Completely let down by Enterprise. I booked my rental 2 months ago, only to get a phone call 30 minutes before I was to arrive informing me that it was unavailable. I have been renting from them for years, and lately the service is unreliable. I had 6 kids with me who were all looking forward to a road trip TOGETHER to Disney. Instead they offered me 2 separate vehicles at the same price, at a time when gas is almost $5 a gallon, I now have to spend more money on fuel than fun. It is an 11 hour drive and now I have no way to give one driver a break. That puts our safety at risk. Thanks a lot ENTERPRISE. read more

I was in a minor car accident and the person that hit me wanted me to use a repair shop that was in a remote area. I called Enterprise to book the reservation to rent a car. We were in Virginia for a weekend. To roam around Virginia I booked the car online from Enterprise which was at Virginia Airport. After we landed I went to the Enterprise and was greeted by Stephanie on the counter. I told her my name and the reservation id. She checked it and i got the mid size car which was Kia K5. The car was clean and the gas was full. The car looked good for the trip. But the problem with the car was that the gas cover was jammed and i had to pull it to open it. It was tough with the gas especially when filling the gas. read more

My partner and I were t-boned in Raleigh, NC and had to rent a car to get back home to Richmone, Va. The Enterprise in Raleigh upgraded us to an SUV for free as they didn't have any sedans. Unfortunately, the Jeep they gave us was incredibly uncomfortable for my injuries so when we got back to Richmond we went to switch it out for something more comfortable. The Byrd International Airport staff was amazing, especially Andrés (apologies if I spelled that wrong). They only had two vehicles available but he let me sit in both to see which would be more comfortable and very thoughtfully minimized the amount of walking I would have to do on a sprained ankle. He made what could have been a really frustrating experience into something easy. read more

My reservation was for 8am made two days earlier. At 8am car needs to be cleaned so I just sat for 20 minutes while that was done (not a great job, window still hazy). Of course the car only had 3/10 of a tank of gas so I've got to figure that one out on the return. These things are just the result of laziness and poor customer service, which is sad to see these days. We have had the WORST experience ever with this company and particularly this branch. I had reserved a car about 3 weeks prior to a roadtrip me and my husband (both Europeans) wanted to take. I had previously looked up if there could be any issues with paying with debt card as we don't have a physcial mastercard, only a virtual one. It did not show a solution for people being from the EU and not living in the US, but during the reserving process it did not highlight any specifics. After having reserved and gotten my reservation confirmed, I pro-actively called the customer service, describing them in detail our situation and after 3 different calls (as they were not able to solve it at the first either as this scenario - Europeans travelling in the US and doing a trip where we wouldn't give back the car in the same location and with the card situations we had) and finally got the confirmation that if I were to bring my latest paycheck, we would be good. Also about the doubt about not having an INTL driver's license (as they won't give us one in Spain as Spanish driver's license are good all over the world) they told us we were going to be good. Trusting in their word, we then went to the rental place on the day of our rental and that's where the nightmare started: We waited 2 HOURS (!!!!!) trying to resolve the communication issue between Customer Support and their branch as the branch simply would not accept our debit card or the European driver's license and that although we kept calling with Customer Support while we were there, they wrote them an official statmenet that we were good to go from their side, but the branch decided that they would still not give us the car. This meant that we had to miss out on our road trip and lose the Airbnb reservation we had made (lost over 100$) - the only time we'll ever have the chance to see this lovely area as we're not going to come back here. And then to top it off, I was promised to get a call-back or email within the next 2 days to get a compensation for this terrible experience - this is now 18 days ago. I actually even called them again to tell them about the issue and they told me that the branch would email me guaranteed within one week. That has now also been 1 week and nothing. We showed up at the scheduled time and were told they had no vehicles. Our reservation was predicated on the return of a particular vehicle. No attempt was made to locate ANY other vehicle except, oh here is a number you can call to maybe get a vehicle. No apology, no offer to find a vehicle for us. We luckily found one a hertz. No critical thinking, no value of customer whatsoever! There were 20 people behind us. Wonder what they were going to do? We will not do business with enterprise in Richmond again. read more

