Editing my review because the office made it right and got us an upgraded car at the price we originally reserved. But, we waited several hours and had we not gone to the office to wait for a car to arrive I'm not sure we would have even gotten a car. This confusion should not have happened and I am uneasy about renting a car from Enterprise again. -- Unfortunately zero stars is not an option so I'll have to give this location a star. We have rented cars from Enterprise numerous times and it's been a breeze. We made a reservation over a week ago as part of our vacation, and confirmed this morning that we would be picked up (implicit in this confirmation, one would think, is that there would, you know, BE A CAR for us). Unfortunately when the time came for us to be picked up we received a call that the office has no cars on the lot and can maybe get us a car this evening. This is completely unacceptable. For us, it's a partially ruined vacation since we now may not be able to even visit family members we haven't seen in months. I certainly wouldn't risk renting for business purposes. read more

update: almost a year later and 5 more phone calls I spoke to the area manager who was also rude and could not be bothered. Makes sense as to why the manager is the way he is. no accountability even from the top. Update: It took 2 weeks to be billed for this-why? I have still yet to be contacted by the regional manager. Update: I had to go back to get the vehicle. I noticed the seats didn't stow and go so I asked if they could remove the seat. I was told no as it was policy. I again expressed displeasure from this morning and Hamilton wanted to tell me that it was MY fault that I wasn't ready this morning and get loud while other customers were in there. That is not the case. I called Friday to arrange this. On top of everything else this van smells of urine This location has become disappointing. I called Friday to arrange a pick up today (Wednesday) for a rental. I requested 9a but the guy I spoke to asked if I was okay with 9:30 since it takes them a minute to get in. I agreed to that and rearranged my schedule accordingly. This morning I receive a call at 8:38a saying someone was on the way to pick me up. I told Jamal from the conversation on Friday that I thought we agreed upon 9:30 he told me to call when I was ready. I called at 9:22a stating I'm ready the girl told me she was sending someone. NO ONE CAME for ANOTHER 30 mins. I drove to the location at 10a missing an important meeting that I had. Whoever was there was so lackadaisical about the entire thing. Staff with an Attitude The only reason for giving this place two stars is that in the past we have generally had good service at this location. Don't know what happened but that was not the case this time. My wife made arrangement to pick up a small SUV on Christmas Eve to drive to Pittsburgh to visit her daughter, husband and three granddaughter's. Only requirement she had was she preferred all wheel drive first and if that was not availabbe, then front wheel drive. Weather forecast was good but with Pittsburgh weather, in changes by the minute an you never know. She arrived a bit before the appointed time. She asked if the vehicle was either all wheel or front wheel drive and the young lady checking her in and made it clear she did not know and was not going to go to any length to find our. The gentleman present finally did go out and confirm it was front wheel. Not knowing your inventory is rather poor. When we rent a car, we customarily do a walk through with the rental agency to make sure all deficencies are noted up front so that there are no surprised when the vehicle is returned. She walked out a noted that the seats and upholstery were dirty and stained and there were numerous dings to the paint on the outside. She went back in to report this and because it was raining, they did not go to the trouble of confirming her observations. In the end, they also accussed my wife of having an attitude because she was asking for things that any practical vehicle renter should ask for up front. Since we have had sucess at this location in the past, we'll probably caulk it up to new poorly trained staff and give them another shot in a couple of months. If that does not work out, not sure where we will go but it won't be here. read more

I'm pretty sure I won't rent from Hertz again. The 'spousal driving privilege' is an additional $13 a day. That makes their rental non-competitive. Not to mention they create a divide between the husband and wife that rent the car together who have been together for 32 years now having to decide who's going to drive and who's not. It's another tactic to make money that causes division among people. If you're single, you get a good rate. Maybe that's a good deal for you. But if you're married you'll have to pay more because they have to divide you before they rent to you. read more

