Four years later and Entrecote is still holding up well for the times I've gone back. Last night my fiance and I went here to celebrate our engagement anniversary and they were so attentive and made it feel special. We went on a Monday so it was a little quiet, which made for great ambiance to have some meaningful conversations (with a dash of wedding planning lol). The space is still moody and I really like the setup and location of the bar. Our appetizer was their duck tacos and it was light and refreshing with a fun combination of mixtures. They come in an order of three or four so that's pretty nice. We were both in the mood for steaks so we ordered two variations and both cuts were done super well. I had mine ordered as medium and wished it was a little more pink but def not complaining. Our sides were carb friendly and I upgraded for an extra $10 to their truffle parmesan fries, and my fiance had their cheesy potatoes. One highlight was their entrecote sauce which is very earthy and light with plenty of herbs in the mix. Now what really made it special was the staff bringing out a plated dessert with chocolate sauce spelling out Happy Anniversary and two glasses of champagne. This restaurant is very dark, which almost gives club vibes. The brightest thing in the restaurant is their drinks menu which literally lights up. The service is great, our waiter was new but very sweet and attentive. As far as food, it is over priced and felt like it was not worth it for me. The sea bass dish was delicious. Unfortunately, I did not order that dish, my husband did. I ordered the lamb and subbed the potatoes for Risotto. The risotto was extremely salty to the point that it was inedible. I decided to get the potatoes instead of a risotto replacement, which were okay. I ended up being charged the full price of the risotto added on to the dish that I had which was $18 added onto $58. I was not happy about that as I was not informed that I would be charged extra to substitute the side. This was my first time at Entrecôte in El Paso. We don't live here (yet) but we like the city in general and have family there. After a long day dealing with family stuff, we were looking for a good place to enjoy an early dinner. We found Entrecôte by accident while cruising on Mesa. I told my wife, oh a French restaurant, that's french for ribeye (more or less), let's try it. Did I mention I was French :-) ? Anyhow, the place is very cute, and the service is excellent. They really try their best to help you. I did have a chat with the staff to tell them about some french specific tips, and they appreciated it. The food was okay, but the service was not very welcoming. I ate here with family and friends a year ago. The host couldn't find the reservation and then treated the group like they didn't even belong there (racist? prejudice?). I arrived late, but this was what I was told. I had a great night at this establishment. I love that you can make reservations online. The ambience is very nice, so is the menu. It was an anniversary dinner and the restaurant brought out surprise bubbly and sparkles. It was such a nice touch. Overall I've enjoyed the service- all the staff were very friendly and attentive. Roasted corn you can skip on it was not good. Shrimp cocktail was fine if you are okay with it being more vinegar heavy. only thing that was memorable was the tomato crab bisque and truffle fries. The place didn't wow me but i was willing to come back and give it a second shot. What steers me away from coming back is that they charged each person in my table $10 for bottled water even though we stated we never ordered bottled water. We've been coming to Entrecote for our anniversary every year for the past four years, and the food has always been amazing. Unfortunately, this year was a letdown. The dishes lacked flavor and desperately needed some seasoning or salt. First, my apologies for only one picture, the steak pics didn't turn out but also, there's no way on God's desert earth that a picture could in any way portray our evening's meal. Sometimes you're like wth, I feel like spending $300 on food and wine, and well, we did. We sat at the bar bc we are bar people; this would probably have been a time to sit at a table. The bar tender was sweet, made excellent drinks, and took very good care of us, but I do suspect the table staff knew more about the food offerings. However, we just adored this night. After nights and weeks inside, we needed out. This was the exact cure we needed. The scallops in chardonnay butter sauce---dude. We literally looked around the room and then quickly locked up all the sauce. Im an East Coast scallop snob. These were not only on par but beyond. Cleaned well, fresh tasting and well, the preparation was divine. $24 for 2 bites each, WORTH IT. Then the steak. Let's deviate a sec to the damn tomatoe, which was stupid good. Then I'll get to the steak. It was what you dream of. Ive had excellent steaks in this city and didn't think I'd get any better than West Texas Chophouse but this was, as the price suggests, better. Mid rare with lightly crusty bits and then cut with a fork steak. We also ordered the au poivre  sauce. It wasn't what you'd expect but now their au poivre is indeed what bar I will set for others. The dessert was, sadly lack luster. The creme Brule sagged instead of snapped, the maccaron was definitely frozen, but it wasn't the creme Brule that we went for. It was the night. The night was full of excellent wine (2016 St Emillion at an excellent price,) the unending joy of the steak and scallops, the perfect sazerac and blue cheese olive martini for my wife to kick off our evening, and the general wonderment of being taken care of and not having to do dishes. 2021 here we come! TLDR: Came here before, decided to give it another chance. Decent food, weird service, and definitely not COVID compliant. Went here with my SO and we both agreed it was not worth the price. 1. Food was decent (excellent fries!). We got the Paris Menu for 2 (3 courses) since it was a better deal. The wording on the menu was just very confusing to where the server even had to go and confirm, because they weren't sure. 2. Another party was seated right next to us and when we asked to move seats, the server explained that the other tables were already reserved (which were definitely not 6ft apart either) so we couldn't move. Despite us saying that this was more of a legal issue, they insisted that we couldn't move. They did go check again and stated that we could move because the party wouldn't be arriving until later. The indoor area was definitely overcrowded and many parties were seated too close to each other (about 3ft apart). 3. They overcharged us and when we pointed it out, the server stated that it was just how it came out when they inputted the meal. Not sure how it was acceptable that he acknowledged that he knew it was an overcharge from the beginning but didn't take it off until we pointed it out. There were a couple of other things (irregular mask usage of staff, awkward bringing of dessert before the main course was done, they were almost at full capacity which was definitely not okay), but those were the core issues. read more

