Epic Maui Hikes - Road to Hana Review Worth every penny, thanks to our local expert Mike. As first time visitors to Maui, my girlfriend and I didn't really have a good idea on what to do other than go to the beach and enjoy ourselves. While looking online for different activities to get into, we came across the opportunity to travel the "Road to Hana" with an experienced local. So we booked the adventure and little did we know we weren't going on a regular road trip/hike. (READ THIS PART IF NOTHING ELSE) Our tour guide Mike was one cool dude. He took us to spots where we could cliff dive and swim, he took countless pictures/videos of my girl and I together like he was a photographer. We saw black sand and pink sand beaches and even got to visit some of the locals who live on the road. We picked fresh fruit and enjoyed what the beautiful land had to offer. Halfway through the adventure we stopped and ate at one of the local barbecue food trucks which was the best food we've had all trip even after spending $300 in the big time restaurants. Julisa with Epic Maui Hikes made our Private Waterfall Tour an unforgettable family memory ! Last visit we did a helicopter tour to see the landscape overall. This trip we did not want to stress over driving on the Road to Hana and we did not want to spend an entire day! We did, however, want to experience an up close and personal waterfall experience hiking through the bamboo forest and swinging from the rope swing into the exhilarating fresh clear water!!!!! We did all of these things as we were educated about Hawaiian culture, trees, plants, animals and had ZERO stress driving on the Road to Hana. She accomodated our curiosities on the way back by stopping for coffee/smoothies/shopping as traffic was so light in the afternoon we had some extra time! Highly recommend this private family activity! We felt safe and could enjoy the scenery without stress driving this twisty, windy, treacherous road! OMG I couldn't have asked for any more with this company or Chris! My first trip to Hawaii and highlight was my waterfall tour with Epic Maui Hikes booked through Trip Advisor. I arrived at the meeting point, but no tour guide. I phoned and Trip Advisor failed to book my tour. I could have cried! Sally was able to make the tour happen and my guide, Chris, met me within 30 minutes!! I can not describe the amazing adventure I had. My main goal was to cliff jump although I'm scared to death of heights. I'm 50 yrs old and it was time to conquer, if only I could pull the trigger and just jump. Chris was so patient and encouraging while I stood at the ledge for probably an hour before finally taking the leap! We hiked the waterfalls and Chris made time to stop at other island highlights as well. His knowledge and passion of Maui make it clear he is in the right profession. Met Spence in Wailuku, safe parking on a local farm. Traveled with him to 13 Crossings trail, not a place you want to park your own car. He was very knowledgeable about not only the trail and the area we were in but also about Maui itself. The group was just me and my 17yr old daughter, no bus or van, just us and Spence. Beautiful trail where we saw multiple waterfalls. Spence had towels, water and snacks for us. He also was recording on a Go Pro, we ended up with 51 different pictures and videos. Towards the end we crossed the highway for the extra part down to where you could cliff jump, if you wanted to. We chose not to but watched a few others go for it. Beautiful hike back up. Finished off at the end in the same parking lot , where the local food truck was waiting. Transferred the Go Pro footage on the way back. Would highly recommend this company for any activities. read more

Our family had a waterfall adventure scheduled for early August with Epic Maui Hikes. Due to the wildfires occurring right on the day we were scheduled to depart, we were unable to make it to Maui and obviously did not make it to the waterfall adventure. Epic Maui Hikes gave us a 100% refund due to the unprescedented nature of the event and the distance we had to travel making a return to Maui in the future unlikely. Traveling long distances with a family is always stressful. Epic Maui Hikes has a resaonable cancellation policy that handles 99% of situations, and that policy should be respected, but we found ourselves in a rare circumstance with no clear path. They did the right thing and that did not go unnoticed. We dealt directly with an owner and she was amazing. Mahalo! read more

we signed up for Road to Hana tour, and we lucked out and got Lauren. Oh my gosh, she was amazing! She was probably the best tour guide I've ever had in my life! She was not a local but she spoke like one. She loves the island and she's so knowledgeable made us feel very welcomed, right at home and very comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed our time with her. My friend did also, and my friend had had a fall a couple of days before our tour and so she was using a Rollator. Lauren was amazing! Helped her along the way always assisting always helping always offering assistance. Lauren just took a leisurely trip with us and made sure we were good. Every stop. My husband and I came to Maui wanting to seek out unique, off the beaten path experiences, and Epic Maui Hikes really made that a reality. Remy was our tour guide. He was fun and upbeat, an expert conversationalist, a little daring, and simultaneously professional/safe. Just finished my 19th visit to Maui since 1982 and tried to do things I hadn't done previously. Kudos to Epic Maui Hikes! My daughter and I enjoyed a marvelous hike in upcountry Maui on the "Jungle Waterfall Adventure". Our guides were friendly, patient and thoroughly capable. Colt, in particular, was both competent on the trail and knowledgeable about the history and ecology of the area, often pointing out interesting small details that we otherwise would have missed. We swam in the chilly lagoon beneath the waterfall and even dared a leap from the rope swing. Fabulous! Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I had the opportunity to go on an excursion while on Vacation to Hawaii and a friend had mentioned Sean to us. We're we ever glad he did! I'm generally not a reviewer. But Zak (our guide) and Epic Maui Hikes went even beyond our expectations. Off-the-beaten path trail filled with incredible sights and sounds and challenges. Zak balanced our trek through the jungle to 5 different waterfalls, adjusting for Dad and Mom, and 3 boys ages 9, 15 and 16.