Enterprise should should consider changing their tagline to "We'll Pick You Up....If We Remember", or "We'll Pick You Up....Maybe". When you differentiate yourself from other car rental services by the fact that you will pick-up customers, you would think that you would do that part well. After making the car reservation a month in advance, then confirming my pick-up on the phone two days prior, I really wasn't expecting any issues. When a Enterprise associate was still a no-show 15 minutes after my scheduled pick-up, I called into the office and was told (with no apology), that someone would be here shortly. Another 20 minutes later - and 35 minutes after my scheduled pick-up - an associate finally arrived. The associate, when asked if they had forgotten about me, simply replied "I'm just the driver". I was fully prepared to dismiss the drivers lack of concern, but was further disappointed by the agent who checked me who neither apologized, nor even acknowledged the fact that they picked me up 35 minutes late. Thankfully, the minivan we rented completely exceeded our expectations, though I am not sure if I have Enterprise to thank for that, or Chrysler. Needless to say, we arrived much later than expected to our destination. I will be using a different rental car company next time, even if I have to find another ride. read more

Had a great experience with everyone at this location. We booked online and when I went to pickup the car they were really busy but took the time to greet me and let me know it would be a few minutes as there were several people in front of me. Even though they were busy, because there was an event in town, they all had smiles and were taking it in stride. Hannah helped me out, the process was smooth and quick. The car was clean, had 3/4 of a tank and within less than 10mins after giving them my name I was on the road. THANK YOU. Made reservation a week earlier for a full size car. They called me the day before to confirm the reservation for the car, well the next day I go to pick up the car they don't have a full size car, the only thing the had was a compact car that's not what I reserved. I had to wait 35 mins to get a full size car. By the way they had to take me to another location. I had to be out of town at a certain time but oh well. read more

I write as a regular and long-time customer of this location because it is so unfair to have the rating so negatively affected by two bad experiences. I also have used Enterprise in other locations. The operation necessarily is completely different from what most of us are used to, renting cars at airports. I am always amazed at how friendly and professional the staff is -- amazed because they have a high turnover but obviously are successful at training people to represent the company well under circumstances where customers can often be unreasonable. To trash this store because on Thanksgiving weekend they could not come up with the car ordered online 90 minutes before arrival is beyond unreasonable. The cars also are always in excellent condition. I have rented cars dozens of times over the past seven years from this location, and only once did they not have the car I had ordered (although I never waited until 90 minutes before pickup), to which they responded with a free upgrade. read more

Lake Norman Jeep sent me to Enterprise for a "loaner" car. I got picked up by a stranger from Enterprise, and then dropped off at Enterprise. Several times I had to pick up a loaner car from them, because Jeep ran out of their own loaner cars. Enterprise charged me a $25.00 deposit on the car, with full refund when the vehicle was returned. I was asked once, out of the three times I've rented, which insurance I was to go under. I told them which ever one does not cost me anything. I was charged $150.00 for an insurance that I did not even need. Matt had charged me for their insurance, when my Geico insurance already had a high enough deductible. Matt refused to refund my money, and tried to convince me that I wanted their insurance. I drive a $60,000.00 personal car, which was in for a repair. My deductible is well over high enough to cover any costs in a wreck with the $20,000.00 vehicle I had given from Enterprise. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and received my full refund. read more

I have been renting from this location for YEARS, as my parents live nearby, and I live out of state. I have lost track of the amount of times I've rented from this location. When I still lived there, I hit a deer and my car was in the shop for over a month, during which time I had one of their rentals. However, when I was in town for a wedding at the end of August, I went in to reserve a car and was told they could no longer rent to me because I didn't have a major credit card, only a debit card. My mother was with me, as she had driven me there, and offered her credit card, which they also wouldn't accept because she wasn't the one who would be driving the car. They had already pulled up my file, as I'd given them my phone number at the beginning of the transaction, and the agent called me by name. He could see that I've been a loyal patron for nearly 5 years, but was bound by corporate not to rent to me without a credit card. I've had no driving infractions, no damage, no smoking in the car, etc. I was told it was a new corporate rule. This is the first time I've ever had a business turn down my money. The fact that I've been a loyal customer just adds salt to the wound. read more

