Came here with my family for a impromptu early birthday dinner. Very cozy and intimate. I ordered a sprite for my son and it was super flat and sweet, I couldn't bare the taste. Otherwise all the other sodas we tried were ok. For appetizers we got the enzo pizza, calamari, and the baked clams. Enzo pizza was delicious and we all enjoyed it along with the baked clams, super good. I personally thought the calamari was a little too soft and lacked flavor. My sister and i ordered the carbonara pasta as entrees. I thought the pasta was a little soft and soggy. Each time I tried to grab some pasta it would just break apart. Not what I would've wanted in a pasta. My mom got the zuppa de pesce with linguini and she seemed to enjoy it, the pasta didnt look soggy there but too much work to take apart the shellfish, she was hoping the dish came deshelled. My dad got the oil and garlic pasta with grilled chicken and he ate it all and my husband ordered the rigatoni bolognese and he only left the sauce. Old school Italian food with all pasta made in-house and delicious. We shared the Al Forno pasta baked with ricotta, mozzarella, little meatballs, sweet sopresata, and sausage in a tomato cream sauce. My wife had the sole Francese, and I had the veal alla Enzo with cippolinis, peas, and sausage in a brown wine sauce. The veal was tender, and my wife said the sole was very tasty. The portions are ample, and the quality was excellent. The waiter was pure old school and said we ordered enough, as I am so used to being upsold these days. All in all a terrific meal. read more

The restaurants on Arthur Avenue have done a great job serving guests during the pandemic. I'm here at Enzos for lunch. Our waiter seated us quickly at a nice outdoor table. I've had a light breakfast because I am craving Italian comfort food, a huge veal cutlet parmigiana. This dish is something I used to eat as a kid, I can still see my grandfather pounding out the veal cutlets on Sunday morning. And Enzos make a KILLER veal parm! It comes with a side of spaghetti but the star of the lunch show is a pounded thin, veal cutlet. This thing is huge. YUGE! Fried to a golden perfection, topped with sauce and hot melted parmigiana cheese, this is why the Yankees keep winning. I haven't have a veal cutlet this good in years. If you're in The Bronx, I highly recommend dining at Enzos of Arthur Avenue where they are still making Italian specialty meals very well. read more

This was my first time in Arthur Avenue and I went I try Enzo's because it's apparently one of the big staples of the area. Very cute (large) restaurant with attentive staff - we didn't have a reservation and the lunch rush was already getting pretty crowded (probably especially because people were coming in to escape the cold snap), but we were seated pretty quickly. We got the polenta cake appetizer, which was hearty and savory and perfect for the winter. My dining companion got the veal capricciosa from their lunch menu, which was a very generous portion and covered with a well tossed arugula. I got their pappardelle pasta with cheese and sausage in red sauce and unfortunately this was the one misfire of the day. The pappardelle was very overdone and some of the noodles had stuck to each other. The sauce helped hide the lack of noodle texture by just making it into what tasted like a lasagna deconstructed, but considering this place is known for its handmade pasta, I'm sorry I didn't get to taste it at its best. read more

The food here at Enzo's rivals any fine dining restaurant anywhere on the planet. Service staff worked hard very busy restaurant. We were seated in the back garden room which we appreciated since it was less noisy then the other rooms. We arrived at 3.30 Pm. First my glass of white wine was not chilled. We were a party of 6 several of our meals were not hot, barely warm. We did not complain as we did not want to embarrass our friend who made the reservations. I had the shrimp scampi over risotto. It was barely warm. The 6 shrimp were cooked nicely but both the shrimp and the risotto were not well seasoned. Rather bland. I found no pieces of garlic as I expected and usually in a scampi sauce. Went on Saturday with my wife, 3 adult children, 1 daughter-in-law and 1 grandson. The nearby table of ten+ acted like they were the only people in the restaurant, hooting and hollering and generally yucking it up at a ridiculous volume. People at every table in the room looked their way in alarm more than once, and the waiters just rolled their eyes. I asked the manager to intervene. Reluctantly she said she would and we noticed she approached someone at the offending table. Nothing changed. If anything they got louder. On the way out, I told the manager that our outing had been ruined. Her reply: "Well, they come here all the time, so what can I do." When the host of the loud table kissed the manager on the way out, thanking her for such a good time, I knew that the fix was in from the beginning. read more

