We hired QLS to install a mini split for us in our pool house in 2017, we had a few issues taken…read morecare of by other companies throughout the years. Nothing was ever noted that installation was done poorly or incorrectly, as you can't see into the wall to know until after what happened as that could not be seen. Fast forward about 5 years, and the unit on the back of the house fell off the wall, causing damage to the electrical wiring and copper tubing. We contacted QLS for service to look at the unit, determine why it had fallen and to see if it could be repaired. QLS did come out this time and re-hung the unit, stating it wasn't bolted into any studs and only the siding and the OSB. The technicians couldn't get the unit working on the first visit. They dropped off the disconnect breaker at the door to my kids and said they didn't have one. I was able to test the breaker and determine it was functional and opened the cover for the electrical wiring and found the supply wiring was not visible as it pulled into the flex conduit coming from the disconnect to the unit. I re-terminated the wiring and the unit powers up but won't blow cold air. I let QLS know what I found and they said they would come back out. The tech on the second visit ended up fixing the unit letting us know the copper tubing was crushed and all the refrigerant had leaked out, was able to un-kink the tubing and recharge the system. They later sent an invoice for $811, without ever confirming the estimate with us prior to fixing the unit or even giving us a clue as to what it might cost. We would NOT have approved of that cost. We would have said we do not need the unit anymore, we already have a window unit in there from the other times it did not work. We feel this should have been communicated better and honestly feel taken care of by the company, not because they had to or it was under warranty. Obviously, it wasn't by this time. But more to do with the fact that properly installed units do not just fall off walls for no reason. It wasn't neglect or even an accident on our part. Even QLS admits that units do not just fall off the wall, and they provided some pretty wild hypotheses as to how a motorcycle driving through our yard knocked it off the wall, while not physically damaging the units frame or coil fins, not even a scratch on the paint. (We do not own a motorcycle, the marks the tech saw were clearly from mowing the area so that the tech could access the unit). If the owner would have really analyzed the images we sent, he would see that it's technically impossible for the unit to have been hit due to placement and tracks. Well played QLS, doing some questionable work in hopes that by the time anyone notices, you can technically and legally claim it's not your problem anymore.

Something happened to the thermostat and it wasn't working. I called QLS on a Friday and they told me to call Honeywell as their techs don't reprogram the thermostats. I found out then that Honeywell outsources troubleshooting to Resideo. Resideo call center keeps regular office hours so I did not have AC for a weekend. Since the Resideo Tech and I could not get the thermostat to work, I called QLS again who sent a tech out, and he replaced the old one. I called Resideo back and they helped me reprogram the thermostat. I've had no more problems with it. QLS didn't charge for that visit. In October, I was having trouble with the heater. I called QLS and a technician came out. He looked over the system and had to replace the circuitboard. I asked him if I could pay the bill and he said there would be no charge as the part was under warranty. Later in October, I received a text message that I owed for the service. I called and Vanessa said she would check into it, I assumed everything was taken care of. Today I get another text message that I owe for the visit back in October. When I called in, I was told that while the tech was here, he did a semi-annual checkup on the unit and that's what I'm being charged for. I was very upset because I'd been told by the tech I didn't owe for of the visit- had he told me I owed for a check up, I would have paid it during the original visit. When I called in back in October to the office, I assumed everything was fine because I heard nothing back for a month. QLS is extremely responsive to calls, and their texts are professional and friendly. But beware of communication issues and charges.

Overall we spent ~15k for the unit and install. We haven't gone 30 days without a breakdown yet. Each time it got qc'd, we were told everything was fixed. So far issues have been : - Badly installed drainage leading to water damage - Debris in drain - Refrigerant leak from install - Blown electrical unit. Every root cause was from something done incorrectly during install. We have damaged and unrepaired siding from install, water damaged drywall and paint from the follow on issues. Inspite of these repeated issues from install and failures, each call out for no AC has been treated as if we were calling for the first time and the only proactive communication was for ensuring the city code inspector passed it.

Short Version I…read morecalled LaCounte and iAirServices to fix a new install job by another company that went horribly wrong. They were professional, thorough, detail oriented and fixed everything that was not right with the previous install. They were able to make the temperature 5 to 6 degrees cooler, make everything nice and up to code, and significantly reduce the static pressure. If you are thinking of getting a new AC call these guys. They pay 100% attention to detail and will make sure it is done right to the specs of manufactures installation guide. There is a major difference between having a single AC technician installing your unit vs and installation crew where people are specialized. You will not have to worry about your install being done correctly. They might be a tad bit more expensive, but I assure you that investment will go a long way in having your unit installed correctly and having ZERO corners cut. We scheduled and they came out did the following (and probably more) : 1) Increase the return plenum for proper rebound zone. 2) Increase the supply plenum from 4' with a terrible workman ship to 8' with something picture worthy. Note: having a larger supply plenum is important part of duct design and helps with air flow. 3) Increase a return duct size to get appropriate return air, 4) Straighten existing duct work to remove restrictions. 5) Install furnace and evaporator coil per instructions. This is where they fixed specifically what the instructions said not to do which was done incorrectly by original installer. 6) Fix the electrical wiring outside to meet code. 7) Fixed the low voltage wiring to the outside unit that had the protective insulation worn off. This probably saved me an electrical short and thousands of dollars of damage a year or so down the road. 8) Sealed/glue the condensate pvc drain line. Seriously, the original installer did not even do this? 9) Moved the air scrubber to the supply side of the unit so I will work more effectively. 10) Remove all refrigerant, vacuum, pressure test and retest the unit to make sure there was nothing bad in the line. 11) Fixed furnace exhaust pipe to go to the right direction. 12) Fixed furnace exhaust to go to correct size outlet. At the end of the day the static pressure decreased from 1.4 to .9  and a 5-6 degree temperature drop but LaCounte wants the static pressure number better/lower. So they are going to come back and increase some of the supply ducts in our bedroom and living room because they are undersized and are not getting appropriate air to them. The crew itself fast, efficient, courteous, meticulous, and cared about the craftsmanship.  Heck, they even vacuumed up in the attic. Yup - that is right. They cleaned up after themselves very well and even cleaned up their mess in the attic. These guys are installation artists. LaCounte, his crew, and iAirServices care about quality and will not cut corners.  If you need a new AC, call them.  You will know that everything will be done right and if something isn't 100% right they will fix it. And they will be transparent... LaCounte said he is not happy with the static pressure number and they will come back to fix it by increasing duct size. If you purchase a new AC system, say a 16 SEER, and the install job is so terrible like mine was, it does not operate at 16 Seer. TBH, I would be lucky if the original installation were as effective as a 11 or 12 seer unit. I am curious to see how this system will handle a 15 degree day, but I suspect it will do quite well. I am lucky to have found these guys to help get us out of a mess. Learn from my mistake and call them first. Mold has grown all around our plenum as a result. I contacted the company to rectify this and they have completely ghosted me. They won't take any responsibility and keep telling me someone will call me but nobody has. I would give zero stars if I could!