Made reservations for me and my wife there for our 17th wedding anniversary. Considering the restaurant was practically empty we expected to be seated somewhere more intimate and not next to a table of businessmen in the middle of the restaurant. I checked with the waitress to ensure she knew our occasion for dining there that evening and she replied "yeah I seen something about that in the reservation notes". Like many other elegant restaurants we have celebrated at in the past we were hoping to receive any type of decorative plate acknowledging our anniversary, that never happened. We went to Entrecôte on a Saturday night around 6:30pm. It wasn't totally packed, but I still am glad we had a reservation. The restaurant itself is really nicely decorated and very cute. Staff was very attentive and professional while being personable. Drinks were okay. Food was good! I ordered a filet and fingerling potatoes, which were delicious. The corn was a little too heavy on the truffle, but still yummy. Would recommend for a date night or to celebrate an event! read more

**DO NOT GO HERE** The owner Olivier is an absolute crook. They charged my card a $225 cancellation fee for CHANGING my reservation from 9:15p to 10:15p and then I received an email stating my reservation was cancelled by the restaurant. THEN they tried to say that I cancelled the reservation when I have proof that THEY cancelled my reservation. The manager Oscar has no say at what happens at this restaurant. He has to pass everything through Olivier, who doesn't return phone calls or text messages. They do not have a cancellation policy on their website or on opentable. The manager even said, they do not have a cancellation policy so he didn't know why I was charged but the owner said to do it! read more

Came here on Valentine's Day. I think they're normally closed on Mondays but they were open for the holiday. We initially wanted to try the $160 couple meal, but decided to get our own entrees and share a starter. Scallops - they come as either 3 or 4. We got 3, and the presentation was great. On a shell, covered in what I presume is a cheese sauce. The sauce I wasn't so crazy about but the scallop itself was great. Well seasoned. Chateaubriand - very flavorful steak and the mushrooms were well prepared. Short rib - delicious. The reduction was fantastic and the meat fell right off the bone. Will definitely be recommending this dish. The pomme side was great as well. Didn't try dessert because we had something waiting at home, but it will be sure to try dessert next time read more

I'm giving it two stars because I think it can be fixed. Everything we ordered was smothered in globs of dressing or sauce, and it was really too bad because my salmon was cooked perfectly but you couldn't really taste it because it came with buckets of cheese gravy on top. So did the salad and my wife's fish. I know it's called creamed spinach but usually there's at least equal parts spinach and this was like one handful of spinach swimming in cream soup. For an appetizer, two entrees and two cocktails if we pay $300 we wanna know we enjoyed the food. I think if you ask for the sauces and dressing on the side or simply order something that doesn't come with any sauces you'll likely enjoy your food. Although the table left of us sent a meat dish back and we didn't know why. This chef is likely really good. They don't need to drown their food in sauce it's not Chili's. Put the sauce under the meat/fish or on some potatoes and let your food speak for itself. I bet it would have been really tasty without all that. read more

