    Dirt and hair

    The truck was hideous and grotesque inside to say the least. When I arrived I was told the truck was ready and has been there for over 2 hours. I'll just say that there were body fluids, coffee stains and dog hair flying around while I was driving. I would have looked more but being in downtown Jax I wanted to get in and beat the traffic home. Let the pictures gross you out. I spent over $65 dollars to clean because I had to drive my boss around the next day

    Trash in a new rental. No clean pledge here! Unacceptable.

They did annoyingly scam me by charging me for 1/4 tank of fuel even though the needle was barely below full and at most needed a gallon and probably less. I had a work trip to Jacksonville & arrived at the airport to pick up my rental. Since I made the reservation within 24 hours of arrival, I was informed that I needed to physically go inside the airport to sign the contract. Thankfully, the line was short and I was able to head back outside pretty quickly to retrieve my vehicle. I located my rental, a Dodge Durango, loaded up my belongings, and got inside ready to head out. Unfortunately, the main screen was completely black and wouldn't turn on. I tried troubleshooting it myself, but nothing worked. I walked back to the counter and was assisted by Lachele. I explained the situation, and she mentioned the Durango was brand new and had just come in, so there shouldn't have been any issues. She came out and tried everything I had already attempted, but the screen still wouldn't power on. She then remembered that sometimes new vehicles can be in "ship mode." We quickly looked it up, followed the instructions, and thankfully the screen came on. I really want to give a shoutout to Lachele for her patience, professionalism, and willingness to step in and figure it out instead of brushing it off. She stayed calm, worked through the issue with me, and made sure I was taken care of before sending me on my way. Great customer service goes a long way, and she definitely delivered!

    Update: I spoke with…read moretwo additional customer service representatives, and the experience only became more frustrating. One representative at (800) 214-6094 claimed our receipt showed only 5 gallons, implying the tank wasn't full I completely ignoring the fact that adding 5 gallons can just as easily mean the tank was already nearly full and simply topped off. The second representative takes the prize, this dude, Ray Collins (Ref #110) at (800) 259-6095, who admitted there was an error. He said I need to pay $61 just to process the claim. Paying a fee to correct the company's own mistake is unacceptable and makes no sense. At that point, it was clear customer service was not interested in resolving the issue. Thankfully, Jamil from the local station later called, refunded the refueling fee, and apologized. That effort was genuinely appreciated and was the only professional part of this experience. Overall, the process was frustrating and unprofessional. This situation raises serious concerns about the company's practices and accountability. Formal complaints to the FTC, BBB, and state consumer services are being filed, because this should not be considered standard business practice.

I can say that this team stood out from other Hertz experiences that we have had in several locations thus far. Steve made us feel like we were in good hands with how he handled our rental. We had excellent communication via phone prior to pick up and that connection continued throughout our interaction in the office and the demonstration/ explanation of the awesome features of our rental. I was very impressed. I hope that we will be able to work together again with this team. The genuine personal attention from Steve and crew ( Devin ) made us feel blessed to have everything handled beyond our expectations. The evening before my trip, I received a call letting me know they didn't have a compact available. No problem, they offered me a slightly larger sedan instead. Great, right? Wrong. They informed me that if I wanted the larger vehicle, I would have to pay for an upgrade. I've rented a lot of cars over the years, and never once have I been charged extra when the rental company couldn't provide the vehicle I reserved. When I questioned it, I was told there was nothing they could do and that I needed to call corporate myself to find another vehicle. Mind you, I'm supposed to leave at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow and now I have no car. In past situations like this, rental companies have either honored the original rate for the larger vehicle or checked nearby locations to find the reserved car. Neither was offered. Instead, I was told, "We close at 5:00, it's now 5:09, so that's it." So here I seat, on hold with corporate, trying to fix a problem I didn't create. Customer service seems to have become a lost art. A reservation should mean something, and when a company can't fulfill its commitment, the burden shouldn't fall on the customer to solve it. SMH.

    Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Corporate Needs to See This I am…read morebeyond disappointed with how Enterprise handled an elderly customer today. This needs the attention of Enterprise Corporate immediately. My 68-year-old friend is moving from Florida to Pennsylvania. He has a valid Florida driver's license and a confirmed return flight to Jacksonville for a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Before booking, we called Enterprise directly to confirm their debit card policy. We were clearly told that as long as he had a valid driver's license OR a return ticket, he could rent using a debit card. He shows up at the counter prepared -- and the counter agent, Whitney, tells him no. She says because he now has a "local driver's license," he must have a credit card. That is NOT what we were told over the phone. Not even close. He DOES have a credit card -- the chip isn't working. We politely asked if she could swipe it. She said no. We asked if she could manually enter it. She said no. No attempt to help. No attempt to problem-solve. No compassion. Just policy, policy, policy. When I tried to explain what we were told by Enterprise on the phone, Whitney cut me off and said, "Can I talk now?" The tone was rude and dismissive. I said I wasn't finished speaking. She then said, "I don't know what the lady told you but that's our policy," and abruptly said goodbye. When I told her she didn't have to be rude, she said "Sorry, goodbye," and handed him back the phone. That was it. Now a 68-year-old man doesn't have transportation to get from Jacksonville to Saint Augustine for a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Enterprise advertises customer service. Enterprise advertises flexibility. Enterprise advertises caring about people. That was not the experience today. If your debit card policy depends on what mood the counter agent is in, that's a serious problem. If your corporate policy is different from what your phone representatives are telling customers, that's an even bigger problem. This isn't about a rental car. It's about basic customer service and respect -- especially toward elderly customers who are simply trying to make a medical appointment. Enterprise Corporate, you need to review: * Your debit card policy * Your training on handling elderly customers * And the professionalism of your staff, specifically Whitney This experience was frustrating, unnecessary, and unacceptable. I will never come back to this location again, and if I could give them zero stars, I would. I reserved a Toyota not a Hyundai. I…read morecanceled the reservation the same day and was told I would receive a refund in 7-10 business days. I called customer service on December 19th 8 days later just to be told a refund was never processed and was given a case#. I called again on December 23rd and was told it would be 5-7 more business days!!! Basically they dropped the ball and kept lying to me never taking accountability. The reps I spoke to were rude and kept interrupting me when I spoke. These people really didn't care about customer satisfaction. I was told there was nothing more they could do for me l would just have to wait for my refund. I will NEVER use Avis again and I advise everyone to never use them as well. As of today December 26th I still have NOT received my refund. You've been warned

Upon pickup car smelled very very strongly of weed, told lady she made a note in file she said and we left windows down, as no other cars available. We get almost 2 hr away and child in back seat put cup holder down only to find blunts and rolled blunts that contained weed.. Immediately called spoke to Brian of issue, disposed of items.thought car would air out. Left hospital around 11 pm, come Monday car still smelled really strong and I popped truck as we had placed everything in backseat when we left. Under the thing that covers the spare tire was a yellow DG bag that contained a good bit of weed. I immediately called Brian again and informed him. As it was a rental car there was nothing law enforcement could do.. I paid for a car that had illegal drugs in it and when returned Frankie just brushed it off, I asked do the cars not get cleaned or checked his response was if they have time. If I was pulled over I could have been arrested and when asked how the problem would be fixed a 15% was offered on next rental, Why would I rent again when the manager could not speak with respect or handle the issue.     This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. We picked up the car near evening. After…read moredriving all the way to our resort, we open the doors to get our luggage and see a roach run into the seams of the car lining. Then we notice the line of ants marching across the dashboard and window (they were black, I suppose to match the interior). We tried repeatedly to call customer service for this company, but could never get through. Being an 1 1/2 hours away from the pickup location we couldn't just drive back. Later it got much worse, the car was infested with roaches. They would run across the seats and the windshield as I was driving!!! When we returned the car, we treated the staff respectfully, but explained the issues. The staff couldn't care less. One laughed and said, "I'm quitting this job in 2 weeks." I asked for the manager, but we were told they weren't there. We could not have their number, they would contact us. We were also told if we tried to call customer service we would just be transferred to customer service outside the country. Just wow! We still have not been contacted by management. I have video of the roaches running in the car to prove it to them. I would not have posted this review if we had received some kind of assistance or concern.
