Had rented an SUV from National at the airport. The tire pressure sensor light came on and I wanted to check it out, but didn't want to drive that distance. This Enterprise in Hackensack was close, and knowing that National and Enterprise merged, I took a chance and pulled in. Went into the office and waited my turn to ask if they would be willing to check out the tire pressure, and within a few minutes the manager was filling up my wheels. Even in the chaos of shuffling cars around the parking lot and customers in the office, the employees were calm and friendly. Ready to help. If only all locations were as accommodating. They took care of the sensor, so the error message is no longer coming on, and I was back on my way in about 10 minutes. Thanks!

The Hackensack location on E Anderson St needs to reevaluate who they select for their management. It seems this ASM still has not been terminated. On Saturday, February 1, 2020: Michelle Cadena, an Assistant Manager at this location, refused to rent a car to my friend without any plausible cause, blatantly lied on him, and she escalated the situation further by calling Hackensack police on him. Moments before Michelle Cadena called the police, she threatened my friend that she will call the police. She lied on my friend saying he was belligerent. Even when the Hackensack police arrived, they knew my friend was innocent and even commented this Assistant Manager escalates and calls them unnecessarily often. This location should investigate Michelle Cadena for her horrible discriminatory treatment of customers.

Absolutely pathetic. Do what I do and save yourself lots of money and rent from the Lodi location, or check for the much lower prices at other Enterprise locations. A lower priced location may not be able to pick you up due to corporate imposed geographical constraints that force you to use more expensive locations. Here's my results for a 3-day rental. A compact class vehicle from Lodi is $41.62 per day. (For only $1.01 more you can upgrade two classes to intermediate!) The same compact class vehicle from Hackensack is $85.78 per day. That's $44.16 per day more for a compact class vehicle than the Lodi location. Play it smart and take an Uber/Lyft or have a friend/family member take you to (and pick you up at) a cheaper location. An Uber/Lyft ride will save you plenty on a three day rental.

Then I said yes and my credit card, Amex, corners it also. Then he looked at me with a smart remark saying..well your company is covering for it. That initially made me feel some type of way. Then he gave my a car and it was a Camry. I have always gotten an upgrade due to my presidential status, but he said we are short cars and it won't be ready for an hour and that is when you RSVP was. I said, no...my rsvp was for 10:00 ams its past10:00. Then he goes, oh look at that. Well we are short. I've gotten upgrades for the past 4 years and I've gotten upgrades here...which Avis knows because of my disability...now I know why this place has poor reviews. listen if he was not such a smart ass then I wouldn't care. Then I drop off the car..asked to use the bathroom and she goes...oh it's clogged....at this time I don't give a crap about this place and the people who work here. Remember this...karma always comes around

I went to Enterprise in Teaneck, NJ to rent a car after my vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run…read more My insurance company and the auto body shop both recommended Enterprise, so I expected a smooth experience. They picked me up from the shop, and at first things seemed promising--the initial representative I worked with was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, my experience quickly went downhill. The manager I dealt with was dismissive and unprofessional, brushing me off with excuses about a "loss." I rented the vehicle from August 4 to August 13. My insurance company was billed and refunded appropriately. However, on August 28, Enterprise charged my debit card $323.75 for tolls that were actually left unpaid by the customer who rented the car before me. Instead of resolving this directly, Enterprise gave me the number of a third-party company, VerraMobility. When I contacted them, I was told an investigation would be conducted and that I'd receive an email within three business days. No email ever came, and when I followed up on the fifth day, I was told Enterprise would be responsible for issuing my refund. I returned to Enterprise and spoke with the manager, Ryan Karr, who was extremely rude. Rather than apologizing for the fraudulent charge, he acted as though I should have been grateful the issue was "being taken care of." When I became frustrated, he tried to pass me off to his district manager instead of addressing the problem himself. In the end, Enterprise charged me for something I didn't owe, withheld my money without explanation, and treated me poorly when I sought resolution. This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I will never use Enterprise again and recommend others consider a different rental company. I would've given them zero stars. Alexis is my go to person in this location, but I'm sure anyone there would be good to work with.

I rent frequently from this place. The hours of operation are better than the Hertz locations…read morearound Bergen (open on Sundays). The services are generally okay but it depends on the individual behind the counter. Two of them actually asked me for a job during our transactions - a bit strange. I do get my upgrades occasionally as an AVIS First member but it is rare. Most of the time, I got cars that are beat-up and not clean. I found strange things in the cars some of the time - such as dried sausages, empty beer / coke bottles, half finished Seven-Eleven big gulp cups, etc. among the things I found in the car. Once, I got a car with both windshield wiper blade so worn that they detached from the arm when I need it. I had to stop by a gas station near I78 to get it changed so I don't end up in an accident in pouring rain. Now my company is moving its business contract to Hertz and I am very glad that I don't need to come here any more.

*** DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION ***…read more I've been a frequent customer of this location for the past 2 YRS as I often rent for business. The last 3-4 rental have been extremely disappointing. The cars I've gotten from there have been absolutely filthy. The Ford Eco exterior was dirty and the interior had soda bottles and candy wrappers in it. The most recent car I got -- the Nissan Armada -- also had a dirty exteriod and the interior stunk of cigarettes . Now, truth be told I'm not one to complain so never escalated this, BUT what's driven me to this review is the dubious behavior that took place over the course of my last rental. In October, I went to pick up a car I reserved only to be told they didn't have it available. They gave me an alternate -- a dirty Nissan Armada. I took out the insurance since it was a corp rental, and started to insect the car. As I did, I pointed out a few scratches.As I was asking her to mark them, she quickly interrupted to say: "..anyway don't worry about it because you're fully covered". I thought that was a really odd thing to say but didn't dwell on it much more. Fast forward about 10-20 minutes into my trip to client and I realize there's no gas. Again not thinking much of it (and assuming I'd just return the car with same amount of gas), I pull over to fill up. End up returning the car to a different location in NY; since I'm a wizard member I have them email me the receipt. When I reviewed the transaction I noticed they charged me $230 for gas surcharge. I called the location and they refuse to share any responsibility. In fact the same women who I rented the car from actually HUNG UP ON ME as I was talking to her and refuses to waive the erroneous charges. Anyway, I've spent enough energy on this place. Won't go here anymore; and will take my business elsewhere . My next & final step will be to report them to the Better Business Bureau and then just write them off. But I will say one last thing if you ever care to rent from here... Typically I don't judge books by their cover, but in this case you should know that the look of the location / grounds is exactly n-line with the type of service / cleanliness you'll get with the product -- dirty.