Yes I understand it was graduation weekend. Yall should have been prepared. I had my reservation months in advance. Why have I never rented from the airport location before? They're cheaper, have longer hours and tend to be super efficient because they're accustomed to people in a rush. The staff is also very professional. BUT they will definitely charge you by the hour if you return even a few minutes late turning in, lol. read more

The staff is mostly pleasant every time I go here but dang the car selection is the worst. One Monday I flew in, they had two cars to choose from. Neither of which I would ever choose. The next time I flew in, I selected a full size SUV when I reserved and they tried to give me a mini van. All of the cars I have received had had high mileage and seem very worn. For the amount you pay for rental cars I think enterprise/National could do better. I wish enterprise operated more like their sister company, National. My company doesn't allow National anymore :( ugghhh I miss them! Finding the rental car place is easy, no bus or tram needed. Walk out of the terminal and you'll be directed either main floor or up an escalator depending on who you're renting with. Do not use Enterprise in Mechanicsville Va. Absolute worst location. On more than one occasion, on the day of pickup, I have received a call saying "Sorry we don't have any cars available." This is after a reservation was made more than two weeks in advance. Either you are a rental car company that allows reservations or you're not. Poorly managed location. On November 8, 2019, I booked a "Ford Edge or Similar" and a car seat as I was traveling w/my One year old son. On Thanksgiving Day we paid for our vehicle and headed to the rental garage to get our vehicle. When we got down there I was told they only had a Dodge Ram or a Ford Mustang but no more car seats. A car without a car seat was completely useless when I had a one year old with me. This left us with NO means of transportation. STAY AWAY FROM ENTERPRISE 4701 W. BROAD STREET RICHMOND, VA I reserved a car from Enterprise on October 14, 2023, to pick up today for my trip out of town on October 21, 2023. I called the location to inform them that I was on my way in a Lyft. Unfortunately, enroute to Enterprise, they informed me that they didn't have a vehicle available because it is homecoming for Virginia Union. Well I am an alum too. They claimed that they had called me. However, this was a lie as they called my old number instead of the updated one on my reservation. I checked my call log and there was no call from Enterprise. My updated number is on the reservation. I spoke to the manager and expressed my disappointment in their poor customer service. I had made a reservation a week ago, on October 14. She has a "smart at the mouth" attitude stating "when Enterprise call you should answer the phone." Her comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. I have report her to corporate and expect to be reimburse for my Lyft ride that cost me $12 for nothing. This is the second time they have done this to me. Next incident takes the cake rented a vehicle for 2 days 2019 Ford 150 it broke down over heated on second day on the New Jersey turnpike! With full coverage because it's a private highway we were told by enterprise to pay for the 225 tow and they would refund us with no issue. Absolutely did not happen we have been calling for 2 weeks getting the run around no one has reached we are being told the regional manager is suppose to call us NEVER HAPPENED. Save yourself from being in a major accident rent from a company who cares about the safety of there patrons. Also the ford 150 2019 is on a safety recall for the reason as we broke down! On May 19th we rented a vehicle. We had mechanical issues the same day and we had to return it for another suv. We met Brandon when we check in after a very long flight and he was very nice and had excellent customer service. When we had to return the vehicle the next day Brandon was there to meet us and quickly resolved our issue with an immediate replacement. This service was definitely above and beyond. read more

After I turned in my rental car at Hertz I followed the hash marked walkway to the terminal. It lead behind a row of Enterprise vans and Jeep's. Enterprise had all of the tailgates open almost hit my head on one of the vans hatchbacks and a keep had its swinging back doors open, leaving ~2' clearance between it and the wall. I would give the 4713 W. Broad St. location 10 stars if possible. Bonita at the reception area went the extra 10 miles out of her way to help me. I lost my cell phone earlier and she helped contact my insurance company and the insurance company of the driver who damaged my vehicle. She would not stop until the matter was resolved and her professionalism really made me a life long customer of Enterprise in the future. A very clean reception area, exceptionally clean cars and detailed attention to everyone who walks in the door. I drove an electric Volvo for the first time and was really impressed with everything about it. No gas required when I return it. A super nice experience. read more

