This was actually in January, but I forgot to post this review. We rented a van one-way to go from Lafayette to Charlotte and it was available when we arrived. The main negative is that it was freezing cold outside and they wouldn't let anyone in the building. This was both ridiculous and maddening. We were able to return the van smoothly in Charlotte without any issues. However, these folks need to learn a thing or 2 about hospitality. read more

I got rear ended and the crash totaled my beloved beater car. The other driver's insurance company uses Enterprise, so our rental was set up. We got a call at 5:00pm, "Your car is ready." Great! Went in to pick it up the next morning. "Sorry, we don't have any cars, there was a hail storm, we don't have cars in from the airport yet, please come back this afternoon." The obvious issue is don't tell me "your rental is ready" and then say "sorry, we don't have any cars." That's a Major Buzzkill. My spouse worked with Enterprise customer assist via Twitter after the fact to provide feedback. Trust me, Enterprise, the Twitter rant was better than dealing with my spouse in person. You owe me for that save. The location is clean and well-staffed. The employees were courteous. At 8:00am they had five customer service reps up front, and one or two other support staff in the back. Lots of people picking up cars. Just not me. As it turned out, we just skipped the hassle of returning to the Enterprise office altogether. I rearranged my schedule, and that afternoon I was at my preferred independent auto dealer test driving cars and made a purchase. I had planned on looking for two or three days before making a car purchase, but that wasn't in the cards. read more

With existing reservation made over the internet, clerk refused to honor the reservation despite having in excess of twenty cars on the lot, stating that they have 30 plus reservations between 1:00 pm on Saturday and allegedly the following Sunday, when the branch is actually closed for business. I arrived on a Saturday, 15-minutes before they opened I and there was a line forming already. I had made pre-ordered my car through their very easy to use website, which I HIGHLY recommend. By the time I was in the door, there were 6 people behind me. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the online pre-ordering system which helps to streamline your check in, getting you in/out faster. The associate that helped us chose a vehicle was helpful and knowledgeable about both the vehicles and the additional coverage I would need. Side note: If you are in an accident in an Enterprise vehicle, yes your insurance may cover it, depending on your coverage, but most insurance companies will NOT cover the additional "down time" that Enterprise will be YOU for while the car is in the shop and not on the road making money for them. Obviously it is a good idea to cover that expense because their assessment to the vehicle's potential income is a HUGE variable. We chose a vehicle that was what I needed; big trunk, roomy and decent gas mileage, and were on our way. I needed to add an additional day to my contract and when I called the customer service was outstanding. The only complaint I have was the vehicle was not detailed, or at least not cleaned out very well. We found paper under the seats and receipts in the glove box. I can honestly say I returned the vehicle cleaner than I received it. Even with that said, I travel a lot and always rent from Enterprise because I have found over the years that their price and customer service is above and beyond the other rental facilities but this particular Enterprise is even better than "average" Enterprise. read more

We had reservation for car. We spoke to one person said car will be ready to pick up at 2pm then after 30 minutes second person said car won't be available till 5 pm. They promised to car will be delivered to our location at collision repair place but never showed up. Next day morning we called again and they said car won't be available till 2pm again when we said that car was available yesterday so why 2pm now so we got rudely answered 2pm or 5pm if you want it or not. Worse customer service. Never recommend this place. Please use any other company then enterprise. read more

I had a such a wonderful experience here that I made an effort to send along an extra note to corporate. I really felt well taken care of. One instance in particular captures the essence: their regular driver (who takes customers to/from their destinations was already out on a trip so they sent one of their agents to drop me off). Mornings can be busy and hectic but even with two agents assisting other customers, a third agent jumped up from his desk and helped me immediately. Great job! I will be back! read more

Ran into some car trouble on the highway 150 miles from home, about 3 miles from this location. While waiting for AAA to come tow the vehicle, we called enterprise to come get us off the side of I-65. They said they would call us back shortly and let us know when they would be able to get over to us. Over an hour later, no one had come by, and had not called us back to tell us when they would be coming,despite a few calls back to them, so we took a cab over to their location. They were pretty busy, but It would have been nice to get picked up (and save the cab fare) or had a timely return call. They DID reserve the right car for us, and it was clean and comfortable. They offered to reduce some of our fees (for one way drop off) and discounted our gas on the prepay option, even though we didn't complain about the missed ride or ask for any special favors, so I feel they redeemed themselves. read more

