It's been a while since I stopped by. Back then I went to the other location and they moved to this location now. It's located in the plaza. Free parking and walk upstairs to the 2nd floor. It's located all the way at the end of the hallway. I believe the lady who helped me and my mom is Tracy. She works every Saturday and sits in the front next to the entrance. She is so patient and didn't push us to buy anything we didn't want or need. I can tell she's been doing this for a long time. The waiting time is about 2-3 weeks and we just picked up my moms new glasses today. She's very happy with the quality. Highly suggest Tracy if you're looking for a new pair of glasses! read more

I've been a client here for years, but this year, both their customer service and beside manner went down the drain. My vision has been somewhat abnormal due to a car accident and a history of vertigo. I went in this January as soon as my insurance is good for a new pair of glasses. I specifically requested for Dr. Szeto because she had been my optometrist the past 6 years. I took the time to tell her my story. On the spot, she introduced me to a special type of custom made lenses, saying they're for people like me. However, no insurance will cover for it and it'll cost several thousands of dollars. Of course I opted out. She then said I should get anti-fatigue glasses. I said I've never had such thing and I kept telling her I'm super sensitive and she kept insisting it'll be good for me. Since I have been having so many issues I said ok I'll give it a try. When I got my glasses, they said I'll have to give it at least two weeks to get adjusted to it because the prescription is progressively lower to higher from top to bottom on the lenses. Tried for two weeks, I was so dizzy and nauseous the whole time and it never got any better even when I tried for two weeks. Called Szeto, and she kept saying I have to try longer and blamed my eyes are super sensitive. I said to her, I told you I'm super sensitive and I don't want to feel dizzy because I hated vertigo, so why did you recommend me lenses that will make me dizzy. She couldn't answer me. Took the glasses back to have them remake it back into single vision. There was no refund for the extra cost of the anti-fatigue of course. I asked for the part-time optometrist to recheck my vision. Dr. Chea had way better bedside manner. But when I went to pick up my glasses the second time, it still felt weird. There's a girl named Jennifer who works at the front desk. She yelled out to the other lady who was helping me that I have to try longer because they're new glasses. Pretty horrible attitude. And I've been wearing glasses almost my whole life and I would know if it's not right for me. Asked to see Dr. Chea again she wasn't there and I had to go back in two weeks. When I went back she said I just need to curve it more. And when I was there, Szeto, who is the boss there, saw me and didn't even bother look up. If she couldn't do her job right she shouldn't at least show some concern but nope. All she does is trying to hot sell that thousands of dollars custom-made lenses. Asked the front lady to check if the lab that made my glasses did it right they said yes and won't give me the measurements. Lady said Szeto told her if I don't trust them I can go somewhere else to have it measured. At this point, with the horrible attitude and service, I felt that I've been totally scammed. What an unethical bunch! I did go somewhere else to another optometrist and he carefully checked my glasses. He said who made these? I said the optometrist I've been with but won't go back to. He said the axes are waaaay off centered and too high. I brought my old glasses and he said the new ones are waaay too different than the old one. Now I had to get my glasses remade and having to pay out of pocket. Point is, DO NOT go to Envue here. From the boss to the front girl, they all have pretty bad service and attitudes. They only care for your money and won't even do their due diligence to check on the quality of glasses even if you ask them nicely to. I would give zero star if I could. read more

I've been going to Dr. Szeto for DECADES and I absolutely love her and her staff! I've visited other optometrists when I lived away from LA, but no one seems to have the same level of care and attention that Dr. Szeto provides to her patients. -- Exam -- Dr. Szeto is thorough and attentive and takes your lifestyle into consideration for her best recommendations. Also she has some pretty awesome high tech equipment to make sure she can examine all aspects of your eye. -- Glasses Selection -- Being in the 626, most of Envue's patients are Asian so they make sure variety of Asian fit glasses (which I definitely need!). Most of my family comes here and they have functional options for my grandma and yet stylish options for me. Another thing I love is that when you pick up your glasses, they will adjust them to ensure that the fit is perfect --your focal point is centered, the sides aren't pinching, your nose pads aren't digging into your nose, etc. -- Staff -- The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They also speak a variety of languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin)! It makes me sad that other yelpers have had bad experiences with the staff but we've never had any issues. Overall I highly recommend Envue! They provides thorough exams, a great selection of glasses, and a diverse staff-- can't beat it! read more

