and we questioned ourselves, perhaps it was our taste that was flawed and not the food. We looked around at the other patrons and they seemed to have the same perplexed and confused looks on their faces as well. I remember in particular a group from Japan who had powered thru and we're on the dessert course. After each bite, they seemed to grimace and after that observation, we decided it wasn't going to get any better and that our taste buds didnt lie. How do I put this lightly? One of the worst and most awkward fine dining experiences of my life! SO disappointed in this place. For a restaurant that has a Michelin star this felt like someone was playing a joke on us. Where do we begin? My boyfriend and I are foodies and have been staying at the Hotel Arts where Enoteca is located inside. Enoteca had a Michelin star, and we are currently on a month-long tour of Southern Europe focused on wine tasting and dining at other Michelin Star establishments. We enjoy culinary experiences and had high hopes for Enoteca. From the moment we got there it felt - awkward. No one else was in the restaurant at 8pm (prime dinner hours), which maybe should have been a sign but it was also a national holiday so we excused the fact that we were the only diners. We sat down and were served water promptly, but then waited awkwardly for another 5 minutes before we were brought menus. (Not trying to be impatient but come on! No one else was there and the servers were all talking and not paying attention to us.) Once we finally received menus, we ordered a champagne, cannelloni & squid as appetizers, risotto (which they are "known for") and as mains we had the squab and sea bass. First they brought complimentary tapas / small bites - all of which were presented beautifully but tasted extremely bland or with flavors and textures that did NOT compliment each other well. After this we were brought our risotto - which has way too much onion and overshadowed the other flavors in the dish. Then we were brought our main dishes as they had completely forgot our appetizers - which we inquired about, they apologized, and brought us the cannelloni after we finished our mains - which was awkward. We also had multiple people coming to our table and serving us so we weren't even sure who our server was which was awkward. My main - the squab was over-seasoned. My boyfriend had the sea bass which was good but the sides accompanying his plate did not compliment the flavors. The cannelloni was bad. Just really, really bad. We had high hopes for desert as a way for this place to somewhat redeem itself but were once again disappointed as the desert was bad too. Chocolate tasted like it was out of a box. Very bland. They then brought us more complimentary light desert bites that all had truffles incorporated on them but were absolutely disgusting. There were truffles on everything, literally everything we ate, and I get that it's "truffle season" and all but they just did NOT go with some of the dishes! It ruined the other flavors and created awkward combinations. I hate to leave this negative of a review but when we're paying $50-60+ dollars per plate I expect MUCH HIGHER QUALITY. The presentation of plates was beautiful so I will give them that. But overall the awkward atmosphere, awkward flavors, and awkward service was just a disappointment. An awkward disappointment. Save your money and check out Mont Bar instead - they deserve a Michelin and your business. read more

Although we had thought we reserved Enoteca for June 29 on thefork, we called to be sure as we hadn't received any e-mail confirmation. Lucky we did as the reservation had not actually registered somehow. But the receptionist was gracious and we were fortunate that she was able to find a table for us after researching it and calling us back. In fact, it was a wonderful table, round, and surrounded by crisp White and Cream tones, with a view out over the restaurant, veranda and the port. We did the tasting menu for 3 adults including our 85 year old mother. And Enoteca prepared delicious pasta dished for our children who said it was some of the best pasta they had ever eaten (one with a white sauce and the other with a bolognese sauce). Our tasting adventure started with the Oysters Bloody Mary. The oysters and sauce matched so well and were so tasty that my wife ended up ordering more as extra. She loves oysters and has had some of the best from Japan and from the Pacific Northwest of the US. But these from France (I believe) were hands down the best. And though she usually only eats them plain or with a little vinegar, she enjoyed the sauce the Enoteca chefs had prepared (not sure if it was Chef Paco Perez as we didn't see him during the meal). The next dishes were also well received. My favorite was the Mussel, caviar of seaweed and olive. And we all loved the Hamachi fish tartar, umami touches, almond and caviar for its delicate taste and tongue titillating textures. Our only suggestion for the tasting menu was that 3 of the courses out of 8 had eggs featured. Although this was tasty for one of us, the other two felt it was a little heavier than it needed to be. Especially given the high quality, fresh and delicate tastes of the dishes that had come before. The sommelier suggested excellent wines throughout the meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. The desserts and petit fours were all tasty. As the restaurant opens to a veranda where there is additional seating, there were a few flies which we could have done without. We would love to dine at Enoteca again and will watch for the chef's next inspired menu. read more

First off I must say that the service was the best. It doesn't get any better. They do everything for you, only thing you do is left your fork. Food wise is another story. It was good, but didn't meet the expectations that we had expected. Then we add price to it and then we would have to say that it wasn't worth it. Their menu is alway changing, but the staple is the octopus rice dish. Again put price of $49 dollars aside, it wasn't delicious. The ham that is sliced in the eating area was very unique, using a hand machine to slice was different from others using a knife to hand cut. Hard to justify $32 for it. Again, we had better. The resurant is small and one of the most beautiful that we've been to in Spain, but wouldn't recommend. "Moments" at the Mandarin Oriental was better food wise, but not service. read more

Beach type feel that could just as well be on Cape Cod. Very brightly lit but attractive decor that almost feels like you are in a Williams Sonoma. Lots of outdoor seating which I can imagine is uncomfortable for the diner as well as the structure of many of the dishes during the hot summer months. Since we were there in February it was not an issue. A few overly casual patrons cheapened the place. Took the tasting menu and Spanish wine pairing, with several local Catalan selections. The meal began with several small "tapas" that were excellent in texture, flavor, and contrast. The dishes and wines that followed were adventurous and confusing at times but enjoyable for the thought required to make the connections. After the cava I was given a glass of fortified sherry that was quite strong and had strong whiskey character to it. It was not a great choice for the early courses but upon recommendation from the sommelier I saved it and it paired much better with the heavier, creamier dishes that followed. At any one point I had between 2-4 wines in front of me, alternating bites with sips for optimal experience. Some of the highlights included the creamy rice of urchin and truffle, the sole, and the squab. The sea cucumber stomach was a first, and had mushroom like qualities, while the baby eels made to look like a pasta dish was a bit too much. Overall it was creative and true to the local ingredients. The staff was excellent and attentive. I am not sure I would return anytime soon but am glad to have had the experience. read more