In search of a new date night place to sink our teeth into, we journeyed our way once again to the great North Mesa where pretty much everything seems to be located these days. Since we didn't exactly feel like prostrating our wallets to the fine dining prices of Mesa Street Grill (this time), we decided it was time to go an adventure. After trolling through my bookmarks, I came across this little gem which I had nearly forgotten I had bookmarked all those months ago. Walking in, the decorum immediately impresses. There's this transparent glass floor display I can only describe as....an aquarium after a drought. Unusual? Ironic? Who cares? I dig it! We originally had our stomachs set on the bone-in rib eye. Then, my wife (being the better half that she is) pointed out a surf n' turf for 2 which included said rib eye, all for the very fair price of $94. It was an offer we couldn't refuse. So, we ordered it. But before I can get to the main course with all its fixins, we must discuss the appetizers of the evening real quick. The onion soup was alright, but had a sweet taste to it I wouldn't expect in a typical onion soup. Perhaps they used sweet onions. Whatever the case, I've had better, but this was certainly not the worst. And the baguette was a nice touch. 7 out 10 for me. I also tried some of the Caesar salad. This one was okay, too...but semi-forgettable. To be honest, I should have written this review 5 days ago. As it is, I barely remember much about the salad. So, this one gets a 6 out of 10. Now, onto the star of the show: the rib eye. This thing was seared perfectly! You could tell they used a grill. The seasoning was decent, but there was one minor problem. We ordered the steak medium. Sadly, this beast came back mid-rare; we had to send it back. Upon re-fire, it was fine. 8 out of 10. We also tried the truffle fries, roasted tomatoes, scallop au gratin and the lobster tail. The fries were amazing, the tomatoes were alright, the scallops tasted like an orgasm in my mouth with this....special creme fraiche white wine shallot butter sauce (ch'yeah, try saying THAT 3 times fast!) that was on them. But that lobster tail....stole...the....show! Remember that delicious creme fraiche sauce I mentioned earlier? Well, not only did this lobster tail taste like heaven on a plate; the sauce in combination only augmented the awesomeness that is lobster! I wanted to stand on the roof top of this place and shout, "GET ON THIS LEVEL, N MESA!!" to all the other competing steakhouses within earshot. I guess what I'm saying is this combination of seafood delectation makes you wanna slap yo' mama (but seriously...don't, DON'T do that. please). All things considered, I would absolutely return here for lunch or dinner. Kind of curious what a burger would taste like from here. Who would have thought a French restaurant in El Paso! Total hidden treasure! Escargot, Green mussels from New Zealand, duck confit, perfectly paired with side salad and bread for dipping in the sauces... I could not think of a more delicious combination. Only lost a star because we tried the passion fruit mousse which had a weird texture and even more super sweet flavor, the sugar took over all flavor. We dined here on May 2 for our anniversary. We have eaten here multiple times and always had great service, very nice appetizers and entrees. We were seated immediately and I ordered a Mexican Martini. It was perfect and just like I remembered from my years in Austin. We also enjoyed Moules Frites and Escargot. They were perfect. We ordered the seafood pasta entree and the Australian Lamb Chops, medium rare. The pasta dish was very nice with plenty of seafood. The lamb chop presentation was lovely but they were raw and impossible to cut with a steak knife. I never send back food, but...this was not edible. Our waiter was wonderful and apologized. The chops returned and were cooked perfectly, however so much syrupy sauce was dumped on them as well as the new potatoes and green beans it was a sticky, gooey mess. We were comped one cocktail, but that hardly made up for the disappointment in the entree. The overuse of the sticky sauce could have easily been avoided even after the plate was returned. Will probably go back at some point as this could have been a one-off. Nice decor and great server. They could use some help with the techno canned music. Nice jazz or blues would be lovely. Lovely little restaurant! The food and service were wonderful. I had the duck foie gras as a first course, which was flavorful. My main was the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served with sea scallops and two over-sized prawns. The bass was perfectly cooked, with a slightly crunchy exterior and wonderfully flakey and moist inside. The sauce really added to the dish. I would give ZERO stars but then I wouldn't be able to write this review . I have always always enjoyed Entrecôte as they were the very few restaurants that got the temperature right for steaks. Tonight was so incredibly DISAPPOINTING. Yes they gave us a heads up that their chef was running late and orders would be delayed. We accepted this as we weren't in a hurry. What we didn't realize was that the 'chef' would royally f**** up a steak when you ask for very medium rare....it came out medium to well done. They tried to make amends by offering a free dessert..umm...NO. Look I get that times are hard with getting service help but then just close for the night...why risk pissing off peeps that loved your restaurant. read more