The Armada that we rented had problems starting on numerous occasions. It finally broke down on a Sunday. When we called Enterprise to find out what to do, they said that since we hadn't signed up and paid for roadside service they could not help us. They offered us the option to pay for road side service, but we told them we already had that service with our insurance company, and we would be using them. When I called the Cornelius enterprise office, to find out about getting a replacement vehicle, I was told that once the vehicle was confirmed at their Charlotte service center, I could get another vehicle. I asked for the address of that service center and they were unable to give it to me. They told me that had I bought the coverage, the local tow company knows where it is located. I asked if they had a phone number, and whether or not the service center was open, since it was Sunday. They had neither. I asked them to please find that info and call me back. They said they would not do that. I also asked if I could have the vehicle towed to the location in Cornelius, and then get a replacement. They said I couldn't get a replacement until the vehicle was confirmed at the service center. They connected me to a roadside service person who was able to get the address, after searching 10 minutes, but no one could get a phone number, nor did anyone know if it was open. Fortunately, my roadside assistance arrived and was able to start the car. This is probably the worst customer service I've had in a very long time. I was willing to tow the vehicle using my insurance to any location in order to get a new rental car, but no one could tell me if it was open, the Cornelius location didn't have an address or phone number and they wouldn't let me tow it to them and trade it. Between my wife and I we spent over an hour on the phone, we still have an unreliable vehicle and we had to do all the searching and calling to figure out what to do. The staff at the Cornelius Enterprise was completely useless. Finally, to add some more background to the poor service here: when I originally rented the vehicle, I had called and gotten a firm price on the car. When I went to sign the paperwork, they had increased the price significantly, and I had to remind them about the lower quote. Either they are a shady business, or they are disorganized and unhelpful. Either way, I'm never going here again. read more

I just rented a minivan to and was appalled by the condition, age (~40k miles) and cleanliness of the vehicle. I am an Executive Level member for National Rental Car and rent vehicles 25+ times annually. I needed to rent a call locally and picked the vehicle up today from this location. The vehicle was dirty inside and out with scratches and dents on EVERY panel of the vehicle. When I questions the rep why it was dirty he stated "it was sitting out back". I feel Enterprise truly falls short from the quality and cleanliness of their National Rental Car counterparts. read more

I rented a car on Enterprise's website for this location during Thanksgiving weekend. I made the reservation the same day I was to pickup the car, and I had a selection of vehicles to chose from. When I arrived at the location, about 90 minutes after I made the reservation online, I was told that there were no cars available. Eric Poggemiller was the rep that I was dealing with. He gave me a "we tried to call you - out website isn't always accurate" excuse. I did not receive any such call. All I got from Eric was a "too bad" attitude. Now I was the only customer at the location at the time, and I saw several cars in the lot. I was told by Eric that they were "already reserved" and he "might" have some cars in 15 mins before they close "if I'm lucky". Wow... ok, fine. But Eric chose not to help me uncover any other options - instead he chose to just stare at me and say sorry. It was me who suggested to him that maybe he can help a stranded customer by calling some other locations in the area to see if they had cars. Reluctantly, Eric picked up the phone and called some other locations.... I must have been bothering him. He was able to find a car for me at the airport, over 20 miles away. Eric made it sound like he did me a huge favor by finding me a vehicle, only to tell me that my rate (a $9.99/day weekend rate) would not be honored. Instead, a $32/day rate would apply. I'm starting to get the feeling that the fact I had made a reservation under the 9.99/day promotional rate isn't very popular with this location - they'd rather squeeze more $ out of their customers. At this point I'm becoming more and more frustrated with this and Eric not offering me any viable solutions. I'm asking if he thinks this is fair to treat customers like this and he pretty much shrugged his shoulders. I asked for a manager and he said the manager (Jon Hathcock) was off and he was in charge. This is where a line was crossed. As I'm becoming more irate Eric tells me "You people from up there just always need to get your way. We do things differently down here." Yes Eric, you certainly do. However at this point I realize that I'm being discriminated against because of where I'm from (New Jersey, he knows this by the reservation) or how I speak.THIS I cannot accept. I will be contacting the BBB as well as Enterprise corporate regarding this issue. I've worked in retail sales & customer service for a number of years and I am sympathetic to the issues that these guys have to deal with. However nobody should ever discriminate customers. That's a no-no. This is one "Yankee" that will not let this slide. I was able to find a car @ the Nissan dealership across the street from this Enterprise (which I was referred to by the Hertz next door after this fiasco - they were out of cars too). Turns out Nissan rents cars as well. They were some of the most friendly people you will find and they matched Enterprises rates. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place!!! read more