Had dinner here last night and everything was superb. We started with eggplant stacked w mozzarella and tomato. The eggplants was perfectly fried and the mozzarella was oozing, delicious. The Arthur Ave. Retail Market is the oldest enclosed market in the Bronx (it's worth a visit all its own), and Enzo's is in the back where Cafe Mercato used to be. Man do they serve a pizza. I was having a hard time making a decision because the display case was full of so many good-looking pies. At the chef's recommendation I got a slice with fresh mozzarella and sopressata. I tried to order pepperoni but he politely explained that pepperoni is a trashy imitation of sopressata. They say you should always follow chef's advice, so I did. And glad I did. 2 slices and I didn't have to eat again until the next morning. If I threw in a glass of red wine, it would have been first date worthy. Price, very fair. Chef has opened up high-end pizza restaurants all over the world. The counter guy was as friendly as could be. Attention Mr. Enzo: hang onto those guys, they're as good as your wonderful food. The Market and surrounding neighborhood is a great place to pick up your Italian deli things, fresh vegetables, and cigars hand-made on site -- fun to watch. You can get an authentic gelato and a serious espresso without taking too many steps from Enzo's -- make an afternoon of it, splurge a little, you'll not only have great pizza, you'll have an experience. My son who goes to Fordham insisted that this restaurant is the best on Arthur Avenue. We had the truffle mushroom pizza and tricolor salad. For our meals, we got the chicken parmigiana, short rib pasta and pasta with white clam sauce. Everything was delicious!! The only reason I'm giving a four instead of a five is that we ate outside and every so often we could smell urine wafting over from the area next door. Came here a few days ago. We were doing a self guided food tour of the area and decided to end our tour at this wonderful place. I had heard great things about Enzo and it did not disappoint. We shared one of the pasta which are homemade. I can't remember which sauce we got but it had ricotta mozzarella and meatballs. Delicious!. We also shared the truffle pizza. Went to Arthur Avenue to celebrate my brother's birthday. We stopped at the market across the street for an iced latte. It was smooth and delicious. At Enzo's we started with a Margherita pizza. I ordered the bucatini with octopus. It had garlic and a variety of olives. The combo of briny olives, smooth bucatini and octopus was perfect. My brother ordered the sausage and broccoli rabe with orecchiette. Very delicious. And we added a side order of broccoli. The service was good and specials were tempting. Let's be real - food was great. If it was just about the food then I would give it a higher score. However, service was slow and not helpful and definitely not what I expected from a classic restaurant. It was somewhat busy when we got there - I'm willing to account for that, but it was not so busy that we had to wait 20 min for a menu. I asked for a wine list and was given a cocktail menu which was basically thrown at the table. We waited at least another 15 min to order. It seemed disorganized and rushed and even when we tried to pay, we had to search for our server. Our semi-annual trip to the New York Botanical Garden always winds up with a trip to nearby Arthur Ave for lunch. We like try a different restaurant each time and this time we selected Enzo's. We arrived right at the noon opening time on a Sunday. I was impressed by the elegant surroundings as we were escorted down the hallway, pass the front bar and brick pizza oven, which opened up into a spacious backroom dining area. Our group of 8 were seated comfortably and our waiter read off a long list of specials of the day, as we were munching sliced Italian bread and olive loaf. To start, I wanted baked clams, so we got a dozen Littlenecks along with Fried Calamari and the Mixed Hot Antipasto Special of the Day, all to share. I might have had more than my fair share of the clams, though. Wife, brother, sisters and friends all ordered something different, which looks really good for pics, so here goes. Plates soon came flowing out from the kitchen and I could barely keep up. Eggplant Parmigiana and Sunday Lasagna were on the list of Specials, so my wife and sister went with those. Around the table, the Margherita Pizza, Shrimp & Asparagus Spaghetti and Chicken Parmigiana all looked so good. After annoyingly taking pictures of everybody's meals, I was able to sit down to my Pork Braciole & Cavatelli. The pork roll was perfectly seasoned and cooked, while the cavatelli had that perfect chew that only fresh-made pasta has. Finishing up with some cappuccino and Affogato was the warm capstone on an otherwise chilly, rainy day. Had an authentic Arthur Avenue experience at Enzos... waited a little under an hour for a table for two on a Saturday evening, we enjoyed passing time at the bar where the bartenders were exceptionally friendly and engaging. Once seated, our wait service was fair. We were seated close to the bar and found our waiter to be more attentive towards other staff. Our waiter requested we ordered our entire order at once, aside from dessert. We were overwhelmed by the options of classic Italian dishes, while also putting a spin on others. **INDOOR DINING COVID REVIEW** Last Friday my BFF hosted her "micro wedding" in the era of COVID, at Enzo's. After weeks of planning (yes - it was semi last minute) it culminated in a truly magical evening on their back patio. The room was BEAUTIFUL. My favorite part was the floral roof! Although it was torrentially raining at one point (good luck right?) Our group of 20 was super cozy beneath the covered, heated haven. I didn't catch a single person's name - there was so much going on! - however every single person was absolutely amazing. This is not an exaggeration, truly EVERY WAITER/SERVER/BUSBOY/HOST that we encountered was incredibly pleasant, helpful and truly a delight. I didn't get pictures of much food wise (again, a lot was going on with the nuptials and all haha) but the pasta marinara appetizer with fresh mozzarella was BEYOND AMAZING. I even tried to recreate it at home the next day because I needed more! Lol I opted for the salmon main course and it was super yummy. My boyfriend got the veal and another guest opted for the chicken -- everyone was pleased with their dishes and cleared their plate without hesitation. Do not hesitate to patronize Enzo's whether it is a night out or a special occasion. Really wanted to love Enzo's. The service was kind and efficient, but the food unfortunately did not meet expectations. The inside is decor is beautiful, and sitting al fresco hearing Italian music definitely sets the ambiance, but it is not a place I would go back or recommend. Ate the rigatoni seafood special and my rigatoni was extremely overcooked, and so much olive oil was added that they were basically floating. The clams were decent but nothing to write home about. It was all pretty disappointing. The food just lacked flavor and presentation and priced rather high considering. Won't be back. read more

