I've now gotten two cars for the same contract due to a car hitting my car and it's now in repair. the first car they gave me All the lights kept blinking one of the keys didn't work I just didn't feel safe in it. It was a 2020 Kia and it's been so beat up by other people that had rented it. next. I've been given a 2019 Nissan That the engine doesn't start right away sometimes I have to press the button to get it to kick in 6 times, as in the other car, the low tire warning is coming on. Renting a car from Enterprise could be a headache at times. I was able to rent with them through my insurance. My experience was fairly reasonable. With a few hiccups on the road, I was able to secure a vehicle that suited the needs of my family. Their selections are not the best, but you're sure to find something you like or at least something that comes close to it. There were a few times when I had to switch the vehicle that I was into another one, and they made sure that too was a smooth experience. I had an issue with the seat belt in one of the rentals, and they were quick to find me another vehicle. I can understand the POV of some of the reviews and with that in mind, I was on guard going into the establishment. So with all that went on, I was already preparing for my sub-par experience, but they were surprisingly very accommodating. We had the enterprise rental until our vehicle was out of the repair shop and they were very understanding in regards to us needing an extension. All in all, my experience was good. The staff here is amazing. They treat everyone with respect and professionalism. They are upbeat and personable. Happi was my customer service representative. I believe he went above and beyond. He helped me with my bags carrying and loading them in the car. On this particular day they had coffee and donuts and they were sharing. I truly appreciated the coffee early in the morning. I would highly recommend this location. They are about a 10 minute walk from the J and E train- Sutphin Station and about five minutes away from the F train. read more

Do not rent a car unless you have funds that you don't need access to available on your credit card. They would not accept payment or hold the rental car fee on my daughters debit/visa card. She even offered to pay the full amount upon picking up the car, they said that you have to have an actual credit card, not a debit card/credit card. I had a credit card so we changed it to my name and they put a hold on that amount. Upon returning the car my daughter paid in full with her debit card. It is now over a week later and they have yet to release the funds pending on my credit card. The credit card company told me they need to reverse the charges and the management at enterprise at JFK told me there's no way to do that. The employee that rented us the car was absolutely wonderful, everybody there was, this is more of an issue with administration. read more

Please don't just read my review but scroll down so you can get a good sense of the legal and ethical malpractices this location is engaging in. I am going to attach a list of resources at the bottom. If we all report through the proper channels, we can prevent our experiences from happening to more people. My husband and I had to wait a bit to pick up the car, since there was only one person working on getting people checked out. The salesman would not give up on the upsales to let us leave. We informed him that we were covered through private insurance, and our credit card. He would not drop it. He became unprofessional and left my husband (who was incharge of renting the car), to talk to me, the wife, who was sitting across the parking area. He made me extremely uncomfortable. We considered leaving but were in a pickle since we were already very late to leave since this took so long. Upon inspection of the car, my husband pointed out some damage, the clerk brushed it off said it was noted and went back to trying to upsell us. Thankfully we took pictures all around the car which show the damage and the location in the background to prove it was there when we took it. Enterprise would later come after us for damage along with other surprise charges. I feel we were harassed, and that the clerk did not do what he was supposed to do, which caused us lots of issues. Based on my recent pleasant experience with enterprise 12/28/2017, I'm editing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. Despite my past bad experience, my husband said we can give them another chance considering how much I've spoken positively of this company in general. Fortunately- The previous "manager" Brian (who gave me and my husband a hard time) is no longer working here. Taniesha and most of her staff were great. I clearly told the guy who did a car walk through with me, that I'll use my Geico insurance, yet and still he tried to have me sign places stating that I agree with getting their insurance. How deceptive is that? I spotted it and told him right at that moment , "I'm using my own car insurance" he then acted like it was a mistake and said ok then sign here at the decline sections. YOUNG DRIVERS BEWARE! THEY ARE SKEPTICAL AND WILL SCAM YOU Rented a car, no issues getting the car, no issues with the car, no issues returning the car. Enterprise employee came out, sat in the car and inspected it, i guess to check gas and mileage. He sat in the car for about a minute, scoping everything out. Exited the car, we both walked around the car to inspect for