Let me preface by saying normally I have EXCELLENT service at Enterprise (I have always gone to the other location in town). I was very disappointed in returning my car this time, however. The rep who helped with the car reservation and pickup was great. Returning the car was a different story... It was very busy, and I understand that can certainly be stressful for the 2 guys who were working the counter. I would have expected someone to at least acknowledge my presence regardless. I stood in the lobby for about 10-15 minutes while other people were waited on just to drop off the keys. Finally, I interrupted to ask if they needed anything other than simply handing over the keys... they didn't. Ok, so if you would have acknowledge me I probably could have saved some time by just giving you the keys and leaving. When I was preparing to leave, there was apparently a fiasco with a previous renter leaving a trunk full of luggage in a car another customer was renting. The rep summoned a staff person from the back to clear out the car. I held the door for this guy, who was incredibly rude and just walked through without even thanking me. Then the younger of the two reps did the same thing... not a thank you. I realize that sounds petty, but it's a huge pet peeve with me... it's common courtesy to at least say "thank you" when someone is courteous enough to stand and hold the door open for you... and I would especially expect it when I am a customer at their business. read more

I rented a car for a weekend trip after my vehicle unexpectedly broke down. All of the staff were very helpful and got me out of there very quickly. I have never seen a bigger group of people with their heads up their butts in my life. I requested a pick up at 0830 and at 0900 someone finally came to get me. I also paid cash for my deposit and was told when I requested cash back that they don't do that. They would have to mail me a check in 5-10 business days. What a crock! I also reported problems with my rental and no one did anything about it. Don't rent from this place if you can help it. Go somewhere else. read more

The customer service at this location is terrible. I reserved a car for 11:00. At 12:00 they still didn't have one ready & had at least five others waiting. Had to rent a car while my car was in the shop for a day. Let me say one thing, the only thing I know about cars is how to put gas in it, however the people at this particular location were amazing! I honestly didn't even know this type of thing existed and I had no idea what to do. The gentleman who helped me when I first got there explained everything so thoroughly that I didn't have any questions. Dropping off was such a breeze and a different gentleman was there when I was dropping off - very friendly. This wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't favorable either. My car was in the shop and I needed a rental for a week. The one manager in training came and picked me up from the shop. She was kind and was good conversation on the ride to their store. However, when I got there it started to feel like I was dealing with used car salesmen. They tried to sell me everything under the sun. They were also didn't catch on quick that I didn't want to spend any extra over what my insurance allotment was. I can't count the number of times I tried to tell them I didn't want to upgrade. Finally, after a multitude of "no's", they got the hint. Then we got around to selecting the car based on what they had available. I requested the one car they had in my price class but the salesman was hellbent on putting me in the shitty Mazda 2. Again, it took more time than it should have for him to just put me in the car I wanted. I don't get why it was a big deal. Both cars were clean, ready to go, and in the same price class. You would've thought that I was asking to get a tahoe for the price of a fiat. After that ordeal was over and they finally got me in a car, I was able to get out of there. On the plus side, the car was clean and well-kept. In hindsight, I should have taken the repair shop's advice and gone with the local Hertz branch. After I rented from here, I found out that I could have gotten a car from the next size up for the same price as what this place charged me for an economy car. If I have to rent from the area again, I will most likely go elsewhere so I can get a nicer car and save the headaches of dealing with the staff here. read more

The lady there is nothing but rude to us. We hold a valid driver license from China. And we got the translation of the license from Purdue. We've successfully rented several cars from other good companies like budget, hertz and we never had problems with that. The lady said she couldn't give us car because we don't have a valid international driver license that with english on it. I nicely told her that the translation from purdue university we gave her is a formal english translation. Then she pointed out the sentences on the translation, it says this paper can not be used to operate any vehicles in Indiana if you don't have a valid international driver license. It's can only used to obtain an Indiana driver license. Then i explained that we do have the valid driver license and we only use this paper as a translation not use it as a license since she said that there's no english on my international license. She insisted that its not valid. We told her that we've rented cars from other companies before, with the same license. She's like "where? If you can rent from other companies then go there" This is RUDE! And this lady, i wanna tell you that gain more knowledge and please understand others' words. Won't even try again! Disappointed. Enterprise was supposed to contact me regarding the rental and to go through the polices/procedures about pick up with me. They NEVER contacted me and then when I went to pick the car up, they told me I had to pay a deposit for it! When I contacted my insurance company, they said that the fee should have been billed to the insurance, not me! They even said that they were trying to get extra money from me along with the bill that they were going to send the insurance company! WHAT A SCAM OF A PLACE! Lucas, the Enterprise guy, was a complete ASS! He said, "so you don't have X amount of money on you then?!" When I refused to pay the deposit. He told me to wait 24 hours and come back with a credit card with X amount of money on it and then he'd give me the car. I will NEVER be using Enterprise again. read more

