I rent cars for travel quite regularly, and this has been the worst experience ever!!! I usually take pictures of the car during return to make sure that things are in order. During this trip, Hertz incorrectly charged me an additional $120 for tire damage. Tried reaching them by phone, but they have long wait times. They make you wait even when they call back by themselves (who does that - worst customer experience). I couldn't resolve the issue on call and they directed me to send the documents and evidence of rightful return through email. It's been 3 months today, I haven't heard back from them even once! They are not even providing the Damage expense letter, that I can use for my insurance claim. I finally decided to write about my bad experience today so that others don't have to face the same frustration I have been facing for the past 3 months. If I could give 0 stars I would. Let's start off that Bob is very friendly, and it's very sad he did not receive training for his job. When I called to get help he let me know the manager was over an hour late and he was not sure how to help me because he was new. They gave me a car that was not for for rental, first it had 3 other customers rental contracts in the glove (one going back to December) which showed me they do not throughly clean the car. Then the car is less then 22% left due before the next oil change, the car continuously does not recognize the key fob. The car won't start or doors will not unlock. Have to make several attempts until it works, the seat have rips. Lastly, tires were suppose to have 36 psi (stated on the door panel), and they all had different air pressure 75, 70, 69, and 34 psi in them. Very unsafe. My company rented this car for a month and they should have made sure the car was fit for rental until then. When I tried to call for help I was told no one could help me to call back another time because the manager was over an hour late and not sure when they were coming in. The next day I called and the woman that answered had horrible customer service. She was short and rude like I was bothering her. Told me she had no cars that I can call around to find a Hertz that had a car. That should not be my job, when this car shouldn't have been rented in this condition. When I asked for corps. Or the DM's phone number I was put on hold for over 4 mins then "disconnected". When I called right back another employee answered and said she is on the phone with the DM now and said you need to call roadside assistance and they will tell you want to do with the car and key fob. This is a horrible way to pass the buck and not provide proper customer service. I emailed Corp and it took 4 days for them to respond that they couldn't find my contract and no assistance. I would never ever use Hertz again in Cornelius, NC. Unfortunately it was the rental company that my company used. I have let them know all the issues and referred them to start using Enterprise. No wonder all their reviews are horrible, it is a true reflection on the customer service or lack there of. read more

I would give it 0 stars if I could. I rented a car from this location. My husband took a Lyft up there to pick up the car and the office was closed. So now not only did I not get the car but my husband was stranded and had to find a way back home. There were four other customers there as well that were equally as angry and trying to find alternate transportation. Do not use this location at any cost!! read more

Like w/ all national chains, your experience can vary from site to site. At this Hertz location (in a house?) I have had great experiences. Atmosphere - house, red brick, friendly, like going to your aunt's to borrow her car. Price - Cheaper than an airport site and much more happy to see you. Selection - Decent. One time they tried to place me in an LTD....that was not going to happen. I swapped it out for a Nissan Altima. They have hooked me up before...like with a free upgrade that included XM radio. I was a happy camper. Overall - This place sure beats destroying your own car on a long trip and they have great customer service to match. Even...like... if...say you forget and leave your house key on their key chain. Um, I never did THAT. In closing (for those still reading), I would like to provide a travel tip. If you ever need to rent a car, choose the off airport site. You can/ will save a bundle in airport fees and taxes, which is one of the reasons why I love this site. You might be saying "But E, how do I get from the airport to the off airport site to rent my car?" Well did you know that w/ some Hertz locations you can do a one-way rental from the airport to a close off airport site location and they will not charge the one-way rental fee? Then after you pickup up your new rental (the next day of course) you just return it to the airport at the end of your trip. Thus, saving you a nice chunk of change in fees and taxes off of a five day or longer rental. Remember click it or ticket!! read more

This has been the second time I have rented my car at this sight and have nothing but praise to this site. I made my reservation through Priceline and when I arrived the car and contract were ready. In fact, my already great rate was improved by the person attending me and I saved an additional 20 bucks for my 10 day rental! Service was fast, professional and courteous and I was out the door within 10 minutes. Asked for a mid-sized and they gave me an Elantra with 10000 miles in great shape. Included Sirius XM at no cost! No complaints there! Returning the car was a breeze and I was out the door in 5 minutes. I've had mixed results with this Hertz branch. Once I arrived at 5 minutes to the posted opening time on the front door and the guy inside wouldn't open the door until the magical time despite the fact it was raining and 3 customers were waiting to get in! Confirmed our rental twice the day before we were supposed to pick up the car. Arrive the next morning to pick it up and they tried telling us we rented a small car instead of the Nissan Armada? Then they proceeded to say the Armada had been recalled this morning and they took it to the Nissan dealership...keep in mind we showed up at 7:45 so they would've had to take car earlier than that. Rented the "mid-size" and it turned out to be a small Kia Soul with 40K + miles with dings and scratches all over it. The car ran fine though for our trip to IL and back so it turned out okay, but it seemed small to be considered a mid-size. Of course, the option was presented to trade-up to a newer and bigger car with less than 10K miles on it, but I refused since that would have really increased the cost. I found the staff unfriendly and disorganized and in general the cars in rough condition. I returned the car and they tried to stick me with a $28 toll charge that I had to dispute with my credit card company. I paid all tolls faithfully on the trip so there should have been no charge for tolls. In general, it was a bad experience and will look elsewhere for my next rental. read more

Worst ever! Placed a rental reservation 2 weeks ahead of time for a business trip. Went today to pick up car and NO CAR! They didn't have any!! Totally unprofessional attitude. They just said "oh nothing we can do". Asked for the Hertz corporate number to complain and the response was " we don't know it. " seriously? So I asked "why didn't you call me prior to let me know so I could make alternate arrangements?" The response was "our phones are down". I then asked "don't you have a cell phone?" and she replied "we aren't allowed to use them." No apologies or remorse from them - just uncaring lame excuses. Avoid this location and Hertz in general. This is a corporate location so it just mirrors the corporate attitude. I called Enterprise in Mooresville and they not only had a car, they stayed open late waiting for me to get there. I wish I could give them no stars! Do not go here! They do not care what so ever about what they're giving you or if they make you happy. Horrible customer service. They had about 15 cars in the lot and gave me the crappiest rental car ever. It was all beat up, made a rattling noise, had like 55,000 miles on it which is a ton for a rental car. It was not nice at all, embarrassing to drive, and a piece of junk that I shouldn't have had to pay for. It was not clean, gross, smelled like smoke. I was told there was "nothing else available" although they had like 15-20 other cars there. I asked for a call when a full size rental did become available and they said it should be really soon and I never got a call. I called back they said there should be one ready that night, never got a call. Called back again and they continued to tell me there was nothing else available. Had my rental car for about 2 weeks and "no full size rental car" was available the entire time, yeah right. They do not care, horrible customer service, they don't take care of their cars, and are a pain in the butt to deal with about everything. They need to get their act together and learn how to have some customer service and run a business, I could do a better job than them. read more