damage, nothing. He told me i was good, I'd get my deposit back and have a great day. Unfortunately, at least 4 hours later another enterprise employee called me and said the car smells like smoke; they are charging me for it. This was December 2nd, i remember because a few hours after i dropped off the car, my aunt passed away. that call from enterprise was the last thing on my mind at the time, so i hung up as soon as he finished talking. but i know exactly why they accused me of smoking is because i am a 21 year old new driver; and i left a bottle of febreze in the car that i had to buy since i bought some fresh fish from the market, i was starting a journey s a pescatarian. a month or so later, i posted a review and someone contacted me to try to solve the issue. Ha! Update on there "customer service and conflict resolution", a manager did escalate my issue to someone higher up. when i explained to them that i don't smoke and had air freshener in the car because i went grocery shopping and bought fresh fish , she proceeded to tell me that the reason why i was charged was because the smell of a fresh fish was so bad that they had to get is professionally cleaned, which seems like bs, because they first said it smelled like cigarettes. cigarettes and fish have 2 totally different smells. i feel like instead of admitting that because they seem air freshener and assumed i was smoking since i'm a young driver; they had to come up with some excuse to try to make them seem right. or maybe that's there way of increasing funds they might've lost since the pandemic! probably could've told them i farted and they would've tried to said i pooped in my pants! it's sad! i'm fully aware raw, fresh fish from the market with the head still on it; it smells, but it's nothing a car wash or just rolling the windows down couldn't fix! there is no possible way the smell of salmon and bass could've possible rendered a $200 cleaning fee, especially since i had it in a styrofoam cooler! i also went shopping the day before the car was due to be returned, there's no way it could have even been THAT bad still. switched to zipcar to do my biweekly fish shopping, NEVER had a complaint about the smell, and i've definitely left air freshener in a zip car a few times! read more

There's a female employee whose skinny pot faced an ugly like her attitude who needs to be fired immediately I can't remember the broads name but it started with schi or something like that. First off she arrived extremely LATE to work which made the place over crowded , my case was an insurance claim so all the information was already supplied but for some odd reason she needed to see my insurance card or i had to purchase additional insurance. What an idiot ,do you think geico will set me up for a rental with no insurance? She has no customer service skills. Do not give her your credit card , she will pull a fast one right under your eyes. Had the reservation thru insurance ahead of time and when I arrived of course there were no cars available . Basically told me to bad and to wait around and possibly some one would be returning a vehicle. While I was waiting to see a supervisor I witnessed her arguing with another customer who left their keys in a rental and she rudely told them she couldn't help and the lady should call the other location were they sent the car and she don't know the number so the customer should look it up herself. Finally a stupivisor appeared and his suggestion was to give me a dirty pick up truck for an additional FEE .I declined and the idiot female cuts in and says she won't release any cars to me from that location. That was the best thing that could have happened because i called a different enterprise Iocation on rockaway blvd . I explained what happened at the previous hell hole & they asked for my reservation number and told me there were several cars available and to come on over. This place was awesome, the employees were extremely professional. I was in and out of their in less than 5 minutes. I didn't have to show insurance card or pay for additional insurance. I got the car that I originally reserved ,it was clean and waiting at the front door. All with a smile on their faces and pleasant attitudes. I wish I could put a negative rating for this business. My elderly mother got into a minor fender bender, Insurance arranged a rental through this location, did not get the sales persons name, but a light skinned black guy assisted, he LIED (#1) to my mother, put her in a VW Passat, telling her that it was the same size as her Honda civic and charged her way more than insurance covered, made her pay the extra out of pocket even tho smaller less expensive vehicles were available and we know they were available because he LIED (#2) and told us that a Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Sentra that was available, would cost twice as much as the VW that he gave her, which had no spare tire, I guess he thought this vehicle was a good choice for a elderly woman, he then LIED (#3)to our faces again and told us that her AMEX would not cover ANY Insurance and neither would Geico in the event of minor damage to the vehicle, in an attempt to force her to buy his insurance. These people made a bad situation worse by trying to take advantage of my elderly mother in her time of distress, they will manipulate and lie and force you to pay. We returned the vehicle and booked a vehicle from another branch, quite frankly, Enterprise car rental has lost a customer all