Just very bad costumer service and judgement by the supervisor today. I rent a car about every week and almost always get great service. This week I picked up a car in Indianapolis and granted it had not been snowing yet in the region so there wasn't a scraper in the car. Today was a huge snow day and I stopped by the local branch here in town to see if I could get a snow scraper, but due to the fact that I didn't rent it from their branch the support at the front desk said no, I asked her to check with her supervisor who agreed with her. Its a national company and I'm one of your customers. How does that make sense!!!! I was supposed to be scheduled for a rental in conjunction with an auto repair with my collision center and my car insurance. Unfortunately after being gone a week on vacation and coming home to drop off the car upon arrival I was told it hadn't been set up. The young lady who took care of my rental had to call both the collision center and the insurance company while I waited to get the go ahead and was redirected to at least three different people before the authorization came through their system. After all this was done, she proceeded to tell me they only had one vehicle available and of course the total amount exceeded the daily allowance from my reimbursement but the only other options were SUVs so I had no choice but to take it. The car was dirty and still had stickers on the windows in the direct line of site and she told me if I had a razor blade I could get the sticky residue of myself. They washed the car, but of course didn't wipe it down so when they gave it to me within minutes it had the same water spots and dirt residue as before. To top it off, it didn't even have a full tank of gas. I think they're way overpriced in comparison to other available rental companies and I would rather deal with one of them, pay up front and get a check from my insurance company later than have to work with them again. read more

Called to make a reservation due to an emergency car repair. Dialed the local number but was transferred to a call center for reservations. The car center rep quoted a rate and I made the reservation. Then was transferred to the local Lafayette, Indiana office to arrange pick-up. The local office had no record of the reservation, so we started the process all over again. Rate quoted was 30% higher. Also, paying with a business debit card required proof of personal residence and bank account? Who does that? I cancelled and rented elsewhere. read more

I have been a loyal Enterprise customer for the last 23 years and have never rented a vehicle from anywhere else during that time. I have never had a problem with Enterprise until Saturday, August 13, 2016. I picked up a minivan at the Pierson Road Enterprise in Flint, MI. It was a delightful experience. They picked me up from my office and drove me to theirs. I rented the van with no problem and everyone was polite. I was told that there would be no problem when I dropped the van off in another state, as this was a one-way rental, getting them to drive me where I needed to go. Well, there was. When I showed up at the McCarty Lane Enterprise office in Lafayette, IN, to drop off the van, I was told I could not have a ride back to my location because it was in West Lafayette, across the river, a distance of six miles. I was told that if I wanted to go to a West Lafayette address, I should have rented from the West Lafayette office, which is located at the airport and closes at noon on Saturday, so that was not an option for me. I was told I would have to get my own ride back. I was told there was a city bus I could take. I was told they would call an uber for me. I was told they were too busy to drive me back. It was only when I asked for a manager and waited over 30 minutes that I got a ride. The driver was pleasant. But everyone else was rude. If they had said to me, "We're really busy, can you wait a while?" I would have been okay with that. If you advertise and promote your company as being different from all others because you will pick me up and drop me off, then you had better do that. Because if you don't, then you are just the same as all the other car rental companies, which is why I have chosen not to rent from them. You are either different or you are not. People at the McCarty Lane office should be ashamed of themselves. This is not how Enterprise presents itself. I recommend that people think twice about doing any business with this location. read more

We could not be happier with our rental experience. From the online reservation to returning the rental car, everything went smoothly with no unpleasant surprises. Most of my career I was an insurance adjuster and dealt with all rental companies (including Enterprise) on a daily basis. So, I have had good & really bad professional experiences & it made me skeptical of all rental companies. Enterprise relieved my anxiety & skepticism. Here is what I think might help others. 1) Online Registration was easy, fast, accurate, and flexible. We changed the category of vehicle prior to pick-up. 2) Easy/Fast Pick-up. The office had all the information we gave them & there were no glitches, mistakes, nothing to clear up. Fast yet thorough explanation of contract. 3) Excellent Customer Service. I am 6' 5" and 230 lbs. I was concerned about fitting and being comfortable after seeing the vehicle they provided. The Rep let me sit down in the vehicle and told me he would do whatever it took to make me satisfied. He didn't argue or engage me in any way. After sitting in the vehicle I did fit. 4) Excellent vehicle. The vehicle was newer, low-mileage, clean, & in excellent mechanical shape. 5) Easy/No Hassle return. I think the entire process to return the vehicle took less than 10 minutes. I can recommend Enterprise with a clear conscience and will definitely rent from them again. read more