I travel a lot for business and normally I'm quite pleased with Enterprise for my rentals. The company usually hires bright and customer-friendly staff who take steps to make the pick-up process a quick and pleasant one. But when I flew into RIC on 4/25/2022, I had a very different experience. I went to the rental counter in the airport and stood in line for quite some time before I was called up, even though there were only two customers ahead of me. OK, that's normal. I was then sort of surprised that I had to give all sorts of personal info again that was already on the reservation confirmation I received from the corporate website. OK, that's probably a corporate glitch. But I can still remember the clerk telling me that all I needed to do was to go to the garage and grab my keys. Happy to hear that this would be quick as the line and the info dump took more time than expected, I trotted off to the garage. There I found a line of clearly unhappy customers but I had no idea of why they were there. I just assumed that they weren't as smart as I was to check-in at the counter inside the terminal. There was a guy inside the booth talking to someone, but no sign or anything else to explain what I was supposed to do to be able to "grab my keys". I waited until they were finished talking, presented my paperwork, and expected to get the aforementioned keys and be on my way to my appointment. Wrong. The guy informed me that I would have to queue up behind the 10 customers who looked pretty silly standing all by themselves in the parking lot. I explained that I had already checked in and needed only to grab the keys, but that didn't count. So for the next 25 minutes I stood in my second Enterprise line of the day. What helped pass the time was the incredible sight of a Enterprise agent walking slowly back from the far end of the lot, taking the next customer in line, and then walking slowly with the customer to the car which was, of course, all the way at the far end of the lot. While there, the agent would engage the customer in a lengthy conversation that was largely consumed with trying to entice the customer to buy coverages and options that the customer had already waived off at the terminal counter. Then the agent would walk slowly around the car, chit chat more with the customer, then walk slowly all the way back from the far end of the garage, stop and chat with a fellow agent, then grab the next customer. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat... Though I saw many agents scurrying around, apparently only this one agent was deemed worthy of vehicle hand-off duties. I finally got an agent (a different one) to take me to my vehicle. We start doing the upsell dance and I declined, which I think didn't make for the beginnings of a friendly relationship. Given the time constraints, I took out my cell and started snapping photos of the vehicle body so that I'd have some proof of the condition when delivered. Pretty standard stuff. Because of a previous rental when such pictures were dismissed by the agency (not Enterprise) as being taken after I had damaged the car, my standard practice is to make sure an employee was at least partly in one of the photos with the vehicle I'm about to pick up. This agent took incredible offense to that shot, asking rhetorically if he had given me permission to take a photo of him and then answering his own question that he had not. I apologized and said I didn't mean any insult but that I would delete the offending photo right before his eyes. I did so to diffuse the situation because he was very upset (maybe he's in a witness protection program?) and I just wanted to get the hell out of there, but it would have been a more pleasant experience if he just asked me politely to refrain from photographing him and would I please delete the photo? This was my first time renting with Enterprise and I won't be recommending them anytime soon. It's great that they don't charge a full extra day if you have the car for 25 hours. BUT... What's the point of a loyalty program if I can't get an expedited pickup? This one is on me though for not reading about the program. But waiting in line for 20+ minutes because there's only one guy manning the phones and checking out cars is pretty poor. What really killed my Enterprise experience though is when I dropped off the minivan. I pulled up into the usual line and was ready to walk away like any other rental spot. The lone employee handling the returns asked me to park the car for her. What??? Backing up a minivan into a narrow garage spot was the last thing I wanted to do at the end of a long work day. If she was hotter and I was a guy, maybe I would've parked it for her. Instead, I let her know that I was afraid that I'd get a ding so it'd be better if she parked it. Is a two star review harsh? No because I've experienced better at a far lower price. Tips: - Don't go straight to the garage. You need to check in at the understaffed desk in the baggage claim area. - Don't rent a Garmin unit out there. The Garmin never connected so I needed one of my coworkers to navigate through her iPhone. read more

