**Do NOT go to this location**. If there were a way to fire someone, just from being a customer, I would in a second. There is a short older white guy with glasses and a moustache that has the attitude of a toddler. He will not help you in any way. In fact, he will go out of his way to not help you. I hope someone above him sees this so they will know who they truly hired. I left without causing a scene because then I would be on his level. Anthony is terrible ... He was not even helping me and adding his 2 cents and did it too all the other customers when he still had a His hat and scarf on and drinking coffee . He needs to learn customer service skills . When he needs to call a manager about something he leaves the floor and shuts door with phone why can't the customer hear what he is saying . I usually rent from this place to the three times a year I had a major issue over the availability of a new Tahoe. I wanted to test drive one for the weekend to decide if I wanted to buy a new one and was told I was not able to rent any of the four Tahoe's that were sitting in the lot. They told me that they were spoken for by premium members. Well the weekend came and went and all for Tahoe's never moved from their spots. My second gripe with this particular location is the condition of the cars themselves. They do a nice job washing the outside but the inside of these cars on most of the time filthy and disgusting! The filthy customers that rent these cause from this location spill food and soda all over the interior because after all it's not their car and the people who work here do not even care about cleaning these cars properly. The last time I rented a car me and my wife actually got sick probably because the last person had the flu and a hacked and coughed all over the place! this place charged me with rental fee instead of the car insurance of the person who hit my car. The indian guy lied to me and messed up everything. he did not input the other insurance for the claim. Now im left with fixing the claim to get my money back. I called him and he hang up on me without respect. i went to there shop he was there he completely ignored me while i was speaking to him and he spoke to the other customer. i dont recomment this place . stay away read more

On the day we went to pick it up they told us they didn't have the car but gave us a different one instead. Terrible experience. Called at 5pm to see if they had any small to midsize sedans I could switch into from the monstrous SUV I was given (had no choice at the time). I volunteered my name and information to the sales associate Kendrick, who opted not to take any information down. That should have been my first warning. I was told there was a Toyota Corolla available and he would hold it for me so long as I came in before closing at 6pm. I promptly then called the Island Park location which was also holding a vehicle (Hyundai Sonata) so they could free it up for a needy patron because Island Park was in the opposite direction I needed to travel home. Big mistake! When I got to West Hempstead at just past 5:30, another customer was inside signing paper work for the vehicle that was supposed to reserved for me. I was told this customer took precedence as he was (1) already at the location and (2) had issues with his current rental (as did I, mind you). Unfortunately this was not my ONLY bad experience with Enterprise during the day. I had traveled to 3 separate locations (Hempstead, RVC and Freeport) earlier that morning as the reps refused to disclose information about which vehicles were available in the lot. I was told that they would give me a call as soon as a car appropriate for my needs turned up but that was not the case. Anyway, that's still not nearly as great as an offense as the incompetent and inconsiderate employee Kendrick at West Hempstead who wasted my time needlessly. read more

I had the same experience as Cindy and Ashley. I had an appointment for a compact car and they didn't have any. Only mid size and up. They wanted to charge me more for the mid size. They also wanted to hold $350.00 for a 1 day rental. I also went to use my debit card which had more available credit than my credit card at the time. They wanted me to print out my pay check and utility bill. Really? This is horrible! I was stuck in a bad part of Hempstead and I wanted to go home. Needless to say I called for a ride. That was way too much hassle. I am just annoyed that Alamo is not around this area. They treat you very well. read more