together, and based on how these gangsters operated this location on this particular morning, I will not advise anyone to rent from this company at all. This branch has lost a long time customer due to this encounter...... My car was in a fender bender and I had to have a rental for a week. This was my 2nd minor (very minor) accident this year. The rental car enterprise gave me was flawed to say the least. The tire pressure light would not go off so I had to return it no more than a couple min after picking it up. The next day just before my morning commute, the replacement cars' tire pressure light was came on. Once again, I went back to Enterprise. Car #3 was filthy and I refused it right away.. I'll spare you the details of the disgustingness. Car #4 seemed ok so I drove it, but after 2 days, the tire pressure light came on AGAIN!!!! By this time I was in another state and out of patience. I had to stop every 30 min to fill the air in the tire. A trip that normally takes 2 hours turned into 8 hours. I was NOT happy. I told the company about the stress I experienced due to the malfunctioning cars they provided for me and I have to say, they handled it like real professionals. Classy! The reason I'm writing this review is to give credit where credit is due. Magnis (I think he's the manager), for all of his hard work, needs to be thanked publicly. Thank you man!!! He did the best he could to make up for all the car drama. I felt like he really understood the horror I went through. When I flew into JFK, I had planned to rent from here versus at JFK as it was a lot cheaper at $126 for an Intermediate Car (Hyundai Elantra or similar) with a Costco discount versus $300+ at the airport and it was still close to the airport, especially to the Jamaica AirTrain station. I booked the car about a month before my trip, prepared for the best. Unfortunately, things did not turn out as planned. While my Delta flight from Fort Lauderdale was on time, if not a bit early, Terminal 4, where I arrived is massive, so it took me a bit of time to get to the AirTrain as I arrived at one of the further gates in Terminal 4 and also needed to use the restroom. Since I knew I would be late, I did try to call this branch a couple of times but to no avail. With that in mind, I did my best to get there and got the AirTrain. After getting off of the AirTrain, I then walked about 15-minutes from the Jamaica AirTrain/LIRR/Subway station over to Hillside Ave, where the agency is located. Unfortunately, I was about an hour late and after waiting about five minutes as the employees were assisting other guests, Jarael, one of the agents, informed me that because I was an hour late, I was a no-show. I explained my situation to Jarael, as I told him I tried to call the branch informing him I would be late but that they did not pick up. I also added that because I also work in the travel industry (not for car rentals), I understand that he had to follow company policy. Jarael proved to be very kind and determined, which is why I cannot completely fault this Enterprise branch. He checked other Enterprise agencies in the area, but determined that they were all sold out. While he did have one Chevrolet Equinox he would have given me, sadly, he was unable to honor it at the price I had booked, which he did not agree with even though it was what he had to do. With that in mind, he was able to find me another car at Hertz in Hicksville, which worked out fine as it was still not too far from my destination in Roslyn and the rate was the same as the one as I had originally paid. While I do not think I will be back in the New York area anytime soon, I would give this Enterprise branch another shot thanks to Jarael's kindness and willingness to help, but I hope they can be a bit more organized in the future. read more

My Enterprise loyalty ended here. I would never return here again, and will be trying the competition. I've given two star only because the car itself was mostly good (just a missing rear windshield wiper). I arrived before my pickup time and waited for at least 15 minutes after my pickup time before I was even acknowledged. They would not allow me to use their restroom but somehow thought it was okay to use the business across the street. 25 minutes after my pickup time they reluctantly adjusted my pickup and drop-off time due to their delay. 30 minutes after my pickup time my car was not ready and they tried to charge me for an upgrade to a car that would be ready sooner. Sometime later they offered a free upgrade to a car that would be ready sooner. 50 minutes after my pickup time I finally got a car and was ready to leave. I tried to return the car early (and my bill was appropriately reduced in the past), when I called they said they would let me return it and reduce the cost to return it early. Then they called back and said they won't do that anymore because of the pandemic. This rental was 50% more than the competition and I've been paying that due to good service. The professionalism and help that was given to me by Jelani Fleming, the Management Trainee, and Gibrill Kamara, the Assistant Management was awesome to say the least!!! I pre-registered on-line, and came in the Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Hillside Avenue and confirmed my reservation a day earlier with Gibrill. He assured me that the SUV I ordered would be ready and awaiting upon my arrival. Upon my arrival for pick-up, I was greeted by Jelani Fleming who took excellent care of