Critical: Communication, Professionalism, Quality I found this place on Groupon and booked with Morgan. First impression, clean, friendly and professional- I paid for a full color, shampoo, cut and blow dry. - first thing Morgan said "you only need a root touch up not a full color" I said ok- I'm super easy going and low maintenance plus I'm not a professional in this field so the hair stylist should know best. Then I had asked for deep conditioning due to my hair being dry recently caused by a medication shampoo. She had mentioned paying $25 extra for the treatment and I agreed. Once the color processed we shampoo'd and did the conditioning treatment. Then we were ready for cut and blow dry. She put heat protectant and many different oils, Too many oils I thought. As she is blow drying my hair it was so greasy it wouldn't even move then she tried fixing it with dry shampoo and when I told her it felt greasy she continued to say dry shampoo will fix it when she finished blow drying. And when I told her it was too greasy for the second time she said "I know, I thought your hair was more course but realized when blow drying it that it's actually curly but fine, that was my mistake" but proceeded to tell me "dry shampoo will fix it" I had to ask her to wash it out because it was beyond greasy- nothing was going to fix it and I'm not paying to get my hair done to spend 3 hours on a salon to walk out with hair I would have to wash as soon as I got home bc of how gross it felt. So then she washes it out along with the leave in deep conditioner treatment that I paid an extra $25 and she doesn't reapply it then blow drys my hair then straightens it. Worst salon experience I have ever had. I just wanted to pay and get out of the chair as soon as possible. read more

Took my mother to Envy Salon and Spa to get her hair color done. Her appointment was with Morgan Bartoe. I purchased a Groupon for her as a gift for Mother's Day. All I can say is Morgan was very amateur in her skills. Groupon highly rated her as a skilled beautician. This was not the case! My mom wanted a dark brown hair color. Morgan didn't entertain her wants and said "I don't have time for that". So my mom got her hair colored her original hair color - black, which was not what she wanted. Morgan didn't rinse my moms hair well from the dye and left dye along the hair line from her forehead down to her ears. I asked her to clean it up and she said she used up the last of her alcohol and couldn't But that my mom could rinse it off at home. She was very unprofessional, didn't attend to any my moms request, very lazy, rude, unskilled. Where in the world did she get her training. She is extremely talented but somehow manages to make it look so easy that you don't even realize what is happening and voila! you're done. She can make anything happen, we constantly walk in with our hair looking like mops and come out razzle dazzled amazing! To top all of that off she is an amazing person and holds great conversation making the whole process quick and easy. For the longest time I literally got the same layered cut for years and am finally trying slightly various cuts and colors now. Courtney is the absolute best!!!! Can I give her 50 stars??? Don't believe me?? I fly 3000 miles cross country to see her! Really, I do! She's color corrected and fixed haircuts from disaster to amazing. She can do standard color/cuts to funky and fun!!! My last visit I showed her a picture of what I wanted (blonde, burgundy & pink) and it spot on! Truthfully, I was concerned about one color because it looked orangish, but she said "Trust me!" I had no reason not to trust her! She has been doing my hair for nearly 10 years! On top of that, my hair was an awful platinum spotty color and she fixed It! I'm working on 6 months with my last color and although it's grown out and color has faded a bit, I'm still in love with it. I am really surprised to see that there is only two stars for this place. Because I have seen two star salons and this is not one of them. I go to Courtney who is amazing and will bend over backwards for her customers. I moved to San Diego for College and she is still the only one who I will let touch my hair. She always finds time to fit me in when I come home. My mom also loves going to her. My mom has naturally great grey hair and Courtney always finds a way to enhance it.She does a great job of making you hair look great now and two months from now. If there is one down side to Courtney at all is that she likes to travel so sometimes it might be hard to book and appointment but at least when she comes back you have one extra thing to talk about. I really can't speak for the other two bad comments, Courtney's grandmother really did pass away as see by her reply. As for the Groupon, I don't know. I guess you get what you pay for. As a first timer (never died my hair before) I was lucky to have Tina take care of me. Tina was so professional and she contacted me promptly (the same day if I'm correct) to schedule a time to come in. She fit me right in the next day! I explained my ideas, what I liked and didn't like. Before she did anything she explained each step and explained the products that she was putting in my hair. She totally did an amazing job!!!! Since it was the first time dying my hair, I decided to go with an ombré (brown) and cut my hair a little below shoulder length with layers. Nothing too drastic but just enough for people to notice. I will definitely be going back. . . .you guys should check her out. I'd highly recommend her for any of your hair needs :) P.S. Apparently John feels that his clients can sit and wait for him - as long as need be - if he is busy chatting with a customer. He doesnt understand that it is RUDE and disrespectful If he runs over into your appointment time (by 1/2 an hour!). And he seemed suprised and confused when I explained how angry his disrespect made me feel. I got my hair done by Tina. I was a happy customer which is why I came back to get my hair done and I am definitely happy with what It came out to be. I paid $180 for a cut and hi lights. Tina did also thin out my hair because it's so thick. Now the cost is outrageously expensive. I've had my hair done before at a different salon. Cut color and highlights and only paid $140. But I am happy with Tina as my stylist! I do have thick hair so it does take longer to do my hair. She knows what she is doing and can tell she cares about her customers. She definitely cares about your hair cause she wants you to be a happy customer. She is really GREAT at knowing how to do