Tommy then texted me, threatening me to go back to the dealership or else he would void the plates or put the car out for repo. I told him I couldn't go during workdays, so I scheduled an appointment for Saturday the 18th of July. At the dealership, I was told that for me to be able to keep the car, I should sign a new contract with different financing terms and make an additional down payment. I found these new demands ridiculous and unreasonable, and they raised significant red flags and serious concerns about the legitimacy of the transaction. As a result, I declined to sign the new contract and instead requested that the transaction be unwound. Immediately, Tommy got very agitated and raised his voice, saying that the dealership would keep my down payment. When I asked Tommy to show me which part of the contract allows him to keep my down payment, he refused to tell me. I reviewed the purchase contract I was provided, and I could not find any provision that would allow the dealership to retain my down payment under these circumstances. He said he had a document signed by me that allows him to keep the down payment. When I asked him to show it to me, he refused. This document was not included in the list of documents I received when I signed the contract. He then requested another employee to block the car in the lot. At this point, he was yelling at my mother and me. He literally forced us out of his office and threatened to call the police on us, saying that I would go to jail, which I found shocking. He then attempted to leave the building but later returned to his office, shut the door on us, and hid there. He made one of his co-workers, who identified himself as Johnny (the same one who blocked the car), talk to us because, for whatever reason, he could no longer speak to us. I was not provided with any written receipt or documentation acknowledging that the dealership had possession of the vehicle. I also requested copies of all documents I had signed, including a document the Midway Autohaus claimed allowed them to keep part or all of my down payment. Still, Tommy and Johnny refused to provide me with a copy. I contacted the police to document the situation, but they advised it was a civil matter. I have since requested all documentation in writing, but they have not responded. My biggest concern is the return of my down payment. Despite the financing falling through and my request to unwind the transaction, Tommy claimed that Midway Autohaus would keep my entire down payment and refused to provide the document he said authorized them to do so. As a customer, I genuinely feel like I got SCAMMED. No customer should ever have to fight to recover their own money or be denied copies of documents they signed. Based on my experience, I strongly urge anyone considering doing business with Midway Autohaus to proceed with extreme caution. Read every document carefully, insist on receiving copies of everything you sign, and do not rely on verbal promises. I wish I had chosen a different dealership, and I hope this review helps others avoid going through what I experienced. I have also sent a formal email requesting copies of the documents related to my transaction and an explanation regarding my down payment. Still, I have not received any response from Tommy. I sincerely hope someone from Midway Autohaus management or ownership will review this matter, contact me directly, and work toward a fair resolution. I would much rather resolve this issue professionally than continue escalating it through consumer protection agencies and other appropriate channels.

I began the purchase process over the phone and traveled from Buffalo, New York, on May 30 to pick up the vehicle. Before traveling, I specifically asked about the Carfax and vehicle history. I was told everything was good, aside from a minor front-end collision resulting in less than $500 in reported damage. No other major issues were disclosed. Before leaving the dealership, the Service Brake Assist warning light came on. I was told the brakes had recently been serviced and that the code had simply not been reset. The vehicle was kept in the service department for approximately an hour and a half, and I was told the issue had been fixed. Approximately 150-200 miles into my drive home, the warning light came back on. I immediately contacted the salesman and continued following up. About a week later, I was told to make an appointment with a Chevrolet dealer. When the vehicle was finally inspected, I was informed that the driver-side front caliper was seized and that the vehicle needed brake pads and rotors. I also learned that the master cylinder was bad and that the engine and cabin air filters were severely clogged. I repeatedly attempted to contact Advantage Chevrolet but was often sent to full voicemails or people who no longer worked there. I eventually spoke with the general manager, who told me it was a "done deal" and essentially told me to "piss off." On July 28, the truck broke down on the highway and had to be towed to Jim Murphy Chevrolet. I was informed that the engine had seized. I was also told that the vehicle had previously been sold twice at auction due to engine-related issues, information that was never disclosed to me when I purchased the truck. I relied on the information provided by Advantage Chevrolet when making this purchase and would not have purchased the vehicle had I known about its prior engine problems and mechanical condition.

For the East Dundee location:…read more The team at Driven Auto are generally personable and willing to help. We specifically came for a vehicle that they had listed on their website that was within our price range. Adam was kind (we felt no pressure) and went on a separate test drive with both me and my husband as we had our baby with us and weren't able to all go at the same time. The purchase process was fairly easy and we were happy to walk away with a new to us car that same day. After driving the vehicle home, we started to notice a grinding/clanking noise. It progressed and continue to get louder, so I called as I was concerned that it could be a significant safety issue. They got us in the following Monday and were able to determine that the front passenger side control arm needed to be replaced. We are grateful that they got us in quickly and replaced this free of charge. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that we are still having with the vehicle. The active noise cancelation system (ANC) has a microphone issue. Instead of reducing road noise, it is amplifying it when accelerating between 25-35 mph. My husband pointed this out when we brought the vehicle back for the control arm, but they were unable to fix that component. Also, during our test drive we noticed a noise that sounded similarly to an electronic deadbolt locking/unlocking (gear grind) when locking/unlocking the car. This was something my husband asked about but was told it was normal. Unfortunately, however it is not normal and it is actually a failing fuel lid actuator that we will need to replace as well. A few other issues have included tire sensor and display screen connectivity issues. I know what you are thinking... you bought a used car, expect issues. Yes, yes I know. This is just a warning for due diligence, as I'm not sure what type of service checks are done before these vehicles are listed. Lastly, the only other issue is the "I Owe, You Owe" contract. This was something we were asked to sign with the promise that the dealership would provide us a second key to our vehicle within 30 days. I made multiple requests regarding this, with the last 3 requests being within the last week of that 30 day contract. On the two occasions that I spoke with Max, who had also signed the "I Owe, You Owe" contract, he had told me he had been too busy over the last few weeks to call about a second key, but would get it taken care of. This is frustrating as I guarantee if we had "owed" something, and didn't follow up within 30 days, this dealership wouldn't have taken that lightly. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Good luck with your used car buying search.

They sold me a car with a known issue, misrepresented its condition-putting my safety at risk-and refused to replace the failed parts when the car broke down just a few thousand miles later. The full story: I bought a used Tesla here in October 2024. There was a steering alert on the dash--salesperson Ibrahim said he would fix it. After I got home (an hour away), the alert returned. Ibrahim told me the car was in great condition (which was materially false) and that the warning just needed to be reset. A few thousand miles later, the car became inoperable. Tesla confirmed the issue was due to worn suspension parts that existed when I bought the car and quoted me over $3,000 for repairs. The dealership marked the warranty disclosure as "N/A" and failed to note any defects, which I've since learned may violate Illinois law (815 ILCS 505/2L) because the car had under 100,000 miles. They refused to cover repairs--even if I used their own shop. Their service lead, Omar, quoted me over $1,300 to fix it. I've also since learned of multiple lawsuits pending against Driven Auto Sales across the U.S.