me. He assisted me in selecting the best vehicle for my 4 hour drive, he knew the inner workings of each SUV and it was the perfect vehicle for the hills and mountains. Thus, there was a plethora of choices to chose from for a Saturday morning. The pickup was ok...girl who picked me up played rap music and never talked to me the entire ride..20 min. Experience in the store was excellent. Car was excellent and in good shape. I recently rent a car from this location and honestly I'm not happy. I had to wait about 20 min to 30min pick up and return the car, when I went to the garage the car was pulled and waiting for me, without anyone ask me what type do I prefer. The cars wasn't clean properly, there was a trash in doors holders. The windshield was dirty from inside, so I had to wipe it! When I returned the car, the lady open the truck and there were some forgotten napkins. She asked me "You just dump this?", what kind of question is that? The worst Enterprise Rent-A-Car I've ever been to. I had a car accident, used GEICO to get my rental, I had the car for a few days and I had to park in the street for therapy. It was the last day of the month and something told me to look at the registration...it was expiring that day. I decided to call Enterprise and tell them, they said come in ASAP...i asked how long it would take, they said should be no longer then 10 min. When my husband and I got there we waited outside the entrance for almost 10 min, I told them I have an appointment, I would have to leave soon. The employee asked if I was satisfied with the car, I said yes. He then handed me a card and said "Here's the address, it's down the street, take the car for inspection, it's a new car, wouldn't take more than 5 minutes" I replied with "Seriously?" He then replied " If we get you a new car now it would take longer, it's not that far, and it will be fast, look for the orange cones, that's the shop" I felt I didn't have an option, I had to go and I needed to make my appointment...took the car, headed over and couldn't find the place...even tried to GPS it...t'was difficult. This place was on the same block as the repair store of GEICO. I saw the same GEICO representative that set me up with the rental outside helping another person...He saw me and i said Hi, then I asked where this address is he said it should be on the same road...and then asked why I am going there...I said I wanted to be a Good Samaritan...but somehow got screwed...spending almost a half hour doing a job for Enterprise. The GEICO agent was upset for us, said he would make a note of this as well. I could have ignored it and let them get the parking tickets, but I couldn't do that with a clear conscience...We eventually found the place by asking people outside. It took less then 5 minutes, but still awkward and unprofessional of Enterprise... When we went to give back the car...I wanted to speak to a manager before they charged my card, the employee said "no problem, your card will not be charged until you speak to a manager". It wasn't charged that day, it was charged the next day and still no call. After being traumatized during my first car rental experience at Dollar car rental last year I expected the worst when I approached Enterprise last weekend. The staff at this location were professional and friendly and when I returned my rental they didn't attempt to tack on any charges-what I was quoted on my reservation was what I paid in the end. If I could post negative review for the Hillside ave, Jamaica New York Enterprise location I would. My experience there went from bad to worse. First I got called about a reservation that I made at aforementioned location, the person proceeded to tell me that he will call me back to see if I could get at car at another closer location. I never got called back so I proceeded to go to the hillside location which is where I had made my initial reservation. I was rudely told that they had no car for me initially then they said ok they would give me a rental which was not what I reserved initially. I had to wait close to 2 hours on the sidewalk for my car. Nobody even said they apologized for the inconvenience which is customer service 101. When I then returned the car the individual inspecting pull off the pouch housing the rear camera and proceeded to tell me that I damaged the car that I have to sign a for acknowledging the damage so they could proceed with the claim. I refused to sign because the inspector for lack of a better word pulled off the camera off the rear then placed it back on. The pouch was loose from the get go. I will never go to enterprise in future. Rude, inconvenient, unapologetic are a few of the words to describe the individuals that I encounter during my business at this location. Ok, I am posting this review because I had a terrible experience this past weekend with the Teaneck NJ and Newark airport locations (please read my review on Yelp on those locations), and because of this experience I want to tell everyone of an experience I had at this location several years ago. It was a Saturday morning and my car would not start in my garage where I lived at the time, just a few blocks from the Hillside office. Having to attend a wedding after work that day, I thought it would be easier to just rent a car and deal with mine on Sunday. I am a HERTZ GOLD MEMBER, but this office was close and I needed to get to work, so I went to Enterprise. They told me they had only one car available, and pointed to an orange color