colors. Her level of EXPERTISE is well worth the money spent. Cause we all know that we want our hair a certain way. So it's worth the money if it's gonna give us a stylist that cares and we get the outcome we want. I started going to Envy on and off since it first opened. John and Paula have made such a wonderful, lovely and welcoming environment. However, since Jennifer Escobar has joined to salon it is now the ONLY place I go. You just can get a better combination than Jennifer. She is an awesome stylist and awesome lady wrapped into one. She is so personable and great to talk to. Anytime I have had my hair done the color is AMAZING and my cut is exactly what I wanted. Whether it is a quick bang trim or a cut and color she always it is always a great experience. I also LOVE that when I leave my hair is styled the way I like it instead of the way the stylist likes it. John has been my hair stylist for almost 10 years, and he is one of the best. His knowledge of color is superb, and he works with you on what you want (like the pictures you point out in magazines!), and then helps you balance it with what will look best on you. I don't know about anyone else (writing these reviews), but when I get my hair done, I want someone who focuses on what I want, and if that means running a little into someone's appointment instead of doing a crappy job, then I think his "lateness" is certainly justified. You would want and expect the same thing when you're in the chair. An extra 30 minutes, on top of a two hour hair appointment, isn't that long. I also like that John recommends products for my hair, but he never pushes me to buy them. Recently I've been going through a "hair crisis" and John worked with me on cut, color, conditioning. He was awesome. He never made light of my situation...just helped me through it. Thanks John. Also, the shop is clean, and everyone I've encountered has been courteous and professional. The worst! Bought a groupon for a Brazilian Blow Out and was told I would have to upgrade to get the real thing! Yeah, he actually said with a straight face that they just came out with the "plant" based Brazilian Blowout, and that it isnt any good. And that if I want the original I'd have to pay for the upgrade. If the plant based wasn't any good, why were they offering it? More importantly, the GROUPON made no mention of the fact that it was anything but the regular Brazilian Blowout. AND they failed to mention this when I called for an appointment. Only after taking the morning off from work, driving out to elk grove (45 minutes for me and four gallons of gas round trip) did they deem it necessary to mention that the product they sold me for $125 really doesnt work! Do people really fall for this crap? Bait and Switch is what it is. I got a refund from GROUPON and I hope this place goes out of business, cause they surely treat their customers as marks. This place is "OK." I love their selection of Kerastase products, however, their service is too "uptight." They seem to think that they are a high end salon servicing celebrities in Beverly Hills or sometihng like that. I agree with Diana K. that the shop owner, Jon, is rude. He seems to act like he's hot shiz and that he's the "owner," deeming himself too good for you to talk to. He walks around the place and ignores friendly smiles or chats from clients as if, we are below his pedestal. Also, they seem to tell me there that my hair is ALWAYS damaged. No matter how meticulous I am with my hair (as in only washing every 3 days, cold water, kerastase sh & con, weekly deep conditioning, no heat styling products, no color, trim regularily) it is NEVER good enough. Courtney has always been the one to do my hair. I feel like she is "OK" at color, but EXCELLENT at cutting. She seems to know just how hair will fall if it is cut a certain way. I have always been told I have a great haircut and she is the one I have to thank for that. She is on vacation alot so it is hard scheduling with her, but I understand she needs to have a life too. The whole atmosphere of the place gives off the vibe that everyone there thinks they are better than their clients (or they hate their job). I am always made to feel unappreciated, that I SHOULD do business there. Courtney is a great stylists so I continue to just deal with it, but, after so many years of going there, sadly I had to make a change. Customer Service speaks for itself and you can definately tell when someone likes what they do, and when they dont. This place, reflects unhappy employees. Went last week for the first time. I saw the Yelp reviews and although some weren't so kind, they were not rating the service. I gave Courtney a try. She's funny, personable and she's a GREAT LISTENER. One thing I loved about Courtney was she asked what I Don't Like about my current hairstyle; we went from there. I am a different breed of customer as I truly care what the hairstylist thinks about my hair type when choosing a hair style. I can't wear every style nicely, so Courtney's expertise was important. Anyway, Courtney was honest and gave suggestions. Since my hair was butchered by the last stylist, Courtney understood how important hair length is to me and she is helping me grow out my butchered hair. She made it perfectly clear that in doing so, I would have to have some patience and live with an almost perfect style. I love Courtney - great cut for what she had to work with, a fun visit (she's funny), I didn't feel rushed, she took her time AND there was not a high upsell feel to the place. I went in about a week ago to get my eyelashes extensions done by Evan and I have to say my experience with him was great. He was very pleasant and had great customer service. My appt was close to an hour and a half which was to be expected. When he was done with my eyelashes he was willing to fix anything that I thought needed to be fixed before I left the shop. I came back for a touch up 1 week after and again he was great. He said if I needed any touch ups to just text him and let him know. If I needed to see him and have him stay pass his work hours he would be glad to work around it. I'm very happy with my experience and would definitely refer my friends to him. read more

I have been going to Envy for years and have always been very happy. Over the summer i tried 2 new services for my daughter a Brazilian Blow Out with Johna and eyebrow threading with Evan. Cant tell you how pleased both me amd my daughter are. Her hair is no lnger crazy frizzy curly. It now has beautiful curls with no frizz or tangels. Ad her eyebrows turned out lively.