BE WARNED DO NOT COME HERE EVER. Let me wave some red flags and blow a whistle. My poisonous b*** of an aunt knows one of the receptionist here so I've been coming here for YEARS. Even after they remodeled and moved. Yep, family loyalty -___-. It's a good thing I switched out though ! I even had to warn my sisters too. BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? All the overcharge reviews, the hike on prices and the DAMAGE TO YOUR EYES are . T R U E . Dr. Szeto has messed with my eyes and my sisters' eyes by giving us higher and higher prescription to our lens and my contacts. Turns out, I do NOT has astigmatism. Yet I've been wearing toric lenses with a HIGHER power for YEARS. She's damaged my eyes beyond belief. I was also told I could have glaucoma from this place when I was 17. SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD. My family has NO history of it and somehow I might?! Unbelievable. After berating my mother for not being able to see the light that is their terrible deception, I switched. My new optometrist asked me who could have misdiagnosed me for YEARS. Not only was my power for my lens lower but I don't have astigmatism nor glaucoma. This place is FRAUD with a capital FRAUD, underlined and BOLDED. Please, please if you don't want your eyes to be crippled like mine, don't ever come here. The receptionist, who's also friends with my horrid relative, is exceptionally condescending and rude. This review is long overdue. I haven't come here for a long time for good reason. All through elementary school, they "helped" me with my glasses. I only came here because of family loyalty. After all the years of dirty looks, unhelpfulness, rudeness, and snarky comments, I became a adult and moved my butt out of there ASAP. Imagine my surprise to find this place still open and in business! I can't imagine anyone wanting to come here and deal with the staff here. To be honest, I don't remember how the doctors here were. But simply due to the front desk ladies, I would not want to come out my way to deal with this place. To top it all off, the last time I came here was to get contact lenses. Now imagine trying to put something in your eye for the first time and remove it with your fingers with very unhelpful instructions from an impatient staff who keeps snickering. Yup! 10/10 for rude staffs here :) In summary, everyone here is judgey and unhelpful. Do your research. (I mean come on, I wouldn't mess with any optometry with less than a 4 Star review lol). A good place to get eye examinations and glasses/contacts. I've been seeing Dr. Szeto for over 10 years and have never had any problems. She has always made the right assessments and recommendations. They moved to a newer office a few months ago and it is a lot bigger and nicer. As another reviewer indicated, the negative reviews here mostly come from a few English-speaking customers who even know what Yelp is. Do not let these reviews deter you from coming here. I have been seeing Dr. Lynn for 20 years. She has always been kind and efficient as is her staff. When my 7 years granddaughter's teacher said she needed glasses I took her in and they saw her the same day. Her teacher sad she had never had a student that was taken are of so promptly. My adult son went there recently and was very impressed. I couldn't be more pleased with all the care I have received since the last century! BTW I live in San Gabriel not San Francisco! read more

This establishment is one of the worst in nature. This was also where I got my first pair of glasses and many more to come, but the staff here doesn't acknowledge good customer service and lacks consistency every time I visit. In 2019, customer service is what keeps your business running. I felt that Dr. Szeto was more artificial and over natural, in terms of conversations and how she treats her patients. Their prices are beyond overwhelming and are not in stance to negotiate prices, regardless of how many times I've purchased my designer glasses with them. They do no not value their customers, so I think to myself, why should I even come back? Think twice before coming here! read more

SHADY! SHADY! SHADY! I've been coming to Dr. Stezo for a few years now to get my glasses and contact lens. They have always charged me $50 fitting fee along with my copay.. I once questioned them saying that my insurance covers the fitting fee, but they claimed that it didn't. As a contact wearer, I complained that my contacts sometimes made my eyes dry. Dr. Stezo said I had astigmatism. So I started spending more on contacts since astigmatism contact lens are pricier. Fast forward 2 years later. They called me to come in for my eye exam, I declined. I went to see another Optometrist over the weekend for my exam. Holy Cow! They said I don't have astigmatism!!!! AND here's the kicker..my insurance DOES COVER my fitting fee. So ENVUE has been taking my $50 fitting fee for years!!!! They do not provide receipts for the fitting fee. That's a red flag in itself!!! Payback is a b**** and I will be reporting you to BBB!!!! read more

I'm not sure what's with the previous reviews, but it seems like the only people who have reviewed this place on yelp are the disgruntled customers. The majority (probably 95% if not more) of the customers I've seen here are Chinese/Vietnamese-speaking and have no command of the English language. If they were able to communicate on Yelp, I can assure you the ratings would be much higher. Otherwise, they wouldn't be booked full of appointments every week, right? Anyway here's my story. I've been coming to Dr. Szeto for 8 years now and I get my prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contacts here. The reason why I continue to come back every year (despite me NOT having any eye coverage on my insurance) is because of the great service and friendly atmosphere. Dr. Szeto is amazing because she always communicates to me what's going on with my vision and answers any questions I may have. Unfortunately for her, I tend to ask many questions since I'm also in the healthcare profession hahah. A great example of their excellent customer service would be the pain and suffering I subjected Dr. Szeto and her staff last year. Without getting into too much detail, my eyes are a bit "unique" and I require specialized contact lenses into order to see clearly. I had to go through roughly 3 different brands of contacts and 5 pairs of contacts before I finally found the brand that worked for my eyes. And for those who purchase contacts, 5 PAIRS of contacts is not cheap...and yet she did NOT charge me for all the wasted lenses. She spent additional time after closing hours (due to my busy schedule) to help me adjust to wearing contacts. This experience, as well as the friendly + professional environment, is why I continue to come back year after year. read more