Server was good, but food was horrible!! Undoubtedly, some of the worst steaks we have ever had. They didn't have much flavor, weren't tender, and were only warm when brought out. They weren't overly busy, so there wasn't a good excuse for several items not being hot. As a matter of fact, their Chateaubriand, which is one of their signature dishes, was the worst I've ever had! Being a French restaurant, you wound think their French Onion soup would be great, it was just okay. The only item that was good was their Crème Brûlée. I can say the decor was fairly nice. French onion soup was salty, the presentation of the stake was with a lumpy sauce on top (besides it was room temperature), the drinks were good but no Bellinis for sure, even the napkins had a strong greasy smell .. but the most disappointing was the crème brûlée, what is suppose to be the signature dessert! It was cold and had like a jell-o texture. After we paid I let our server aware of our experience and he recommended to speak with the manager, when I explained him the situation he didn't even know what "Bellinis" were, according to him he was very sorry so he took $20 from our check.... My wife and I were looking for a new restaurant to try with an exciting menu and visited this place a few months ago. There are so few French restaurants in El Paso. I was unsure what to expect due to the mixed reviews We made reservations for our dinner ahead of time and were warmly greeted at the door and taken to our table. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and answered our questions. He informed us that the chefs are well-trained and that some have previously worked at Cafe Central. We started out with the escargot and throughly enjoyed it. It was flavorful, tender, and easy to chew. My wife ordered the Duo De Canard. I'm not usually a fan of the flavor of duck but enjoyed this dish. The meat was well seasoned, tender, and the sweetness of the orange glaze complimented the duck well - there was a good balance. Her order came with rice instead of potatoes. I ordered the Les Pates De St Tropez seafood pasta dish. This was also enjoyable. The seasoning was balanced - flavorful but not overpowering. Sometimes these seafood items can be firm/rubbery if overcooked, but this was not the case. The dessert menu looked very interesting. We would have tried a few items if we had not already planned to do a dessert crawl after this meal but will probably give it a try next time we come in. 2 stars for food, 5 stars for ambiance and drinks. We were waiting for a table but never heard back from the host, so continued to sit at the bar area. I tried sirloin and beef tartar. Ordered my steak rate to med-rare, loved the hint of pesto sauce but it was super chewy, fries were inconsistently seasoned, not up to par. Although not such a big fan of entree, beef tartar was very good, loved the caper or the oliver that mixed so well with a quail egg. I loved the ambiance, i would give 5 stars for that. If you want to have a good time, for the gram, yes for the place but for a foodie like me, I would never be here if I had to wait in line to try a good quality food. read more

I then ordered escargot for myself which was pretty good as well. Don't be afraid to try something new! Our main entrees were the lamb chops and duck breast with blood orange glaze. I had a terrific dining experience at Entrecôte recently. A friend & I had the Special. It was Sea Bass on a bed of Asparagus with a delicious white sauce that enhanced the Sea Bass to perfection. Accompanying the Sea Bass were both grilled Shrimp & Sea Scallops. They were both perfectly done. Our waiter Chris was both attentive and helpful. He suggested some wines that complimented the meal and also advised us that it was Happy Hour and our Wine would have a reduced cost. I will consider Entrecôte on my list of Fine Dining in El Paso and look forward to sharing future dining experiences with friends both local and visiting.