DO NOT RENT, I REPEAT, DO NOT RENT!!! If you do decide to rent from here make sure you take pictures of the car before you leave the lot, and have the sales rep document ALL damage on the car even if it's less than 6 inches. I rented a car from here. The rep took me outside to look at my rental, and told me any damages more than 6 inches needed to be documented. I showed her minor damage on the passenger side and she said it's fine. When I returned the rental the branch manager blamed the damage on me (mind you the damage on the car was less than 6 inches and seem like normal wear n tare). Also, when I received the car it was dirty, had no gas, and smelled. The branch manager had the audacity to tell me since I had accidental coverage on the car that it's okay and that enterprise will take care of it. The personnel were very polite and helpful. However, the car left a lot to be desired. I was given a car with half a tank of gas - very difficult to judge how much to replace. When the emergency light went on, I was told it was a natural thing for tires during transitional weather changes and not to worry. The garage found two of the tires down slightly and the third down a lot. Lastly, the inside of the windshield had not been cleaned of previous renters who had put up the phone holders. read more

I rented a car for a week and when I came back to rent it for an additional week, the general manager Nicole at west Hempstead enterprise pressured me to add more stuff to the car for additional cost but I declined. She raised the price to rent same car by $350 for the week. Stated she was instructed by her supervisor to do so but when I called the corporate office they told me it was a lie. While I was there, an other guest and me noticed that she was giving out prices that was convenient for her while not following company policies. The next day I told my friend to rent out the same car to see what happens and she charged her the original lower price they charged me for the first week. Worst customer service I have experienced with Enterprise. Made reservation online for a double upgrade the price was about $80. When I showed up only did not have full size car available since they read reservation wrong. Finally found car at another location , they then tried to charge my credit card for a deposit of $350 on a rental of under $100. They told me this was standard policy, in my experience at other locations they take the cost of the rental. Needless to say I did not rent from this location. had to rent a car after having an accident. We called the night before and had a car reserved. When we went in they said they had no cars (its all you do ..how do you not have any cars?? its like Dunking donuts saying they have no donuts or coffee!) As we were leaving they said they had one just come in. We had no choice my son needed the car the next day for work. The car was so dirty and disgusting and they wanted to charge us more money to put him as a driver!. Thank goodness we have a good insurance company and they told us we don't need their insurance we are covered through our company and since my son is on our policy he is covered to. There was no manage there (i hear they lose managers) so the kids are running it. Never again and our body shop was mad because they recommend their customers to them. Staff was polite. I reserved an economy car four days ahead of time. When I arrived, they weren't that busy but it took them 45 minutes to get to me, which didn't bother me much, but the employee to customer ratio should have allowed quicker access. The car was being cleaned, seeing Nicole vaccum out the car under the hot son while wearing a business suit made me feel bad so I offered to take the car as is. She declined and continued to clean. Minutes later (My guess is she was sweating too much) she offered to upgrade me to another one of the vehicles at the original rate. I declined and told her she can leave the car as is or I can wait patiently for her to finish cleaning. She politely insisted that I take the upgrade. Five days later I return the rental and get charged 30 dollars more per day than the original rate. I was referred back to Nice who never called me back. Called her the next day and she said it's taken care of. It's been two days and still nothing. I'm going to give them until the Tuesday after labor day before I reach out to that location's general manager. I won't be going their again when I want to rent for my frequent road trips. read more

They have always (over about 3 years) handled us with courtesy. They say up front that usually a specific make/model cannot be guaranteed. After a decade with a former employer who contracted with Avis, it appears true. Though the staff strives to give me the category desired, or a free upgrade if possible, to make things right. Yes, the interior cleaning is not usually complete. When I ask about this the response has been an offer to improve it, but I don't choose to do so b/c I am often in a rush, and not perfectly neat myself. To those customers who question the issues for providing a paystub, or a utility bill, understand that this is security especially when using a debit card (which can be stolen.) it is no surprise as they post rental information in the office in the customer area. Even very frequent customers would provide required documentation. I strongly recommend that anyone join their membership program. Points toward free rental days add up quickly, and it can make reservation of a particular vehicle somewhat more likely. True with staff rotation and episodic high customer flow, not every staff member knows every detail. Best to get the name of the rep who helps you and if concerns arise, ask to speak with a manager. Overall, good experiences with rentals personally and with corporate contract. When I had a complaint, it was addressed. read more