Enzos is a delicious throwback to red sauce, Southern Italian restaurants. Their menu is so difficult to find outside of cities with large Italian populations. The classical dishes sang to me, but the Veal Parmesan reached to my very soul. It was gigantic and delicious, served with a side of spaghetti. This ain't diet food. I started with a scrumptious Caesar Salad, just to pretend to eat healthy. Dishes were served with Italian care and graciousness. Enzos is Italy with a New York accent. Visited Enzo's during my first visit to Arthur Ave. I had no reservation for my 1pm Saturday visit. I was seated immediately with no wait. Ordered drinks and appetizers of the calamari (which was ridiculously good)& caprese salad. Both appetizers were very good. We decided not to eat everything to leave room for the entrees I asked our waiter to wrap it up so we could take it home with us. While waiting for our main courses i looked around at the other diners tables. Everyone seemed be enjoying their meals. Then it hit me. As the busboys were clearing the tables every single dish was empty. Diners were devouring their meals. I mentioned this to my daughter and then our plates came. The bronzino and my daughter's chicken parmesan with penne vodka sauce. We inhaled the delicious dishes. Both were outstanding. Another set of empty plates for the busboys to collect. The hostess, waiter and staff was beyond friendly and terrific. Only downside was they did not return my uneaten appitizers to take home. Wanted to have my wife sample the food.