I'm writing to tell the World not to rent from Enterprise Richmond Airport. I had a long standing rental reservation with them for Sept. 19th. When I arrived I was told "sorry we have no more cars". Many other folks were in line as well, whose reservations had not been honored. I had to go across the hall to Budget where I ended up having to settle for a car which was $400 more than my Enterprise reservation. I've tried to call this airport Enterprise facility numerous times but no one answers. I've called Enterprise Headquarters & cannot speak to a manager who can make this right for me. My problem with THIS Enterprise location despite having later hours....NO one-way rentals. I went to the counter and waited while in line for 20+ minutes behind 4 other customers cause there was only one guy. Plus I had to pee but I was by myself so I could not get out of line for fear of losing my spot. It sucked. But they were the only ones that were busy so I guess that means that they have the best prices in Richmond. So I was willing to wait 20 minutes to save over $100.00. I got a great car getting it and checking it back in was easy. They also provided me with a good map of the area. I will use them again if the price is right. I was in Richmond on my way to a conference at Montpelier (Madison's estate). So I needed a car. I had done this trip before and it was great then too. Made the reservation online, got the car I wanted at a fair price. It was ready when I got in, and I was out in a short time. When I returned the car I mentioned that the car model had issues with its AC, but nothing too much. The woman checking me immediately gave me a discount for that. So it was what I wanted the way I wanted it. I will use them again - but I always use Enterprise. read more

I always receive 5-star service from Enterprise as they go out of their way to make sure that their customers are taken care of. This facility was no different from the rest as they made sure that I was happy with the vehicle I was getting and made the process quick and simple for me. I will definitely rent from this facility again when I am back in Richmond. One concern for some people may be that the car I received smelled like it had been smoked in before. For some people this may be an issue and I did not notice any "no smoking" stickers or signs in the vehicle which leads me to believe that this location allows smoking in the vehicles. read more

I'll preface this review that I normally a) don't rent from Enterprise and b) don't rent from my home airport, but this was a great experience all the way around! For this particular rental, I needed a large for a family road trip to Florida, so I was looking for either a full-size SUV or possibly a minivan with unlimited mileage. I have a Hertz Gold Membership through my employer and consequently use them for most rentals, but for some reason their rates for minivans and full-size SUVs (even with a corporate discount) were ASTRONOMICAL!!!! Sure, they'll give you a Jeep Liberty for a good rate, but let's be honest -- I have more room in my Altima than there is in a Liberty. So that was a no go. As I started to shop around, Enterprise had pretty competitive rates with Dollar and Alamo, but what finally sold me on picking Enterprise was their USAA member pricing. Not only did I get a weekly rate that ended up being almost $200 cheaper than the competition, but they also gave me a 5% discount off the top! Winning! Pick Up and Drop off were both a breeze; I was in and out for each in less than 15 mins. Unintentionally, I arrived at the counter in the terminal in between flight arrivals, so I was served fairly quickly with almost no wait. That said, in just the time it took to service me, there were easily 10 people behind me as I walked to pick up my rental. Something to keep in mind for potential future rentals. I ended up with a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country with less than 200 miles on it, complete with SiriusXM Satellite Radio and a drop-down DVD player for the kids! Drop off was equally easy; quick walk-around and I was gone! The most difficult part here was navigating the confusing and winding roads surrounding RIC to get to Rental Car Return. The only pain point here and primary detractor from 5 Stars is that this rental rate was ONLY good at the Richmond International Airport location; all of the local locations were at least 50% more expensive than the RIC rate (particularly frustrating when there were 3 locations much closer to my house). Other than that, this was the perfect combination of painless and a good value! While I will still check Hertz first, I now have a proven fallback plan with Enterprise. read more

Enterprise kept asking me to write this review, I was at work and a Invoice came in my email for a Car rental in Richmond, I have never been to richmond. I proceeded to call the corporate office and to my amazement, they could not help me. I then proceeded to try calling the Richmond location for 5 hours over 3 days and never got through. After the first 6 hours I cancelled my credit card due to the fact that this reservation was made through another travel agency and not our own.