If you read my other eyeglass post, I had a messed up exam and was wearing the wrong prescription for half a year. I've given this optometry place one star as a reflection of their unprofessional service, or lack of. The store is run by only one optometrist, and I've been a patient of hers since she first opened her original store in the SFV over a decade ago. When I went away to college a few years back, I went to the optometrist at my college since my PPO covered it, but when I returned to this place after completing my degre, I was greeted with some unpleasant remarks. The optometrist didn't realize I had walked in when she was making these comments, nor did she think I can understand Chinese, but I did overhear and did understand. You would expect these small businesses would welcome return business, but obviously they don't value return customers. In addition, they have some shady business practices. I paid by credit card, but they refused to give me a receipt and said my credit card transaction was my receipt. They are not the same. Also, the optometrist failed to mention that my eye exam didn't include my contacts prescription. And if I wanted my contact prescription, I would have to return another day and pay additional, separate fee. ALSO, she didn't want to give me my glasses prescription. So for anyone hoping to use their prescription to order their eye wear needs online, I'm sure you'll encounter a tough time getting it from this place. read more

Why there's no zero star as an option? This is a long over due review but Ke t me tell my story. I went there at the end of year 2009. I did exam and it showed that both my eye sight chnged. Theb I got my glasses at expensive price and they didn't call me that they have it ready till I called two weeks after they got my glasses. Half year later, I did another exam at a famous doctor and it showed that my eyesight never changed! Two days ago, I did another check, my eyesight is still the same. So the result from Envue was ridiculously wrong and cost me several bucks to buy the framed glasses. My bf, first time contacts wearer, got a pair of very bad-quality contacts and it's feeling weird in the eys and hard to out on and off. Back then, we thought its bc if my bf isnt used to wear those so he singly gave up the contacts. Till a couple days ago, he went to another optometric place with me and tried another pair, and thar was totally fine. He got the contacts on off easily and can wear for 8 hours without feeling any weird feeling. So Envue was really giving out crappy unknown contacts. Wrong exam result made me waste several hundred bucks and wear a wrong pair for a year. Lucky it didn't do damage to my eyes. And crappy contacts made my bf give up contacts and got hurt during wearing. And keep suffering the inconvenience of the framed glasses. This place should shut down. I hate place related to health to be so irresponsible and money sucking! read more

I and my other family members have been a patients for 20+ years. The one time I tried another optometrist, it was a horrible experience. I've moved multiple times and I take the time once a year to come back and get a proper exam and fitting here. I don't understand the horrible ratings. My experience at Envue Optometry was superb! The staff was courteous and were able to reasonably accommodate my walk-in request on a fully booked schedule. Dr. Szeto was very knowledgeable and professional. I requested a special eye screening as well, and she was very informative regarding my eye condition. I'm appreciative of their use of current technology to assist in my examination. From a future health professional, I highly recommend Envue. Appointment is recommended! read more

Shady! They'll refuse to give you the prescription and will try to pressure you into buying one of their frames/contact lenses. I went there to get an eye exam but didn't want to buy their frames. They were very reluctant to give me my prescription and the younger of the two receptionists (there's one middle aged one and a younger asian one) kept demanding in a rude tone why I need the prescription. Hello, what I do with my prescription is my damn business. When I kept demanding she give me the prescription, they started to talk with each other in Chinese, making it very obvious they're talking about me. Their behavior toward a customer is vulgar and unprofessional. I'm surprised they don't have more negative reviews on Yelp, but it's understandable as most of their customers are non-English speakers so they might not know how to write Yelp reviews. Beware all the negative reviews on here complaining of their shady practice, they are true. Go find a better service somewhere else and don't waste your money here. read more

I been going there for over 15 years when I went to college and even introduced my family and kids there. Everybody in their office including the Dr. knows us because we do so much business with them every year. Shady businesses? Wasn't really aware of it until I started to think about it. Each year if you get contacts they make you come for an exam even though my prescription has been the same for the last 5 years. If you don't buy the contacts from them, which is 3x more than 1800contacts, they frown upon that and makes ordering difficult. Every year I have to jump through hoops just to get my contacts order outside. What gets me is that my kids even though they are really young and especially the oldest, which two weeks prior to going them, we went to another optometrist and he said my son have the best vision he have ever seen. And two weeks later needed glasses? All my other kids, they push them for glasses. My wife went along and had all the other kids get glasses from them because the dr said so. I finally step in and said no and their response was well eventually sometime in their life they will need it, why not start now. BEWARE. read more

BEWARE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Be careful if you buy your glasses here. I ordered the best coating for my eyeglasses before I left to college. My purchase included anti reflective and uv coating for my lenses. Later, I found out that there was no anti reflective or uv coating added on to the frames at all! I think the optometrist tried to skip out on costs and was hoping that I would not notice. She is so lucky that my college is in another state so I cannot demand an immediate refund!