I originally rented form another enterprise location, but they called me at the last minute saying that they had no cars available for me, which was a total inconvenience. I just to happen to call the Cornelius location, and they had something ready for me right away, they even picked me up from my job. The staff was very friendly and professional. Needless to say I have been renting from them ever since. I really also like the fact that they are open on Sundays for weekend trips so I don't have to rent from the airport because most local shops are closed on Sundays. If you need to rent a car and live in the Lake Norman area or close by CHECK THEM OUT!!!! read more

Since moving to the lake area about five years ago I've used these guys on average about five times per year so I think I have a pretty good handle on how they do things. Happy to report during all that time I've never had a negative experience and, on the contrary, would have to say they've all been extremely positive. I'm a small business owner myself and will rip businesses who drop the ball but I'm also happy to report the ones who don't and that's the case here. On more than one occasion I've been given free upgrades due to either a vehicle I requested not being there or being too small for me (I'm six feet eight.) I the only reason I was even at the Cornelius location is because the Denver location that I normally rent from had no cars, even though I had made a reservation in person two weeks prior to avoid any problems! After dealing with a very "didn't give a rats butt" young lady at the Denver location....we went to see our favorite Enterprise girl Talisa who was working in Cornelius that day! I give this review only 3 stars because of having to go there because of the Denver location. But I give Talisa 5+ stars!! We love Talisa!!! After the Denver location nonsense, we were told Cornelius also had no cars to rent. I had called Hertz, which ended up being right next door to Enterprise in Cornelius, and they had cars available! Even though we had to wait a short time, Talisa got us a vehicle to rent!!! Now I don't know about any other people that work at this location, but I do know that Talisa HAS ALWAYS taken great care of us when we rent from her! This is by far the absolute rudest, mean spirited, uneducated, unsympathetic bunch of young woman hired by Enterprise. When you first walk in there is a very strong odor of onions or something rancid. I was brought over to this Enterprise, because the one in Huntersville did not have a car available for me. They were very polite and kind in Huntersville. You could feel the love. In Cornelius, you are treated with very little respect, understanding, and they are very unapproachable. I have been in Sales and Customer Escalation Management for the last 15 years. I most definitely know how to treat a customer. These women barely greeted me. They carried themselves as they were far superior than who you are. Two of them were sitting at a desk chatting instead of greeting me. On a scale of 1-10, my rating would be 0. The crazy part was applied her for a position a few months ago and never heard. Crazy again, they hire only millennials with Bachelor's with no training in Customer Service. This can't be learned, this develops with maturity. Empathy was not found in this establishment. Emotional Intelligence there was none. Kindness and Compassion was not found either. I explained to these young women that my car was hit in the Target Parking Lot. The young woman who hit my car was kind, compassionate, and so very honest. She admitted fault and I applauded her!!! I went through her insurance to pick-up the car. I explained to all three woman that I was having major surgery on Wednesday and I was very shaken by this all. I requested that we find a car that was automatic, clean, not littered with trash, strong odors of smoke, and again clean and vacuumed. These young women were focused on upselling and kpi's. The cars the young woman in the bun who refused to give me her business card. She explained to me it would be an additional $5.00 per day to move into a better car. They consider a Ford Focus Full-Size Sedan. I explained to the young woman I just needed a car that was close to my Prius. I explained over and over to her because, she choose not to listen. I tried to explain to her that I needed a car that was labeled Reverse, Drive, Neutral, D1, D2. She continued argue with me that I would have to learn how to drive a car with a knob or shift. I have now been here for over 1 hour. This is the video these young woman should watch. I asked "Is this not a family business"? This is not how family is treated. The lack of Emotional Intelligence was at fault. Is you make every one of your employees a manager in training, which one steps up to the plate to do what is right? Recognition, being able to realize these insurance companies are corporate accounts. Without respect and responsibility for your action that commission you receive should be rescinded when you like a 3-year-old playing with your phone. Not one came over until it all played out and I was discussed and appalled how I was being treated. I was asked to step outside to have a discussion. It was cold and now it is almost 2 hours, they swipe my credit card 4 times, and asked for license 3 times. Finally, a young woman who escalated the entire event explained to me she was the assistant manager and she was trying to help these young women out. I did not know I was the test dummy. This is not how you train an employee. Your customers are not your test dummies. All three woman never came beside me and asked are you okay? Is there anything we can do for you? Meanwhile finally understanding that it took one call to Progressive to put me in a clean car and one that I can drive. I am so happy I never have to return there. This is a train wreck in motion. These three woman need to be trained in Empathy, Accountability, Responsibility, and Being Polite. My advice head on down to Huntersville and run far from this location. read more

