My husband and I visited this restaurant for our anniversary, we had a reservation and were seated immediately after arriving. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, spacious, inviting. The food was all delicious! We had oysters, and the ceviche as a start, which was perfect, and grilled red snapper and octopus as the entree, both were so good. The guava dessert was the cherry on top to an amazing dinner. Our server Santi was spot on with recommendations, great customer service and timing. The prices and servings were both reasonable, overall we had a great experience and will definitely be returning.

Kala is a promising new Baja-Mediterranean restaurant created by three chefs, Carlos Gaytan, Mikel Alonso and Jonathan Gomez with Michelin stars background. The food is eclectic with a fusion inspired touch of a Baja California and Mexican flair. The menu is relatively limited with an emphasis on comfort food. The decor is modern sophisticated with some cool purple lighting at night. The concept is interesting as many students from Southwest University 's Culinary School are cooking providing them with real-time valuable restaurant experience. (I think that this is a very similar concept to L'ecole in Paris for culinary apprentices). Loved their guacamole & Qeso Feta, their Hummus and their Lobster Pasta that was fairly spicy ! Their 20 day Dry-Aged Ribeye was perfectly executed ($78). Service was a little bit on the chaotic side but the restaurant was super full. The menu for certain dishes is on the expensive side for El Paso. So, would love to see some more accessible dishes for students and our community. The food was solid comfort food but it is not at all comparable to a Michelin stars'restaurant. I do hope that this restaurant will expand its menu and fair better than Lola Rose. I plan to come back to provide a more encompassing review as this was a first visit. El Paso let's support this initiative and give our three chefs a graceful accolade and support them!

Went for an early Mother's day, took my significant other. Appetizer was a date stuffed with chorizo and wrapped with bacon...enough said! Service was amazing everything that was brought to the table was explained and served so politely. Drinks were on point. The main course were excellently presented and tasted even better. Desert was tasty and finished with a mazapan coffee dressed with crumbles of mazapan...to die for.

guacamole and pita bread with olives appetizer, with some interesting ingredients that made it more memorable, would easily order again.

The food is amazing but very small portions for the price. Service is phenomenal. Will not be back unfortunately.

The staff is very friendly and attentive. Their menu items are great and have an enjoyable twist. I'm a bit hooked on their guacamole and zucchini fries. I have enjoyed everything I have tried so far. The classic burger is juicy and the beef has a great flavor. The southwest scrambler also had a great blend of flavors. I added bacon strips on the side. It did not disappoint. The flavor of the bacon was a great addition. Everything tastes better with bacon! I was simple with my drink order and had an orange mimosa (several). Great flavor. Makes it difficult to get just one. They do offer other flavors and flights along with many other cocktail choices and beer. I recently tried the steak and eggs, a new menu item. You have options when you order. I ordered mine with scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon (of course), and toast with my medium steak. The eggs were delicious and so fluffy. The flavor of the bacon went so well with the eggs and the potatoes. I like steaks. To me, the flavor of the steak was missing something compared to the rest of the plate. This has been the only time that I have not finished everything on the plate. I'm sure the seasoning of the steak will improve . I'm not saying the flavor was bad making the steak inedible. The flavor was just not to my liking. This does not stop me from returning and I still highly recommend that you stop by. I haven't gotten to the prices! I have been to brunch in many places across the country and in Texas. Sadly, many are disappointing and seem to feel that because it's "brunch" they can over charge for their plates and especially their drinks. I am so glad Nomel does not. The location is not conveniently close to the highway, but it is definitely worth the drive.

After seeing their steak tacos on their website, I ordered them what I got was not the same as the picture. I asked for medium rare it was overcooked. There was hardly any cucumber cabbage slaw. I'm allergic to onion, so didn't try that and they forgot crema. Portions were small. I did like the black beans though, and I thought the tortillas were tasty. My friend ordered the Southwest scrambler and asked for poached eggs instead of scrambled. The server said no substitutes could be made. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery. We thought we would try their $14 chocolate cake. One bite announced it was terrible. We sent it back and they took it off the check. Maybe with a little more time they'll get situated but for now I don't recommend it.

There was a large planter ar the door with one very dead plant. Next to it were two empty beer boxes. Come on, take your garbage to the trash bins. We were seated and our drink order was taken only to be told that they were out the beer we ordered. Then our server came back to tell us they were out of our other beer. We started ordering apps on their happy hour list, 3 out of 8 choices were not available. Then came time for our meals. The signature Calabacita dish was unseasoned and the chicken was dry. Their other signature dish, Shrimp tacos were flavorless. One last thing, we happened to be seated between the entry area and the side dining area, at one point a server came up to our table and apologized for needing to close a curtain partition. It would not have been a problem but it was literally hitting my husband's back. We were sorely disappointed and won't be going back. We always try to support locally owned establishments but we can't recommended STARLITE to anyone. Finally, I will say the staff was very good, it's just a pity that they have to serve inferior food. Also, my Margarita was good. Come on Chef Ruly, do better.