car in the corner. Not only was it a gross color, but it looked shabby and tired, but I had no choice. Since that location was closed on Sunday at that time, (not sure of the hours now as I done live in the area anymore), I was forced to take a weekend rental. I was told I could not drop it off at Kennedy airport the next day. Ok, so as I'm driving to work, I notice a slight shimmy in the wheel. I parked I'm Manhattan and went to work. After work I took the car out of my garage and drove to Brooklyn to dress and pick my girlfriend up, then drive to Long Island. The shimmy got worse as I drove to Brooklyn. My girlfriend and I headed down the Belt Parkway and the shimmy was getting worse and worse, so I called Kennedy airport and asked if I can come in and exchange the car. They said they didn't have any cars available. So I called LaGuardia airport and they said they had on silver Nissan I believe, and they would hold it for me. It was a bit out of the way, but I could take the Grand Central out so it was only a slight inconvenience. Well folks, guess what! I get to the location, and there was my car, waiting right in front of the office entrance, or so I thought! I went into the office and told them who I was, (Again with the PHONEY smiles, see my other reviews on this) and handed the woman behind the counter my contract. She looked at the contract and said SHE CANNOT GIVE ME THE EXCHANGE BECAUSE I DIDNT RENT IT FROM THAT LOCATION! Aagggghhhhhhhhh..... So I called HERTZ, AN AMAZING COMPANY THAT MOST PEOPLE SHY AWAY FROM BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE WAY MORE EXPENSIVE, WHICH THEY ARENT, GAVE THEM MY GOLD MEMBER NUMBER AND THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WILL BE WAITING. So I asked Enterprise to take me over to Hertz, and was quite shocked, because of the way they treat their customers, that they actually didn't tell me to walk over. My clean brand new car was waiting for me and we went on our way to the wedding. Had a wonderful time by the way! OK, HERE IS THE CRAZY PART. I was charged the full 3 day weekend rental. Talk about adding insult to injury! I usually use my American Express Platinum card when ever I rent, travel and book hotels, because they handle their customers with kit gloves, but in my rush to get going that morning, I used my CITIBANK MASTER CARD, WHICH WAS ALSO A BIG MISTAKE. I challenged the charge, but after review, they decided that I owed the charge to Enterprise, and had to pay them. AMERICAN EXPRESS WOULD NEVER EVER MAKE A JUDGMENT IN THEIR FAVOR. This was a cut and dry complaint. I had to pay for a rental I didn't even have! Aaaggghhhhh. Anyway, the reason I am writing this review after several years was to reinforce the fact I've been reading by other reviews, AND MY EXPERIENCE THEN, AND THIS PAST WEEKEND AT NEWARK AIRPORT, shows that for whatever reason, ENTERPRISE DOES NOT LIKE TO EXCHANGE A CAR IF THE RENTAL DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM THAT LOCATION. SO FOLKS, ENTERPRISE, WITH ALL THEIR BS COMMERCIALS ON TV AND RADIO ABOUT PICKING YOU UP AND OFFERING YOU GREAT SERVICE WITH A SMILE IS ALL BS, BS, BS. ALL THE GREAT REVIEWS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE FROM CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM. BUT FOLKS, TRUST ME TRUST ME TRUST ME, THE MINUTE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, ENTERPRISE WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY. GO TO HERTZ, AND TELL THEM ED SENT YOU, AND ALWAYS USE THE AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD, NEVER MASTERCARD, BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY. read more

Got into a collision accident and was getting my car fixed at Wayside Body around the corner. There was an Enterprise booth inside that works with Wayside to provide temporary rental cars while my car was being fixed. The Enterprise staff assured me that the car rental was going to be mostly covered by my auto insurance, but it turned out that they didn't and I got stiffed with the full rental amount, which was an extra couple hundred bucks. Enterprise staff should have double checked with my insurance to confirm before making such an empty promise. Since I already signed the agreement, you have no choice but to pay later because they threaten to report you to the car rental bureau so that you can never rent a car again if you don't pay. Incredibly unprofessional and definitely sketch. Do yourself a favor and pick another car rental place. read more

I rent here often and i notcied there is a whole new staff... tanesha and gincene are great. (not sure of name spelling‍)Today was no different than any other time. Great service! Absolutely no wait... which is A plus because in the past I have waited a long time... I don't think it was the previous staff either, it just can get really busy in there so do come early. Whenever we need a rental or our car is in the shop we come here. There are never any hidden fees.. just don't be cheap and purchase insurance because u never know. I never had a problem at this location until today. This idiot Chris wanted to act like I damaged their car when I didn't. Acting like the car belonged to him. Turned out that he was completely wrong the damage on the vehicle was there to begin with. He proceeds to threaten me that he will make a claim against my insurance. Completely inconvenienced me today. I reported him to Corporate Headquarters and I hope they actually do something about this fool. read more