I was picked up VERY quickly from my location, brought to the little rental shop by a very friendly woman (who drove carefully-this is important to me as I am a very anxious passenger), they took care of me in practically seconds for a very reasonable price and I was out in a cool compact car. Came back the next day, dropped the car off, got a ride back to my location. Easy breezy. Great customer service!! I will undoubtedly be back whenever I need a car! read more

Horrible experience. The manager Brett at the Statesville Rd Cornelius location is unprofessional and rude and has NO business in the car rental business. After reading the other reviews, it is clear that this is a pattern for him. I rent from Enterprise exclusively and very often. I had reserved a premium vehicle for a business trip with 4 individuals. I was told to arrive at the location at 4pm and when I arrived they had several vehicles in the lot. The Manager trainee Colton was very nice and offered the Mustang which was not acceptable due to size. There was a Jeep in the lot which I requested based on the size and ability to accommodate 4 men and luggage. Colton went inside to ask the manager if he could give us the Jeep. I was told by the manager Brett that it was specifically reserved and would not accommodate me. I have never been able to reserve a specific vehicle so I questioned this. I reiterated that I reserved a Premium vehicle and would like to be accommodated. After much unnecessary and unpleasant discussion, Brett relented by allowing me the vehicle if I paid an additional up charge. As I needed to get going, I agreed but stated that I was not happy about his customer service. While I was paying the up charge with Colton, Brett proceeded to mumble and make rude comments. When I told him that his behavior was unprofessional, he got up out of his chair and told me that he was now DENYING me a rental-ANY RENTAL. He refused me service and would not give a valid reason. Quite outrageous. I called Enterprise reservations to explain the fact that Brett has now virtually left me stranded at their location with no car to get to the airport and my business conference. The agent, April, was very understanding and tried to accommodate me by checking other local locations but to no avail. Then she decided to change the reservation to my wife's name as she was in the car outside waiting for me to get my rental car. April also reported Brett's behavior to corporate. Within 5-10 minutes, Brett called my wife and told her that he refused to rent a car to my wife. He had not met my wife as she sat in the car. She asked him why he would deny her a rental car when she had not even spoken to him. He did not respond but told her that he appreciated her business. What? I rented a car from HERTZ 100 feet down the road at $100 cheaper with no attitude and no issues. This manager Brett needs to be retrained or fired. He is a poor example of the Enterprise brand and is certainly not an acceptable individual responsible for training others. If you care about your business, you need to listen to your customers, especially the ones who take the time to explain their experiences. read more

Greyson and Sarah were extremely helpful in confirming my car rental and checking over the vehicle before pulling out of the lot. For five days, I practically paid a weekly rate; both of them suggested that, for an additional $28, I could have the Sante Fe another two days. After four days, I enjoyed the car so much, I called to extend the rental for the additional two days. As, per their advertisement, Bree was happy to drop me off at my home after turning-in the car. Keon and Bree helped with the return paperwork, at which I re-confirmed a follow-up rental, and Bree was nice-enough to drop-me-off after the drop-off. read more

The staff is always friendly and professional . I rent often from this location for business. For the most part, I am satisfied. I've pretty much given up on the pick you up service. They been up to two hours late and totally forgot twice. Four out of five attempts went badly so I learned not to depend on this highly advertised feature. 50% of the time they have not had the class of car I reserved. On most rentals, the windows have been so dirty inside and out that I just automatically take the car to my house and get out the windex. The inside of the windshield on my most recent rental was so dirty it was unsafe to drive the vehicle...especially heading east into a sunrise. Evidently, they just never clean the smoke or film off the inside of windows, and they don't wipe off the outside of windows after running thru the car wash. read more

Kia Optima had 30K miles on it and was filthy - seats were stained and car had strong odor of pets or smoke or both. Tire treads didn't hold road in rain adequately. It was a rental with short notice to Enterprise, but it should have been a more pleasant experience. read more
